  • Sorry, but those red side beaded panels over the illusion netting, look like the worst case of Impetigo on earth.

    • Mismarker

True dat.  Bonus points for illusion netting that comes very close to her skin tone.

    • Anathema_Device

Drats. Beat me to it! The back & front beading does remind me of airport landing strip lights.

      • I like the concept of the dress, and would have loved it in some other color.

        • tjs

Yes, I was thinking this could have been very lovely on her if it were in a pale lavender and was fitted to her a bit better. That illusion netting is annoying in such big chunks.

  • Sobaika

This is not awful, but I wish the beading didn’t come all the way up to her clavicle (really ruins the dress for me) and that she’d done something with her hair.

  • gabbilevy

Another dress that’s calling for a girl about two feet taller than Selena.

  • The beaded/embroidered illusion underdress is just stupid. Or maybe it’s the toga on top of the sheer dress that’s stupid. What am I saying? The whole garment is poorly thought out. No. This doesn’t work anywhere but on the runway, if there.

  • Anathema_Device

I like the idea of the mesh/beading/lace layers. It keeps the exposed skin from looking vulgar, but the red beading looks like a rash. Really don’t care for the hair. I get “messy updo” but “mess sorta-kind-up-sorta-kind-down” bugs.

  • ToothCake

I like that one back view of her hair but then the the other views makes it look like they didn’t have time to finish it.

  • On paper, this is a great idea for a dress. The execution is sloppy, at best. The dress needs constant movement (like on the runway) to ‘get it’. It needed a whole lot of editing for the red carpet.

  • SassieCassy

i like the dress as much as i like this new commenting system!

not bad in theory but very jarring and strange!!

    • 3boysful

Thank you!! I thought I was going crazy. Just when I get used to the last change . . . .

      • Mismarker

“Down voting” seems to discourage discussion…thus negating the point of a comment thread. I’m down voting this new system.

        • Lori

Complain to Disqus. Seriously. If you click on the gear icon under the comment box on the right side you can access their feedback form. I don’t know how much good it will do to complain about the unchangeable features* in the “upgrade” they pushed yesterday, but it can’t hurt.

*Threading is now standard, which doesn’t work for a lot of forums and so are the up/down arrows, which really don’t benefit anyone who wants to have good, civil discussion. They’ve also screwed with the font size and some other idiotic things.

          • Mismarker

Thanks, Lori. I haven’t been here in a couple days and didn’t realize this was a Disqus “upgrade”. Well, I’ll let my voice be heard. I hope others who dislike this new system will do (or have already done) the same. Sorry to bog up the board!

          • Lori

Oh crap, just realized how my comment sounded. I wasn’t trying to be snotty about your comment and it totally sounded like I was. I am so sorry.

            Let me try again.

The Disqus upgrade does indeed suck. Sadly it’s not an individual blog issue, the changes are Disqus-wide and uniform. There’s nothing T&Lo or any other blog owners can do about it. The only thing we can do is complain to Disqus directly.

          • l_c_ann

I could get on with my IE, but had to switch to Crome last night when the change happened, and I can’t even find the frickin’ tool bar, yet.

          • Thanks for the instructions, Lori, I reported my displeasure with the “upgrade” and invited them to look at this site to see examples of other negative feedback. What a bother, and how unnecessary……if it ain’t broke, as they say…..

        • SugarSnap108

I know. I’m even nervous I’ll accidentally down vote someone when I’m trying to up vote. Florida must’ve created this system.

        • DeborahJozayt

I’m just glad people aren’t hitting the “Down” vote on here. We’re so civilised!

Also, The thing I hate the most about this system is the notification board, but I found a way around it if you want the old setup! If you click the little gear next to ‘share’, go to ‘edit settings’. Close the preferences box on your screen, and voila! The old setup! If you bookmark that page, you can then see all your notifications in that format vs. the current format which is really trying.

        • You can still see the posts in order, if that’s what’s buggin ya. Use the discussion tab options.

  • MilaXX

Not crazy about the dress, and I hate the earrings, but unlike her costar her clothing does fit & hair/makeup/accessories coordinate.

  • fringebenefit

Clearly a “not your dress.” She rarely puts a foot wrong, but stepped into a huge pothole with this one.

  • Janet B

This would have been better in another color, but I don’t know how much better.

  • It’s a GORGEOUS dress, and I think it looks very pretty on her, though I think she’s a teensy bit too short for it. Otherwise, I love the color, and I love the earrings. I like the idea of her hair, but I don’t think it was executed well. And the clutch is boring.

Interesting how she and her peer Vanessa Hudgens are SO vastly different. Selena sometimes misses the mark, but she displays a level of taste that is leaps and bounds beyond that of VHudge.

  • Rand Ortega

    I don’t like it.

  • The dress is fabulous, but the hair is AH-trocious. And it just occured to me to ask, do these designers ever SELL anything? Or do they just loan dresses for premieres.

    • DeborahJozayt

I wonder if it’s not so much to sell the clothes, but the brand, so that the cheaper stuff everyone can kinda afford (Sunglasses, keychains, perfume) wins people over in ways advertising can’t. Reem Acra does bridal, which is probably where money comes, and it’s easy to say “Jolie wore, Reem Acra, you can too.”

  • Vavoom! I wish that piece of hair wasn’t so aggressively messy. I know what she was going for, but it’s too much undone.
Overall, I think she looks fabulous. What a gorgeous color on her.

  • What’s the opposite of “hot mess”? Oh yeah, THIS.

  • Indigo54

Don’t you just hate it when you just don’t have time to do your hair? Sucks!

  • Again, another outfit that needs to be on somebody taller. She’s wearing heels and it’s still pooling around her feet.

  • LadyCelia

    Looks like a nice negligee.

  • Fisher&SonsFuneralHome

Her chest looks like its been scratched and is bleeding. I think the dress would work in black but definitely not red.

  • siriuslover

Very sexy dress, HATE the front of her hair. The back of her hair is adorable, but too messy up front for that dress.

  • lindsmh

How old is she now? I certainly can’t fault her for trying to dress more maturely and move beyond her Disney-kid image, but she has such a baby-face that every time I see her in something like this I just see a little girl playing dress-up in mom’s fancy clothes.

  • kikisayshi

Somehow I feel like she’s too young for this dress, but it’s beautiful.

    • My sentiments exactly. She’s way too young for this diva-esque gown-cum-negligee. It just looks laughable.

  • l_c_ann

To me she looks like a sweet youngster who has snuck into her visiting aunt’s suitcase and just discovered what her aunt does for a living that her parents won’t discuss in front of her.

  • anotherkate

I like the dress and she’s small enough that the hip treatment doesn’t look tacky, but she forgot to get her hair did.

  • Imasewsure

Hate the dress itself but also hate it on her… pretty color but that’s all I got

  • When she has a teenager of her own then she should wear this dress.

  • kirkyo

Very pretty, especially in comparison to her co-star. Love it from the waist up but agree with others on the length.

  • PastryGoddess

She is really working this publicity isn’t she.

    Eat it Bieber!

  • I hate to say this, but I think Selena is too short to carry off a dress like this. It’s just not right on her.

  • cowper

All these red flowy dresses suffer in comparison with Rihanna’s red dress. Everyone else should just avoid them and pay homage to her in that one…she KILLED it!

  • m0r0

The half up half down hair has got to stop!

Nice match on the skin tone though.

  • formerlyAnon

If you want to play with the sheer/faux sheer and lace trends, THIS is an interesting way to do it. Not sure she should have done it, but . . .

    Also, that hair is tragic.

  • The little duchess. So pretty.

  • E. D.

Would be a WERQ if not for those earrings. I love that dress!

  • librarygrrl64

This is really, really pretty. This is the way to do illusion netting.

  • Louise Bryan

Good color for her, although the dress seems a tad overdesigned.

  • kathrineb

Its not as bad as some of her looks and it totally fills her weird need for maximum show girl bling in everything she wears.

  • bd73

lovely, and a little “solid gold.”

  • unbornfawn

Oh, child, you are not woman enough for that dress.

  • lilazander

Another BLAH! wearer. It looks better on the model. TLo, you are wasting time even noticing it.

  • libraangel

I don’t like this new comment format AT ALL (please change it back, T&L, please!) And I don’t know if I like Selena’s dress: something bothers me: that blood red/orange?!
