I don’t get it and I don’t get her. Team Tina and Amy forever.

    • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

I was so going to say the same exact thing.  I never had much of an opinion about her one way or the other, and the she dared to defy Tina and Amy, and then it was on.  (And by “it was on,” I mean that I made this one comment about her, may she forever feel the sting of it.)

    • NinjaCate

Cosigned. Taylor is a mean girl masquerading as a nice girl. the WORST kind.

  • RebeccaKW

That Gareth Pugh was MADE for the Swinton and I had to see TS in it first?

At least her bangs don’t look like she slept on them funny, like they did on the last one.

    • http://www.facebook.com/sally.mabadi Sally Shield Mabadi

You just saw the back, though, so hopefully you can forget. Why did they photograph from the least interesting angle?

      • ballerinawithagun

I know, the front of the Pugh is amazing! The mermaid pants are too weird though.

        • barbarienne

Completely weird and yet somehow I kind of love them. Utterly impractical as actual clothing, but as art, they’re cool.

    • NC_Meg

Swinton would look fabulous in it. Taylor, that is not your pant suit.

      • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

No pant suit is her pant suit given how flat that ass is. I finally get why she wears so many full skirts. Poor, poor Taylor.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=13805908 Kelly Sowers

Taylor Swift in virginal whites. How riveting. LOVE LOVE LOVE the shoes in the Marchesa runway shot though.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Ha! I was going to say the same thing. So very original, putting her in all white.

  • http://twitter.com/sebwfu Shannon Beamer

Wow, white lacy dresses with bibs on Taylor Swift?! COLOR ME SHOCKED, INTERNET.  I refuse to even give her credit for the Gareth Pugh, which is a departure for her, mostly because it is STILL WHITE.

    • Lori

All that baby pink on the cover is really not helping either. Who is all this aimed at? Is there some substantial group of people out there who are not totally past sick of this, or are Tay and publicity people just that clueless about how she’s coming off?

      • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

Yes, to both. Cheesy people eat this shit up and La Swift & co. are pretty damn clueless.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

I always wonder, is the white meant to be Sacrificial Virgin White, or Bridal White? Because if it’s Bridal White I’m a bit weirded out; isn’t she only like 19? (Not that Sacrificial Virgin White isn’t weird either, but at least it would be age-appropriate.)

And her expression gives me the creeps – she looks zombified.

  • http://twitter.com/PlanetSandisan Sandisan

Ugh.  (I tried to think of something more constructive, but I just can’t.)

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think “Ugh” sums it up very well.

  • crash1212

We’re doing pants with TRAINS now?

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

That is a horrible, horrible look. It should stop now, before it gets out of hand.

      • demidaemon

Nina Flowers did it first and better.

    • Indovina

I find them interesting. They remind me of nagabakama, though I don’t think that was an intended reference.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/ISQR6CEKLR3YODR3D37IDRMD3Y Sian

Hmm…. Taylor Swift in a white dress…. I feel an “of course” coming on…

  • sockandaphone

  • http://twitter.com/uyeahu Michelle Wilson

I’d rather talk about her Vanity Fair interview and the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler mini-controversy. Much more interesting than this editorial.

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

I have no idea about this. I must google.

  • Annabelle Archer

    So two steps backwards then?

    • Sobaika

She was doing so well too.

  • nannypoo

I did not know she had any secrets.

    • Rand Ortega

       Only to her success.

  • Inspirit

    Of course.

  • siriuslover

yukkedy yuk yuk yuk. Sorry, the whole white schtick is getting old Taylor. That and your obnoxious self-righteous attitude. Why on earth would a magazine play into her own fashion games that way? Wouldn’t it have been more provocative to totally disrupt them?

  • MoHub

    Back to twee, I see.

  • Jessi03

Wow.  The cover says pastels are in, but not for Taytay, apparently.  I’m too distracted by “The Rise of Size Normal: How Bodies Got Real.”  What exactly does that mean?

    • j_anson

It means we’re going to take a short break from shaming girls for being to fat, so we can shame a few girls for being too thin?

      • MilaXX

I wish. Instead we’ll get backhanded compliments at normal to plus size bodies & shaming on thin ones.

        • j_anson

True, I’m underestimating their ability to multitask.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

Or is it going to be… “hey there all you size 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 girls! you can be Real now!”

  • schadenfreudelicious

she is almost firmly entrenched on my irrational hate list…..

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

In that third picture, she looks firmly entrenched in a lacy straight jacket.

  • Calista14

She can go away any time…

  • MissMariRose

Oh, here we go with the virginal bullshit again.

  • marilyn

The first dress reminds me of what Amish women wear in our area.  No lace on the bodice and longer hem, but that kind of style.  Where is the bonnet?

  • http://twitter.com/jen_canary Jennifer Ford

I adore the suit, and both she and the model look pretty fierce in it, but that has to be the most impractical pair of pants in the history of ever. I mean, I know they’re not meant to be worn for real, but they would get SO FILTHY.

  • j_anson

Photographer: I know! Let’s try putting her in a bunch of white outfits! It’s so… original!

  • libraangel

Except for the last photo, could Tay look any more virginal? which is probably her problem.

    • Melanie

That’s gross.  You don’t know anything about her actual sex life.

      • libraangel

No, I don”t, just guessing. And what is gross about being a virgin? Just guys don’t like it

  • alyce1213

I’m not really feeling that Valentino dress.  The Marchesa made me gag.
The Gareth Pugh pants suit is remarkably great, but the pants train is only for the runway.  She’s giving great face in that shot.

    • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Tess Danesi

I actually like the Marchesa. That said, it’s totally wedding night lingerie and the whole Tay in virginal clothing thing has to go away already. Second you on the pants suit, but I hope no one tries to take this look off the runway and into real life.

    • poggi

I like the pants suit too.  It’s the one interesting shot of her.

  • http://twitter.com/skitzfiggitous skitzfiggitous

Thanks, InStyle. I would SO love to know what her secret is, because I’m pretty sure I can half warble teen-journal emo lyrics as competently as her, so any tips to irrational fame and fortune would be welcome.

  • gabbilevy

Wait, there’s a person in these photos? All I see is an empty room.

  • MilaXX

really? an all white/pale pictorial? *YAWN*

  • ankali

Aaaaand I see we’re back to pretending we’re a virgin.

  • BookishBren

When can we stop paying attention to her? Seriously. *bangs head against desk*

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

YAWN. Pretty clothes, but nothing interesting about anything.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

That second pose is a little disturbing.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Yes. But on point if she is auditioning to be a homicidal little girl ghost in a horror movie.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

        “I’ve written a letter to Daddy…”

  • dramamajor

    What’s her secret? Voodoo witchcraft.

  • Nonmercisansfacon

Secret to what? Success? Love? Life? Really puzzled by that question.

  • Lilak

    Shhhhhhh . . . . . .

( I dare not lay snark of any kind on this sweet vulnerable creature, lest she consign me to that special new Eighth Circle of Hell of hers.)

    • Melanie

But, as someone said in another thread, if that’s the one where Tina and Amy are?  Sign me up.

  • oldbobbydraper

Please make her, tina, amy and their sycophants GO AWAY. Jfc.

  • Imasewsure

I don’t know. I like these pictures. I think the shots look better than the models in some ways. Love the pants with train photo and I like the white (esp. ’cause I can’t wear it)

    • understateddiva

I agree.  Putting Taylor S. in white is not original but she is definitely giving face.

  • H2olovngrl

So fresh! So young! So virginal! So much so, that we dressed her up like a baby, complete with bib!

    • lizlemonglasses

I was thinking, “How very literal!”

  • decormaven

If these weren’t Spring 2013 fashions, I’d swear these were taken early last year. She was progressing in style; these looks are a throwback. Pity, because I love the runway looks.

  • librarygrrl64

That first dress manages to be both ugly AND twee as f***.

  • Jecca2244

wait, did I miss why she is on all the covers recently? new music? Joe Zee at Elle is the only one who did her justice in this slew of covers. The VF cover looks like they legit dislike her (and their readers) and picked the most uninteresting photo.

    • libraangel

She is on all the covers because she is full of herself – I think

    • Laylalola

The Vanity Fair excerpts are some of the most unflattering I’ve ever read of any celebrity. They clearly can’t stand her, and must be pretty certain their readers are right there with them. Which is probably correct. I don’t know. I can’t stand either TS or VF.

  • kikisayshi

  • MK03

“What’s her secret?” Shot in the dark, but I’m gonna guess it’s manufacturing lame-ass attempts at “feuds” with other ladystars in a desperate attempt to make herself look like a victim.

  • guest2visits

She really made these much better looking than they are – especially the first dress. ( of course a model with sticks through her
head and bloody eyes is not a great comparison either).  She looks fantastic. British InStyle, and ALL the British fashion mags do much
better work than the US ones, still.

  • ScarlettHarlot

Ugh. She is the color beige personified.

  • http://twitter.com/pattylapatty pattycupcake

She doesn’t have traditional good looks.  It seems stylists always win when they give her a retro mod vibe.  On a personal note, she gives me the creeps, because she comes off so neurotic, at least to me.  She’s not much of a singer, but is a gifted songwriter.  I bet she’d be happier just working behind the scenes writing songs for other people, at least for a while.  But she doesn’t seem to be going that route. So I’m afraid she’s little by little going to piss everybody off to the point where we can’t even look at her anymore.

  • dharmabum8

    Go away.

  • lilazander

They dressed her in exactly the same kind of garments she wears on RC. Comletely boring and pointless editorial; the clothes look boring on her.

  • Pterodactyl111

  • MarissaLG

    Of course.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1832126583 Mary Lauer

Please, just, no. Enough with the twee white. kthxbye.

  • Melizmatic

  • Frank Lithium

Why must you do this Ms. Swift? You looked very foxy and grown-up a few posts ago, and now it’s back to the virgin-schtick once again? (Hopefully this is just some looooser editorial mistake on the magazine’s part)

  • kathrineb

For the sake of my own sanity and to stop myself from groaning loudly, next time I see the the words ‘Taylor Swift’ and ‘magazine’  I will not click.

  • anotherkate

I’d be mad if I were her. That cover makes her look way too ghostly. She’s a girl who needs blush (and a girl who can work a lot of makeup!). She’s a great model, though, despite how annoyed I am that they put her in all white AGAIN.
