WERQ: Nicole Kidman in Oscar de la Renta

Posted on March 25, 2013

Gotta say, this caused the much-sought-after Gay Gasp to erupt from us.

Nicole Kidman attends the Omega Gala ‘La Nuit Enchantee’ at Gartenpalais Liechtenstein in Vienna, Austria in an Oscar de la Renta gown paired with a Roger Vivier clutch and a Omega watch.

Oscar de la Renta Fall 2013 Collection/Model: Catherine McNeil

Girl, that is SO your dress. In fact, we’re not sure any other lady could rock this dress as well as she’s rocking it. We were going to throw out a question as to whether she should have worn the drag-queeny, Adam’s-apple-hiding bit of sheer netting around her neck, thinking it was some kind of scarf, but closer examination reveals that the neckpiece is actually part of the dress. We would have liked the look better without it, but the overall effect of this look is so stunning that we can’t withhold our finger-snaps. It helps that her face and hair haven’t looked that flawless in a while.

You WERQ that movie star elegance, girl! PRINCESS GRACE SERENE HIGHNESS SNAPS.

I was about to say, she’s probably pulling out all the stops in prep for her Princess Grace poll dance.

    • Kristalbailey

      Best she’s looked in ages!

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      Very lovely.
Though the men’s watch is frustrating me.

    • aeb1986

wow- sorry model, you just got OWNED!

    • http://www.two-halves.com/ Michelle Le

it’s nice to see her face move again.

      • NoGovernmentName

What makes you think her face is moving? I see two versions of the same face: one with lips parted, one with lips closed. Her skin looks like it has been ironed, and her cheek filler is really blatant. However, she *IS* WERQing this dress.

        • http://twitter.com/MindsMelding Anya&Paul

If not moving, at least this face has settled down a bit.

    • j_anson

The dress is awesome. Her current hair iteration is doing her no favors. As a girl with a similarly high forehead, I sympathize. :

    • lrober03

Hate the neck piece, but she looks great. Hair and makeup are perfect

    • MK03

      DAMN. KILLIN’ IT.

      • calimon

Yeah, totally, huh? I sort of pity that poor dress…MURDER! MURDER! :oP

    • charlotte

This is definitely a WERQ, my only quibble is the watch.

    • Trisha26

Gorgeous! Don’t like the “sprayed within an inch of its life” flat hair though – it should be glossy & beautiful all over.

    • nannypoo

This dress has a lot of things I don’t like in a dress: black lace over a nude lining, a crotch-like design on the crotch area, an uncomfortable-looking neck treatment, and Nicole Kidman, to name just a few, but I really have to say she looks fabulous in it. Her makeup is pretty and so is her oversprayed hair.

      • Little_Olive

Agree on all counts! I love it when someone saves me the writing part. Also: porcelain doll.

    • kmk05

I prefer the dress shape on the model: the shoulders are less far apart and there is extra sheer fabric there too. It looks slightly less A-line as well. But they’re minor quibbles, really: Nicole looks stunning and her makeup is flawless.

    • http://twitter.com/omg_dora Dora K.

For once her hair is as creepy and plastic as the rest of her (although the color is an improvement). The dress is awkward and looked much better on the model.

    • Coolekat

I think she has a watch contract with ? Therefore the watch.

    • http://www.facebook.com/AdriannaGrezak Adrianna Grężak

Quite beautiful, but I think the neck scarf detail cheapens it

    • http://twitter.com/TVcastingcall Reality TV Casting

UUUUUUH WERqqqqq love the signtaure kdiman watch on this one, gives it a bit of wit…. bitch as places to BE

    • Maryanne525

LOVE the fact that she’s finally back from white blonde hair! I think she looks amazing! And correct me if I’m wrong, but she’s the Omega spokeswoman, correct? That’d be why she’s wearing the watch, errybody.

    • http://twitter.com/bert_keeter bert keeter

Besides the wonky armholes…That’s a TEN!

    • Qitkat

Nicole, you fabulous bitch you! Where have you been?

    • conniemd

Curly hair at last! Thank you Nicole’s gays.

      • http://twitter.com/NJedwina Edwina

This! I always loved her lustrous curly locks that she has suppressed for so many years.

      • Introspective

Indeed. Half of this werq is that her hair is actually not a fried flat ironed mess which has been her rc go to hairdo for waaay too long. The bouncy curls plus the killer fit on this exquisite de la renta knocks this out of the park. Snaps!

    • formerlyAnon

I am not a fan of sheer lace (or almost-lace), as a rule. But when a dress makes a woman look 6’4″, elegant, and a millimeter away from “willowy,” that dress is a winner!

      • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

As she’s 5’11″ and wearing heels, I’d guess she’s not that far from 6’4″! But this dress is certainly showing it off, that’s for sure.

        • MilaXX

If she’s wearing the 5 inch heels so many lady celebs wear these days then she is 6’4″

    • unbornfawn

I don’t like that neck thing on the dress, the dress is fabulous without it. She looks stunning. I can’t remember when I’ve seen her smile that big. She should do it more often. It suddenly makes me like her.

    • MilaXX

When she is on her game, she really can werq a look. Love all of this! Hair & makeup are gorg,

    • Peeve

Finally! She got rid of the stick-straight awful blond hair and looks like herself again. She looks terrific, the way someone with that face and body should always look, but rarely does.

    • Janet B

      Gorgeous.

      Love the lace.

    • squiggles

I especially love the gleeful “I am not married to Tom Cruise” look she has in the second to last photo. Best she has looked in awhile.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

Well admittedly, it has been awhile since she was married to him. But I agree.

Also love her hair color. I think (?) her natural color is strawberry blonde, which is so pretty when it’s natural (rare); I can’t imagine changing it.

    • kathrineb

Pretty… and the softer hair is really working for her!

    • Coco Cornejo

That thing around her neck made me think, oh no she’s hiding a turkey neck under there. It’s aging.

    • E. D.

      YAAAAY!

Also, is the muppet-flail the straight version of the Gay Gasp?

    • carolynmo

That gown is exquisite. The workmanship boggles the mind.

    • Crystal

I’m just excited that she can move her face.

      • http://twitter.com/DuBey2 Marie Fessler

        So is she, apparently.

    • MandyM

I agree that she looks very pretty. She needed that netting at the top to hide the Frankenstein line where she screwed on her new head. You know that’s not the one she was born with. She must change them out from time to time.

    • Tigerfly

Holy shit, she looks AMAZING. Wow.

    • CT14

In the second to last pic, she looks like she heard the snaps!

      Happiest she’s looked in ages.

      • http://twitter.com/DuBey2 Marie Fessler

When I saw that picture, even I heard the snaps!

    • guest2visits

She could definitely do without the neck-scarf (it ages the look) but she looks gorgeous anyway.

    • CarolinLA

She needs to figure out some sort of monologue to run in her head when she’s on the red carpet that has happier thoughts because she always looks so tense.

    • Anniebet

So. Tired. Of. Black. Lace. Over. Nude. But, it looks great on her. Wish we had a back view.

    • Toto Maya

It’s her hair. She wears a lot of really fabulous dresses, but her flat, nasty hair almost always ruins the look IMO. She looks fabulous here, and I’m barely even noticing the dress.

    • http://twitter.com/DuBey2 Marie Fessler

Love it and love her red (OK, strawberry blonde) hair with curl. Total WERQ. BTW, I have no idea what that stands for.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

      Stunning.

    • MissAmynae

      Glamourpuss!!!

and the neck scarf ties and then falls in a lovely line down her back. Wish we had a back view here, because its real classic beauty. Soft and lovely, and she looks younger than she has in a while. Relaxed, happy, and comfortable.

    • PeaceBang

She’s so beautiful and alive it’s just making me misty-eyed. Wow, Mrs. Urban! Way to go!

    • Contralto

      fabulous!

    • http://twitter.com/jamiehoovs JLH

She looks wonderful although I am still longing for the hair color/eyebrows I associate with her Moulin Rouge days. I don’t think she has ever looked more stunning than that time in her career. But again, she deserves the WERQ here.

    • Imasewsure

She looks gorgeous. I don’t mind the scarf thing because she can WERQ it! Think this would actually work for many other (lithe, amazonian, incredibly beautiful) women but not any better than this!

    • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

I like this dress because I can imagine her hottest role, Satine, wearing this. WERQ IT.

    • Damien W

Best makeup/hair she’s had in eons. Forget about Bewitched — that there is some serious Elizabeth Montgomery realness, FOUR NOSE TWITCHES!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I could have done without the sheer scarf around her neck. Her smile is making me smile. WERQ!!

    • Tuneful54

Now that’s a movie star. Bravo. The biggest improvements for me are that neither her makeup nor hair are that awful drab nude, although the dress is, but I actually like the black lace over it.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

LOVE. IT. Miss Nicole is looking GORGE here.

    • lobsterlen

Wow talk about happy. With a smile like that she could be full length dish towel and it be WERQ. The gown is icing on the cake.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/37TPKASIMXVUPYK5BNQFOL43KU Carina

Drop dead gorgeous. Statuesque and stunning! Good to know she’s still got it.

    • http://kingderella.tumblr.com/ kingderella

wow. i cant remember the last time her face has looked so… sane.

anyway, this is a deserved WERQ, and i think the “scarf” makes the look. its so drag-fabulous.

    • Alyssa

She looks drop dead gorgeous. Best hair & makeup I’ve seen on her in quite some time. WERQ!!!

    • l_c_ann

      Wowser.

    • ellabob

      Yep – she nailed it…

    • http://www.facebook.com/judy.julian77 Judy Julian

Wow….best I’ve seen her look in quite awhile. Gorgeous!

    • ScarlettHarlot

I almost loved it all, but it lost me at the neck. Her hair is fabulous.

    • MoreShoes

I don’t like Kidman but this is breathtaking. She looks stuuning. Everything is as it should be. Brava!

    • http://twitter.com/BrerAndy Andy Morris

Fabulous! She needs to ditch the straightened flat haired looks, the best I’ve ever seen her is when she had that ‘Gilda’ hairdo in Moulin Rouge- this is in the same wheelhouse, much better than the sleek robot look.

    • EEKstl

      Fabulousness. Hair is stunning.

    • stubbornthoughts

Everything is divine! That is the epitome of a movie star right there.

    • warnerave

nice..and her face is now much more relaxed..

    • m0r0

You can see by the look on her face she KNOWS she looks FABULOUS

    • marilyn

The only thing I question is why a woman in a dress like that, going to a glamorous ball, would wear a watch at all. If she wears one, it should be as glamorous as the dress.

    • http://profiles.google.com/denise.alden Denise Alden

Am I the only one who sees nipples?

    • maggiemaybe

So glad she went back to a more ginger hair color! The blonde was doing her no favors…

    • Rrroza

Prefer on the model the way the sheer flows over neckline and shoulders, but this truly is WERQ.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=535548244 Kim Baker Vidas Davey-Irvin

wow. she looks GREAT. she even looks like NICOLE KIDMAN. that hasn’t happened for a while.

    • Tamara Hogan

      A gasp well-deserved. Love it.

    • ccm800

None for me thanks. The liner is so heavy and weird to me. I kind of deplore lace over full length liner

    • http://twitter.com/chylde chylde

Trout lips be gone! She looks fantastic. So pleased she’s back to her old self, and she should age quite nicely from here on out.

    • calimon

      Indeed!

    • http://twitter.com/uyeahu Michelle Wilson

She looks happy, relaxed and gorgeous. I’m glad she’s stopped messing with her face.

    • MaryAtRealityTea

I think she looks lovely, but the hair is very, very June Cleaver aging and hard. Other than that perfect.

    • bd73

pretty, pretty, pretty. but the neck swath needs to go. just keep the basic dress. just lovely.

    • http://www.facebook.com/aboutelle Ashleigh Boutelle

For whatever reason, I quite like the scarfy part…I think it’s “classic”…

    • ThaliaMenninger

      Stunning.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Here is the thing about reading TLo. I see the photo and I think something, like “GASP” or what have you. I then scroll down and they’ve often, more often than not, written what was in my head. It’s like they live in my head. This is likely someplace that they would be screaming to leave, but for me, it makes me feel like they are old friends. Even when they have to patiently explain stuff to me that I should probably know already. So I did a big old GAY GASP when I saw this as well. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. TY TLo for putting it all up on the screen for us.

    • http://twitter.com/mannahattamamma MannahattaMamma

she looks like a really beautiful barbie: extraordinarily high unmoving forehead, tiny little tippy nose, perfect blue eyes. It’s a beautiful dress & a beautiful object inside the dress, but I wish she’d studied at the school of Helen Mirren for lessons on how to be beautiful in your own actual face & body.

    • leilah

Opened the post and thought, hmmm … then started the scroll and said, “GURRRRLLLL … you’re workin’ the SHIT outta that dress!! Looking at the model, how did Nicole transform the dress, while the dress totally transformed her??? This is the best Nic’s looked in AGES … Keith is gonna need a stand-in!

    • leftcoastpickle

Holy cow, batman, this is the best she’s ever looked to me! Snaps all around!!

      • Derek_anny

Personally, I think she looked best as consumptive Satine. But that was on a movie screen, so I don’t expect continuity with real life. This is beautiful.
