Ditto. His eyes get me every time.
I know this is nothing spectacular but man oh man do I love me some JGL! Seems he’d charm my pants right off.
Best comment ever. So true.
THIS is how a man should look when coming to the Oscars. Beautifully tailored, clean shaven (unless there is a role requiring facial hair) hair DONE..Take note Chris Pine with your nasty fugly neckbeard..Take note
IMO it doesn’t take THAT long to grow back beards. PLAN your filming for the Oscars dudes!
I don’t think it quite works that way.
so cute. and so polished. have no critiques here.
cant wait for his turn as nightwing.
Do we know that’s happening, or is it just wishful thinking? Either way, man, I’m with THAT.
Didn’t I see a picture of Sally Fields tying his bow tie. What a cutie!
Yes you did…and if you follow him on FB or Twitter, you saw him in the limo on the way to to the show, holding up the tie and speculating as to whether he might be able to find someone who knew how to tie one. Adorable. Apparently it was Sally to the rescue.
I did not think that I could love Sally any more and then I find this out.
Agh! Did anyone see when Seacrest introduced him to Dustin Hoffman? He was so adorable about it.
Love love love JGL.
I saw that, and loved it! I especially liked that once Ryan Seacrest introduced the two of them, Dustin Hoffman introduced JGL to his wife. It was a really nice moment.
Is it linen? Seems to have that sort of a sheen and a bit of a slub to it. Wish he was wearing a cummerbund so you couldn’t see that bit of shirt over his waistband. But he looks lovely and now he just needs the rest of his band members to turn up.
Looks like a slubby raw silk to me.
That seems more plausible.
I am pleased with your use of the word ‘slub’.
I’m getting a part-linen vibe from it as well.
I totes agree with the points you make. What’s surprising me is how forgiving I feel. Couldn’t have anything to do with what a little cutie he is.
What’s the red dot for? Is he 40% off this week or something?
I was told it has something to do with his business or charity? In either case, I’m with you. It always looks like a discount sticker!
Yes, hitRECord is the name. Can’t link to it, since the comment will get flagged for moderation.
Ah, isn’t that the company he founded with his late brother? He spoke quite movingly about the project in his Nerdist interview.
I’d bid on renting him cheap for the weekend!
He’s involved in a collaborative art organization, he may have founded it but I’m not sure. It’s called hitRECord.
It stand for “hitRecord”, it’s a artist digital media co. (or something like that) he works with.
Probably a red for hitRECord, JGL’s “open collabrative” (sic) production company. I love the boy, but the Academy Awards (and basically every other red carpet I’ve seen him on of late) is not the place to be publicizing your non-profit.
Why not? Almost every fashion house is promoting their dresses and suits, so why wouldn’t JGL promote his non-profit production company? Besides, I don’t think it detracts from the look, so it’s pretty much harmless.
Is it a non-profit? Their whole schtick is to be a platform for the crowdsourcing of product to be monetized. Each contributing artist gets a share of any profit made from a product their “RECord” is in. I still think it’s fine, if a little idiomatic a la HBC.
Older brother’s Confirmation suit.
I know! everybody is loving on him (and I DO love this guy – have loved him since he was a kid on Third Rock, or the youngster in “A River Runs Through It”), but he looks like he went shopping in the boys’ department. For someone who looks pretty young anyway, that is not the way to go.
He does look young! At the same time, I can see exactly how he’ll look as an old man. (still cute)
I don’t know much about the ins and outs of menswear (insert dirty joke here), but he looks great. Dapper, suave. Yum.
That Sally Field tied his bow tie while they were on their way there is pretty charming, but it also demonstrates the vast difference between what is required for men and women on the red carpet. Can you imagine any of the women leaving it up to fate whether or not a crucial piece of their outfit was put on correctly?
They’d be undoubtedly crucified.
You mean like Anne “Darts” Hathaway?
Unfortunately, this outfit does not highlight a key body part as does Miss Hathaway’s. (full disclosure: I have an age-inappropriate crush on JGL.)
Me too. I was married and in grad school when he was doing 3rd Rock from the Sun. He’s gorgeous.*sigh*
Quite a bit sexier than cute-as-a-button.
he is so damn cute. would love to take him home & raise him
Ugh why so hot.
Dear JGL, please tell Mr. B. Cooper how much brill creme is appropriate for a man’s hair. He looks like an oil slick and you do not.
He also looks as if he overdid the makeup a trifle
Probably because he was scheduled to perform (dancing/singing); the timetable for the show may have required him to show up with his stage makeup in place. Dan Radcliffe had a similar thing going on and they were all in the same opening number.
brill creme! LOL
I miss the Brill Building…
Yes. I call all male hair stuff “product” because the only brand name I can ever remember is brill creme. ETA: Oh, wait! There’s also Vitalis! (comments which flag one as old.)
Oh man, cute dudes in weird suits make me so sad. I’m not going to get into the jacket sleeves. but I will go on about the trouser action: too long. What is up with men and the too long trous?
Hot, but he always looks like he’s locking his knees when he’s posing…
too bad guys can’t wear a bit of lipstick…he needs a pop of color somewhere other than his ankles, maybe a bit of guyliner…
Why doesn’t the jacket match the trousers?
I was wondering the same thing. On my phone, it looks like the jacket is slightly navy and the pants are black. Maybe they’re different materials?
It looks to me that the jacket is navy with a thin black trim and the pants are black. Subtle but nice twist on a tux.
Subtle to you, but to me it looks like a mismatch- like he didn’t have a good light in his closet. If he wants to go for contrast he should go further.
Me at My Bar Mitzvah.
Looks adorbs, but the stance with 2 feet heading in 2 wildly different directions is weirding me out.
The boxy cut is not flattering on anyone, let along a man who is in the prime of his life and slender. The closed quarters and short length of his jacket are not doing him favors and to my eye he could use some more waist suppression to give him a slimmer look. All in all it’s a good idea with the more contemporary satin piped tuxedo but unfortunately it was not terribly well executed.
Props to using an actual self tie bow tie and studs.
Great suit, good fit. Perfectly charming hair and face. He always manages to stand out from the rest of the guys by being so well-kempt. Very dapper. Debonair, even.
(Just wish he’d leave the hitRECord button at home on the bureau for once. We know, you’ve got a swell non-profit that enables creative types to work collaboratively across the globe, but tonight’s not your night, m’kay?)
Au contraire…first rule of marketing a nonprofit: seize the opportunity for free marketing! He knew people would wonder what it was and that other people—or reporters—would fill them in, and voila! Free word of mouth on a global scale. Where better to snag the attention of creatives than at an event celebrating creatives?
I couldn’t agree more, but I don’t think it’s the creative types at this function whose attention he’s trying to get. At least not those who need a collaborative to get their work out there.
And as someone mentioned upthread, it’s not as if free advertising and conspicuous consumption aren’t rampant at these awards shows, between the designer gowns and jewels and suits being loaned out, and the (often shameless) film industry promotion occurring.
So I’ve reconsidered a little, but there’s still some part of me (that sounds like my dearly departed Southern grandmother, Miss Betty) that can’t help but think it’s a touch tacky. It’s not as if he’s not going to be talking about it all night anyway, and he’s worn a similar pin to basically every other awards show for months now. Did he really need to go there on what ought to be the grandest night of the year for Hollywood folks?
Or maybe I’m holding him up to a higher standard since he always looks so cute and the pin is distracting. Who knows?
He is so adorable, and I know that if I ever saw him in person I would turn into a total fangirl, but I cannot get behind this jacket. It’s not fitted at all, and it makes him look hippy.
Considering how good he usually is about mixing it up on the red carpet, this is disappointingly standard.
Having said that, he’s so gosh-darn purty! Like his hair a lot, too.
He was a child actor so I can’t use any words like “hot” or “sexy” without feeling icky. But he and Sally Field were perfect as mother and son (although she — and I — are probably old enough to be his grandmas) both in the film, in the limo, and on the red carpet. And he is perfectly groomed.
On my computer, the jacket and pants look to be two different colors/fabrics. Not a fan of this outfit.
On mine as well. I think they in fact don’t match!
Honestly I think the jacket looks too small. And I don’t like the spread leg stance (which all the men seem to be doing).
Would you have ever thought that dorky kid would turn out like this? Me neither.
JGL…just what I needed! Looking fun & adorable as always.
What’s the button on his lapel for? To remind you that he’s cute as one?
It’s for his online production company, but your theory is the one I’m choosing to go with.
he’s going to be 80 years old and just as cute.
The boyish ones either stay that way or lose it completely. I think he’ll stay that way+more wrinkles and less hair.
It’s the hair, the hair is getting on my nerves.
Everything else is fab, but I just cannot anymore with the hair. Is there a male version of twee?
He is totally twee. Ever see the short silent film he did for his site, HitRECord.org? Will make your teeth ache.
My impression of this outfit and look: PeeWee Herman.
And I miss third rock from the sun.
That bow tie seems awfully wide–but he’s still adorable. I really felt for him when Dustin Hoffman blew him off on the red carpet.
The photos make the fabric look odd. Like pseudo-denim. AM I IMAGINING THINGS?
If you’re imagining things, so am I. The jacket and pants look like two different fabrics. Very strange.
Group hallucinations? That’s cool with me.
Presh, but I’m still upset that we didn’t get the JGL/DanRad/Channing Tatum strip show I was promised.
Do the men wear makeup at all?
Pee Wee Herman.
PERFECTION. Love the tux, and it fits BEAUTIFULLY. And might I add… he’s well-groomed! Bravo, JGL.
Great Cary Grant impersonation.
The jacket and the pants do not match, and not in a good way.
I’ll just keep looking at his adorable punim.
The mismatch of the slacks and jacket bothers me, but aside from that, he looks adorable.
He’s very cute–VERY!–and yet I find myself distracted by all the mugging he’s been doing with his eyebrows lately. COOL IT WITH THE EYBROWS, JGL! Other than that, carry on.
The mugging is just too much for me. I can’t with it anymore. He’s turning into a silent film star.
He and Daniel Radcliffe can duke it out for the most adorable award. I’m not a huge fan of the tux itself – like other kittens mentioned, it looks like two different fabrications for jacket and trousers, which is a bit weird, but it looked good on television, so it might be the light in these photos. But the fit is great and he has NO NECKBEARD! YAY!
Nice. Not spectacular, but very, very nice.
He is manly adorable. Like a cute little kid but with rugged good looks…how does that work?
Goddddd DAMMIT if I wouldn’t sell my left kidney to get me some of that.
OBSESSED! He is just so yummy.
His bow tie is too wide, the jacket doesn’t match the trousers, and as my mother would say “he’s standing like a farmer.”
It seemed to me that in the dance number he did with Daniel Radcliffe their tuxes were a little more muted than Seth MacFarlane’s. At least on my TV, they weren’t as “shiny.” I wonder if that accounts for the fabric, that is, how it looks like a linen & slubby silk blend?
…And Sally Field tied his bowtie for him. Which just adds the cherry on top, non?
All i see is upper blue and lower black. Oh, and the same expression… C’mon Jos, use that face!
I can’t decide if I want to adopt him or, I’m ashamed to say, molest him. What a doll!
He bears a striking resemblance to Heath Ledger. (moment of sad silence for his passing)
I never can decide whether I want to put his cute self in my pocket…or jump his bones. He was easily one of my very favorites of the night (which is saying something for me when Jackman and Crowe are in the room!).
Yes, more please.
I just wish he buttoned the second button.
Is that a denim tux?
He’s the modern Gene Kelly.
He is well dressed and well groomed. A bit bland, but well put out.
I adore his “school picture day” hair!
Love me some JGL, but is that jacket just a wee bit too small for him? Kinda looks it to me.
That bow-tie is freakishly long.
What’s the red dot? Doesn’t that represent 70% off at DSW or something? Whatevs. He looks great.
I love him. I love every movie he’s in. He’s making sci-fi movies awesome again. I want to marry him. Oh wait… I gotta go pick up my husband. Damn.
