Rachel Zoe Fall 2013 collection inspired by English equestrian and Seventies glamour.

I’m fine with most of this. The Camo print Mustt Go Away, however.
Whoever decided that would be “the thing” this season, should die in a fire. I’m from the south and I see too much camo as it is. It needs to leave my safe space.
It’s associations with hunting and the military aside, camouflage is one of the single ugliest patterns on earth.
I’m not sure why some people don’t seem to understand that camo isn’t supposed to be attractive. It’s meant to hide you, specifically from things you want to kill or which want to kill you.
I know that for some of the gay men out there, it’s all about Camo having subtexual hyper-masculine meanings. So considerations of relative attractiveness are out the door.
It isn’t supposed to be attractive, but in general, fashion is supposed to be attractive. This isn’t avant-garde conceptual clothes that are supposed to “say” something. They’re supposed to be pretty, ATTRACTIVE, garments that people want to buy and wear.
Fashion has a long history of taking practical elements and making them decorative.
I didn’t see cammo so much as bad ’70′s powder room ”washable” wallpaper patterns.
It’s nice, but it doesn’t look as polished or cohesive as it should. I hate the paisley too.
second tier mall wear – one with a JCP or Sears as its main anchor. Not bad – just , meh.
on second look, pretty bad – nothing even close to original or for the most part, even interesting…. next
After just viewing Chado Ralph Rucci? Please.
Does it bother anyone else that she clearly had the models done up to look like her?
we’re used to that!
She has always done that! Back in the early ’00s when her stylist star ascended, it seemed like half of young Hollywood was running around looking just like her and each other.
She always does that. It’s good for the ego, y’know.
I thought the same thing. It’s part of her six point plan for world domination. Step Seven is to eat a sammich.
She pulled an Anthony Ryan! Or did Anthony Ryan pull a Rachel Zoe…?
Such drab colors.
Exactly! Why not a little color??
Hate capes so much that I almost didn’t bother to scroll down. I like the coat (sweater?) on the left of the 5th row, but I’d like it better without the bow. Would you always wear it open? I can’t see buttons or buttonholes and I don’t like the idea of buttoning it closed with that bow.
Not my cup of drab. She should have had her adorable baby boy crawl next to the models or something.
Meh. Ralph Lauren has done it better, many times.
The gorilla fur jacket in the bottom row made me laugh out loud.
The hair is a mess and the hats look like what Uncle Jed wore on The Beverly Hillbillies. People actually pay her money to select their wardrobe?
Some of this is OK, but there’s nothing original or extra interesting that she did with any of the pieces. You could get just about this whole collection at the mall, in some form or other.
I also hate, hate, HATE the floor-length wide-legged pants. HATE.
Oy, I really hate some of her fabric selections. The more contemporary grey and black stuff I like. It’s not earth shakingly innovative, but tasteful and wearable. Everything with color or pattern I find pretty hideous.
I like the few paisley-ish pieces, the white dress, and the black and grey outfits (my color palette of course) but the rest, just ok.
I love it – but I feel like I’m looking through a Macy’s catalog. Not exactly innovative risk taking. It’s stuff that would work for me in my little life with my ordinary everything.
Second row, pantsuit and vest on the right – gorgeous. True that after viewing Rucci, the colors aren’t as vibrant, but there are so many beautiful wearable pieces here. Love it.
I love the suit in the 1st row (3rd look), but I can take or leave the rest of the collection.
That was the one look that stood out to me too. Her previous collections were a little more interesting.
After Chado Ralph Rucci, these are just mall wear. I love the Zoe, but looking at her line now is like being subjected to the comic styling of Carrot Top after being treated to a set from Richard Pryor.
I liked her last collection, but this was really does look kmart/kohl level and especially after looking at Chado Ralph Rucci.
Rachel Zoe is the Rachel Zoe woman, isn’t she? I suppose designing for yourself is a point of view.
Many female designers do follow that mantra, though their point of view is wrapped up in that. Laura Bennett from PR is definitely one who does so. I also think Jillian (from PR S4, can’t remember her last name) followed this idea as well.
Blah. Why are designers so in love with black and gray?
Ah yes, the Fuck Color collection.
“Inspired by 70s glamour” is kind of implied when the designer is Rachel Zoe, isn’t it? Seems a little redundant.
Is it just me or does her leather look cheap and weird? Is it because it is cheap and weird? Or because it’s fake leather. Looks like the sort of “SO NOT LEATHER” leather trimmings you find on JCP pieces.
Yes, especially the black. I’m not against faux leather, I just dislike it looking cheap as it does here.
I am not really seeing “English Equestrian”.
Eh, it’s okay. I wish the taupe was either more beige or more chocolate.
Does she seek out the most emaciated looking models possible?
Uhh, most of this looks just like the last collection she showed. The suits and tops especially.
Rachel, it-is-time to go back to your job as full-time mom. Oh, and don’t come back
If one could combine Diane Von Furstenberg’s abilities with Rachel Zoe’s sensibilities, I think we’d have a ’70s-inspired line to suit me.
Hmm, it’s cute. Some very wearable pieces. But after seeing all the amazing colors this week it feels a bit dour. Doesn’t have the glamour or the OOMPH of some of the other collections.
Fairly dull. I like the white pants suit in row 2. The Cousin It fur jackets are so overdone. You need to retire those, Rachel. Haven’t they been in every one of your collections now?
Claud Montana knock offs..
Claude Montana reference! You win
There are a few cute looks, but pretty bleh overall. And am I really seeing pleated, cuffed leather pants? Why?
Meh. She’s really not much of a designer. Her collections are either rip-offs, derivative of other designers or unimaginative trend pieces.
Love that funky chic, white girl…
Ehh its clothes.
Do we need this collection? It’s just fine, but nothing seems too distinguished – or exciting.
My thoughts exactly. It’s just dull.
I generally don’t care for her stuff, but this is fine.
I don’t really see the glamour part. This is all fine RTW, though. The camo handkerchief miniskirt is all kinds of wrong.
No color whatsoever. #Barf
You know, if you’re not wearing your glasses, the title reads *Rachel Zoe Fail 2013 Collection*.
She should just stop.
I usually hate Rachel Zoe on principle. Because she is personally odious. But most of these are darling. Except Camo, for all of the reasons others have said. And that piece with the brown duct tape going down the center top. That’s like she was channeling Michael Kors. And his stuff just sucks.
What Rachel Zoe collection isn’t “inspired” by soi-disant “seventies glamour”? It’s all so very boring and repetitive. She needs to stop already, or at the very least the world needs to stop encouraging her.
Rachel: go home to your baby and leave the styling/designing to people who can do it much better
As much as I like Victoria B.’s collections being derivative of her style, I cannot stand the fact that R.Z. never steps out of her comfort zone (unlike VB’s style, Rz’s doesn’t change much at all; yawn it is), after all she is a stylist, no?
