IN or OUT: Michele Williams in Burberry Prorsum

Posted on March 01, 2013

Yeah, all right. We’re milking the Oz thing. It’s post-Oscars week. Sue us.

Now, why are we not blown away by this outfit and why is this the second Michelle Williams outfit in a row that has failed to do so?

Michelle Williams attends the premiere of ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ held at Empire Leicester Square, London in a Burberry Prorsum dress accessorized with Jimmy Choo shoes and a Solange Azagury-Partridge ring.

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013 Collection/Model: Cara Delevingne

It’s a good-on-paper dress. We suppose. We’re not entirely sure what we think about a feather dress. The colors are pretty, but it sure looks stiff (and a little figure-obscuring). We’re not crazy about the length or the way the bust is kinda split down the middle. It’s the second dress in a row that makes her look thicker than she is. We thought we liked her latest hairstyle, but it’s working for us a little less each time we see it. Also, if you’re gonna wear a big feather dress, pick a more delicate shoe, we’re thinking.

Talk us off the ledge, darlings.

Vote Now!

IN! Fierce Feather Realness!

OUT! Chicken-Lady!

The Minion with Opinions agreed with us that Mila Kunis’ Russian Jessica Rabbit getup was not working, and thus, OUT.

Actually, I think the belt is what makes her look thicker.  It breaks up her body in a way that makes her look even shorter.  The dress might fall better if the flow wasn’t damaged by the belt.

      • Snoskred

Is it the same belt from the Rick Rack dress, from yesterday? Looks like it to me..

Maybe the belt is the cause of two epic fail outfits in the past 2 days..

I think this would have been ok without the belt. Not a huge WIN, but ok..

      • marlie

I just noticed that… maybe the belt IS the culprit.

    • charlotte

I like the dress, although I agree with the quibbles. It still gets an IN from me.

      • Sobaika

I think the dress is lovely – imagine it on someone like Nina Dobrev. I’m very into peacocks though.

        • charlotte

          Yeah, me,too. Peacocks are wonderful.

        • RebeccaKW

Me, too.  And I do love the dress.  I kind of wish she’d worn the cape and not a belt.

    • thesixthbeatle

IN. Its not mindblowing but its an interseting dress in a pretty colour. Just needs better/more accessorizing.

    • AmeliaEve

OUT. “Good on paper” is an excellent description. What sounds more ethereal and lovely than a dress covered with peacock feathers? But I think in this case, less would have been more. Maybe a feathered bodice with a flowing skirt or something. It’s just overwhelming and it doesn’t create a pretty shape. Bummer.

    • SewingSiren

      Strong disagreement and decent.
I love this one . Iridescent blue green feathers? Perfect technicolor dress for an OZ premiere, plus it looks great on the yellow bricks. I think she could have gotten away with a crazy British cocktail hat a la Isabella Blow, but that’s just me.

      • Ginny Ellsworth

I love the idea of a crazy British cocktail hat but I just don’t think she has the zhuzz to pull it off. She always reads vanilla to me and this dress is anything but that.

      • n a

i agree- i think this dress is so gorgeous.  I think it’s just a bit of a fit issue- because it’s making her appear a bit ‘thick’ in the middle (which we know she is not) and it sits too low on her bustline.  I just feel like if the bodice were fitting better and pulled up and in a bit this would be a total WERQ.

    •árez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

She looks a little thick on the waist. And I think that, if you’re wearing a feathered dress, you have to commit with a little bit stronger makeup… not saying that she should go all Kristen Stewart’s warpaint, but something with more drama.

Anyway, it’s an OUT for me.

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

OUT. Visually it is very pretty, but it is so stiff, even they way she is standing makes it look like the thing is made of cardboard with feathers glued to it.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

    • iolantherosa

      Love it!

    • Meg0GayGuys6

IN. I like this dress.  I actually really like the feathers and the effect of the color/shine/whatever it is.

I don’t like the shoes, but I don’t hate them enough to make it an out. And maybe add some dangly earrings?  kthanks

      • Anplica Fiore

Agreed.  The color looks amazing on her!  In.

    • Kate

It has to be the proportions of the dress/shoe combo on her tiny frame. She looks short and thick.

    • Kiltdntiltd

A squeaker of an IN, from me.  Mostly because that color is Stuh Ning on her.  The issues seem to be mostly fit ones.  The bodice is riding too low, and the hem is hitting her in an awkward place.  Two inches up, or down would have been great. Still kinda digging on her new hair.

      • raininmai

I agree with everything here. And I love, love, love the hair.

      • Derek_anny

And for me, despite complete agreement with your reasons, this squeaks out.  Hooray subjectivity.  The fabulousness of the feathers and their color didn’t quite balance the stiffness.

    • Shannon Campe

I’m in love with that color and texture, IN

    • katje9

The color is gorgeous, but the dress itself is not. Granted, I can’t get
behind the feather thing at all from a cruelty standpoint, but even
aside from that – she’s a gorgeous woman and this dress – cut, shape,
length – is doing her no favors. I do like the shoes. Hair – eh. I
liked it when I first saw it but I think she looks best with the very
      short cut.

    • margaret meyers

I feel like this needed to be an evening gown.  Feathers are too dramatic for a cocktail dress, they need to be reserved for a real confection.

    • Indigo54

OUT!  She looks like a tree trunk with moss growing all over it.

    • Badriya Al-Badi’a

Out–the dress needs the cape and more delicate shoes of the runway look to make it work.  Beautiful colors, though.

    • Jessica Crowl

I usually find feathers to be kind of creepy, but I love the color on her, and I think the accessories work well here to make it modern. IN for me.

    • Billie_Dawn

In. I’m not crazy about the hair, but it doesn’t detract from the fantastic dress.

    • lehen

nope – out.  i like the idea of it, but its just not working for her.  and the hair has got to go.

    • EEKstl

I’m in the IN column – love love love the color, and yes, while it might thicken her a bit, it’s not disarming.  The one thing I DON’T like is that distracting black “V” on the bodice.  Methinks it would have been a better dress without it.

    • Scimommy

Sigh. Chicken lady. No, wait. Parrot lady. Out.

    • Spicytomato1

IN. I think she looks amazing. Although I think I may like the model’s styling better. One quibble that has nothing to do with the dress. I get that she’s growing her hair out, believe me I feel her pain, but that’s just no excuse for a Trump combover.

      • MilaXX

I like the hair better when she styles it more edgy, when she just lets it hang it looks awkward.

    • PeggyOC

In.  It’s got a few minor quirks, but on the whole it’s a sharp look.  And the bonus points she’s racking up from not going for TAF (Twee as F***) outweigh the negatives.

    • gillian holroyd

OUT. This is not her dress. She doesn’t have the presence or the nouse to carry it off. She isn’t wearing it, it’s wearing her. And so on.

      Nice color.

    • Annabelle Archer

Out. Looks like a PR unconventional materials attempt.

    • jmorino08

I think you’re tired, boys. The Oscars friend your brains…

    • mjude

    • Tanya Wade

Needs the capelet. But hey, she matches the flying monkey behind her on the poster.

      • Alyssa

I agree. If she had worn the capelet, I would probably love it. As is, I say out.

    • MissMariRose

OUT. This reminds me of a dress one would see coming down the PR runway in an unconventional materials challenge. Someone just glued a shit-ful of feathers to some muslin, sewing Michelle Williams into it, and send her down the red carpet. Nina Garcia is not amused.

      • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I could only think of Andre’s moss ‘dress’ that he thought was amazing, and got him Auf’d I believe.

      • makeityourself

        Feather = Kenley

        • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Feather=Kinley was really Kinley ripping off a McQueen she claims she didn’t knew existed.

    • MilaXX

OUT. The dress length and shoe just don’t work. The face is better and the hair is just okay. All combined I’m underwhelmed.

    • Ginny Ellsworth

Not that I have a fetish, but she has gorgeous feet and legs! Those shoes don’t really suit the dress but she looks smashing in them!

    • lexilexi

I think she looks adorable.  IN

    • carolie_king

OUT, but barely.  Looks like a stellar job with the unconventional materials challenge.  I agree the shape isn’t doing her favors.  Beautiful color, though.

    • Jaeda Laurez

She got a dress that was made from pure Cookie Monster. No ma’am. OUT.

    • tallgirl1204

Love the hair, love the top of the dress– it was the scroll-down to the skirt tha didn’t work for me– too stiff, too straight, too long (or maybe not long enough).  If it was three inches shorter– or alternatively, full length– the proportions would have been better for her tiny little self.  I will give it a marginal “in” for the color and for her hair, which I like a lot styled this way.

    • nannypoo

Hate the dress, hate the shoes, really hate the hair, and hate that she has a movie coming out because that means she will be everywhere dripping sweetness and false modesty. Blech.

    • BuffaloBarbara

It’s okay.  Not really in or out from a distance; it’s just a dress.

The close shots I can tell it’s feathers, but my brain went to a muppet-skin place.

    • Heather Waddell

In. Despite the problems, the color and the fact that it’s a feather dress saves it.

    • TRSTL

I would have read “feather dress” on paper and thought “ick” but I think this works just fine on her.  LOVE that hse seems to have left “twee land”!  I have no quibbles here, it’s striking and a beautiful color.  And if this is what “think in the middle” looks like, god help us all…….

    • clatie

I love it!  Especially considering her superhero-like ability to cute-ify clothes.  IN!

    • Jessica Rowe

OUT. Love her, hate this dress.  Blue big bird. Hate it.  Burn it.

    • SugarSnap108

IN, with reservations.  It does a look a bit dull in some of the pics, but I think it’s the lighting.  From the last shot and the up-close one, I love the colors and suspect this is quite lovely in person.  Completely agree with you on the shoes, though.

    • Jeff Warhurst

Big honking black diamond earrings would save the look.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

OUT! Fly Away little Bird Girl…

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Answering before I look at what you guys say – too long and clunky shoes.

      • HomeOfficeGirl

        Yep!  (Mostly) got it right.
It’s an out for me… the feathers are kinds strange and cool, but the too long hem and shoes mess everything up.  The hair – she’s still got the twee face that trumps the edgier hair.

    • Diane_G

I actually really like it. It’s a little heavy but the color looks stunning on her, and I am seriously coveting that haircut. In.

    • Judy_S

IN.  I like the hair and I think the length works on her better than the puddled hem of yesterday’s dress. She looks a little thicker than maybe she is, but she can afford to–she looks shapely and pretty.

    • Adriana Blair

I like everything except the way the skirt is so straight and stiff looking. Still I can’t say she looks bad…so IN.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

IN with reservations.  I’m almost impressed how a dress with lovely feathers ends up looking like a knitted tea cozy.

    • filmcricket

Agreed on all your points, except that I don’t mind the bust. I’d like to see some kind of necklace, I think. The colour is fabulous, but yeah, a feather dress is just flat-out creepy.

Out for all those reasons, and because I can’t resist a Chicken Lady reference.

    • schadenfreudelicious

she’s gone from twee to tweet…OUT

    • Belle239

Out.  The dress looks weird from several inches above the hem all the way down. …like it cannot decide whether to flare or not flare.  It is a beautiful color for her but the dress is just rather boring, on both her and the model.  And who wants to look thicker at the middle than you really are?

    • Rhonda Shore

I’m not sure about the hair, although it’s an interesting way to grow it out.

    • belfebe

OUT.  I think that if it was a long dress, it would have worked.  It’s one of those scroll-down fugs.  Really cool in the top, and you’re expecting something spectacular in the bottom, only to be cut off short.

      • AViewer44

Yes! Agreed about the length. I was thinking that if it had been longer and flared towards the hem …. Although I fear it would have only ended up looking long and thick and dorky. M

    • E. D.

IN.  Not 100% behind the shoes.

    • Jeremiah Capacillo

    • carolynmo

You’re right; the dress thickens her. Definitely NOT what one wants in a dress.

    • lobsterlen

Do not dry clean. Preening only.

If your dress has those care instructions then ….

    • S_Quizzle

IN I think the dress is beautiful, although agree about it needing a more delicate shoe.

    • Deborah Lipp

I love that it’s out of her wheelhouse. Yesterday, she took a runway look that was special and turned it into another t-shirt crew-neck top. In.

    • NurseEllen

An anemic IN from me.  Hike the whole thing up, lose the belt, and for God’s sake, honey, wear some earrings.  ANY earrings.  Why are you so earring-phobic?  I don’t mind the shoes, despite the ankle straps, which usually make me twitch.  (Then, all at once, the hinges begin to unhitch….sorry, couldn’t resist.)

    • Ann-Marie Kirshon

In. It’s not perfect, but she looks pretty. I kinda like the shoes. (Don’t disown me!)

    • Carina

It’s the shoes that ruin it. With a classic pump it would be better. Still IN though.

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I really love that dress. It’s a great color for her and the feather effect is interesting enough to offset any slight thickening of her figure. Oddly enough, the bust needs…something. But I still like it. IN for me.

But I’m with you guys on the hair. Half-Ass-Flock-Of-Seagulls is not working for her.

    • MintaHallWriter

A marginal OUT for me…the hem length is just wrong on a tiny girl like Michele. She needs to think about proportion. This makes her look horribly short-waisted.   I’m marginally OK with the feathers and I love the color on her, but the sweetheart strapless look isn’t doing her any favors. If she had a full bodice with small sleeves it might have balanced out the LOOOOONG skirt–the runway look had a little capelet (which I don’t much like) to balance the long length.  I think the dress itself doesn’t work, even for a tall, super-skinny model–so what hope does the petite Michele have in pulling it off.

And TLo is right…a delicate metallic shoe–I’m thinking copper–would have worked way better. And maybe ditching the belt, or (at least) doing a more delicate one.  Wouldn’t cut her in half so much and emphasize the short waist/long skirt thing.

    • zelavie

I don’t have strong feelings either way.  I agree that it needs a more delicate shoe, and I’d love to see some earrings or something.  The colors are beautiful, but the feather thing is off-putting.  I give it a weak “out”.

    • AViewer44

Out! Her look and haircut is tailored and gamine, and this dress, while almost gorgeous, just isn’t. It’s also an awkward length on her and somehow doesn’t manage to drape around her legs, as it dies on the model. A case of Not Your Dress, IMO.

    • sweetlilvoice

In, the feathers are fun. Wish she had some jewelry though, that dress needs a necklace.

    • gsk241

I think it would look better if it were a different length… Maybe above the knee?  I’ll still give it an IN because I think it’s pretty.

    • Scott Cooper

No doubt a stylist for premeires is part of the production budget.  But it looks almost to me like the film’s costume designer is handling the styling premieres as all of the dresses we’ve seen on the two leading ladies fall outside their normal bailiwicks and appear to be consistent with the artistic theme of the film.

    • leave_Blake_alone

IN. A few nits, but overall I think it’s a pretty great look. I think the current hair somehow works really well with this dress.

    • foodycatAlicia

IN, although it has to tickle if she puts her arms by her sides and it could be a few inches shorter.

    • Judy_J

      OUT.  Awkward length, unflattering.

    • iheartbuffy

      1. The shape is terribly unflattering. Send that dress to someone with no hips whatsoever Michelle.
      2. WAY TOO MUCH BLUSH. Like, Russian doll blush.
      3. Awful, awful, AWFUL shoe choice. Send those off to a girl at Rick’s Cabaret who is in need of a new pair of shoes for her number on the pole.
      4. NO NECKLACE? NO BRACELET? WTF were you thinking? Have your gays abandoned you?

    • ojosazules

The all over feather thing is a bit heavy looking, but still an In.

    • Austen Jane

In. Another vote against the hair, and I understand the quibbles, but I bet it looked great in person.

    • appliquer

In, but only because I like the color. All the comments apply. At least her shoes fit!

    • Krysta

I wish she’d worn the cape in the runway version.

      • SewingSiren

Yes. When else are you going to wear one if not to the premiere of a movie where you’re play Glinda the Good?

    • Stella Zawistowski

      Cluck, cluck, cluck, OUT.

    • Ruth Preston

On the plus side, she perfectly matches the flying monkey in the backdrop. Cue nightmares.

    • RescueMe23

OUT – Chicken Lady as you say..

    • Cheree Winston

Seems to me that if you’re going to wear that awkward length dress that makes your legs look short, then you really shouldn’t also wear shoes with an ankle strap that will make your legs look short.

    • kmk05

IN for me, because thecolour is such an improvement! I don’t mind the shoes, and hair and makeup go very well with the dress. It’s just… not the right dress for her because of the bust. It makes her look very wide, and we all know she is everything but.

    • anotherkate

Those shoes make her feet look big. This is unacceptable, since we all know she’s pocket-sized and therefore probably has tiny feet. OUT. (Love the iridescent feathers, though).

    • sweetestsith

In, it’s not perfect but looks pretty great on her. Hike it up about 2″, throw on a pretty necklace (seriously, so much upper body here! Needs something going on…) and it would be pretty much perfect. But still, small in as is.

    • Janet B

The colors are beautiful and she looks pretty. I love this dress, although there are some fit issues. IN

    • tereliz

Huh. I really want to like this one and find myself trying to defend it, but sorry, Michelle, I’m gonna have to come down on the OUT side of the fence. Maybe if the styling was different: funkier shoes and clutch, hair that doesn’t look like a comb-forward (wtf?), take off the belt, add some jewelry. It’s a cool dress but it looks so plain on her as is. The matchy belt/shoes/clutch are putting this look to sleep.

    • Meg Galasso

Does her stylist not believe in jewelry? I mean, I see the ring, but some great earrings would’ve really changed this look.

    • BrooklynBomber

IN for effort.  She’s trying to move away from twee. I’m not sure she can do it, but she’s trying.

    • lilibetp

I don’t really like the belt, but I like the rest of it.

    • cowper

      IN. Interesting and gorgeous color.

I think what we are suffering from here is a case of “Anne Hathaway Syndrome.” The pixie cut and the posing are reminiscent of Annie, and the insecurity behind Annie’s campaign efforts (please like me please like me see how hard I’m trying) trigger us and make us irritated. Hence anything that reminds us on a subconscious level of her is annoying.

How is that for some psychoanalysis?

    • Lisa Dugan

IN for me.The colors are gorgeous and somehow perfect for the OZ premiere.  I don’t hate or love the shoes and her hair actually works for me.

    • Pants_are_a_must

It’s a shapeless dress on the model too. Williams makes the most of it, to be honest. I agree about the shoes, but ultimately, the flattering color wins. IN.

    • Aly Light

I think it’s gorgeous– the color is lovely. I think the reason you don’t like it is the lack of jewelry, but that’s not enough to keep me from calling it IN.

    • RedRaven617

Out. I agree with all your comments. Beautiful colors, but that’s it.

    • Reality TV Casting

IN love it IN and IN and IN she looks surreal, it’s not the most flattering on her shape, sure, but she’s so thin, i think it still works.

    • Shawn EH

Well, at least it looks worse WITH the cape? Out.

    • kat89

I think a piece of jewelry would help here. Yes, it’s a gorgeous dress, but a bracelet or the right necklace would finish the job. Ooh, maybe something with an emerald…

    • formerlyAnon

Out. Gorgeous color and the feathers are a fun conceit. But there’s too much unadorned skin north of the bodice, emphasizing that the bodice looks like it’s riding low, and the whole thing, as stated, looks bulky and stiff.

    • Jangle57

I’m on the ledge with you – OUT

    • Erin

OUT.  I’m sorry she and Jason Segel broke up, but that was NO REASON to skin a Muppet and wear its pelt.  Poor Cookie.

    • xmixiex

maybe it’s been said, but without reading through all 100 some comments- maybe she just IS a little thicker at the moment?  and that’s ok?

    • marlie

Le sigh. I LOVE this dress, and I want to say in, but it’s doing really terrible things to her figure. She looks really thick around the middle in this, and we all know that that’s not the case. I would have also taken a couple of inches off of the hem, and while I love these shoes, I agree that that they’re a tad too heavy for this look.

      So, a regretful OUT.

    • H2olovngrl

It looks pretty with the backdrop and props. She has that going for her.

    • Julie Chase

Out. Gorgeous colors, perfect makeup, but the length is stumpy and the dress is too stiff.

    • procrastinatrice

In. Yes, the shape is thickening, but the colors are wonderful, and her manicure is absolutely perfect for this outfit. Make up is great, too. Can’t penalize her for the growing pains of her hair–she is doing as good as she can there.

    • conniemd

Out. Great color, no on the feathers. The feathers should be soft giving a flow to the dress, but it appears stiff. The model’s waist looked thick too, even without the belt.

    • Renate Yerkes

      nah, no likey

    • ankali

OUT. She looks like she skinned Cookie Monster.

    • SistaT

I agree that the dress looks very stiff on her and the length of it, combined with the ankle strap on the shoe, makes her legs look stumpy.  OUT

    • Dot

All I can think is “muppet.”

    • leftcoastpickle

OUT and I love her, so this saddens me. But that dress looks stiff and silly.

    • Qitkat

IN. I damn well love it on her. Perfect for her coloring. The bodice sits at the correct height and has a flattering curve. Her tiny body can afford a bit of heaviness. Of course it could have been a tiny bit shorter, with some more jewelry, but so many wear minimal jewelry these days, it isn’t enough for an out. The shoes on the model would have been a great addition of color, but again, hers are fine.

    • Tashina Savage

Stop picking on my Michelle. She is perfect.

    • msdamselfly

OUT  Looks so much better on the model

    • suzq

Either a wider belt in satin would have worked or perhaps no belt at all, would have been better like on the runway.  I think that dress must have looked spectacular in person, however.  In, for me.

    • Elizabeth Silverstein

Marginal IN, she needs a necklace and I’m not sure what is going on with her hair, it looked great a week ago. Did they muss with her bangs?

    • JauntyJohn

IN, but I would have liked it more if she kept the little cape (capelet?) — that confluence of colors really worked for me.  Ultimately, it’s a movie premier, and a fantasy movie from the grandpa of all fantasy series, so… a feather dress? Sure. Stiff yes, but I like the length on her and the figure obstruction (in this case) is no big deal here.

    • editrixie

In. Love the dress, love it. Couldn’t care less about anything else, because I love the dress so much.

    • Laura

      OUT. Love her but, ewwww!

    • MzzPants

A Muppet wants his coat back.  OUT.

    • mozzer0906

Something about the neckline is just off on this one for sure

    • Sara__B

Out. Interesting dress with boring styling.

    • decormaven

In, only when monkeys fly. Should have worn the capelet for a win, in my book.

    • Coty Hunter

In, I think the photographs do not do this dress justice. It seems with the right light the dress illuminates in a very modern Glenda the Good Witch!

    • GorgeousThings

      Bruck bruck Brawwwwk!

    • Belvane

IN. I’ll bet this looks amazing in person. But she needs to get over her fear of jewelry.

    • Imasewsure

I can’t call it out because it’s not awful, not overstyled and I love the hair and makeup on this one. Agreed about the fit though but it’s an In but just barely for me

    • Zippypie

This isn’t horrible – yes, it’s too long, yes, the bustline is odd, yes, it looks like Grover mated with a peacock and molted – but it is a beautiful color and it’s not horrible.  I actually like the shoe, but not with this.  The hair, not so much but there’s nothing WRONG with it.  She needs some jewelry – earrings, a necklace, something.

Can we have a MEH category?  Neither In or Out but MEH.

    • marilyn

In.  The color is good for her. The top is a little too low, and the skirt might be better if it went to the floor, but overall, it is just fine.  She looks better than a lot of actresses out there.

    • amanda lynn

IN.  she’s darling. and we have to make her feel better, since she and jason segel have reportedly broken up. i’d be crushed…

    • warnerave

    • alaskahyoung

Out. Too stiff and unflattering. The lenght is definitely a problem and the shoes don’t go.

    • CatherineRhodes

    • Joyce VG

IN. This dress is really cute.

    • Louise Bryan

Well, you might not like it because it looks (from the picture, anyway) like she’s wearing a bathroom carpet wrapped around herself; at least that was my first impression.  OUT!!

    • Tracy Walker

She’s droopy in this dress – though I love the look of the feathers. Looks like she needs to yank it up every five minutes for it to be even potentially flattering.

    • teensmom99

OUT–the dress would be ho hum if not for the feathers so the overall effect is ho hum. And the asymmetrical hair just aint working.  Almost feeling like we should send her to Anne Hathaway’s hairdresser.

    • cheekypinky

Get rid of the Donald Trump hair!

    • Eclectic Mayhem

    • bailey debruynkops

in. the runway styling is pretty bad.

    • Vickiefantastico

I’m not madly in love with Michelle Williams like a lot of people on here, but I think she looks lovely here. The color is perfect for her. It’s a big ol’ IN for me.

    • kirkyo

I like this but I do feel the urge to pet the dress.

    • Kristy Evans

OUT. Too long and those shoes are all wrong.

    • trisker

In. lovely color.  agreed that a feather dress is completely weird, but it’s simple enough she still looks pretty.  Hair is growing out.

    • cleep1000

    • Adriana_Paula

The shoes are all wrong.  I would like this with a different shoe.

    • Jecca2244

i like this dress more than Mila’s McQueen on the homepage.

    • altalinda

Chicken lady.  Actually, up close the feathers are beautiful, but the overall effect, including the broadening of the waist, is an Out for me.

    • LaSylphide

I like the dress, and I like her; I just don’t like that dress on her. Out.

    • Onika K Morris-Alleyne

I think both this and the other dress suffered from a case of the backgrounds…the backdrops are similar in colour to the dresses and you lose her figure.

    • jw_ny

Her hips look high, her bust looks low, short and thick waist-ed, the length is too long, those shoes are heavy, and yes…her hair is not growing on me either.  Pretty color dress tho…

    • Shannon

I’m going to give this an IN because I think it’s just a gorgeous dress and a great color on her. But I think the problem is, Michelle doesn’t really have hips; or that is, her hips are not much wider than her waist. I say this because I have the same problem. Obviously she’s a slip of a woman, but if her waist isn’t significantly smaller than her slim hips, then dresses like this are going to make her look wider than she is, even with the black sash/belt.

    • l_c_ann

    • girliecue

My cats give the feather dress a big huge IN! They love it for many, many reasons – none of which have anything with it being a dress. As for me, I like the dress but not on her, so I’m not sure if it’s an In or Out. But two enthusiastic paws up from the kitties.

    • Bethany Roullett

Out.  Just lot sure why, but no.

    • buffythekid

Out. The length is bad, and those shoes are killing me.

    • butterflysunita

IN.  I love the colors.  And I’m always happy to see vivid colors on the red carpet.  Looks a bit Cookie Monsterish to me, but not in a bad way.

    • MissAmynae

In. My quibbles are minor.  That’s a gorgeous shoe, and imho perfect for this look.

take an inch off the hem, yoink up the bodice, add a little sparkly earring, and it’s really good.

    • demidaemon

OUT. She’s lacking jewelry, especially above the bust, and that ruins the look for me. Also, I agree about the figure obscuring part. The entire look is just…lacking.

    • Trisha26

OUT. Maybe if it were shorter. Do like her hair – and at least she’s not wearing the purple capelet!

    • k. p.

The belt is the culprit. Get rid of it and add some jewelry and she would look fantastic.

    • Michelle O’Brien

OUT. Horrible length and that stiff shape of the bottom does nothing for her.

    • kimmeister

Out on her, because it needed someone with curvier hips to make it work.

    • ashtangajunkie

IN. I love this dress and she looks great.

    • fungstyle

I think the david bowie hair is ruining all of her looks for me right now.

    • Merneith

OUT. “Stiff and a little figure obscuring” is always bad news.

    • Anniebet

So OUT.  She’s standing like the peacock is waiting out of camera view to take his feathers back, by force if necessary. Or, make that a dozen peacocks.

The shape of that dress is dreadfully unflattering. Her short waist is accented by an unnecessary belt – at least I think she has a waist, it’s not clear in this dress. The length is hella awkward. The proportions are just out of whack. And it’s made of FEATHERS. Ugh.

    • Alloy Jane

Cute hair, ugly as fuck dress, Bugs Bunny shoes = OUT.  Man, she’s not even good/bad enough to be Chicken Lady.  At least Chicken Lady would make me laugh.  This did not make me laugh.

    • peachy

OUT> stay on the ledge, just please don’t jump.

the dress is frumpy on her for some reason. her hair is icky — a bit ‘Flock of Seagull-y’ really. and the black belt is atrocious. get that thing off your waist. stat. also ditch the black shoes. too heavy for a light dress made of feathers, silly.

    • snarkykitten

The hem is a weird length. If it were to her knee, I think it would actually be an IN. (except I don’t really want to think where all the feathers came from)

    • karena10

I like this look – the dress is not as twee as her usual look.  I think the hair helps-it is better than her usual pixie cut that accentuates her puffy cheeks.

    • kayleymaybe

OK, I have a 3-year-old and I’ve been watching a lot of Sesame Street lately, but this is just too Cookie Monster/Grover looking for me.  A fabulous dress should not call to mind a blue muppet.

    • jkatkins

OUT.  The length kills is for me.

    • bd73

out. unflattering in almost every way.

    • ThaliaMenninger

No no no no. Pluck that thing and put it out of its misery. OUUUUUUT.

    • libraangel

You don’t like it because it is a typical twee Michelle look: twee little bird dress, twee little shoes, twee little pose

    • Ass Kicking Adviser

Wow do I want that dress. IN

    • Kristen Reyes

It gets an in from me. But I must brign up this next point.

Am I the only one that finds these Oz red carpets really distracting? I’m finding I’m not liking any of the dresses I see with it.  The elements of this dress all seem good, but I cant really see it with all the craziness going around behind her.

    • Kristen Reyes

    • George Mortimer

IN. Aside from being a little too peacock, I really like it.

    • calimon

Meh. It’s definitely not an In.

    • blondie65

Out….the color is the only thing good thing.  Feathers…thick….it just looks ….mossy.  And looking at a dress that brings a word like “mossy” to the forefront…well, not good.

Not to mention ….bad hair…I’m on the verge of irrational hate of her new hair style.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Out the millisecond I realized it was feathers. Ew.

    • commish24

Dress needs to be 10″ shorter, and the shoes should be lighter in design–and not black. I’m thinking pewter or even silver.

    • Joel Phillips

      Out. My eyes are confused…

    • PeaceBang

Out. I also immediately thought of Grover muppet fur. But the shoes are killa.

    • Presumptuous Insect

    • elemspbee

      OUT. should’ve worn the cape.
She can’t rock these more edgy, with a bit of creepy, fashion.

    • marigi

In, beautiful color and I like the texture. She’s thin enough that the length doesn’t do too much ham.

    • DeTrop

It’s the shoes I think.  That strap around the ankle and the heaviness of the shoe kills the overall look.  A prettier and as you say lighter shoe would do the trick.

    • mom2ab

I think her head looks good, the dress is pretty but the belt is not working and the length is odd, don’t mind the shoes…I don’t know is “meh” a category because I can’t work up enough emotion to vote.

    • Pterodactyl111

    • guest2visits

It looks frumpy and square because she chooses dresses that don’t work for her shape. She also hardly ever appears to have the
right kind of bra or support under her clothes – this is no different: the bust is one with the waist.

    • barbarienne

OUT. How do you make a fucking blue and green feather dress look bland and dull?

    • Big Bear

Lol, chicken lady! Blue chicken woman! Out!

    • Rafiq Mohamad

Come on you guys! At least she didn’t went off the twee as fuck route her. I give her props for wearing a feather-tastic dress. In for me. And get off the bloody ledge god damn it. 😉

    • jack mackenna

There’s no point making a dress out of feathers if that’s ALL it has going for it. There’s just nothing particularly interesting about this dress.

    • kikisayshi

It’s too long and looks big in the bust. Overall though, it’s a pretty dress and I get the look. Despite the fit issues it’s IN for me.

    • rottenkitty

It looks to me as if she’s short-waisted — belts are not your friend if you’re short-waisted.  The color is gorgeous, but as everyone else has said, the dress looks very stiff and it doesn’t accentuate anything on her well at all.  (In fact, it kinda makes her very pretty arms look a little too soft.) And the hair looks like it belongs with an entirely different outfit.

    • lalahartma

      It’s fine.

    • Charlie

I’m  horrified that my first thought was … black leather bolero. Shoes need balancing, rocker hair needs highlighting, textures need playing with. Now I’m off to sit in the dunces corner in shame at the thought

    • kathrineb

That was a harsh assessment. I don’t know if I am usually on board with feathers but I think she looks divine. The colour is gorgeous on her and she is rocking the hair, makeup and shoes.

I will confess to being a pretty big fan of her style. She wear feminine clothing that is not OTT or boring.

    • ccm800

OUT – and she’s dull as dust

    • Roxanne Pedro

IN!!! I think she looks fabulous even the hem is too long for her short stature.

    • LambeeBaby

In! The color is magnificent, I am So tired of grey and beige. The dress could be more fitted in the waist. Her make up and hair look pretty too.

    • Diego!

I don’t know but I really like this. IN!

    • Mary Lauer

Dress courtesy of Project Runway some kind of challenge. Shoes WAY too clunky for this look. Out.

    • Rrroza

IN. Unusual and beautiful and perfect for Oz. Love the new haircut. My only quibble: wish the hem were as smooth as on the model.

    • lizlemonglasses

Gorgeous colors, frumpy, boring shape. I wore those shoes to semi-formal in 1998. Next!

    • alyce1213

It does nothing for her, and vice-versa.  This is a ‘girl that is not your dress” for me.

    • JP

It’s unusual and not in a way that makes me say “eeew.” I wish it didn’t sag so low up top, but I really like the color and details. I love, love, love the shoes. IN.
