AnnaSophia Robb at Kiehl’s Event

Posted on April 18, 2013

This is kind of cute.

AnnaSophia Robb attends Kiehl’s launch of an Environmental Partnership Benefiting Recycle Across America in Santa Monica, California.

It’s got a slight ’80s feel to it, with all the bold splashes of color, but the shape is pure modern. Since her people seem to think it’s best for her to dress a bit like her character, we suppose this is a pretty good way to go. It reminds you of the ’80s without looking like a costume.

On the other hand, those just may be the ugliest shoes we’ve seen all year. SERIOUSLY ugly. Make-you-cry ugly.

Also, the hem’s too long, but we’re getting really sick of saying that.

I’m getting a wee bit of a 20s/30s Clarice Cliff ‘bright and bold design’ vibe from the frock – I like it!

    • gabbilevy

Harumph. Disappointed. The dress is cute, but she trips up on the details.

    • hmariec19

From the knees up, she looks delightful.

But goddammit, those shoes are hurting my feelings. I think I need to consult some food about this.

I kind of love the shoes, just NOT with this dress. The dress is cute, but yes, it needs to be hemmed.

      • http://twitter.com/abcdefghijadzia Jadzia

Yeah, I think the shoes could be cute with pants, maybe skinny jeans? Or possibly with an all-one-color maxi dress. Also, they look wayyy too big for her, just look where her toes start relative to the toe box on the shoe! That always makes shoes look worse.

        • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Yep, I’d totally rock these with a pair of skinny jeans.

      • VicD

I’ll take those shoes over hooves any day of the week.

      • zuzu

The shoes might have worked had they been solid colorblocks. But the delicate print fights against the larger print in her dress, and the colors are off.

      • http://twitter.com/Sugarbeetle Sugarbeetle

I think the shoes are cute. I see them with a cute pair of khaki shorts and a crisp white top.

      • http://onionjam.tumblr.com SkipperJane

Count me as another who likes the shoes, just not with a tight, below-the-knees dress. I’m seeing them with khaki shorts and a white button down. Maybe even throw in a fedora for a full “Coachella” look.

    • RuthGo

I’m sad to hear you say that about those shoes because they’re Aldo brand, the style is Lucyna and I’ve been determined to get them once they go on sale. Of course, I’ll wear them with a jean skirt and t-shirt or solid color dress knocking around my neighborhood, not on the red carpet.

      • lizlemonglasses

        But “they’re made of wicker!”

        • Meg0GayGuys6

(I read that in Jack Geller’s, “Of course the knife went through the shoe; they’re made of wicker!” voice) hehe

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Thanks for the shoe details. I might have to get a pair myself.

      • Tatiana Luján

Ireally like those shoes. They just don’t go with Anna Sophia’s outfit.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

AnnaSophia MARIA Robb! Take those abysmal shoes off this instant! What were you thinking, young lady?

      • lizlemonglasses

As an “Angela Marie,” let me just say, you nailed it!

    • teensmom99

Yup, she’s also observing “Dresses TeensGrandma would have bought for teensmom in the 80s” day. I think I had it and that’s how long it was. And I might have worn it with those shoes.

    • Clueless_Jock

      Stephen Sprouse snaps.

    • nannypoo

I hate this length. If it were hemmed an inch or two below the printed section it would be a lot more flattering. And her hair is just an afterthought. No kidding those are ugly shoes.

    • http://www.facebook.com/isadora.paiva.7 Isadora Paiva

I wouldn’t even say they are the ugliest shoes I’ve seen today, which is a testament to how ugly those hooves on Jennifer Morrison were. Yeah, these are also really ugly, but I guess I’m just a little more forgiving of ugly shoes when they look comfortable and don’t make your feet look like they belong to an animal. Having said that, they also seem to to be too big on her, which is less glaring when they’re not high heels, but it helps to give the effect of clown feet.

      • Tatiana Luján

Shoes that “make your feet look like they belong to an animal”. Thanks a lot, you made my day.

    • lizlemonglasses

Why is it the 80s again?! :::flings self off Internet:::

      • Sarah

Because, it is the doom of all adults to experience the ghastly and embarrassing years of their youth as re-imagined through the fashion vagaries of the next generation. I cannot tell you how much crap I got from my mother in the early 90′s when I was a senior in high school and she thought it was ridiculous that I wanted to wear bell-bottoms (Ala Dee-Lite).

    • Anathema_Device

The dress is too long on her, for sure. The shoes are wrong for the dress, but I kind of like them for some reason.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I really like the shoes. Picture them with skinny jeans or something. Then they might work.

    • RebeccaKW

I’ve just sat staring at those shoes, not believing she purposefully put those on and left her house.

    • hughman

Yeah, the Incan slippers are kind of weird. THROW HER IN THE VOLCANO!

    • http://twitter.com/JenCanRead Jen

I love those shoes. Not with the dress, but maybe with like a button up and some skinny jeans.

      • carnush

        I agree. They’re super cute.

    • Trisha26

What’s left to say? Cut it off just above the knee (burn the shoes) and it’s a cute look.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I don’t care how ugly the shoes are – I am just loving the return of sensible height heels.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Nope. Not loving the shoes, with this dress or at all. The dress is cute, but the shoes kind of kill it.

    • MilaXX

      Those shoes win the fig-Olympics.

    • alyce1213

Ditto on the length, should be at the knee or just above.
I like the shoes, they’re kind of sweet.
They repeat some of the color of the dress, but with a different pattern, so as not to be too matchy.

    • amaranth16

If by “kind of cute” you mean “completely grotesque.” That dress is like nerf camouflage vomit.

      • Celandine1

Hahaha it is a nerf camo print! That’s a great description.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

      It’s kindergarten camouflage!

    • BrooklynBomber

It IS kind of cute. Praise the lord!

    • crash1212

I don’t hate the shoes. I hate them with this dress. Any flat would’ve looked awful with that hemline/shape.

    • Aly Light

I immediately coveted those shoes. To each their own, eh?

    • conniemd

I’m thinking the top would look cute with black pants. It is a long tunic, so if the skirt is shorter, the top would overwhelm it.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I immediately loved those shoes, though they don’t work with that dress.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

I would love those shoes but without the blue coloration.

    • Martha Jones

I may be wrong about this, but I think she’s pulling off the coral lipstick.

    • Anniebet

She obviously lost a paintball match. Her booby prize was the shoes.

    • Imasewsure

I’m going to start supporting the professional stylists here. It must have been her choice to wear these hiddy shoes with this cute-enough dress…she is cute though

    • Cindy Claussen

The shoes look like 4 sizes too big

    • bd73

will someone do a shoot with her, seyfried and the elder fanning so we can see the side by side and figure out the differences? i found a pic of liz taylor and jean simmons chatting and really helped me tell them apart. also, um, shakira and beyonce. it’s so confusing.

    • Margaret Davis

Strappies and about 4″ shorter, u gotta a werq.

    • jmorino08

I think this is how Dianna Agron thinks she looks as she attempts to thwart the sex symbol mythology. She should fire her stylists and hire Baby Carrie’s!

    • quiltrx

Cute dress, really flattering for her. Yes, it could be shorter.
I’m actually pretty sure we’ve seen worse shoes than those this year. Those clear “I see your sweaty toe jam” Louboutins come to mind.

    • http://twitter.com/jalae Janey

I love how everytime she’s photographed her smile is so big and happy it just lights up the room/photograph.

    • tallgirl1204

As a flats-only wearing person, I love those shoes. So hard to find cheerful girly non-ballet flats. And also love the dress. Concur about the length though.

    • pulpytomato

She’s cute. Her style is colorful and fun. If you hemmed this dress and she put on “pretty” shoes, this look becomes infinitely less interesting. I like it the way it is.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I love the shoes. Cute and keep the dress cas. The whole outfit is working for me – though I could have taken a tone-down on the lip color.

    • Little_Olive

      Scrolldown wtf.

    • http://remedialstitcher.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

This would be great if the black ended just two or three inches below the print. Then the shoes might work better with it.

    • http://twitter.com/missbethg Beth Ann Gallagher

The dress looks very cute on her. Its print is like feminized camo crossed with a bit of tropical.

    • http://twitter.com/lisledanielle Danielle Lisle

Shorten the hem, remove the shoes. Voila!

    • J Swanson

it makes me so happy that i went, “hmm it’s a little long and the shoes suck”, then scrolled down to see that was exactly what T Lo said. Gah!!! I’m finally learning!!!
