Gotta love the Grammys red carpet. It’s an oasis of bad taste smack in the middle of awards season, when we’ve all gorged on tasteful Oscar-nominee gowns for weeks now.
Hit it, tacky stars!
Alicia Keys in Azzedine Alaia
We just don’t like anything here; not the shape of the skirt, the use of leather, or the strips of skin showing. It all looks kind of awkward and unflattering.
Ashanti in Tony Ward Couture
This is striking, but the proportions are off – don’t really need those shoulder treatments and the skirt’s a bit too full – and there’s too much peek-a-boo going on.
Beyonce in Osman
We think it’s kind of awesome that after her extremely attention-getting moment at the Super Bowl, Miss Bey decided to keep things toned down and simple for the night. Plus, we love the ladypants. Would’ve recommended showier earrings, though.
The dress is kinda Xena-fierce, but we can’t with that hair.
Carly Rae Jepsen in Roberto Cavalli
We imagine this looked very pretty in person, but it looked deadly dull on camera.
Carrie Underwood in Roberto Cavalli
This is gorgeous.
Chrissy Teigen in Joy Cioci
Estelle in Genelle Brooks x Love Collins
We have to give her credit. That’s one crazy print and she’s showing belly skin, but somehow, she’s pulling it off.
Faith Hill in J. Mendel
Pretty, but a bit serious for the occasion.
Florence Welch in Givenchy Couture
STUNNING. No, really. We couldn’t take our eyes off her. We don’t like that she matched the shoes and the purse exactly to the dress, but we LOVE that dress for being so odd and so head-turning. Not merely a perfect Grammys dress, but a perfect Grammys dress for Florence Welch specifically. It’s SO her.
Janne Monae in Moschino
It never changes, but at least she looks impeccable.
Jennifer Lopez in Anthony Vaccarello
When J Lo first walked up to Seacrest, we could only see the top half. “Wow. J Lo looks kind of toned-down toni–OH. MY. GOD.”
We enjoy the display of divatude (as well as the accessories), but this is just a strip of fabric arranged to show off bodyparts. And we hate the hair.
Kaley Cuoco in Amen
Trying too hard. Not bad, but not quite.
Kat Dennings in Vivienne Westwood
Kathy Griffin in Oscar de la Renta
This didn’t look like much onscreen, but it looks pretty spectacular in pictures.
Kelly Osbourne in Paule Ka
Miss Kelly can’t really handle the severe ponytail look. Doesn’t suit her. The dress is just okay.
Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra
Natasha Bedingfield in Emerson
We would like this so much more if it didn’t have those cutouts at the sides.
Nicole Kidman in Vera Wang
A bit dull. And we hate the sheer-over-mini thing.
Solange Knowles in Ralph & Russo Couture
Bow down, bitches. She looks AMAZING. Needs more dramatic makeup, though.
Taylor Swift in J. Mendel
Oh, look. Tay-Tay’s in a white dress. Again. At least this one is a little grown up and sexy, although we’re not loving the shape of the top half.
