Thank you TLo. This is PERFECT. It is hump day after all…

  • Introspective

i just got my whole life in these photos. he is so yummy its ridiculous. thanks tlo for making me wake the fuck up today finally.

  • tetisheri

    Yes, please.

  • Introspective

and on the second viewing, all the posing with his legs apart has made me melt.

    • Sobaika

SERIOUSLY. A little too naughty for a work day, because damn.

  • Danielle Lisle

You may have three thousand words, but Idris leaves me speechless.

  • filmcricket

God – or the deity of your choice – bless you both, TLo.

  • Silly Grrl

That just rendered me stupid. DAYUM.

  • Ben Smith

2 out of 3 pictures feature Idris Elba with his legs spread. Ain’t nothing wrong with that.

    • MrsMaxPower

The only thing wrong is that it wasn’t an 8 page spread. That man can work an inseam

      • Cindi Williams

        More like an 8-inch spread.

        ba dum dum

        • ecallaw1977

hahahahahahaha i see what you did there

  • poggi

He is great and looks good.  He and Fassbender were the two best things (or in my opinion the only good things) about Prometheus .

  • Valdri8

I have adored him since he played Hilton on AbFab. What a fucking hunk!

  • schadenfreudelicious

you have made my day gentlemen!

  • Mary Saucier

I dislike the cover shot, but the other two MORE than make up for it.

    • EditKitten

Totally agree on that cover. He looks douchey. The rest … sigh.

  • jmorino08

That last picture is a killer! Sigh…

    • HomeOfficeGirl

  • MaryanneGirl

I would do terrible…awful…UNSPEAKABLE things to that man. Mamalike. Rawr.

    • Introspective

wouldnt we all. by the way im back now for my 5th viewing of these photos. and its still just as good as the first time.

    • tetisheri

Some of them might actually be illegal in some states. He is just so dreamy.

      • Maryanne525

RIGHT?? Holy cow. Have you seen him in Mumford’s video? I die.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

He makes me glad, just glad to be alive! Thanks, TLo!

  • shirab

He needs to be cast as the next 007, stat.

    • ccinnc

I read somewhere that he doesn’t want to be typecast as The Black Bond. Too bad, he’d rock it.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

That is a shame.  I’d pay primo bucks to hear Idris say “Shaken, not stirred”….

        • formerlyAnon

           Oh lord, his voice.

        • Alloy Jane

You just made my day, which has been rough so far.  So Thank You 😀

      • Aniela Marie Perry

Major shame. I was really hoping that would happen.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

You just know that Idris would totally rock a designer tux as Bond, plus just absolutely kill in the action sequences….ah well, we can all create our own fantasy Idris Elba Bond movies in our minds.

          • schadenfreudelicious

i’d play his Bond girl anyday….

      • Vlasta Bubinka

The cover pic kinda says lead in Castro! The musical, or Black Tevye, in Fiddler from the Hood.

    • Pants_are_a_must

And if not Bond, then Batman.

I would love to see him as Batman.

    • Melanie Clark

It’s actually my dream to see him as the next Doctor… it’s far-fetched, but I really love him for it.

    • Rand Ortega

My vote would be for a “Blacula” remake.

  • Michelle Nguyen

Stringer Bell meets Rebel Without A Cause. How strangely fitting. :-)

    • makeityourself

These shots remind me of how much I miss The Wire.

  • Emily Dagger

He should be a controlled substance. Jesus.

  • Imasewsure

Kinda surprised but he’s not doing it for me here at all… I really like the striped t-shirt and the lining on the jacket though…

  • Le_Sigh

WOOF.  I want to sink my teeth into him – what a satisfying man meal he is.

  • UglyCasanova

This is how you do a “Guytorial”, here endeth the lesson.

  • Ramon

What a man, what a man, what a mighty fine man. Or to belabor the point: “What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how

a god! the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals.” Sorry, can’t help myself. if anybody needs me I’ll at the veranda on my fainting couch.

    • mmc2315

Thank you.  Sang the second quote like in “Hair”.  :-)

    • Indigo54

BACK OFF YOU!  I’m working here!

Now where were we?  Oh God, take me!  Please, take me now……

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I’ll be reclining on my fainting couch as well, having an attack of the vapuhs….

  • Erika Schultze

    THANK YOU!!! Oh, that MAN!!

  • d4divine

You guys are hilarious!! Thank you!!

  • jack mackenna

    (incoherent gibbering)

  • Chaiaiai

I would climb that man like a tree.

    • mmc2315

6′ 3″ worth of tree!  Zowsa!

  • Annabelle Archer

Oh my, yes. This will certainly do.

  • padma sallah

The cover does not do him justice at ALL. The inside shots however, GUH.

    • Tamara Hogan

I agree. I get a whiff of Village People from that cover.

  • sweet_potato

    Damn is right. Damn!

  • hughman

This reminds me, I need to watch “Querelle” again.

  • oatmealpie

Those pants fit him so well.

  • call_me_schmeg

if i saw him in real life, i would probably just take off my pants.

    • Rand Ortega

Involuntary Elba nakedness is not a crime. I looked it up.

  • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

The scroll wheel on my mouse is going to be broken by the end of the day. Can’t ever get enough of this man.

  • Carina

good lord. i need a fan.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

TLo’s post, and this magazine are creating a major shortage of fans across the universe!

  • TieDye64

THANK YOU! This made my morning. And probably my entire day. Lawd have mercy!

  • Lori Wade Miller

  • Maya

there is my pretty for the day!

  • Susan Crawford

Look upon The Mighty, ye boy-banders and douchies and Despair! For this is A Man.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

      Amen, sister!

  • prettybigkitty

    Day made.  THANK  YOU!!!  Now I need a moment. .. . .

  • miagain

    he’s so purdy!!

  • MinAgain

  • Rand Ortega

    Anybody got a cigarette?

  • Heather B.

    Good lord. Words fail me.

  • Indigo54

    DAYUM!  ….hot in here.

  • EEKstl

I love a man who can wear a good pair of jeans and an attitude.  And I mean WEAR!

  • Sara__B

I had to Google this hunk of masculinity to find out who he is, and discovered that his face is as handsome as the rest of him. Hard to tell that in these photos, since giving good face is clearly not the point of this photo shoot. Da-yum.

    • out for a walk

If you have Netflix you should watch Luther, stat. It is full of Idris-Elba-in-tweed-suits… not a bad thing at all.

  • Vanja

*fanning myself* That man is FINE!

  • Carla_Charlton

But don’t you all think the cover photo is laughably lame?

    • Imasewsure

He looks like a drunken dock worker… then he looks like a drunken dock worker who fell off his bike… not getting it here… dunno

    • formerlyAnon

Yes, but there are enough points between the three photos to average out to stunning.

And since I’ve seen many better photos of his face and can distantly recall his voice . . . um, there might be some grade curving going on . . .

      • Carla_Charlton

The third photo is by far the best — he doesn’t need any props.  I guess there’s a starvation effect here — we get so few photos of him that ANY seem good!

    • BrooklynBomber

I don’t know about laughably, but he’s not really “giving face,” as they say. It just looks like a snapshot.

      • Carla_Charlton

It’s the silly styling that I thought was laughable.

        • BrooklynBomber

It is kind of silly, now that you mention it.

        • Dot

I can only think Village People.

  • marlie

I think I need to go outside and get some air after this one.

  • crash1212

  • bitchybitchybitchy

It’s a bit blustery in these parts today, but after seeing Idris, I’m fanning myself! DAMN, indeed. Thanks, TLo!

  • Aidan B

Uggggh I love him so much. It’s unbearable. All of the bitter kittens should watch “Luther” on Netflix. Idris is a total badass in it. A dark, brooding, sexy badass…

  • ChiKat67

I was so hoping you’d feature this! Best gay uncles EVER!!!!!!!!

  • Shawn EH

    Three more:

    Kustom Kar Kommandos!

  • A.

Good lord if I had a man look at me like he does on the first pic every morning of my life I would never go hungry again…wait…what!?! He’s so fine!

  • formerlyAnon

There are humans whose attractions transcend “type.”  Bypass higher brain functions entirely, as a matter of fact.

  • littlemac8

OMG, I feel faint…(melts in a puddle on the floor)!

  • littlemac8

I saw the thumbnail and went weak in the knees!!!

  • Zippypie

Seriously hot – but what’s with the Gilligan hat in the cover photo?

    • Dot

The hat and overall ensemble is a little Village People in the first shot, but the other shots makes up for that, I think.

  • Pants_are_a_must

And thus goes the rest of my day.

    Thank you.

  • littlemac8

Bye Bye….I’m running into the next room to stream Luther!!!!

  • Alyssa

Ah, thank you! I needed this today! It’s cold and snowing (and I live in OK, where 2″ of snow is the equivalent to a 10-ft blizzard), and now I can imagine Mr. Elba keeping me warm! :)

  • IraKi

I am not sleeping yet I just had a wet dream!

  • margaret meyers

    Love that vanity plate!  margar3t

  • boweryboy

Oh my… up to this point I haven’t found him attractive, but god damn! Damn! Damn! Did I mention damn!?

  • greymain

    fanning self profusely.

  • carpediva

Thank you Uncle TLo! One of the most beautiful men in the world, and a tremendous actor to boot. Love that he’s getting his due.
Now come here, Idrissa. Let me shave you all sexy and seductive like.

  • jeeplibby02

Here’s the inspiration for the photo shoot:

  • mjude

have no clue who he is but WOW

    • LaSylphide

Check out season 1 of “Luther”. He’s one of the few men around who can make a business suit look like an invitation to a naughty weekend.

    • PaulaBerman

Or do yourself a huge favor and watch The Wire. Possibly the best TV show in history, at least for its first 4 seasons.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Yes, Yes, Yes.  The Wire remains at the top of my all time favorite series.  I had no idea that Idris Elba was a Brit-he nailed the American accent as Stringer Bell;as did Dominic West, as Detective McNulty.

        Omar’s coming….

        • PaulaBerman

Omar Devonne Little is my FAVORITE TV character of all time, right up there with Al Swearengen and Dana Scully. God, that show was extraordinary TV, and nary an Emmy to show for it. Idris Elba can do anything. I <3 him.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Have you read the book The Wire-Truth be Told? The author is Rafael Alvarez and the book covers the first three seasons of the series.  It was published in 2004-Mr. B3 gave it to me as a birthday present, as he knew of my deep and abiding obsession with that show.  Yep, never an Emmy…

          • PaulaBerman

Will totally check that out! I also need to rewatch the series, but not Season 5. To me it was a disappointing end to an epic experience.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

I haven’t watched the series in quite some time, and I feel a marathon is necessary.  On a personal note, I was born in Baltimore, grew in the burbs, but it’s my hometown, and I felt that, as tough as the subject matter was, the series captured something true about the city.  Warts and all, it’s still my hometown.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Find “The Wire”, STAT. Elba played one of the major drug dealers in the first three seasons and he was incredible.

  • MilaXX

  • elleg929

  • julnyes

    Yes, this will do nicely.

  • Dot

  • ScarlettHarlot

Oh my word…I’ll be in my bunk.

  • victoria rodeno

    Phew, that man  is hotness!!!!

  • Ash

This made my day. Thank you.

  • MoHub

    Thank you indeed!

  • Eclectic Mayhem

  • LittleKarnak

I called out sick today but I just started feeling a whole lot better……

  • Melanie Clark

    Two words: Next Doctor.

    (In my dreams.)

  • thecitysleeps

  • ankali

Sweet God. I hope I never meet this man in person, as I know I would make a blithering fool of myself at best and a criminal at worst.

  • anotherkate

“Ello guvna. I’m Idris Alba, and ‘ere’s my crotch.” I mean, I’ll take it, but men’s mags are just as obvious as women’s.

  • capybara_cafe

    Oh my *fans self*

  • korilian

    Bless you.

  • Donyelle

To quote Grady Wilson “Good goobily goop!”

  • pookiesmom

    Two words: HELL. YES.

  • amanda lynn

    yes, please.

  • jilly_d

  • AngelaGreen

Licking work monitor is not professional… I almost did anyway.

  • Alloy Jane

Aw hell yeah!  Thank you Uncles!!!

  • Andrea B

Very Tom of Finland… I approve!

  • Alloy Jane

No way, that’s pure hardcore punk in that cover.  I know he’s British and a skosh too young, but that’s some Banned in DC madness I see.

  • PaulaBerman

I am going to be slightly ungrateful in wishing that one of these shots had been shirtless…

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Come sit by me and we can be slightly ungrateful about the sad lack of a shirtless Idris together.

      • PaulaBerman

Girl, there are a notable dearth of such pix on the internet. I just looked, and the only really good one I could find that was not a still from a TV show was on mynewplaidpants on June 8, 2012. Check it out. Yowza.

  • Carly Warnock

    excellent posing. well done gq.

  • MzzPants

    Um….I…..uh…oo…..uh…..oh, never mind.

  • bd73

the cover made me burst out laughing. the hat, the stripes, the crotch, the pegged hem. it’s like a “police academy” bit. but the others make for a good evening.

    thank you..

  • snookums lynn

    thank you!!!
and his quote makes him seem like he might have a sexy mind to go with his other sexiness!!!! I’m the first ME toooo!!!!!

  • travelingcat

Damn. And now I have to go write a paper and soooo couldn’t care less. I’m fairly certain I could knock out 3 to 5 pages on why Idris Elba is achingly yummy in no time flat. Maybe that will be my warm up. The Hotness of Idris Elba and the Existential Search for Meaning…  *sigh*

  • Aurumgirl

    Yay Yay Yay!

  • tetisheri

I hadn’t yet. Oh my, is it warm in here or is it just me?

  • Glam Dixie

I don’t get it. Just no.

  • jmw1122

  • carolie_king

Uh…  Cough. Thanks.  Cough cough.  Ahem. Blink. Cough.

  • Lilak

Door number three, please, Monty … Let me pass through, close the door behind me, and all o’ y’all just walk away.

  • betorah

Man, oh Manischewitz. That’s so good, it should be illegal.

  • Alloy Jane

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!  That was beautiful…

  • Nonmercisansfacon

  • Melvis Velour

    Oh mah stars ‘n garters!

    Starts fanning himself…

  • Dagney

    Why yes, yes please.

  • Kristy Evans

Oh man. There is a Tanqueray billboard on my morning commute, and getting to see his sexy stare-down makes traffic worth it.

  • kathrineb

  • SVLynn

With all the millions of ways you could pose and dress him on the cover, this is what they chose? He is perfection, I hope Luther comes back for another season, love that show!

  • GTrain

For me it’s “Um No” for the cover but “Mercy!” for the other two shots.

  • kathrineb

Revisiting this one after many months. So handsome its ridiculous!
