Monique Lhuillier Fall 2013 collection inspired by “opulence and drama,” Art Deco motifs, and rich jewel tones.

This is my type of collection. I just adore everything about this! I’m such a sucker for art deco influences and dark, rich colors. That dark green, slinky, glittery, long sleeve dress is killing me!
I’m with you. I want every last one of them but I’d run over grandma to get that green one. It literally made me gasp audibly.
Interesting, my reactions went from “ooh, pretty!” to “meh” based on the dress. Love the emerald green on the left third from the bottom. And like the architectural look of some of these.
The architectural look AND the symmetry! Nearly every dress has perfect symmetry, it’s almost jarring. I bet seeing the garments alone, I’d love them, but all of these photos grouped together makes for a strange, robotic-like effect for my eyes.
Yes to the gowns! No to the dresses with jackets over them. Definitely no to the shankle/socks.
Those gowns are to die for. Some ornate and detailed, then that gorgeous simple black into green. Gorgeous
Do you mean row 6, on the right? That was my fave, too.
Yes, I could just stare at the colors as an abstract wall art and lose myself in them.
the first dress is GORGE but the position of that “eye” is distracting
Insert key to unlock my treasure! (Sorry.)
Yes! There are several other distracting placements as well … In the zebra-y/yellow prints, there appear to be faces in questionable areas.
Sooooo pretty! I hope the opening picture stays on the runway. That nude with black is going to look good on very few. I really love that ombre green gown. Please let someone take a chance on that. I also love the red on the next to the last row, but I’m not sure how it would work if you are not model tall.
Nicole Kidman would try the nude/black art deco gown with a modification or two, don’t you think? Don’t know if it would work or not but I picture her in it. Love that green ombre, and I agree — I hope we get to see someone wear it on the red carpet.
Not sure I would like it on someone so pale.
Honey, I am going to grab that nude/black dress, raise the hem to crotch level, and do a few triple axels! :) Seriously, the entire collection is really gorgeous, IMO. Though nude is often poorly done, this nude/black feels so fresh and architectural. Lace has also been overdone, but is worked so beautifully here (I particularly love the red dress with the grey lace bodice). And emerald green gowns can, to me, look too mother-of-the-bride at times, but these are really stunning. I’m mentally giving this collection a whole-hearted standing ovation right now!
That malachite dress is stunning, and I love the top gown and the long gold one, too. Is it me, or does the last row kind of look like it belongs to another collection?
I had the same reaction to the purple dress. It borders on tacky, and it’s the only purple dress there. Purple could look pretty with the rich greens and blacks, but that dress is just a low cut purple lace dress that could have been worn in a bordello.
Lets predict which ones will end up at the Oscars (and which stars)?
Mostly beautiful, except … FRINGE :( And WTF shoes?
“Shankle” – that’s hilarious! (and so right)
Saw the video of this show – the green ombre gown in Row 6 put me in a trance. Loved the whole collection.
It’s like a dream. A good dream. Like when you can fly or a world without the Karsahians.
Especially love the two emerald green gowns (first pics in their rows).
That first dress is so stunning, until you scroll down to the “eyegina” hovering a few inches below her crotch.
BEAUTIFUL! Start to finish, all the way through – gorgeous!
Wrap it up, please. I’ll take it all to go.
LOVE those greens. I often wish that the photos were numbered in these posts, so we could refer to them more easily but I understand that may not be possible–or may be take too much time to make it worthwhile.
What a gorgeous collection. I wish you had not put this on a whiteboard post.
Some of those gold prints look like something straight out of a Klimt painting. Gorgeous.
Love a lot of this, but some of it is just too much.
I like it better in reverse – it gets better backwards.
The gowns in rows 6 & 7 are pretty spectacular. I love the colors — gorgeous greens and reds.
The only one I don’t like is the grey-ish color in the last row, which looks soot-damaged.
The first gold print dress really reminds me of Alexander McQueen. Love this collection!
Pretty, but there’s A LOT going on with most of these dresses. I imagine they will wear many women and not the other way around.
I never realized before how much Lhuillier is such a fan of spotlighting The Good China.
This! I get that symmetrical patterning is a thing, and can be beautiful, but would it kill them to adjust the pattern a bit so it’s not so focused….?
Third row from bottom, Ombre sheath on the right – Jennifer Lawrence.
Bottom row, middle gray dress – Naomi Watts.
So many of these are simply gorgeous. I can’t wait to see them on the read carpet. Stylists and Stars, please choose wisely.
OMG! Florence Welch in 6th row, 1st column, amirite?!
Edited to add the last one, too.
My thought exactly! Her stylist should pick up the phone and dial, STAT. Any of the green gowns, or the purple one, would look divine on her.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Perfect on her. I also adore the green ombre – but not for Flo.
How do you pronounce her last name? Gorgeous clothes, as usual.
Phonetically, something like Wheel-yay.
Wow! Unbelievably fabulous!
Some of the linear patterns remind me of TRON, and a few patterns are way, way to busy. But starlets will be cutting one another to wear that emerald green gown.
LOVE. IT. ALL. I can’t wait to see these pieces on the red carpet.
That first dress is MINE. Mine, bitches!!
The green draped gown in next to last row on the left looks like liquid malachite….GORGEOUS!! And that first gown is Anne Hathaway’s Oscar dress-drama ga-LORE!!
All of these are striking but the reds and greens are my favourites. The purple looks a bit out of place…
Cate Blanchett in that gold gown, third row down, center column.
Gorgeous and imaginative looks; hope to see most all of these again on celebrity types.
Love the flowy green malachite gown, and the sparkly green one above it, and the tiger butterfly print above it, and the gold dresses…
that first one is a J LO or K Stew oscar dress if I ever saw one
That first dress is so stunningly gorgeous. Who do you s’pose will wear it to the Oscars? Second fave is the
WOW, this is my kind of fashion! Take away the couple of animal-ish prints, and I would eat the rest up with a spoon. Just gorgeous…I did a few gasps on the gowns, particularly the first one! These are very RC-ready–can’t wait to see them again.
i can see keira knightley in almost every single one of these dresses
Helen Mirren is going to rock a lot of these. F’realz.
Some pretty obvious McQueen knockoffs here….. The dresses are pretty though.
That ombre gown is a STUNNA.
Blimey, EVERYthing please.
i haven’t done this many gay gasps over a collection in a loooong time!
A lot of this seems overdone to my taste, but that malachite green swirl strapless gown in the penultimate row is KILLA.
That first one makes me think of the body makeup Morgaine wore in the Beltaine scenes in The Mists of Avalon. It would probably work better if that diamond-shaped beaded section weren’t right below crotch level. That said, I LOVE the emerald dresses and the purple one on the bottom row.
I love this collection…beautiful colors & prints. I hope to see these show up on the red carpet!
To die for – all of it!
Too fussy and overworked
Love it all, especially the row of whites(1st) and the gold fabric row. And kudos to ML for going a different route with the Art Deco look.
I’m not sure how much of this can be worn by real humans, or translate to ready-to-wear, but DAMN it’s lovely to look at.
Can somebody please get me something for my migraine?
Love it. Lots of wow factor here.
I think ‘Alexander McQueen’ when I see some of these dresses, which is a good thing.
Ohhhh my goodness….so opulent.
Very Emerald City, I like.
Some of that really reminds me of Alexander McQueen of yester-years.
