I want those shoes the model is wearing. That’s all I have to say.

    • gabbilevy

Me too! That’s the only thing in this post remotely interesting.

      • ballerinawithagun

Yes, to both of you! I rarely wear a floral dress but floral shoes, yes!!!

  • In_Stitches

    you mean Helen Mirren?

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

OMG – I thought the same thing when I saw the thumbnail!!

    • homofascist

I thought it was Helen Mirren too!

    • poggi

       I thought that too.

    • http://twitter.com/JapaneseTrash Japanese Trash

Yep, doing the home page scroll, I thought this was Helen. Only Helen would have done something with her hair and remembered to wear makeup.

  • Sobaika

Did she sleep through her alarm?

Next time brush your hair, consider a flick of eyeliner, and pick some interesting shoes. A good dress can’t do all the work.

    • urbanamish

not even that good of a dress.  could be anne taylor.  i think my mother has that dress.

      • Jacqueline Wessel

It would be a good dress for me. If I saw that in a store I would definitely try it on and most likely buy it. Your mother has good taste imho.

        • urbanamish

she does.  there is nothing wrong with this dress. but given this woman has access to ANYTHING…it’s   unremarkable and my mother and many others have had it in their closet for  years.

Girl (and apparently, her hair) is fried after the Oscar pole-dancing. I think some R&R is in order…

    • EveEve

Well, why not, when she can make a quick $100k for just showing up?!

    • http://profiles.google.com/dorothymichael Dorothy & Michael n/a

First thought I had was “it’s time to retire the bleach blonde look.”  She looks so wan.  Time to experiment with some honey blond looks.  The hair she has now is frightful.

Wouldn’t have been my choice to wear to a luncheon with lots of stylists present. But maybe she was supposed to be the “before” example and was there to headhunt a new one?  I like the shape of the dress but the fabric looks cheap (memories of floral jersey in the 90s), the shoes and purse are dull and her hair… On the other hand, I’ve never seen her resemblance to Agnetha from Abba before and I like her watch.

  • dress_up_doll

It’s a great little dress. However, I just wish she had gotten her hair did. It’s kind of influencing my opinion of this whole look — and not in a good way.

  • dress_up_doll

I TOTALLY thought the same thing!

  • Anathema_Device

Hmmm…a whole lotta ordinary going on.  She needs better shoes, jewelry, and hair. And not necessarily in that order.

  • Kate4queen

There’s a Most Powerful Stylists luncheon? Who knew?

    • Lori

This was my first thought. My second thought was, “Damn, there really is no end to the narcissism is there?” I especially love that it’s the 25 most powerful stylists. They’re not even pretending it’s about quality of work. In a way you sort of have to appreciate the honesty.

      • Little_Olive

I too am relieved that they haven’t called themselves the 25 “best” stylists, because man, they produce a rare WERK in a sea of hot messes.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Just another example that “power” doesn’t necessarily equal “talent.” I’m sure they are talented – they’d have to be to get their foot in the door – but the talent isn’t what necessarily gets you to the top of the “powerful” list.

      • ankali

It’s stylists all the way down!

    • Kayceed

So – are there feats of strength involved? Displays of wit? Crass exhibits of wealth? I would love to see the agenda.

  • Annabelle Archer

    Oh dear.
I’m on my phone and the thumbnail looked like Helen Mirren. That’s not an insult, but certainly is a concern.

    • random_poster

      I thought Helen Mirren, too!

  • dress_up_doll

Darn, Disqus! I totally thought what In_Stitches commented about Helen Mirren.

  • SassieCassy

does she look unrecognizable to anyone else? is she hitting the botox like her girl kidman

    • http://profiles.google.com/denise.alden Denise Alden

You know, my first thought was “it’s nice to see lines on her face.”  But going back to the photos, I fear you’re right:  the forehead is suspiciously smooth.  Too bad, because I’ve often thought how untouched her face looks.

  • SewingSiren

Look at all the goodie bags in the corner. I wonder what is in them… I wish I was going somewhere with goodie bags…………….

    • charlotte

       Hopefully a new stylist.

  • ConnieBV

She’s a beautiful lady and she could have done better. The bag, shoes and hair are killing this, and not in a positive way.

  • kimmeister

    Great dress, terrible accessories.

  • fringebenefit

Terrific woman, terrific dress. Not working because of styling. She needs to do something about that waif-like hair and complexion. Just a bit of a pop somewhere in all that vast whiteness.

    • conniemd

Not only was hair terrible, but as you say her face looked so white and pale. Looks like she has no make-up on other than some blush that isn’t even in the right spot on her cheekbones. Pale lipstick and little eyemake-up makes her look old and washed out.

  • NC_Meg

    Pretty dress, terribly sad hair.

  • Calinda_L

There’s nothing offensively wrong with this outfit, but… it’s kind of like when someone gets on the Grammar High Horse and calls someone else out for bad spelling or punctuation — they’re opening themselves up to scrutiny and more often than not, they’re going to be called out for making their own mistake. All that is to say, given the theme of the luncheon, she doesn’t look particularly well styled. Or, honestly. styled at all.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

My thoughts exactly. I’d think that if you went to an event like this, you’d make darn sure that everything was PERFECT.

  • Angela_the_Librarian

I think the dress on the left (in the model picture) would have been a more interesting choice. It helps to break up the floral pattern a bit.

    • http://twitter.com/omg_dora Dora K.

       Definitely.

  • Janet B

Too much print for her. The dress on the left with more white might have been better.

  • schadenfreudelicious

girlfriend looks pale….and this is coming from a very pale gal…the hair simply shall not be born…

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Her stylist just lost his/her spot on the “25 Most Powerful Stylists” list. The dress is really unflattering to her figure. The accessories are boring and don’t do anything for the look. And she also clearly didn’t bother with her hair or makeup one bit. For some reason, she looks older than she really is in their pictures, too. I’m not sure if it’s the lighting or what, but it’s not good.

  • MilaXX

She did so well during awards season that it pains me to see her with these dull, beige accessories.

  • Imasewsure

Unfortunately in Hollywood circles, “serious” events = frumpy businesswoman wear… hopefully JLo is there to bring the slutty secretary otherwise it’s just going to be a series of boring lunch dresses with ugly Jimmy Choos

  • formerlyAnon

There is a lack of, um, polish to her head that reminds me of what I might do if a stylist sent me a dress & accessories but no minion to make sure I used a hairdresser/makeup artist.

  • LadyCelia

Wouldn’t you want to fix your hair before going to a stylist’s luncheon?

  • http://twitter.com/omg_dora Dora K.

I love that Erdem collection but this is probably the least interesting item in it. On its own, it just looks very mature. Also there is something weird going on around her waist/hips — either bunching up due to bad fit or… I don’t know. She has no waist in these pictures.

  • http://twitter.com/lisledanielle Danielle Lisle

    -THAT- is Naomi Watts?!?!

  • marilyn

She looks fine.  This is a luncheon.

  • LaSylphide

    Grandma!!! Long time, no see!

  • Louise Bryan

Sometimes I think if I could lose 100 pounds (and not fall over from anorexia), Erdem would be my first choice for designer clothes.

  • lrober03

Not one of my favorite Erdem pieces from that collection.  The fabric and print remind me of something I’ve seen at Target

  • tereliz

That dress is like boring enough to be a neutral on its own. She could have gotten away with shoes in a color, no problem. Hot pink! Emerald green! She’s at a STYLIST’S luncheon, ffs. I hope she didn’t put the stylists off their feed with her styling…
The worst thing imo, is her hair. WTF happened? Naomi, whoever gave you that awful haircut, please sic King Kong on them or something. It’s aging and just not flattering to your gorgeous face.

  • E. D.

    Hello, 1989.

  • Diego!

    She looks like a ghost!

  • amf0001

Helen Mirren wants her dress and hair back

    • Natalie Bryan

Yep, I just glanced at the thumbnail as I clicked and got really confused when this wasn’t Helen Mirren.

  • nannypoo

The dress is not so bad but the hair is shitful.

  • VictoriaDiNardo

Hey, wait a minute!  What part of New York City is this luncheon in, the part with green leaves and palm trees in March?  Maybe she was just trying this on for the stylist in LA pre-luncheon?

Whatever, I think she looks great and comfortable with herself, which is the best thing you can do for yourself IMO.

    • Imasewsure

Yes that is definitely West LA but I think if she tried it on in advance for anyone, they would have changed a few things out (like the hair, etc). Still cute as you say, just not great

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

Check out the big bags o’ swag on the floor behind her..

  • demidaemon

For a stylist’s luncheon, we are seeing some pretty lame outfits here. Plus her hair is atrocious.

  • Kyle Crawford

Just wash and go!  It’s fantastic!

  • SugarSnap108

“Most Powerful Stylists” luncheon?  I guess her stylist was too busy being lunched to help a girl out?  Her hair is awful here, and the rest of the look isn’t much better.

  • libraangel

I want to like this but I can’t. Despite the lovely neckline, it so reminds me of a housedress my grandma wore in the 1950′s

  • FridaStaire

How hilarious that event sounds! I want to see the stylists, not the celebs!

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Is she sad?  Does she need some Effexor?

  • TRSTL

Seriously?  This is obviously not in NYC at all.  Is this a shot done for a test run/try on and was leaked for whatever reason?  That would explain the hair and make up.

  • BookishBren

She needs some lowlights or something done to warm her hair color up a bit. Her skin and hair are too bland.

  • deathandthestrawberry

Her hair looks like mine does when I rush out the door in the morning, which is to say: not a good look for a fancy luncheon.

  • http://twitter.com/lolacestmoi Lola Channing

can someone please ban pointy beige shoes?
