NYFW Fall 2013

Posted on February 06, 2013

It’s time for the Style Super Bowl once again, darlings!

We’re dashing off to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, which means our week ahead will occasionally look like this:

And we will be loving every minute of it.

Not pictured: Hunger, crankiness, shoving, feet on FIRE with pain, frantically hailing cabs (to no avail), and of course, coffee. Lots and lots and lots of coffee.

GOD, we love it.

We’ll be covering the collections here on the site, as time and scheduling permits, but if you really want all the up-to-the-minute T Lo reactions to everything from the latest Marchesa gown to who’s sitting in the front rows, you should follow along with us on Twitter, because we tweet our thumbs down to nubs by the end of the week. We’re twitmaniacs when it comes to Fashion Week. But don’t worry, our posting schedule will be erratic, but full as always. We’ll keep updating the site with our bitchery.

Ciao for now, darlings! We’ll spare a moment or two to think of you all while we’re off being fabulous! Play nice, now!

YAY! It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it! Have lots of fun & don’t leave any details out! Mwah!

    • Zippypie

Have a fabulous time, Uncles T & Lo!  Can’t wait for all the beauty and bitchery to commence!

    • Sobaika

      Have a DELICIOUS time!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

And in between being enormously JEALOUS of you both for getting to be so fabulous, we will hold the banner of PUFdom high. Fear not!
Have the Most Awesomest Time Ever.

      • meowing

Oh, we sooo need a banner of PUFdom!

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’ll get to work on that. I could end up becoming the Betsy Ross of the BKs LOL

          • Call me Bee

Or we could do it as a Fashion Banner Bee–with those of us that are good with a needle all contributing some stitches.  Wouldn’t that be awesome?

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

              Love it!!!!

            • l_c_ann

Decades ago, I made a kilt for myself (and learned the hard way what a bitch sewn down pleats to fit can be on a female body), and found that I could buy a kilt big saftey pin for twelve dollars or a horse blanket pin for fifty cents.

        • joything

          Ditto! PUFdom uber alles!

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Hmmmm. Do I need to design a uniform for our conquering hordes?

            • meowing

We’ll take the whole ki(l)t and kaboodle, Kiltdntiltd!  We could string up the banner at the T Lo Lounge every Thursday, too.

            • Rand Ortega

               AWESOME!

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

And I promise you I will not force everyone into kilts.

              And, no capes!!!

            • kimmeister

Also no mullet skirts or sheer-over-granny-panties.  I wouldn’t mind a peplum but it seems like most of my fellow PUFs would revolt at the sight of one.

            • Qitkat

But I want a kilt, and a cape! Have I ever mentioned here that I, a straight female, have actually worn a kilt, complete with sporran and spats, but no cape, several times? I was in a Scottish marching band in high school, in Dunedin, Florida, which to this very day, wears the Dress Stewart Tartan. You can find pictures of the Highlanders on line and facebook.

            • gabbilevy

No capes! Edna Mode is smiling, dahling.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I knew someone would get the reference.
              Bless!

            • gabbilevy

Of course! She’s one of my faves!

            • Liz Van Alstine

And machine washable. That’s a new feature.

            • formerlyAnon

               I’m seeing capes.

            • another_laura

Yes, please, and in 24 hours.  You may spend $150 on your prototype and I must insist:  no drop-crotch jeans.  Incorporate the PUF logo (which you may also now design).  Ready, steady, GO!

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Clearly, in order to attend to all the varied design needs of my fellow BKs, a line of coordinating seperates is in order.

But I promise you all, no mullet skirts, granny panties, illusion netting, or putty colored anything!

            • MilaXX

               and no exposed zippers!

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

              Heaven forfend!!!

            • bitchybitchybitchy

We fellow BK’s and PUF”s have the utmost confidence that you will create something fabulous for us!

            • 3boysful

               TOO funny!  (And spot-on.)

            • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

               Yes please. With shiny boots.

      • Jackie4g

Sorry to not know for sure, but might that acronym be Precious Unborn Fawns?

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Sure is! You got it in one.

          • AnotherCelia

It is kinda exciting to me that I’ve been reading here long enough that I knew what “PUF” was right away!

    • Louise Bryan

C’mon up to the city that never sleeps.  Looking forward to your unique perspective on all the goods.  (((XX)))

    • mjude

enjoy boys, your bitter kittens will be waiting for you!

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

      Have fun! Keep hydrated.

    • MilaXX

      Have fun storming the castle!

      • MzzPants

         Think they’ll make it?

        • http://onebluetree.blogspot.com/ Sara L.

          It would take a miracle.

          • GorgeousThings

            Hahahahahahaha! Snort!
One of the best movies, EVAH!

            • MilaXX

This is why I love my fellow BK’s.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

        Wuv, twue wuv…..

    • Celandine1

Good lord, there will probably be 14 Project Runway collections seeing as how we are only a few weeks in. And good lord, someone smack me because that was actually the first thought I had when I saw TLo post about Fashion week.

      • peacockprincess

I had the exact same reaction.  At this point they should just start with everyone showing a collection and start cutting from there.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m picturing Mr. Hallmarq forcefully reminding one and all that that is “Hallmarq, with a “q”when he introduces his collection.

    • l_c_ann

      Beloved uncles,
Please take your coldest weather clothes, just in case the blizzard happens (and that means unfashionable wellies, etc.).

And, kind sirs, any guesses how many of this season’s PR group have made ‘fashion’ as decoys?  Please don’t say all but three of the contestants!

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Seems pretty likely that almost everyone will be showing at Fashion week. Seems to me to be the most significant malfeasance, making it seem like such a rare and fab honor, when nearly all the contestants actually get to show.

Flip side? Imagine how hilariously bad some of them will no doubt be. A perfect chance for some major snarkery.

        • Qitkat

I shudder. Hilariously horrifying I would say. Perhaps in a weird twist there will only be two team showings so as to really throw us off. No? Has Heidi been saying that this is part of the prize package this year? Because I haven’t, you know, been paying attention.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Well, we know that Morticia could title her collection “Fashion to Die For”. OK, now I”m ducking, but I.could.not.resist.

    • CC06

TLo, if you haven’t tried, check out “Uber.”  They are like cabs, except you know they will in fact show up, not talk on the phone all the time, or get cranky that you are using a credit card to pay.

      • MilaXX

Does it work well in NY? Friends of mine tried it in DC during Inauguration weekend and weren’t overly impressed.

        • CC06

It works well for me during normal times.  I could see people having issues during the inauguration though, given how many people were in town for that.  Though there will be a lot of people at Fashion Week, I don’t think it will get to the level inauguration had.

    • formerlyAnon

Revel in it, gentlemen. Revel in it.

We shall be waiting, keeping the hearth fires burning until your return.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Oh, dear hearts, you’re about to be in the teeth of quite a gale on Friday, too.  Bad luck, but I’m sure you’ll find a way to be fabulous in spite of snow, sleet, rain and dark of night.  We’ll be looking forward to your inimitable reportage.  Hope you can provide us with a TLOunge tomorrow night while you’re being busy just south of me.

      Courage, gentlemen, courage!

    • Call me Bee

How exciting for our favorite Uncles.  I hope you send lots of pix with your tweets–I”ll be hanging on every word.  Please–send me a postcard!

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

      TLO: You Betta WERQ!

    • snarkykitten

      Have fun! Rub elbows! Hobnob!

    • girliecue

Speaking of playing, may we please play Tom’s Tiny Head this FW? We’ve been such good Bitter Kittens! So bitter. And kittenish. Hope you both stay healthy, pretty and score some major swag!

    • Funkykatt

Why can’t these two get a show on Bravo or something similar.

      • Melvis Velour

Because BM/Magical Elves can’t exert full and total control over what comes out of them…like some other show we’ve all grown to despise…Tim Gunn or no Tim Gunn

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I vote for “Cocktails and Dish with Joe Zee, Tom and Lorenzo” on Sundance.

    • GorgeousThings

Have fun! I hope you are able to dodge the weather on Friday.

      • Scarlet39

That was my thought too!  It’s supposed to get really yucky, but hopefully the worst of it will miss the city!

    • http://www.myblackfriendsays.com myblackfriendsays
