Juliane must have taken a wrong turn on her way back to the boudoir……

    • Sobaika

Spectacular dress, but not for Julianne. Ship it to Blanchett!

      • teensmom99

Actually needs to go to someone with darker coloring than the Cate.

      • SassieCassy

yaaaaasss she can werq icy queen like non other!

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Its a gorgeous dress. Amazing embellishment work.  She really needs a bit more color though. And even though the fit on the dress is intentionally loose, it doesn’t look quite right on her.

      • MilaXX

It passed loose and is just too big and too long. Definitely not her dress.

      • Sobaika

Loose isn’t going to look right with that kind of embellishment on her body – she’s got a crazy good figure, but with a pretty defined waist and mammaries.

      • lovelyivy

I do not understand the thought process with how this fits. This girl’s body is FANTASTIC and they’ve managed to shroud it in a shapeless blah that adds volume and is in an unflattering color to boot.

She almost never gets it right- I wonder if she is styling herself? It would explain a lot.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

In terms of the fit, all that need happen is for the side seams of the bodice to be taken in. But imagine this same dress if the dominant fabric color were navy. ROCKIN’!

          • lovelyivy

Yup. Too bad she’s determined to fight her own natural coloring and prettiness by picking things she (probably) just likes rather than things that would play to her strengths and flatter her.

      • formerlyAnon

What strikes me as sad is that when you see the close ups you can see how much detail work there is in the embellishments. And it’s intense! But from a distance it reads (to me) so tacky that one imagines a glue gun came into play.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Its a gown that needs an intimate setting like a formal dinner, where people are close to, and can see the extraordinary workmanship and detail. it just gets muddied in photography from a distance.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I’m bored with this whole “am I naked?” illusion thing. It’s not sexy.

      • formerlyAnon

Inexplicable, but it’s in the eye of the beholder. I have some male friends who love it. Love it very, very much. I don’t get it, which is why I figure the love is pretty much entirely gut level sex appeal.

      • Sobaika

I really like the look actually, it just needs to be done right. This (and 90% of the times it appears on the red carpet) aren’t instances of the trend being doing correctly. Kind of like the nude shoe craze.

    • Ms. Schmidt

That dress is not doing her any favors (nor is the hair).

      • cooperalden

She needs a young, like herself, hair and clothing stylist.  It’s like Marry Ann Mobley is giving her the Merle Norman treatment all the time.

        • Imasewsure

You are so funny… Mary Ann Mobley… now that is a reference… :)

          • bitchybitchybitchy

I actually remember Mary Ann Mobley doing her talent at Miss America. It was something to do with a little black dress, I think.

        • zenobar

Merle Norman!  Bless my mauve-contoured cheekbones!

    • http://aldonsusi.blogspot.com/ Susi R

      tacky tacky mess

    • colleenjanel

Her eyebrows are way too dark.
And I am SICK SICK SICK of the putty/nude lip trend. There are pretty shades of nude that don’t look like you skipped lipstick altogether.

      • colleenjanel

And frankly, I think I would forgive skipping lipstick before forgiving putty lips.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Why even spend money on nude lipstick?  Just wet your lips.

      • kimmeister

Her brows are pretty much all you can see from a distance.

    • Introspective

CMA hair. Freeskate bodice. boring color. the look ages her by 15 yrs as usual.

Julianne my dear, WHAT THE EFF IS UP WITH YOUR GAYS???

      • demidaemon

        She’s dating one. Hehehehe. (joking!)

    • http://twitter.com/lisledanielle Danielle Lisle

      I can’t with that hair.

      • http://www.djplaw.com/ Tadiana

With this ‘do she’s reminding me of Miley Cyrus. And not in a good way.

    • oatmealpie

      That is one complicated nightgown.

    • lehen

the back of that dress is straight up ice skater

    • formerlyAnon

I like her hair and makeup but that reads like a tacky nightgown.

    • IAmJ

      Blanche Devereaux dress and hair.

    • Little_Olive

I think the dress attempts an illusion of water and sea shore. It succeeds, she looks like she fell asleep in a fisherman’s wharf.

Frankly, it’s not even that it is complicated. It is plain (well, complicated) fulgy. Was this made by a 6 year old dreaming to be a tacky mermaid??

And WTF is up with her ass being barely covered by those “embellishments”.

      • http://aldonsusi.blogspot.com/ Susi R

“she fell asleep in a fisherman’s wharf”… LOL!!!  So true!

    • Judy_J

      That dress is strangely unflattering.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

It’s definitely not working for Ms. Hough. The hair and make-up, to me, make her look at least 5-10 years older than she is.
Julianne, honey, you need a stylist who will help you show off that great body.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

      Ice Princess Barbie

    • eowyn_of_rohan

Uh, Ms. Hough?  I think a moth ate the top half of your dress.

    • ChiliP

This manages to look both matronly and tacky on her. Not a good look.

She’s obviously a very pretty girl, but she somehow always appears older than she actually is. She’s 23, 24, correct (too lazy to google right now)? I can’t quite pinpoint the problem….I’m thinking a combination of hair and makeup.

      • 4JJ

I sincerely believed her to be in her 30s, and learned only recently that she’s around 24.

The dress is awful, but I think the  hair, eyebrows and makeup are even worse.  All of it’s a shame – as you said, a very pretty girl who needs a (better) stylist.

    • fringebenefit

If Julianne doesn’t have a stylist, she must get one. If she has one, she must switch. This girl should be putting the rest of her red carpet colleagues to shame, but she never quite pulls it off. Dress is always somebody else’s. Hair is always vaguely wrong. Accessories are undistinguished. I feel for her.

    • l_c_ann

One of the few dresses for which the illusion netting is really an illusion, but still there.

I like the embellishments, and that they aren’t sat on.  But I don’t understand the squared bottom of the back side, as if a too dark camisole just happens to be there under the dress.

    • mhleta

Boy, she is GORGEOUS but that, that, that “dress” is just awful! The material on the skirt looks like something you’d never want near your skin, and it looks incredibly cheap as well. The seam  down the back is bubbling and all the other crap–there’s just too goddamn much of it. I’ll fitting costume for some sort of “Under the Sea” ballroom number.

    • Annabelle Archer

Overly fussy, cheap looking, unflattering to her figure, in the color of dirty lingerie.  Way to dress your doll Seacrest.

    • ojosazules

The stuff on the dress seems like it was randomly plastered on, and the skirt fabric is messed up and doesn’t match and is weirdly lined. The transition between the bodice and the skirt hits at an awkward place on her bum, and the seam and the gathered stuff are going off at different angles.

      • out for a walk

Agreed on all counts. I’m all for excessive embellishment but this is absolutely terribly deployed… neither flattering to the body nor interesting on its own. The more I look the more I hate it. It looks like a 5-year old took their great aunt’s negligee and some $600/yard lace and played pin the tail on the donkey with it.

    • http://twitter.com/Wolf_six Michelle O’Brien

      Looks like lingerie…

    • GwenDiamonds

WHY does this woman insist on dressing twenty years older?  Lawsy!  She’s got a rockin’ bod and yet insists on wearing these “matronly” let’s-hide-our-shape things.  I don’t know what this dress is trying to be, either.  Don’t like the dove-gray satin underneath the bottom part of it – it needs a different color underneath or something.  I dot like Julianne’s hair from the back/side, but not so much from the front.  I am just WAITING for this chica to come out on the carpet with a fabulous dress, and tain’t happened yet~

    • LCTerrill

      Of course.

    • warnerave

dress is probably good on a mannequin but not her..oh maybe Stacy Keibler can give that dress justice..

    • MilaXX

Dress is too big and her brows are too dark.

    • shelley514

Looks like a circa 1973 nightgown.  And that color does not do her any favors.  I like the ring though!

    • marilyn

This costume/negligee is designed so she has no shape.  It makes her look lumpy.  The runway model too.  It needs a little shape to it so it is atractive on her.

    • mmc2315

Hair and make-up = gorgeous.  Dress = not gorgeous.

    • jw_ny

Her hair and makeup are lovely.  The dress may be a bit too DWTS costumey, but I rather like the overall effect….which is odd because I usually dislike everything she chooses.

    • SugarSnap108

Cut the skirt to a mini, and she’s ready to perform a triple axel.

    • GorgeousThings

You can take the girl out of the ballroom, but you’ll have to pry the ballroom dress from her cold, dead fingers.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

The execution on the gown is stunning, although it’s a little to close for lingerie territory for my taste.  I am digging the Betty Grable-ish hairdo.  I’m so glad this is not being worn by another starlet who covers all the amazing embellishments with cocker spaniel hair.

    • http://profiles.google.com/anplica Anplica Fiore

      Nice glittery nightgown.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/XAFAJ53QF3DLEFQB3WTLMRM75E MarinaB

Orange grandma, wearing a dress made out of water.

    • http://twitter.com/neuaehs Sheauen Chung

doesn’t fit. looks like a nightgown from the great gatsby.

    • f_yeah_marie

It kind of looks like seaweed from a distance

    • decormaven

BACK OFF THE EYEBROW PENCIL. Please forgive the all caps, but the MUA applied it so strongly, I figured I needed equal emphasis to make my point. This dress is too loose on her as well. She could be a winner, but her style team always places her in the also-rans.

    • Claudia Fernandes

sitting in a rock, ad it was the perfect little mermaid costume…mardi gras is coming!!!

    • belfebe

Loungerie.  And it’s making her look like she has no waist.  Pity, because she’s a gorgeous girl.  She really, *really* need some gays.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1013443339 Hannah Prutton

      Killer face.

    • imspinningaround

I’m finding this dress very hard to look at:  The embellishments look like polyps, or the cover of that Toro y Moi record or something.

Her hair and makeup and clutch are pretty, though.  She’s got that going for her.

      • zenobar

The cover of that album gives me a weird feeling in my stomach.  And everywhere else.

And not the good kind of weird.

        • imspinningaround

Toro y Moi might be the greatest band since The Rolling Stones, but I have no idea what they sound like because that album cover gives me the heebie jeebies.

    • Pennymac

Wow. I’m a sparkle whore and I DESPISE this.

    • kolokOlchik

Love her makeup, don’t love the dress

    • luciaphile

Everything is hitting her oddly and it’s way too close to a negligee for my personal taste.

    • OrigamiRose

I’m distracted by her unbelievable resemblance to Meg Ryan in her “As The World Turns” days.

    • E. D.

Her brows are too dark and the back of her hair isn’t great, but no major complaints.

    • unbornfawn

The fit on this dress is abysmal. Wedding night lingerie.

    • Hetha Innis

    • Janet B

Love the little clutch. Her hair and makeup are nice.
Someone please find this girl a new stylist.

    • Imasewsure

Yuck Saran Wrap Boudoir Couture… ship it back to Claudette Colbert (might be pretty in black and white)… her make up is pretty at least… so so on the hair

    • procrastinatrice

Oooof. That is the worst dress ever. The back is making me cringe so bad. Just too low for her own good. And mine.

    • http://julia-here.livejournal.com/ Julia

      Scratchy nightgown.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

If an ice-dancing costume and a nightgown had a love child…

    • Lilak

For a gown whose colors are so light and sparkly, this is such a heavy, droopy load of graaaavity.

Only salvageable as preliminary inspiration for a figure skating costume.

    • zenobar

What with that makeup and hair, she is serving up some Vera-Ellen Realness on a doily-covered platter.

    • kschwarting

That is one seriously bedazzled nightgown.  It does nothing for her fabulous figure, and the hair ages her.

In other words:  same old, same old.

    • Carly Warnock

Why is her hair always looking so bad? Also, what’s up with your eye brows girl?

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

      The fit is horrible.

    • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

i need no accessories with impact, for i have eyebrows.

    • VicksieDo

She’s so gorgeous!  Ryan Seacrest, really????? But he’s never with her…
The dress comes off as nightgown though, but I bet it flowed well as she walked.

    • jmorino08

What a tacky, ugly, unflattering dress! Blech!

    • MoHub

      No. More. Translucent. Skirts.

    • Valerie Jones

She has run out of the house in her trousseau. This girl needs to look old-school Hollywood – why, why does no one help her? Is she fleeing a jealous queen?;0

      • TRSTL

        Yes.  Her boyfriend…..

    • http://twitter.com/JackieDiOrio Jacqueline DiOrio

      God that dress is ugly.

    • Vlasta Bubinka

I do NOT get her appeal. Screw it, here’s a haiku…
      you bore so hard
      bedazzled nightgown weary
      cannot even try

    • hellkell

      Crystal Barbie’s nightgown. Blech.

    • http://www.facebook.com/CameronETurner Cameron Turner

    • demidaemon

That’s a WTF dress with WTF styling. WTF!

    • BrooklynBomber

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s a really ugly early 20th century nightie.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

Love the top 1/2 of this dress and her hair and make-up.
Th bottom half is just “Eh.”

      • kmiller1k

In the close up photo her lips look dry and chapped

    • MarissaLG

Much too dressy for a movie premier. (only Annie H get’s to go full-on for the London Les Miz premier or something of that nature) Not “Safe Haven”  sponsored by shutterfly in LA.

    • Maluca

She always ends up looking like a Dancing with the Stars contestant. She needs a better stylist.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

Spangled negligee or x-rated ice dancing?

    • Zippypie

      Baggy saggy bedazzled nightgown.

    • http://www.facebook.com/darva.sutra Darva Sutra

NO.  Honey, fire your gay husband for letting you wear this.  On the upside, her hair and makeup are passable at least.

    • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

Gorgeous dress, but this is really, really not her dress.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

Too close to a skating costume but hair & makeup have her looking gorgeous rather than too old.

    • Laura Crow

She’s melting! Oh, what a world!

    • Trisha26

Way too much dress for her (or anyone) and it’s completely shapeless. The back is way too revealing and tacky the lower you go.

    • Jessica O’Connell

Geez why is she SO bad at this?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1266410766 Phyllis Craine

Oh the ripply seam on the back pains me…another quality problem  at the factory and nothing to do with Julieanne. Can no one sew anymore?

    • oldbobbydraper

is she sigmund the sea monster’s girlfriend?

    • ThaliaMenninger

So she’s purposely picking stuff that looks hiddy on her, right?

    • PrunellaV

      Prettiest barnacles I’ve ever seen.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

      UGH, no.

    • Markatha

Don’t like it.  I liked her much better when she was a fabulous dancer, who could dance.
Not so much now that she’s an actress, who can’t act.
Here’s a news flash…being pretty (male or female) doesn’t make one an actor.
So tiring & sickening (& not the good kind).

    • AmeliaEve

      Mermaid lingerie.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603005248 Jeff Warhurst

She’s too short and wide for that kind of slinky dress.  She looks mannish in it.

    • amaranth16

Eyebrows and eyelashes give her the crazy eyes.

Such a shame, because that dress could have been gorgeous.  But the fitting is awful – the drop waist makes her legs look mini and her waist look nonexistent. And, Julianne, we can see your butt.  I will be so glad when this fad blows over.

    • fursa_saida

JFC this hurts. Besides the ridiculously tacky dress, her EYEBROWS my GOD. I love a defined brow, but those are way too intense. If I’m looking at your face and all I can focus on is your eyebrows, something has gone wrong. Also, what is her obsession with this aging hair?

      • libraangel

RE HAIR: she is trying to look like Miley and Pink.

        • fursa_saida

          Lulz, it’s not working.

    • libraangel

I don’t know about the lacey thing between her breasts and why use curtains for the skirt? And why does she look fat and thick in this dress?

    • librarygrrl64

Oh, wow, no, no, NO! Not her dress AT ALL!

    • ccm800

Proof that Seacrest is really NOT gay is that she leaves the house looking like this. I do not understand how such a pretty girl can get sent out looking wrong every single time.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

It bothers me that she’s younger than me, and I’m not even in my 30s yet!

    • Alyssa

Gorgeous dress, not her color. My goodness she does not dress her age…

    • http://www.facebook.com/AdriannaGrezak Adrianna Grężak

I think the hair color & make up is quite stunning. She looks significantly better with the hair styled away from her face too

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marsha gentry

      Her eyebrows are too dark.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marsha gentry

I like her hair. The dress is pretty; it does nothing for her shape. Her eyebrows are way too dark.
