Tom Hiddleston in Emporio Armani

Posted on March 26, 2013

On the rare occasions we feature the Cumberbatch or the Hiddleston (which sound like two train stops), we always feel like Ed Sullivan introducing the Beatles. Like we’re expecting feminine shrieking and chairgasms at the mention of their names.

Well, here you go, ladies. Give us a second to step out of the way before you trample us.

Tom Hiddleston attends the Jameson Empire Awards at Grosvenor House  in London, England in an Emporio Armani suit.

You’re welcome.

You rock the SHIT out of that collar bar, boy. LOVE that. Although the tie’s knot is too small and we think there’s a bit too much of a split in the lower half of the jacket. Still: nice suit.

SQUEEEEEEE! I was hoping for Hiddleston after seeing that he gave Helen Mirren her award at this awards show.

I saw a photo of him on the tube earlier this week and he looked just this good!

Men everywhere: learn how to wear a suit!

ALSO: I’d gladly ride the Hiddleston/Cumberbatch Express. ;)

    • ScarlettHarlot

The combo of those two (Cumberston? Hiddlebatch?) was the only reason I watched War Horse.

It was not worth watching the whole movie, but as always they are both good, just fast forward to when Tom comes on screen, then stop watching when Benedict leaves.

      • julnyes

        too true.

    • Ziuskin

I actually have that picture of him riding the tube open in my tabs today, and it’s the only thing keeping me alive today. God, he is a tall drink of water, that man.

    • Airkisses

      I’d gladly ride Hiddleston! ;)

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

GREAT suit. I love the plaid (?), and the color, and the shirt and tie complete the look. The pants might be a teensy bit too long, but I am NOT disappointed.

    • mshesterp

      Windowpane, maybe?

    • StellaZafella

It’s a Tattersall (sp?) Plaid, sometimes referred to as Windowpane in the US and it’s the only suit plaid that doesn’t make me have to fight thinking of 70′s used car salesmen and anchormen.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Thank you. I was trying to think of “windowpane” and my brain gave up on me.

      • formerlyAnon

Thank-you. You’ve filled one of those weird knowledge gaps that bug for years without motivating one to remember to find out. I never knew a tattersall plaid was the same as windowpane plaid.

  • Rand Ortega

    Ahhhhhh….
Thanks, TLo. Like a tall, refreshing, sexual glass of iced English tea on a scorching summer’s day.

    • ScarlettHarlot

      Hahaha, yes, he’s so tall! (6′ 3″, I think?)

      • Jessi03

But he looks so teeny next to his big adopted brother Thor!

        • Meg0GayGuys6

Is he really that tall?! Those are some tasty brothers indeed.

          • ScarlettHarlot

Yes, he even auditioned for Thor. He’s tall and naturally blond, so he bulked up for the audition, only to have Kenneth Brannagh tell him he had to lose it all again to play Loki.

          • Rand Ortega

Perfect choice. His Loki– brooding, tortured, manipulative, made that stupid movie worth watching. Oh, & Idris Elba, of course!

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Not stupid! Amazing! And his Loki was so fantastic — in the comics, Loki and Thor go through a lot of bad times and do reconcile at some point(s) (have not read a lot of Thor… YET… so I’m not sure if it’s a permanent thing or not), and I thought the way he played Loki really made that believable… And now I’m going totally nerd and commenting on things that have nothing to do with anything, so…

          • Airkisses

That’s one audition tape I would LOVE to watch!

      • http://profiles.google.com/dorothymichael Dorothy & Michael n/a

You’re close. IMDB says he’s 6’2″. I’m partial to the tall guys. Two of my four brothers are 6’6″, and my son is 6’2″.

    • gabbilevy

Suddenly, I’m very thirsty for iced tea…

  • StellaZafella

He even gets away with having his hands in his pockets…although I really wish they were mine.
He looks perfectly comfortable and at his ease in a suit of clothes that lesser men would shrink from, though I don’t know why.

  • Alyssa

Mmmmmmmm, Hiddleston. Just what I needed to get me through this afternoon. And he looks so happy to be there (or maybe it’s to see me)!

  • http://www.facebook.com/RocketStarling Ashley Ellen Wilson

I honestly cannot see what the big deal about him is. Cumberbatch?….MAYBE. This guy? Meh.

    • Kristy Evans

Photos do not do him justice. Like Cumberbatch, it’s a combination of his voice (his velvety, magic voice) and his presence that make him so attractive.

      • ScarlettHarlot

Yes, his voice is melty magic. Listen to his audiobook of the Red Necklace. Mmm.

      • sockandaphone

ill give the cumberbatch fans that. the first time i heard his voice i was so surprised!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I think the Bitter Kittens have decided that Cumberbatch does not photograph well, but in motion + voice+ presence…is what makes that man so dang attractive.

      • H2olovngrl

        Spot on.

  • korilian

    Bless you! Bless this post!

  • MilaXX

This one’s okay, but I’m more a Cumberbatch type of gal.

    • Rand Ortega

“Parade’s End” –queue the Homer Simpson drool…
      OMG.

      • MilaXX

        you naughty boy!

  • mechanical_orange

When I first saw these pics I had NO idea what that thing was on his collar so thanks for telling me T-Lo! Also, good goddamn he is SO FINE.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I guess I’m so obsessed with Cumberbatch I have no idea who this guy is. I’d hit it. Just sayin’.

  • Judy_S

I dearly love Cumberbatch but not as a clotheshorse. You can kind of see him acting the fashionplate role, the way I used to see my son acting being a fielder in Little League (and then getting bored and daydreaming when the ball actually made it out there). Hiddleston on the other hand looks appropriately topnotch in a topnotch suit.

  • crash1212

Seriously. Does nothing for me. I must be the minority around here. He does rock that suit, though.

    • fursa_saida

Same. You should see what it’s like on tumblr. I usually feel like the only one in the whole universe. I mostly just want to pat him on the head.

    • lovelyivy

Understandable- I am a Huddleston fan, but I feel the same way when TLo post anything about Eddie Redmayne or Channing Tatum. No one male can do it for ALL of us.

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Meh. He’s sort of average cute in my book. I do like the suit. Agree the tie knot is too small. Are collar pins coming back in style? That would be fun!

  • MsBusy

    Nope. Nothing here.

  • Toto Maya

    Normally I think he’s cute as a button, but he’s looking a little… splotchy… here.

  • Ziuskin

Ohhhh, I SO needed this shot of Hiddles today. Thank you both VERY kindly, indeed. Mmmmm, damn.

  • KateMc

Ha! I thought I was the only one who referred to them as the Cumberbatch and the Hiddleston!

  • Joyce VG

    Oooh yum….

  • nannypoo

Gosh, TLo, yesterday you thought we would drool over Norman Reedus and today you think we will be smitten by this elfin person. Not even.

    • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

And there are a ton of drooling comments on both posts.

      • nannypoo

I’m always happiest when you post Jon Hamm. My kinda guy. And I’m sure at this very moment he’s thinking of me.

        • Rand Ortega

          LOL! That’s what I love about BK’s & PUF’s. So modest.

          • nannypoo

I know he sits in his tower dreaming of me, weeping bitter tears because of the irrelevant details that keep us apart, like for example the fact that we will never meet. But I’m sure if we did it would be a big success.

          • Rand Ortega

            HAHAHA! God, I love you!

    • H2olovngrl

      Mmm….Daryl….

  • Imasewsure

Don’t get the attraction but he looks nice. Like the tie clip for sure.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Ohmuhlawd, is he ever tasty! And the suit looks great.

  • MsMajestyk

    Thank you. That is all.

  • MilaXX

Anybody know how to clear notifications in this new format? It says I have new notifications but they are from months ago.

    • H2olovngrl

      Same problem. No clue.

  • Anna_Cecilia

    Dear Tom Hiddleston,

Upon seeing Ms. Mirren spectacularly accessorized with you when you escorted her/presented her with her Empire Legend Award, I would like to place a standing order for my entire wardrobe. You are more than well-qualified for the position and I’m convinced you will even go with my sweatpants.

    Love,
    AC.

  • Carly Warnock

    Nom nom.

  • gorghast

The Cumberbatch is talented, though ugly.

This guy, though? Sort of comes off like the retriever puppy version to Michael Fassbender’s wolf. And I’ve seen him in a bunch of stuff. Good in Thor, terrible in the Avengers, meh in War Horse and Midnight in Paris, awful in The Deep Sea, which I otherwise loved because of the divine Weisz and Simon Russell Beale.

    • mechanical_orange

I don’t know what you’re acting criteria is because I thought he was great in The Deep Blue Sea.

      • gorghast

He came off as completely forced to me. He was “acting” volatility and temper instead of allowing it to come naturally.

        • mechanical_orange

Maybe I need to watch it again, but I thought his temperament was well in-line with a self-centered and unstable war vet. I never got the sense that he was “acting,” although his character was so moody that it I think it might be difficult for an actor to know where to draw the line in terms of forced emotion as most people (hopefully) wouldn’t blow their fuse in the middle of an art museum.

  • Janet B

Almost perfect. Gorgeous suit and the tie and shirt set it off very well.
Let’s adjust his tie a bit and get his hands out of his pockets, maybe give him a shave.

  • sockandaphone

you know im totally behind hiddleston because hes a gorgeous man (as proof #436346543 – this post) but i just cannot get behind cumberbatch like ever. i just will never get whats so attractive about him.

    • http://twitter.com/jen_canary Jennifer Ford

Yeah, that’s me, too. I mean, Cumberbatch is a fab actor, but I don’t have an aesthetic appreciation of his looks at all, no matter who he’s playing or not playing. Alas.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I was in the same boat, but it took the trailer for the nest Star Trek for me to sit up and say “he *IS* kind of hot.” It’s his voice… there’s something really sexy about it.

    • editrixie

Cumberbatch is just the coldest, most remote actor. I watched this series he was in and the whole time I was kind of agog at how hard it was to care about his character. (Also I don’t like his face, but that’s a whole other thing.) But his remoteness did play perfectly into Sherlock, even though I can’t stand watching that show.

  • http://twitter.com/jamiehoovs JLH

    Unf.

  • snarkykitten

I think he’s one of those guys who looks good in costume/make up, but does nothing for me au naturale. Benny Cumberbund is the same way

  • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Krysta

Interesting tie-pin-thing. Which should perhaps be commented on by someone with more knowledge of tie-ular knowledge than I . . .

  • http://twitter.com/marghardin23 Margaret Hardin

my word, he is just a darling.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

i would say that i just don’t get hiddie’s or cummie’s appeal, but that would be a lie and also the end of my life as a bitter kitten.

    • Qitkat

I hope we all don’t have to march in lockstep on this ;-)
I’ve been catching up on Sherlock, and trying to comprehend his fangurl appeal. He’s fine, but I still have my crush on the 10th Doctor that stands above all other Brit guys.

      • H2olovngrl

I have room for both in my bed. I mean heart!

    • formerlyAnon

Oh, we’ll love you even if we don’t lust in unison. (I confess that Cumberbatch looks like someone I’d eat with a spoon in person, but he leaves me cold on film and in stills.)

  • jetpackdino

He’s lovely of course, very nice, but TLo please please please promise me that you’ll have at least one pic of Prince Harry when he gets here? Please and thank you I promise I’ll be good.

  • Nonmercisansfacon

Sigh Loki… why are you so adorably sexy?

  • AudreysMom

Whoa! I was updating my facebook status and gazing at all the SCOTUS posts, then saw TLo’s post about THIS and had to check. it. out. Thank you boys!!!

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

    Collar bars are back! *Rejoices*

  • formerlyAnon

Collar bars! Yay! Now, how many months before they become associated with overpaid financial industry wannabes and the charm fades? (Well, that’s what happened, for me, last time they were a thing.)

I do think the Art of the Knot is inexplicably neglected lately. There’ve been a run of ones that are askew, lopsided, too far away from the top shirt button, wrinkled, and now, too small. It takes a little practice, it’s not that hard.

Hiddleston! Yay! He’s just such a nice mix of really hot (depending on lighting & movement) and regular-guy cute, all in my flavor range. Like the suit. I do think there’s too much space at the bottom of the jacket, but I won’t blame him or his stylist. They’ve been showing those this past year or so (something I only know from this blog) so it’s the designers I blame.

  • Kimmu

I’m just waiting for the day when his hair goes dark again and the fires of my lust for Tom Hiddleston will be fully stoked once more. The black hair really does him best. Until them, it’s just a warm smolder of desire, because the man will always be a horribly charming adorable perfect asshole. Ugh.

Now for good old Bendydick Comeonmyback, I don’t understand the physical appeal. He’s talented and has a lovely voice, but I can’t find the words to describe how unattractive his face actually is.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I honestly love coming here for just that reason — when he ranked 2nd on my Avengers bang list, all of my friends thought I was crazy, while here, I am in the company of women with equally good taste.

    • http://dorothydamage.wordpress.com/ Dorothy Damage

My husband regrets taking me to see the Avengers to this day. I went in for Ruffalo, I came out wanting Hiddleston. I’m pretty sure I uttered something along the lines of ‘oh my stars’ when Loki popped up in his suit.

  • plinkiedoodle

Lovely! But shave next time, will you?

  • julnyes

Hiddles is looking dapper as usual .. I would like a better shave on him, but that is a Hiddle Quibble.

    (I’m sorry)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Emily-Smith/12431153 Emily Smith

    love. him.

  • http://twitter.com/jalae Janey

I borrowed a book about the Ivy Look and it fascinated me that there was a section on collars and the different types like collars with buttons, collars with different shapes and different collar bars. Which makes me kind of annoyed that there are so many male stars who look exactly the same on the red carpet or don’t look good at all when there’s a whole various realm of different ways to look different and look good. It’s not hard and it’s definitely not as hard as female dress. Like Tom here. He’s wearing a collar bar and rocking the shit out of it. And wearing his suit very well.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=831747935 Tina L Power

I need to have his ginger babies

  • DesertDweller79

It’s okay. TLo are right on about the look. But, he’s no Cumberbatch.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=535113058 Lysandwr Blaidd

Thank you SO much. I’ll just go chairgasm now. ;)
