Annasophia Robb in Alice+Olivia

Posted on March 21, 2013

Once again: super-cute dress + highly questionable accessories. Brace yourselves, darlings.

Annasophia Robb attends the ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ Broadway Opening Night after party in New York City in an Alice + Olivia striped shift dress paired with Jean-Michel Cazabat pumps.

Alice + Olivia Paige Striped Leather Shift Dress

We are so very NOT loving the trend of platform shoes with slightly pointy toe boxes. Such an odd shape for the foot.

Okay, the dress is very, very cute. It takes a special little lady to pull off a black-and-white, barber-striped leather mini-dress. We think we might be able to get on board with those pink shoes, but oh, GIRL, the bag completely throws off the whole look. What were you thinking, sweetie? Hmm? Did you bring some knitting with you, in case the play got boring? It’s the wrong scale for the look and you can’t really get away with pairing such focus-pulling pops of color in your accessories. They work against each other. Also: bright pink and synthetic Easter grass-green? Bleh. Switch those shoes out for a pair of silver metallic somethings, and then pick a much smaller clutch with one pop of color to it. There. You’re gorgeous. You’re also welcome.

P.S. Your makeup looks cute.

That purse is awful! Such a cute outfit without it, too.

Was she just at the farmers market with her repurposed bag picking up some kale and escarole?

      • gabbilevy

Gimme a bag about 3x that size with real handles for my next trip to the weekend market. Love it! Spring is in the air, baby! (But please, Annasophia, not on the red carpet)

      • Vlasta Bubinka

I like the bag for hauling stuff to a stitch -n- bitch…

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

          Ooh can I go with?

          • Vlasta Bubinka

hell yes… I do the sewing stitch-n-bitch, not the knitting.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Awesome! Now all we have to deal with is the distance issue.

    • RebeccaKW

I might be fine with pink shoes, but not those pink shoes. Give you hoof foot. That bag is meant for the beach or the pool. The dress is cute. She really looks different w/o the Carrie wig.

    • susan6

Maybe that’s just some sort of swag bag that was given to stars who show up at the event? ‘Cause it’s too fugly to be a purse.

    • NC_Meg

I appreciate that she is trying to give two little pops of color but boy, are those the wrong accessories. I LOVE the dress, though.

      • H3ff

It perfectly illustrates how the wrong accessories can fuck up an otherwise great look. The same shoes and a shiny silver clutch would have been perfection.

I hereby dub this day, the 21st of March, Year of Our Lord 2013, the Day of the Scroll Down Fug. Geez Louise, starlets. Do better tomorrow!

Love the dress. Not sure I hate the bag as much as the shoes.

    • NDC_IPCentral

In fact — and I haven’t finished reading it — the review of the play in today’s New York Times said it was a fairly downbeat show, far truer to the darker aspects of Capote’s original than was the sunnier Hepburn movie. That doesn’t excuse that bag, though.

    • MilaXX

She looks like she ran into the wardrobe closet at work to pick her accessories. That bag belongs with a flowy garden party dress and the shoes look like they belong to Elle Fanning. Cute dress, hair & makeup though.

      My brain hurts.
Between the awesomeness that have been today’s WERQs, nearly theres, Attagirls, and dear god what is she wearings, on top of Round One of Fug Madness, I am incapable of forming an opinion of this sweet girl and her misguided accessories.
You get a pass young lady. You and your ugly bag.

    • marilyn

Maybe that horrid bag was a gift bag, given to all of the beautiful people who showed up. Or, maybe she needs to save it for the beach, or when she goes to brunch. Or, throw it out.

      • formerlyAnon

That honestly was my first thought – that the bag was the event gift bag.

    • formerlyAnon

Recovering Lilly Pulitzer addict. Can’t let go of that pink+grass green.

    • MoHub

Her lipstick is the same magenta as the shoes!

    • another_laura

T Lo, thanks for the warning! Gawd, this is chapter and verse on How to Destroy a Potentially Adorable Look.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Did she have the heels shortened on those shoes or is she sinking into the carpet?

The head & shoulders shot is great. The rest? Not so much.

    • Adriana_Paula

Those shoes look like pink flatirons. And I’ve used a flatiron more than once when the power went out, so I should know.

    • stubbornthoughts

      Audible gasp of terror.

    • Imasewsure

Ok with the shoes, love the dress but can’t imagine where or how that bag would look good with anything (swag bag, farmer’s market bag but not fashion)

    • Guest

I love a pop of color with an otherwise neutral outfit, but those shoes and that ridiculous clutch are just too much…

    • thelovelydove

I love pops of color (especially with black and white looks) but I just can’t get behind those shoes. They’re heinous.

    • snarkykitten

why is dick pink lipstick making a comeback? It looks flattering on roughly no one

      • Anniebet

I can just hear Beavis and Butthead saying “dick pink heh heh heh huh huh huh”

    • libraangel

My eyes need to be surgically removed they hurt so much

    • jetpackdino

Oh, exactly. Such a darling girl, she looks great in that dress, but this is a missed Shoe Opportunity. There are few things that grieve me more. With so many amazing shoes out there in this world, and with life being so short, a missed Shoe Opportunity hurts us all.

    • PrunellaV

At first glance I assumed that was a shopping bag. The whole look is very cartoonish.

    • Toto Maya

SHE ALWAYS HAS THE SAME EXPRESSION ON HER FACE. It’s weirding me out!

    • CarolinLA

It looks like she lost a bet with someone and had to carry that bag.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

OK WE GET IT CARRIE BRADSHAW IN THE 80′S WILL YOU BRANCH OUT A LITTLE NOW?!

    • MemHey

      More Pantone Emerald…

    • ralish

I think she actually looks pretty cute. The bag’s too big and the shoe color isn’t awesome, but I think she’s doing a fairly good job of pulling this look off regardless.

    • boweryboy

I get what she was going for… the dress is a classic 60s shift silhouette and the combination of hot pink and poison green is a classic 60s color combination.

If she had better shoes – a kitten heel perhaps – and a smaller clutch I would be on board.

It’s not the colors of the accessories that throw me off but the size and shape of them.

      • lobsterlen

Yes I can see it now. Hot pink kitten heels and a small poison green clutch may have turned this into a WERQ.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

OUCH! My eyes just started spiraling, like Wile E. Coyote’s did when he got bonked by the Road Runner.

    • crash1212

Love the dress. Love the shoes (as an aside, I’m a size 10 and tried a pair of similar looking shoes the other day and they made my feet look so teeny – comfy, too – I’m a fan of the shape) with the dress. CANNOT with the purse. WTF? That is the oddest choice of bag for this. Make-up and hair are cute.

    • notterriblybitter

The dress is so cute and so perfect for her that I’ll forgive the shoes and the purse.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/37TPKASIMXVUPYK5BNQFOL43KU Carina

Is that bag from the going-out-of-business accessories warehouse on Broadway? Did she just grab it off some street vendor? Cheap-looking and ugly to boot. Her head looks lovely though.

    • Erica_Vuitton

I thought the shoes were flats that’s such an odd angle! LOVE that dress and her hair and make up is beautiful. But the purse is just WAY too big for the look and ruins it.

    • carolie_king

I have to disagree w/ the majority, just on the hair – style is fine, but it looks like she’s been rubbing balloons on it.

    • Alyssa

LOVE the dress, makeup is very well done, wrong shoes & bag.

    • lobsterlen

She is the baby Carrie … right? Anyone catch that show? Isn’t it any good? The shoes don’t ruin the look as much as the bag.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Cute dress, but totally wrong bag. And I’m really tired of the bubblegum pink lipstick.

    • mmc2315

Make-up is VERY cute. It looks like a difficult dress to wear, but it’s very nice on her. Laughing about the scroll down POP of color, then another POP.

    • tereliz

Silver shoes, hot pink clutch. How hard is it to style this dress? I’m starting to get the idea that her stylist thinks she ACTUALLY IS Carrie.

    • OneBonBonIsPoison

Keep the color of the shoes, but in matte leather to avoid the dueling textures. Burn the bag.

    • bd73

clearly the dress pattern messed with her vision and she picked the purse and shoes before her eyes readjusted.

    • MandyM

I loved this until I got to the shoes. I could do the bag but the shoes are just awful!

    • kathrineb

      Cute dress!

    • Frank Lithium

Why do you have to ruin that perfect look with the out-of-place shoes and bag girl?
