That’s a HORRIBLE length on her, it looks like she slept in the dress, and the silly-putty pumps were a truly unimaginative choice. Hello – GOLD heels or strappy sandals?? But hey, I think SHE’s beautiful.

      • EditKitten

The length is so … half-assed. Either go to the floor, or do knee-length. But this middling stuff — blech.

      • kikisayshi

The length wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so full at the bottom. I feel like it should be tapered in or something (not sure what the “fashion” term for that would be). Otherwise, it’s a nice dress.

    • imperfectlaura

I would like this better on her when she was a redhead. As it is, it is very washed out.  Also not a huge fan of the length.

And the silly putty shoes are not my fave.

    • Gabriella M

Felicity Huffman is looking quite refreshed these days.
Just kidding. I have no idea who this is, and while I like her dress (though it seems a little too complicated for its own good), I feel like her hair and makeup is making her look about a decade older than she is. With this styling, she could also pass for SJP’s older sister, and given that SJP is the older of the two, well…

      • Donna Tabor

She was in In the Air with George Clooney and Anna Kendricks.

      • ampg

Yeah, Vera Farmiga has one of those mature faces – she probably was able to get into bars as a teenager without getting carded.  So now that she’s actually a little older (pushing 40, I think), she has to be careful with styling or she adds a decade by accident.

    • Cindi Williams

I like this dress, but I think it doesn’t fit Vera. She has too many gaps in the stomach and bust area.

    • Kiltdntiltd

      Wrong for her coloring.
      Wrong choice of shoe.
That sheer crepe is photographing like she slept in it.
      Wrong length for her.

      Just,.. well,…wrong.

      • mary McCall

        Yeah- what you said.

    • Annabelle Archer

Scroll down fug.  Which breaks my heart because she is one of my favorite actresses.

    • Maluca

I like it. But the length is strange.

    • gabbilevy

Ugh, if only this fit… and she wore better shoes. It’s really pretty and breezy on the model, terrible on Vera.

    • MilaXX

I thought the dress was passable until I got to the hem/shoe combo. Just awful.

      • Catiline

Yeah, I was okay with the outfit until I got to that part too, and then it was a total needle-scratch.

    • mmc2315

Girl, that is not your dress!

You are very pretty.  Go get yourself a better frock.

    • SassieCassy

length and fit make her look dumpy and color is not for a pale blonde. but I AM interested in her new show.

      • Sobaika

It looks good! I’m tired of the rehash trend but she’s a great actress so I have high hopes.

      • 3boysful

Bingo on color and dump factor.  Look how thin she is in the side view–then look how wide she looks front-on!  The half a sheer overlay is just dumb.

I am sorry, because I have always liked CH.

Also, Vera, find yourself a stylist who can do you a cuter shoe–strappy gold, maybe?

    • Emily Dagger

The dress is too long for her (and also the model); the fabric is too heavy for the cut of the dress.

But I love the hell out of her, and have since she was in the (mercifully) short lived American adaptation of Touching Evil.

    • MinAgain

I don’t like it all that much, and it doesn’t fit her properly.  Also, from the still shot of the model, it doesn’t look like the dress moves well.

    • Alexandra Simons

Girl, that is not your dress!!! She’s drowning in this look. It’s a bad mashup of a tablecloth and old kitchen curtains. OUT!!!

    • kschwarting

She’s very pretty, and a phenomenal actress, but that outfit is not doing her any favors.  Brown hair suits her better as well–between the white dress and blonde hair here, she looks completely washed out.

    • Tanya Wade

I can’t wait to see her play Christine McVie, she looks so much like her in these pictures. Love the hair, hate the shoes.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

I don’t even like this dress much on the model, but at least she had on appropriate shoes!

    • joything

Don’t like it on the model, either.  If the print fabric had been allowed to dominate the white, and it were a bit shorter, I think it would have worked better.

    • conniemd

Dress would have been prettier cut off at knees. Not only is length wrong, but it’s overstyled at the bottom, too.

    • aeb1986

way too stiff on the bottom. she looks pretty on top though

    • NYCGlamourpuss

It’s gotta go either a little longer, or knee length.  The length it’s at is all wrong, plus it’s a little wrinkled.

    • PastryGoddess

Maybe if this was in any color other than white….

    • NurseEllen

Chop off the bottom 12″ or so of that dress and it would become a lot better right away.  I do love her hairstyle!

    • kimmeister

I saw the top half and thought, “It’s elegant, if a little Grand Dame-ish” and then I scrolled down to see the skirt was made out of a tablecloth.  Noooo.  The eye makeup is also troubling.

Ship the dress and the ‘do off to Meryl Streep.

    • Emily Smith

      awkward hem length is awkward.

    • Erica_Vuitton

She really needed to talk Carolina into 1. letting her borrow the belt and 2. chopping the length.

The fabric looks wrinkled even on the model but also heavy and almost bridal on her. Not yo dress girl.

    • libraangel

Why did I scroll down? Why?! A-o.k. until I saw that length on Vera – wrong!

    • Indigo54

a little too tight thru the hips. skirt is threatening to ride up as she walks.  Pretty blah outfit really.

    • Aidan B

I almost like it, but the (lack of) color washes her out. And the shoes were a TERRIBLE choice. For as soft as the dress is, the pointy shape is way too harsh.

    • Susan Collier

      Tablecloth couture!

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

What a great challenge for Project Runway!

    • MissMariRose

      Overworked and underwhelming.

    • E. D.

Don’t like the belt or shoes, the length of the skirt or the cream appliques.  Too bad.

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

scrolldown fug for sure. Damn shame too, b/c the top half is just lovely.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

She was great in “The Boy In The Stripped Pajamas”.  I think I like her better as a brunette, though.

    • YayaGurl

She filmed a movie in my store so I have a total girl crush on her but this outfit is fug.

    • jennsilentcrow

      oddly grandmotherly.

      • amf0001

I was going with weirdly mumsy in my head,  but yours works too :)

    • Sara__B

If she’d gone up a size, chosen a color, and styled it differently … too many ifs. That’s just the wrong gown for her.

    • Maya

      length is all wrong!

    • ChaquitaPhilly

The top isn’t too bad but it’s just soooo loooong!
      So Long,

    • bertkeeter

    • greyhoundgirl

Is she too short for these proportions?

    • Louise Bryan

Repurposed white jeans to Edwardian tea dress, except there wasn’t enough fabric for sleeves, and she left the jacket at home.

    • crash1212

Would be totally on board with this look if it were shorter – not a great length on her. Interesting dress and I love the hair and make-up. She’s so purdy.

    • Qitkat

Anyone considering watching this show? I saw an early preview, and it has possibilities. Fine young actor playing Norman. She seems to do creepy with conviction. Not as weird as this season’s AHS but in that genre certainly.

I like the dress a lot. Very flattering and pretty bodice/neckline, interesting fabric combining in the skirt. A bit too long for her height. Feels updated 40s to me, would make a great summery go to dinner or cruise dress, especially if the skirt were a tiny bit fuller and shorter.

    • chitowndg

Is this another case of a starlet not hemming a lended dress?

    • ThisMeredithianLife

Wow, I love this. It does look mature because of the length but still textured and interesting because of that off-white design on it. Plus, it fits her so well that she doesn’t look frumpy. I would love to see “mature” pulled off so well like this more often.

    • BobStPaul

      How unfortunate.

    • Brendan Foehr

Shoes and clutch are terrible. Everything above the waist? Striking. Everything below? I’m not gonna beat the dead “looks like a stapled-on bed sheet” horse any longer, so let’s just say IT AIN’T 1918 ANYMORE, VERA. You can show your ankles and smoke cigarettes and vote now, too. I’m sure she’ll be super relieved to know that the Great War is finally over.

    • Danielle Lisle

      Not with those shoes.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

She looks like a hostess for an geriatric luxury cruise. Gorgeous woman, though, just gorgeous.

    • Trisha26

Too long, terrible shoes, Prefer the runway look’s casual styling.

    • bd73

interesting. i like it, but don’t love it. it needs one elemant that pops.

    • LaSylphide

Dowdy and unflattering, especially the (non)color. Really looks more like beach wear on the model.

    • gillian holroyd

Everyone has already commented on the dress; I think her makeup here is truly unfortunate. When she first come on the scene, she had a very distinctive Eastern European look. Not that she shouldn’t vary her style but this, this is just horribly, anonymously bland.

    • Fatima Siddique

Scrolldown fug. The top half of the dress is rather nice, but the bottom is horrible. With the patchwork and the awkward hem length. And the shoes…what a non-event. My first thought was “barefoot with a good pedicure would have been better than those.”

    • rhl25

Looks like a tablecloth- the design of the fabric. My mom would love it for the christmas dinner table.

    • Jill

      What in the ??

    • teensmom99

I can see why a woman would buy that–I would have once upon a time.  And I can see why a stylist never should have let her buy it. Your mirror is your friend.

    • Carly Warnock

Length and the shoes need to go. That show looks freaky, definitely won’t be tuning in if I want to fall asleep at night.

    • guest2visits

The dress doesn’t live up to her beautiful face or physique. She looks great; the dress is shredded bed sheet.
