Diane Kruger Double Shot

Posted on March 29, 2013

Look, before you say it: we’re getting a little tired of Diane ourselves. Miss Lady can’t be accused of failing to do the poledance when she’s got a project out, that’s for sure. But the world of celebrity fashion is fairly dull lately, and she just naturally rises to the top whenever she’s in play. Besides…

Diane Kruger attends the 2013 FX Upfront Bowling Event in New York in Jason Wu.

Jason Wu Fall 2013 Collection/Model: Melodie Monrose

Chanel Lego Clutch

…you’ve gotta pay respect to a ladystar who’ll work a bowling party with a Chanel clutch. That’s just good old-fashioned commitment, as far as we’re concerned.

We think this outfit’s really cute. Could’ve done without the hip flaps, and those pants are awfully balloon-y all around the hip-n-ass area, but we can’t hate. The top is adorable and the shoes provide the perfect amount of visual edge. Plus the clutch is a perfect bit of punctuation. It’s all good, as far as we’re concerned.

Next?

Diane Kruger makes an appearance on ‘Good Morning America’ in New York City in Preen.

Preen Pre-Fall 2013 Collection/Model: Bo Don

Loeffler Randall Green Crisscross Mesh Sandal

Now, THAT is really cute. Head-turning cute. We weren’t sure about the pops of chartreuse, but the more we look at it, the more we think they really elevate the look into something fashion-y, rather than just pretty. A perfect TV interview dress; pretty from the front, fashionista from the back.

Love the second one; sort of hate the first one. It just seems so sad-secretary to me.

      • drdarke

Don’t agree, @Melanie Morgan – the first look is easy/breezy and stylish enough to work.

The second? I’m not loving the dress, honestly….

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

I wish there were a little chartreuse on the front of the dress. Not a lot, so as not to give away the surprise when she turns around — but just a little hit, so it doesn’t seem to come out of nowhere when she turns around.

    • http://twitter.com/kbshee kbshee

I am now officially over the lego look.

    • aeb1986

She looks great! Her outfits are sometimes iffy but her hair and makeup are almost always flawless. I LOVE the way she styled the second look, and the dress itself is fabulous. I want a leggo clutch!

    • nannypoo

In the first look I don’t like the puffy top with the puffy pants. It’s all too puffy. The second look is great. I don’t like the style of the shoes but I like the color. I suppose it’s not easy to find chartreuse booties, so we’ll work with what we have.

    • Louise Bryan

I love that Preen dress. Really, I love that Preen dress.

      • butterflysunita

I love it too. Great dress for spring.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I LOOOOVE the Preen dress. I think everything about that look is great.

I’m not so much on board with the first look. It makes her look really short-waisted. And I don’t like the peplum and the fit of the pants, anyway.

    • Anathema_Device

Love the top on the first look. Reminds me of one of my favorite Grace Kelly outfits from Rear Window. The pants are a little too Weebles* for me.

Absolutely love everything about the second look.

      * “Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down!”

    • http://twitter.com/Kate4Queen Kate Pearce

I don’t like any of it, but that might just be me being grumpy today.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

Love the second outfit, but don’t like anything about the first one. It takes some work to make Diane Kruger look lumpty and stumpy, but that first outfit pulls it off.

    • AndresB

“The ugliest green I’ve ever seen.” “No, it’s chartreuse.”
Not a fan of a print where a sailor feel dissolves into confetti behind bars, and isn’t that yet another case of visible zipper disease? Nay to look 2.
As for #1, great top, and she’s the right gal for the lego purse nonsense because we think she thinks it’s nonsense… she can’t help looking classy and I can’t help saying Yay to this, although the idea that pants now have to sport peplums too strikes me as rather scary.

    • j_anson

Somehow the intro phrase for the second look had me thinking you were going to critique it. So in my head I was like, “Nooooo, TLo, nooooo! That outfit is awesome” But then it turned out I was on the same page. Always nice to be sympatico. :)

    • kmk05

Really hate the peplums of look 1, but her hair and makeup are both flawless. Love everything about look 2 except her hair and makeup (I especially hate her hair: it ages her something fierce!). WHY MUST YOU MAKE LIFE SO HARD DIANE KRUGER!

    • rh33

love, love, love the second dress.

    • teensmom99

Diane should give a tutorial in “what to wear on tv.” Cannot agree more re pop of color elevating it to fashiony. At first, I thought “nice synagogue/church dress” and then I saw the shoes . . . and it was elevated.

    • MilaXX

We’ll be seeing even more of her once she starts pole dancing for her new shoe. *I don’t love her, but I do like that she puts in the effort and manages not to look silly most of the time. First look I like but I’m not crazy about the shoes. Second look I love It’s the perfect look for morning tv.
*ETA: That sounds like I dislike. I don’t, but she’s never been one I feel particularly fangirly about.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      Die peplums! Die!
I just love her. Full stop.

      • Vlasta Bubinka

I do hate a peplum, but I’ll take them over the exposed zipper trend that should’ve been burnt over twice and salted by now.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

          Word.

      • ankali

I love seeing all of the individual fashion-element jihads here.

      • Jessi03

I just read that like it was in German for a second, translating it to “The peplums! The!” before I realized what you were saying. Time for more coffee!

        • snowy_owl_000

          Now I can’t unsee it either! :)

      • barbarienne

Seriously! We’re adding peplums to pants now? Why is this even a thing?!?!?

Next it’ll be peplums on athletic wear.

        • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Don’t give anyone at Lululemon any ideas.

          • Victoria Perry

You win the internet this morning.

    • elemspbee

yes, dress with yellow shoes head turning for sure. balloony top with balloony pants not at all!

    • GwenDiamonds

Can this woman stand up straight or otherwise perpendicular? She looks like she’s been attached to a mannequin pole or has some “tum-tum” problems in need of, well, Tums.

    • jetpackdino

I love that second outfit. This has made my day. YES, Diane Kruger ftw!!

    • BrooklynBomber

I j’adore those Chanel bags; probably useless in terms of carrying anything larger than a lipstick and $1000 bill, but. . . sigh. . .

      • jetpackdino

        I share your feelings.

Maybe I can make one of these using my son’s Lego kits…

        • BrooklynBomber

Ha! Great idea. Would you do me a favor and make the strap a little shorter? It’s awfully long. ;)

          • jetpackdino

I live to serve! Consider it done. :)

            • BrooklynBomber

              merci!

    • formerlyAnon

First look is riding on her pocket-size. Agree about the hip flaps, and I dislike the shoes because I get the impression their angle from toe to heel is literally causing her to incline forward. Her choice to wear movement-impairing shoes, sadly I’ve drunk the kool aid and often love them, but if she *looks* movement-impaired it ruins the look for me.

      Like 2nd look much better.

    • marilyn

She is too shortwaisted to wear the first look. It is not attractive on her. She is doing her part to look good for the second look, but the dress is a thrown together mess. A blue print with red and chartreuse accents. Someone just got out of design school. She did her best to find chartreuse shoes (how easy can that be?), but the dress does not do her justice.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

I want the red boots on the Preen model.

    • Imasewsure

Like the first (love an actual strap on a RC purse too). Love the second after learning to respect and accept the chartreuse shoes. 2/2 in my score card.

    • alyce1213

The first look is simply horrendous, HORRENDOUS!
The Preen dress is eye-catching and suits her. I like the bright strappy sandals, but they’re a bit premature, seasonally speaking.

    • Trisha26

Love the second look. I hate the first look with a passion – short balloony pants with hip flaps, blouson top that just makes her look busty, the shoes look bulky and awkward, and that flat hair. Total miss.

    • understateddiva

She’s my hero with these! She doesn’t always make a good decision, but it always looks like she *made* a decision. Brava!

    • conniemd

I can take or leave peplum. I love the blouse on the first look. Overall she looks elegant in pants. Second look is perfect for venue of morning talk show.

    • LaSylphide

Knock-kneed and pigeon-toed will make any pants look awful, especially those. With better posing, that first look would be stunning. Love the second one too: unusual without being weird, and it’s very flattering.

    • http://twitter.com/butternut718 butternut

i LOOOOOOOOVE that preen dress. the shoes are perfection with it. i need that whole outfit.

    • Zippypie

Really love the dress, even with the chartruse. The lady pants are horrible and that halter top thing, just no. Very unflattering lines all around.

    • carolie_king

Thumbs up for the Lego/pop of chartreuse/confetti dress, but I’ll go with the majority on exposed zipper hate.

      • DesertDweller79

Yes. The exposed zipper is the one big flaw for me. That trend really needs to die.

    • DesertDweller79

I so love that Lego clutch. I am not at all into purses and handbags. I don’t understand most womens’ obsession with them. But, this is so cool and fun. I wish I could own one.

Really like that second dress. That is really cute! She looks fabulous in it.

    • Kenisha Hill Phillips

I like the idea of the first look, but I can’t with whatever the hell is happening around her hips. The second look is cute.

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

That second dress is a flawless victory.

    • librarygrrl64

Pants that make even Diane Kruger look hippy. Uh, no thanks. But that second outfit is fabulous!!!

    • guest2visits

The first is tacky and badly proportioned, but the shoes are great. The second is beautiful; love it all.

    • http://www.facebook.com/sarahnelson.00 Sarah Lynn Nelson

Did you watch the interview by chance on GMA? She said she doesn’t use a stylist and chooses all her own outfits…. Truth or fiction???

    • http://twitter.com/TVcastingcall Reality TV Casting

she is a goddess plunked upon this earth to remind us mere mortals of our inferiority

    • SophieCollier

I think she looks great in both styles. My only complaint honestly is that the strap on the Chanel purse is too long. A handbag shouldn’t hang down to one’s knees.

    • disqus_sZRDWtvvVD

She really has a range, doesn’t she? I don’t always love her outfits, but hair + make-up = always perfect.

    • http://www.facebook.com/suzie.vazquez Suzie Vazquez

I love her sense of fun with fashion. She’s one of my favorites on the red carpet.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/37TPKASIMXVUPYK5BNQFOL43KU Carina

I can’t get enough of her. That Preen dress is perfection.

    • tereliz

That Preen dress! To die! Not 100% behind the first look, but the second one, with those sandals is just perfect. Why is that outfit not in my closet RIGHT NOW?

    • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Love the Preen dress, not sure about the first look, but it’s time to call it: she’s the 21st Century Marlene Deitrich. Now if she (or any European) can only get a couple of sympathetic Hollywood roles.

    • Mariah J

Love that dress…the balloon pants ruined the first look for me

    • lalahartma

The first is so wrong, second is cool.
