      Unnecessary Midriff.

      • Folk Devil

I want to start a band just so I can call it “Unnecessary Midriff”.

        • gabbilevy

          That’s what I had in mind :)

      • Sarah

        Unnecessary Jewels, as well.

        • H2olovngrl

          Thankfully, not the family kind….

      • drdarke

Yeah there’s a midriff gap happening, @gabbilevy:disqus – but…. still, given the other fashion disasters hitting the IRON MAN 3 Red Carpet? It and she are cute as cut buttons, and it looks really comfortable too.

        I’ll give it a pass….

      • ankali

I was going to go with Inexplicable Midriff, but yours is judgier and better.

    • clatie

She is very young and, I’ve got to say, she looks adorable. Oh, for the skin of youth…sigh

    • Kiltdntiltd

Other than the distracting BOOMS, I love this look. Its got a great forties, femme fatale look. The necklace is completely lost in that pattern. A shame since its a great piece.

      • foodycatAlicia

She needs a lovely long cigarette holder, doesn’t she? And do practice her languid eyes.

        • Kiltdntiltd

And hair tumbling down like La Hayworth. Yes.

          • CT14

Yes. That topknot is bothering me.

          • ankali

With a big flower behind one ear. Femme fatale at a beautiful resort with a seamy underbelly!

And no necklace. I want to make sure we’re sticking with no necklace.

    • Kevin VanOrd

I almost loved this, but with the bare skin showing in the middle, I can’t stop humming the I Dream of Jeannie theme music.

    • marlie

I kind of like this, but I wish the skirt were several inches shorter, and the midriff is unnecessary. Still a cute look, overall. She looks a LOT like Diana Agron.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

I like this. Does that mean I should go home sick?

      • Isabel

Stay at work. I like it also. For her.

        • Tatiana Luján

I hate it, but I think she manages to look good.

      • lexilexi

        I know… I kept thinking… I should hate this, but I don’t. I’ll stay at work as well.

      • alyce1213

I like it too. You’re fine.

      • VicD

Yep, I’m in this club too. Should hate it, but…. it’s kind of adorbs. Granted it would be better without the midriff split and without the peplum/ruffle, but…. it kinda works.

      • Cousin_Rose

Anyone that looks that good gets an in even if there are a coupla issues.

    • Jane Donuts

Cute and fun but oy, those shoes. Still, she looks adorable.

    • Nicole Seligman

that is a lot of outfit for a little girl. wrong necklace, love the hair.

    • MilaXX

I’m not understanding this neon yellow nail trend. They ruin every look I have seen them paired with.

      • Julie Chase

Ugh, and the one accent nail. I hate you Pinterest.

        • Nicole Chubb

          THANK YOU!!!!

        • librarygrrl64

    • ceceliadid

That’s a lot of look, but her lipstick and cute little self are pulling it together.

    • Alyssa T. Robot

she’s a beautiful young girl and i can support that outfit but oh brother that seems like a lotta makeup for a cute 15 year old. or any woman actually.

    • SugarSnap108

I adore it on the model — so, without the midriff, tacky necklace and hell-spawned shoes.

    • jw_ny

I really kinda like this. The shade of lipstick is off…softer woulda been better I think. Also, the booms and the bun are buggin me…not awful tho.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

      Pretty girl – stupid dress.

    • foodycatAlicia

Nice print, horrible waste of a necklace.

    • Karen Tully

Either a crop or a peplum, not both.

      • akprincess72

    • Anathema_Device

That’s a lot of look. I think peplum+print+bare belly=fashion trend overload. I think her makeup is pretty, as is her hair color. I like the print, and if this were a one piece, to the knee dress, I’d like it a lot better.

      • Fordzo

        Don’t forget the necklace.

        • Anathema_Device

      • demidaemon

It is, as she wore it, a bit kitchen sink-y.

    • bellafigura1

I actually kind of love this but it needs, once again, more Mom, less stylist.

      • alyce1213

Unless her mom is like Kris Jenner. lol

    • Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

There’s just too much going on in that look.

    • Golfkat

I always cringe a little when I see her, because she is so clearly trying to be/act/dress older than her age. She’s only 15.

      • Okiewankenobi

Wow! I have no idea who she is and assumed she was early- to mid-twenties. In that case needs to chip off some of that war paint!

      • jw_ny

wow…15! That is definitely way too much makeup. I thought she was at least 13 years older than she is…

      • barbarienne

At this rate, she’ll be ready to star in a remake of Driving Miss Daisy when she’s 30.

I have to keep reminding myself that when I was a teenager, I wanted to look older, too. Most of us get over it by the time we’re 25, so I must have faith that starlets will as well. (Though too many of them go the other direction at that point, trying to look 21 until they’re 45.)

      • BrooklynBomber

She’s 15?! Wow. Then I’d say this otherwise cute look is all a bit too much.

        • Sarah

Right? I was going to point out that this outfit is giving her a hella slammin’ booty, but now I feel icky for thinking so. On the other hand, when I was 15 I was walking around so tarted up I once got mistaken for a hooker, so I guess I can’t judge.

          • BrooklynBomber

I know what you mean. But sometimes you see what’s clearly a young teen trying to look more grown up; this girl really looks more sophisticated than her years.

            • Sarah

Definitely. I thought she was pushin’ 30. Just hope it’s all about her look and not her life. I wish I could go back and tell my little self it wasn’t worth the rush to be “grown up” – especially because I was totally wrong about what that meant.

            • ankali

I was half right: being grown up does mean getting to eat ice cream out of the carton whenever you want. Of course, it also means learning how to delay gratification, so.

    • Adriana Blair

I kinda love this on her.

    • MsOlympia

Despite the rather heavy-handed appropriation of geisha elements, I actually do like this. She needed to lose one or two items before leaving the house, though.

    • decormaven

Pinterest nails. Necklace apropos of nothing. Cute gal, but she should have stuck with the runway look.

    • Janet B

What is the point of the necklace?

    • Spicytomato1

The print at first glance looks Marimekko-ish. Or maybe I’m just in a spring redecorating mood.

Her hair is distracting from the rest of the look, I think. Also, I thought it was Dianna Agron in the thumbnail.

      • Angela_the_Librarian

I thought it was Leighton Meister

    • alyce1213

Without the necklace, this is a WERQ for me. Unusual, great color, eye-catching and pretty; fits and suits her perfectly.
(I don’t have irrational hatred for all peplums.)

    • ConnieBV

I need to find out where the Bella Thorne/Leighton Meester/Minka Kelly clone lab is and destroy it.

      • Spicytomato1

I’m assuming it’s in the same part of town as the Selena Gomez/Demi Lovato/Vanessa Hudgens clone lab, so maybe you can take care of that one while you’re at it.

    • nannypoo

This is so cute. She doesn’t need the necklace. I love everything else.

    • butterflysunita

If this were an IN/OUT post I’d say IN because she looks pretty and the print is fun. I don’t like the hair, the necklaces are too much, and think the makeup is a bit too heavy. I also think the change in the design to show the midriff ruins the silhouette of the dress.

    • zenobar

Lose the necklace, change the nail color, and this would be perfection. Such a cute 40s look, especially since her actual navel is covered, and her tiny little midriff can handle that waistband.

    • Sara__B

I really like the dress on her, “unnecessary midriff” and all. What I DON’T like is the styling. The hair, necklace, nails, and shoes should be much simpler — WHOA! She’s only 15? Never mind. She’s perfect.

      • SewingSiren

I wonder if she has the same stylist has Taraji P. Henson. The nails being the give away.

    • SewingSiren

      Carmen Miranda realness.

      • Amanda Herriott Welliver

The big fruit-bowl bun on the top of the head makes it work for me.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

I do love this print…either the bare midriff or the peplum, but not both.

    • MartyBellerMask

Pretty much perfect, but she looks an awful lot like Leighton Meester, no?

    • Ten Ten

The shoes are too heavy, but I like this look.

Another celeb who may be able to pull this off is Rita Ora.

    • korilian

Just a bit too much, but I do kind of dig it.

      • mmc2315

Right? I object to the midriff, the peplum, the lip color, the nails….but….defying all rationality, I do kind of dig it.

    • AmeliaEve

Adorbs! And I think the shoes go with the 1940s feel. But I can’t unsee that nipple flower.

    • j_anson

I sincerely hope that someday I’ll be able to internalize that her name really IS Bella Thorne and she’s not being referred to by her character’s name from some Twilight or Anne Rice adaptation.

    • Gaby

Huh, I have an outfit very similar to this, but without the cap sleeves and peplum, in flat red linen. Maybe that’s why I’m responding well to this. I think the peplum and sleeves make it go a little too far with the pattern though; it’s a lotta look.

    • caitlincactus

pass this on to bing bing!

    • jmorino08

Her face looks like a mannequin and she is not far enough along in her fashion schooling to pull that dress off.

    • pop_top

      She looks like Leighton Meester.

It kind of looks like a costume.

    • CarolinLA

She looks like a geisha who ran out of material.

Is she related to Hank Moody’s ex-wife from Californication?

    • Imasewsure

Ridiculous hair to go with the ridiculous changes she had made to that dress

    • Danielle Lisle

It looks like a bunch of eyeballs winking at me.

    • MGMcD

Against my instincts and better judgment, I love this. I cant explain it. Its ballsy.

    • Mimi

Great pattern but the midriff and peplum are odd – necklace is too much -and should one’s hair color match their outfit when one’s outfit is orange?

    • KC

I don’t like the midrif but I’m kinda feeling this look. She looks so fun!! Sometimes you gotta go funky and fun!

    •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      What? No. And stop it.

    • Ass Kicking Adviser

I like it better with the midriff. Otherwise it would swallow her. But I hate the hair. I just cannot abide a topknot. Not on anyone.

    • Anniebet

I swear I read the first blurb as “Bella Thorne attacks the premiere of ‘Iron Man 3′. It looks like alien camouflage.

    • Trisha26

She looks like a Western Geisha – and not in a good way. Peplum. Midriff. Bowl of Noodles Hair. YIKES!

    • pookiesmom

      This dress drowns her.

    • demidaemon

Is this supposed to show midriff? Because the model version does not seem to have it. The length also seems off to. It looks like it got shrunk in the wash. I know this is a very bold pattern, but I think the midriff is hurting it more than it just being a single block of fabric.

    • Waruna Kannangara
    • PeaceBang

Hostess at Disney World’s Polynesian Village. The waitress will be right over with your flaming pineapple drink.

    • Warrior89

Eh, she looks fine (if too made-up), but what I want to know is why this marginally talented Nickelodeon kid is suddenly being featured in photos. She’s like 15.

    • save_the_hobbit

No no no no. She’s 15 and is on Disney channel. The midriff and just blatant sexual undertones need to stop. She’s a very pretty girl, but I honestly thought she was hot for a few seconds before I remembered she’s 15 DAMN YEARS OLD. Just no. Hollywood needs to stop sexualizing children.

    • ccm800

      wardrobe malfunction

    • librarygrrl64

The strip of skin ruins it. Tacky.

    • lrhoff

I think this is adorable…..she looks very fresh.

    • guest2visits

This is cute, but making it a two piece now looks more like she should be handing out lei’s and drinks at the hotel.
