Freida Pinto in Naeem Khan

Posted on March 26, 2013

Miss Freida is serving up Mumbai Diva Realness.

Freida Pinto attends the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai in a black one-shoulder Naeem Khan dress with gold beaded lace appliqué accessorized with Jimmy Choo sandals.

Naeem Khan Fall 2013 Collection

Jimmy Choo ‘Fitch’ Sandal

Perfect dress for the occasion, and she’s just the gal to be wearing it. But we’re not crazy about where the waist is hitting her. It definitely needs a substantial sash or belt to give it some shape. Without it, it just goes kind of shapeless on her, and not in a drapey, sari kind of way. More of a “that dress doesn’t fit properly” one.

Super-cute shoes, though.

Pretty, but I agree on the waist. She should have worn it like the model.

Totally agree. That weensy little strip of black just looks awkward compared to the bigger strips around her hips. Don’t think it would have been the worst thing to have a hem hitting below the knee in order to balance that shit out.

Frieda looks better in the dress than the model…her sash is too big. Still…something needs/needed to be done with the waist. Otherwise, very pretty.

Oh dear. A gorgeous dress ruined by lack of accessories.

like the dress. dont love the shoes – theres nothing special about them and theyre bordering on tacky.

    • Lauren Frankel

      Those shoes. I want them.

    • jetpackdino

Pretty girl, pretty dress, but I am not feeling the shoe. I like it in the shoe-only photo, but on *her* it’s not that great. I blame the color of the stairs.

Ooh, yes, they do rather clash with the stairs! How unfortunate – I suspect they would’ve looked great on a red carpet.

The ones in the photo of her have platforms, the ones in the promo photo don’t. They look too clunky with platforms.

Just a smidge of bling at the ears & wrist would’ve knocked it out of the park for me. Still, it’s quite the beautiful look. I absolutely adore her. She’s luminous.

    • m0r0

Dress is nothing without the obi.

      • MoHub

The broader waistband on the runway version would have elongated her torso. The way she’s got it makes her look squat.

    • conniemd

Naeem Khan seldom disappoints in making dresses that look interesting.

    • Sobaika

YESSSSS. I am loving this, in case you couldn’t tell. I prefer how the model wears it, but think she is small enough that the waist isn’t that big of an issue for me.

    • MilaXX

Agree it needs a sash, but I also wish she was wearing earrings. Still love the look though.

Dress is screeeaming for that cumberbund. And earrings.

      • MoHub

        Cummerbund

She should’ve worn the version on the model…woulda been a total WERQ. As it is, she looks shapeless and boxy – and she’s neither. Missed opportunity.

    • calimon

Holy cow…literally! It looks as though her hips go straight up to her boobs!

This dress is suffering from a severe case of FLOTUS waist.

Though the dress could use some tweaks in the waist, it’s gorgeous, and absolutely lovely on her. And I’ll take the shoes, thankyouverymuch.

    • kathrineb

Agreed on the sash/belt, it’s a shame because otherwise it’s nice.

    • laurenoodle

I agree on the waist. Overall very pretty.

    • H2olovngrl

She is so pretty! I know how simple that sounds, but that is what I think every time I see her. So nice to see a delicate show with such an intricate print/pattern.

    • butterflysunita

Freida Pinto in Naeem Khan at Mumbai fashion week–what could be lovelier than that? But I agree with you about the waist–the original dress is much better. Wonder why she changed it.

    • elemspbee

This dress is ugly. It’s heavy. that one shoulder and garter waist look is not stylish. Might have made the difference if shwe wore as styled on the model. It’s damn ugly and she looks awkward in it.
      The shoes–pretty.

    • Magatha

I would love to see this exact outfit, person, and place, only photographed better, you know, like at a proper angle. I think we’ve got some weird-angle distortion going on. Although it’d probably still need a better waist treatment.

I agree that this needs the black sash worn on runway. With out looks like a souvenir from a trip south of the border!

    • stubbornthoughts

Also agree it needed the runway sash, but those shoes are DIVINE.

    • warnerave

not feeling the dress on her..

    • Zippypie

Not feeling the dress at all. Looks like an Indian MOB dress the way it’s all shapeless on her. She definitely needs a belt or sash! I love the shoes, just not with this dress. Too matchy-matchy with the gold embellishment. I liked the edgier shoes on the model.

Stop trying to make “fitch” happen.

I swear this site is making me want to train myself to wear heels without hurting/falling/etc. just so I can better fantasize about buying all of the Jimmy Choos featured. (My fantasy is able to make me independently wealthy so that I can afford them already)
