Fresh, modern, young, classy. love. Maaaayybe raise the hemline an inch or two.

  • aeb1986

I never noticed how striking her eyes were. Besides that, I don’t particularly like anything else here. Although, I will say, she pulls off those bangs better than I’ve seen anyone else do it..

    • Violina23

I think the hair color is really bringing out her eyes — I like that a lot. Dress is a bit more daring than I’ve seen her in, but it doesn’t do anything for me, and neither do the bangs.

But my head is still ready to explode that she’s engaged to Pete Campbell (Or, as I first knew him, Connor, the whiny little sh*t from “Angel”)

  • alyce1213

I don’t think there’s anything good about this dress, which is trying to be chic but not succeeding. The odd cap sleeves make her shoulders look narrow, the construction of the skirt makes her look too wide through the hips, it’s a bit too long, and I won’t even mention the copycat waist cutouts, which I hate. (Oops, I mentioned them.)

  • MilaXX

NOT YOUR DRESS….. and honestly, not your hairstyle either.

  • Ruth Preston

I barely recognized her with that big smile and the booms. Dress is okay, though the sleeves remind me of surgical masks.

  • schadenfreudelicious

    Sorry Rory…it’s a no..

  • Sarah

YAWN. But she’s cute. And I don’t mind her bangs.

    • Yeah, I love her bangs, but I’m so over the messy hair look. And the dress…blehhh

  • TheAmericaness

Hold on, let me go pin this dress together and let you know how I like it personally.

  • Nicholas

It’s as if she attended as her Mad Men character, no?

    • Donna Tabor

      She’s in Mad Men?

      • Rebecca Jay

She’s the crazy lady Pete slept with – wife of his train mate. Now she and Pete-in-real-life are engaged.

        • Donna Tabor

Thanks for the info. I don’t get to watch Mad Men until it comes to Netflix or whatever, so I haven’t seen it yet.

          • Season 5 is on Netflix now!

        • Little_Olive

I hope Pete in real life is NOTHING like his character, because I am really fond of her (maybe she is a bitch and I’m totally off here)

        • I did not know this. Interesting….

    • charlotte

That’s what I was thinking. And I can’t believe that she is actually going to marry Vincent Kartheiser!

      • cowper

Rory and Pete? That I have to wrap my brain around…

        • ohayayay

Ugh…as T.Lo noted, they look like they could be brother and sister!

  • The black part of the dress isn’t terrible, but the white part is doing her chest and shoulders NO favours. Those shoes are geriatric — my 86-year-old great aunt has remarkably similar ones.

  • too much underarm exposure.

  • and the dress is just plain awful.

  • hughman

    The Trying Nun.

    • hughman, I’ve got to ask, who is that in your icon? looks a little like Julie Newmar, but what role? 🙂

      • hughman

        I actually don’t know! Sorry! 🙂

        • Thanks both! I can’t believe I didn’t recognize her! Now I’ve got to look that up, that is, brush up my Shakespeare! 🙂

      • lifetime_student

Actually, hughman’s icon is Vivien Leigh as Lady Anne in Richard III, 1948.

  • marilyn

Even though she does not have an ounce of fat on her, the straight line across her waist makes her hips look big. She is a cute girl. I don’t think this style of cut out at the waist flatters anyone, even the skinniest runway model.

    • I agree. There’s a distinct broadening effect in the hip area. I don’t like the dress, but I love her hair and makeup. On second thought, the bangs are a bit too long.

  • another_laura

Nope. Sloppy wrinkly top and I am waaaay over side panels.

  • nannypoo

Here we see Zooey Deschanel’s long lost twin sister wearing a dress made of scraps from other dresses – parts of sleeves, parts of a bodice – sadly none of it fitting her or flattering her in any way.

  • Project Runway one-day challenge winner.

    • alyce1213

I thought PR challenge as well – but maybe not the winner — just Safe.

  • Trisha26

I wish designers would start buying enough fabric…

  • formerlyAnon

No. She’s not pulling off the midriff and the top looks ill-fitting, though based on the shot of the model it probably isn’t. It’s just not going to look good on anyone of normal human proportions. And skirt needs to be a tad bit shorter.

  • Girl_With_a_Pearl

I actually like her hairstyle. I am trying to figure out if her eyes are very intense or if there’s photoshop involved. I’ll just say that her outfit is unusual and leave it at that.

    • bd73

      her eyes are very intense

  • carolclark12

Is it bad lighting, or does she have bruises near/at her armpits?

  • demidaemon

Are those waist cutouts? If they are, will somebody please find the designer and cut off one of his sewing fingers for this atrocity?

  • stubbornthoughts

I wish it didn’t have those cutouts because it would’ve been a chic little number. Sorry, Rory.

  • CCAdams

Alexis Bedel was an absolute delight on ‘The Gilmore Girls’ in which se played younger than her age. So I think she is maturing with grace.

I agree that this hair color does a marvelous job enhancing her blue eyes. And, her makeup is working for her. Seen head-on, her hair is flattering.

Bummer that hair and clothing are seen from odd angles. What was the thinking about that hair from the sides and behind?

Probably there are less flattering outfits and shoes shown by T&Lo today, but you would almost need to use Maggie Gyllenhall as the comparison.

Alexis, Sweetie, find any other stylist!

    • bellafigura1

Also great as the electro shock therapy suburban wife on Mad Men. This is one beautiful young woman who is waaay off the mark with this look. Granny-esque, and the bangs, or what where they called earlier? Bom boms? Boom booms? I dunno, but ugh, they are terrible. My Aunt Pat, circa 1988.

  • Imasewsure

    hate this dress

  • copper

i really want to see the back of this dress..

  • bd73

the dress is interesting and looks much better on her than the model. but she does have that amazing hourglass/sylph thing going on. the shoes don’t match and i generally hate her hair anything but straight. can’t figure why they have such a hard time getting it right, but it’s not like i’ve handled the texture personally.

  • Those sleeves are stupid.

What’s with the flaps? And the belly cut outs that make people look wider? And the frumpy stumpies?

    Heck, the whole thing’s stupid.

  • lrhoff

  • stephbellard

Only Pete Campbell would tap that.

  • quiltrx

I was so on board with this til we got to the shitty cutouts.
It’s official–I’m calling shitty cutouts “hell holes” from now until this godawful trend is over.

  • ChristinaRi

What happened to the stark white of the original? That was so much better.

  • frannyprof

Super duper unflattering in every way. What celebulady wants to wear a dress that highlights her armpits?,

  • calimon

It’s the armpit reveal that ruins it for me.

  • Frank Lithium

  • kathrineb

Not loving the hair. This dress would be better with different sleeves.

  • Claudia

Rory! I don’t really like the dress, but I’m so happy to see her beautiful face again.

  • She is so pretty. She was always a cute kid/young woman, but wow. She’s a knockout. This dress doesn’t fit right across the top. It looks wrinkled.

  • Jessica O’Connell

Alexis Bledel, I’m a fan of yours. You rarely make appear in anything anymore. Then the first time in a while that you make a red carpet appearance, you wear something with side cutouts?? Why? What did I do to you?
