    • Sobaika

She looks a bit… rumpled. Usually Marion in Dior Haute Couture would deliver more impact.

      • A. W.

Yes, definitely not the best she’s looked. I’m getting “quickie in the limo” vibes.

        • Diego!

           hahahahaha great comment! xD

      • Carly Warnock

Yes the hair on the one side is all bushy. Very odd for her. Such a beauty though.

    • Indigo54

Oh I love this one. A little worried that it’s not fitted properly at the very top.  Otherwise, amazing!

      • MoHub

Definitely riding low. I fear a wardrobe malfunction.

        • mellbell

The low-sitting strapless gown seems to be a thing with the ladystars lately. It boggles the mind.

          • margaret meyers

We saw a lot of them the other night.

          • Beverly Kozma

And I hate them.  The gowns, not the ladystars.

        • fursa_saida

Yup, which explains why she’s standing like that. Looking at the model shows how much posture can do for this gown, but I’m betting that Marion couldn’t help it for fear of ending up with bigger problems.

      • 3boysful

It looks a little short-waisted, right?  And then you think of how petite Mlle Marion is, and wonder–who would it fit?!  Maybe Ms Chenowith.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_KAFYDPCVNCKHWI57YPQRXEJADE Maria

It might look better if the length was a little shorter.

      • Mistie Holler

I can’t look at it. Just want to reach into the screen and yank it up a bit. Overall, though, magnifique.

    • StellaZafella

Love me some Marion and Dior…but my cranky self looks at the color and asks…nice slip, but where’s the dress?

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Not really working for me on her, either. That fit is really wonky on her. Shame, cause its a beautiful dress.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

Ditto on the fit and color, also I HATE those shoes with this outfit.

          • Vlasta Bubinka

Snaps. Those shoes with that dress are an affront to all that is pure and beautiful in the world.

I’m in a hyperbole phase right now.

    • Lisa Dugan

Oh, that’s so sad looking.  It sits way too low on her and she looks a bit disheveled.  Not her best unfortunately.

    • Sadie-Ann

This dress should have been perfect on her, but it’s awful. It looks too large on her, and it’s sitting way too low. One breath too far in and it’ll just slide off. And the hair and makeup are really messy, like she’s been wearing it for a day already.

      • schadenfreudelicious

should have read all the comments first, just said the same thing!

        • Sadie-Ann

Great minds think alike! It makes me nervous to look at it!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ginny-Ellsworth/534496198 Ginny Ellsworth

The top is gorgeous but really is too big but what’s going on with the skirt?

      • sarahmichelef

stuck to the awful studded shoes?

        • Sadie-Ann

That shoe is way too heavy for this outfit. This was not the time to add a little bit of edge to a girly dress.

    • Annabelle Archer

Is it me, or does the hair say, “I’m not making any effort here.”  I am underwhelmed, which is sad for such a cute dress on a fab lady star.

      • Ms. Schmidt

The hair is definitely bringing the look down.

    • LeSourire

I wish it was just a bit shorter or longer. Either one would work fine. Between the length and fit of the bust, I think what could have been a gorgeous, striking dress is actually fairly awkward looking.

    • Nicholas

The boob fit is pretty bad on this one.

(I have no idea what the technical term is.)

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

Saggy in the chesticles? Droopinated bosomry? Poorly buttressed bustment?

        • Nicholas

They sound like Britishisms, albeit entirely appropriate ones at that. Pip, pip.

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

Not a bit of Brit in me, but a fair amount of adoration for the language, and manipulation thereof. Scots, now, I’ve got. And I believe the technical term, for the record, would be something like “a poorly tailored bodice.”

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Don’t like the hair but I really like the dress — so Gigi.  :) Actually, looking more closely – it does look much better on the model.

    • kmk05

Ooooooooh, frizzy hair! The dress is too big and too long…and yet, she still wears it well. Definitely an OUT, but more because it is sloppy, not because it is a bad choice.

      Does this even make sense?

      • VioletFem

This isn’t a voting post, but I totally agree with you. Fitted more properly and styled  with a more sleek up-do, and this look could be an IN.

      • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I agree too. If this were an IN/OUT post, I’d have to give it an out because we know she can do better than this. And really, all she needs are some fairly minor fit adjustments (bust and hem), and different shoes.

    • http://younghovaswitnesses.tumblr.com/ Caitlin Murphy

Beautiful dress, but I REALLY want her to pull it up. It looks like she’s wearing last night’s makeup.

    • katje9

Oh, my emotions – they are mixed.  The dress is gorgeous – as is she. But it’s sitting a skosh too low and flattening the girls.  Her hair … well. I’m not sure why it is that, say, Myrna Loy could pull this off but Marion can’t – but it does seem to be the case.

    • http://www.facebook.com/JennaM.Olson Jenna Olson

If this dress fit, and she was wearing different shoes, I could support this.  But alas… she is not.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=149100065 Virginia McMurdo

Too bad…she usually schools everyone. She is a beauty but sadly..this makes me think of those terrible Spirit store costumes like “sexy can-can girl.” She just needs feathers poking out of the odd updo. I blame the fit and tired-looking makeup.

    • Ceur

The hair & makeup is so bad that I don’t even notice the fit of the bust. Oh wait, I did. Still bad.

    • schadenfreudelicious

it is impossble to fit the bodice’s on these dresses, she looks one large breath away from the whole thing sliding down…

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Sooooo true. To fit this to her properly would require complete disassembly.

        • schadenfreudelicious

you are of course correct :), such a shame to see such a glorious dress so ill-fitted to it’s muse…

    • elemspbee

this is sitting a bit low, and hence the bad posture. She’s holding it up with her shoulders. lovely dress but she’s clearly overwhelmed. what a shame. and speaking of shame, the hair, oh the hair. THis is OUT.

      oh we’re not voting.

    • kimmeister

Eek, you could really do some damage with those shoes.

The length of the dress is stumpifying.  If would have been better hoisted up a bit, but in general I think she’s just too short for it.

    • alyce1213

It’s too low, too long, it doesn’t fit, and I hate her hair.  Her studded shoes couldn’t be wronger.
How can this gorgeous Dior look so bad?

    • moja31

Gorgeous as always (even if it is kind of falling off of her), she was sorely missed at the Oscars.

    • Sara__B

This misses the mark. The dress is drooping (perhaps not fitted properly) and her hair is odd. I’m disappointed.

    • ojosazules

I much prefer the runway length, and it’s hanging way too low on her. Too bad, because it’s a lovely dress and could look so good on her. Her hair weird, too.

    • fungstyle

My first thought upon viewing this: well, I guess you can’t win ‘em all. There’s something reassuring about knowing that even Marion can have an off day.

    • http://twitter.com/lisledanielle Danielle Lisle

I just want to go yank it up by the top of the bodice. It’s making her look so saggy. Not a fan of the hair either.

    • mhleta

Dress, that is not your girl. But damn, you are a fine dress!

    • fnarf

She’s beautiful, and the dress is too, but why so low? All these ladies look like their dresses weigh a hundred pounds and are pinned to their nips. It looks unflattering and uncomfortable.

    • Christy Cricow

      Love the dress….hate the hair…..

    • tallgirl1204

I like the twirliness of this.  I would be spinning all night.

    • f_yeah_marie

Beautiful gown but it’s slipping off her…and what happened to her hair?

      • VioletFem

I’m going to assume this was the end of the night, after she was cutting it up on the dance floor.

    • MilaXX

Fit looks off and hair is a mess. Where are her handlers? Someone should have fixed that before pictures.

    • lehen

      nope.

    • nancylee61

The dress is lovely – I have loved it since I first saw it. What is the deal with the sausage hair? Horrid!!!!

    • SewingSiren

      Delicious. Like licorice candy.

    • SewingSiren

    • http://www.facebook.com/NadiyaOsmani Pudgy Possum

How did this go so wrong? In fact, why do most actresses get Dior so wrong?

    • withbreaththatisbaited

I thought this was gorgeous in the FB thumbnail, but when I saw the whole thing, there’s so much that turns me off. I hate that length on any dress and I thought the waist was more fitted than it really is. Bummer.

    • E. D.

Ugh.  Looks too long, although that could be the angle.

      The hair is a mess.

    • carolclark12

I LOVE this dress, but not on her.  I HATE that hair on anyone.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

The length of this dress killed the overall effect. Designers:this length will never work. Leave it be. NOW.

    • http://twitter.com/carelessriver Caterina Maria

Her feet are pointing at an odd angle that makes me want to twist her body back into place.

    • BayTampaBay

I like.  I think she looks great but I Iike the length of the dress on the runway model better.  It gives the dress more interest.

    • Tatiana Luján

Great dress that is falling off her body.
I wonder if a belt could have secured it where it was supposed to be.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000905542323 Rhonda Shore

She just has that quintessential it!!!  Would have preferred tea length for the dress though (with different shoes), but j’adore tea length, in general!!!

    • insertclevername_ici

why can stars not invest in the appropriate foundation garments so that their dresses stay on their bodies where they should be? This constantly boggles my mind. It can make or break a dress.

      Also, hair is… interesting.

    • Judy_J

Pretty dress, but it’s sitting way too low on the bust.

    • RescueMe23

I liked her Globe gown much better…but this is pretty.

    • MzzPants

      Yikes.  Frizz.

    • warnerave

      not liking it…

    • http://www.facebook.com/CameronETurner Cameron Turner

Pull the dress up and own it like you do all the other Diors…… I feel like she is just not as confident in this one….

    • librarygrrl64

It is sitting WAY too low on her. Other than that, I think this is a good look for her.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

It’s pretty, but it’s a little “Marion steps the Red Carpet in Dior” expected.

    • Zippypie

Oh, tragedy to see such a beautiful woman look like she got her dress at a castoff sale.  Boggles my mind.  The dress is an awkward length – looks like it wasn’t altered at all for her height –  and it’s halfway down her chest.  This looks like a last minute borrow without a proper fitting.  She ends up looking like a little girl playing dress up in her mom’s gown.

Whoever suggested that hair should go in front of a firing squad.

    • DominoEstella

      WTF.  Her hair looks stupid.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I love this, except for her hair, which looks just plain bizarre.

    • golden_valley

Do designers have a corner on the body tape market?  They create bodices so low that only body tape can keep what little modesty is offered by those dresses.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I want to love it. Her hair and makeup look good. The dress is gorgeous, but it looks like it’s about to slide right off of her. And the length is weird on her. Finally, I think I hate the shoes, but I can’t really tell what they look like from these photos.

If this were an IN/OUT post, I’d have to give her an OUT because we know that Mademoiselle Cotillard can do so much better than this.

    • Imasewsure

Hate the hair and the fit which seems very loose and low but I love love love this dress.  Shoes look adorable too

    • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

Miss lady, what is going on with that hair? The dress is nice, but nothing to write home about.

    • MaryanneGirl

Huh…the dimensions are making her look stocky or stumpy to me. I’m really nervous that her nipples are going to see the light of day soon… Also, I just can’t get with that hair.

    • Trisha26

I love a B&W combo, but this looks like it’s sitting too low by about 3 inches. I love the sort of “tea-length” on the model. Hate the shoes.

    • lrober03

The sagging of the dress at the top is ruining the effect of the dress on the bottom.  On the model, the dress is nice and floaty, on Marion, it just looks the wrong length

    • EEKstl

It’s a gorgeous dress and Gawd Knows MC knows how to wear clothes, but this isn’t working.  It’s either ill-fitting or too low on her chest (or both), and I think the length the model is sporting is just more successful.  (Or maybe it’s riding so low it’s now floor-length vs. ankle length). Also: Hair = BAD!

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/37TPKASIMXVUPYK5BNQFOL43KU Carina

      Tragic. What a shame…

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

It doesn’t fit and the hair is bad. This could have been GREAT.

    • frannyprof

Those flyaways are making my eyes twitch.

    • TSkot

      unflattering

    • Qitkat

We missed you, Marion, and once again, you have chosen a beautiful dress unlike anyone else’s. But it sits a leetle bit low, and that fuzzy hair snafu, wtf?

    • annrr

I loved that dress when I saw it here. She doesn’t pull it off as well as the model and I like the model’s styling way better. Marion could have totally WERQed it, had it been altered properly, altho that bodice looks awkward on the model too. I just love the Dior shoes, I don’t like the ones she is wearing at all.Lastly her hair looks stupid.

    • http://twitter.com/jennsaysmeow Fifi LaRoux

I love that she wore this dress! I just want to tuck that hair over her ear back.

    • http://www.serpentsdance.etsy.com/ SerpentsDance

It needs to be yanked up a few inches, and she needs different shoes. I like the shoes (what I can see of them), but I don’t know that they really go with this dress.

    • peachy

funny length on her. funny shoes too. not ha-ha funny either.

    • decormaven

This dress must have arrived moments before she stepped out for the evening because if someone professionally fit this thing, it was an epic fail. I’m going with “no time to fit” because MC usually turns it out.

    • B_C_J

The hair is  aging. The dress is a breath away from sliding down to her waist. The varying lengths of the hems of the different layers is distracting to say the least. This is a rare fail for this woman who usually can wear Dior to perfection.

    • artgirl9

After reading the comments here I have to wonder what’s wrong with me because I love the dress and shoes.  She is the essence of Paris to me.

    • crash1212

I love a stripe, especially when deployed in a formal gown situation. This needs a sturdy “hoik” and better hair. I think I like the shoes, it’s just the hem isn’t hitting her at the right spot. Needs to be a bit shorter…which might’ve been attained with the proper hoik. Of course, this is why I hate strapless with the white hot heat of a thousand suns.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

What a gorgeous dress. How did this go wrong? It is just not working. And I fear for the hem of that dress…

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZLU6YVO4BRTELTTH3GRAAMWZQ Dot

Her hair looks like she fell asleep on it in the car on the way over.

    • Elizabeth Silverstein

When I saw the runway version of this I thought of her immediately. Sadly, I don’t think I love this.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

Something is wrong. I love the idea for the dress, but… even on the model… there’s just something not working for me.
      It might be the hair.

    • libraangel

       Marion always looks tres chic

    • nannypoo

I love this dress but her hair is really awful.

    • lobsterlen

This should be working better than it is. She looks uncomfortable. I think the top isn’t high enough and skirt should be shorter. More on one end less on other?

    • rtuko

I like the dress, but dresses cut that low always make me nervous that the girls are going to pop out if she bends over too far or breathes a little hard.

    • MissAmynae

I suspect that she lost a bit of weight when she was sick, (she basically had the same thing as Jennifer Lawrence) and either had to change dresses at the last minute, or didn’t have enough time to have it altered. She looks so tired, but like she’s trying to put on a brave face.

    • formerlyAnon

Gosh. I LOVE this dress. I wish the bodice was a bit higher, just an inch or so – but that seems to be the way they’re fitted these days?

Great dress & shoes.(I know that most everyone dislikes the shoes with this, I disagree) Like the watch, necklace is underwhelming – something onyx & diamonds, linear, less delicate?, face & hair rate meh-minus.

(edited several times as my thoughts evolved)

    • Bwin51

      I love this dress.

    • Nonmercisansfacon

Hair and shoes are no good,  dress sits too low. Go back and try again Marion!

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

I’ve never liked that hair style, she’s swimming in the dress, the shoes are clunky but what I really want to know is, the Cesar Awards are the day after the Academy Awards? That just seems like bad timing.

    • Beverly Kozma

The hair is bad.  Other than it being low in the bust, I love the dress.  So pretty, and different.

    • bd73

a rare miss. the pattern does nothing for her. and why does she always hunch her shoulders?

    • kikisayshi

Looks like she needs to hike it up a bit on top

    • guest2visits

The length and the fit are much better on the model – and it made all the difference.

    • Louise Bryan

I love everything about that dress.  The black and whiteness, the tea length; I just love it.

    • ms_kat

Hate the hair completely, but adore the dress.

    • http://remedialstitcher.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

It looks like gravity is pulling it down, down, down.

    • oohsparkley!

This hair is bad and the dress is falling down. A rare miss for Marion.

    • http://twitter.com/DuBey2 Marie Fessler

I would love it if it was half an inch higher on the bustline, and if she had more color on her lips.  Dress is gorg on the RW.

    • jetpackdino

Hate it.  Can’t even look at it.  So bad.  Someone please help her.

    • kathrineb

Dress is super cute but the fit is off and I am not on-board with the hair. This could have been so good.
