Elizabeth Olsen in Christopher Kane

Posted on February 13, 2013

This is a cute look for her:

Elizabeth Olsen attends the 2013 ELLE Style Awards in London in Christopher Kane.

Christopher Kane Pre-Fall 2013 Collection/Model: Nora Lony

But we’ll be perfectly honest. We chose to feature this look for one reason only. If you really want to know what it’s like to attend New York Fashion Week, multiply this look by about ten thousand and you have a pretty good representation of what it looks like at the tents. She’s dressed in the uniform every editor, assistant, and style blogger girl has been sporting all week. She’d fit right the hell in. All she needs is a smartphone in one hand and a bottle of water in the other, with a bag hanging from her elbow nook. And an air of superiority coupled with a well-rehearsed ennui, of course.

Cute skirt, right?

  • I really love the brown hair on her.  And her make up is working well too.  It’s a standard enough outfit, but those are some clunky booties.

  • That’s exactly how I would imagine everyone dresses at fashion week! Well, the girls, anyway. Very nice. I might get sick of the middle part Beckinsale hair soon though.

  • Janet B

She’s glowing; I don’t know if it’s her hair color, the right makeup, or my uncaffeinated vision but she looks beautiful.

    • It’s the smile! It’s an Olsen, smiling a big gorgeous smile.

  • Cz

Really! I thought everyone wore crazy couture clothes with clashing prints and bare legs with sky-high stilletoes. Because that’s what all the “Street Style” blogs are showing. *roll eyes here* I’m going to start throwing flagrant foul flags down when someone refers to a nutty photog-grabbing outfit as street style.

The whole look works really well in a casual fashionista kind of way (and thus, wearable!). She was really cute in Liberal Arts, even if it was a barely okay movie.

    • Fashion Week is like a Gay Pride parade. The people in the nuttiest outfits are the ones most likely to get photographed.

  • LearnedFoot

She has such an interesting face, in terms of how she photographs. In some pics she looks just like Sophia Bush and in others she looks like herself. I guess that a lovely and expressive face is an important tool for a successful actor!

In other news, I covet her shiny, shiny hair.

  • haha, love the inside scope.
and yeah, its a very cute look.

  • jenno1013

Way cuter her way than on the model. The long skirt is deep into drapery territory, and that shapeless…what? sweatshirt? sweater? is terrible.  Her jacket is a much sharper top.

Also how is it that she is sooooo much more attractive than her sisters?  I think the smile helps a ton.

    •  She was lucky not to get the Gelfling face her sisters scored, but the smile and the appearance of being at ease help a lot.

    • Targettaste

Well a smile or ANY expression would help the vapid look of her sisters.  And perhaps the wardrobe of a ragged 70 year old bag lady affects their look.  Yes, I know those rags are expensive.

    • Alyssa

I like the jacket she’s wearing a lot. The smile definitely helps, looking like she wants to be there, not having stringy hair that looks like it needs washed, and wearing clothes that fit all help as well!

  • SugarSnap108

Ah, superiority/ennui — my least favorite styling choice after the platform-toe pump.

She looks very cute here, and is offering a perfect example of when opaque tights work — with a casual, kicky outfit.

  • It’s a classic look.  And the shorter length is so much better than the dowdy-looking long version the model sported…

  • In_Stitches

She often has trouble defining her shape.  Well, trouble…or she just doesn’t want to.  She wears a lot of blouse-y tops and dresses or, if they have any sense of form, she covered them with an oversized boxy jacket.  It’s nice for once to see her in something remotely hourglass-y.

    • MilaXX

Looking at her sisters, I think it’s a family trait.

      • Her sisters would have just worn the original outfit though. It’s exactly the kind of grandma fug they like.

        • MilaXX

           lol, true

    • She probably just doesn’t want to. A lot of tiny girls are wearing tights and giant sweaters/dresses lately

    • formerlyAnon

Back when I was very skinny I LOVED the baggy, oversized look and stayed in that wheelhouse most of the time.  I still love it, but while I’m out of my fat phase, it just doesn’t look as good on normal-weight persons so I try to fight the urge.

  • off-topic but REALLY looking forward to what you guys think of the FLOTUS SOTU get-up.

  • MilaXX

She looks really cute here. I love that jacket.

  • Let’s face it, compared to another Olsen or two, she looks really healthy and happy. Though I’m a little biased, she attended my alma mater (NYU) and actually lived in the dorms and studied drama with my roommate

  • Wow, she looks so much more striking with dark hair. She almost doesn’t look like an Olsen at all.

  • Kathy_Marlow

She’s totally the cute Olsen.  I love the outfit, she looks comfortable but stylish.

  • Beardslee

Thank goodness for “pre-fall”!  She gets to wear sleeves, tights, and boots while in the Northeast in wintertime.
Usually she looks a lot older for her years and here she looks like a pretty young girl.  And she can wear black without looking like she’s being helped from her coffin.

  • Annabelle Archer

Cute from top to bottom. Love the hair, love the face, love the skirt, love how it’s all pulled together.

  • Gorgeous girl. I watched Martha Marcy Mae Marlene the other day and now I love her and covet her skin. In the non creepy way. Sort of.

    • kschwarting

She was amazing in that, wasn’t she?

  • Judy_J

Very cute.  Love the short version of that skirt.

  • kolokOlchik

she looks so pretty when she smiles

  • quiltrx

Love the whole look.  Chic and put-together, but still casual and comfortable.

  •  VERY smart move to wear the shortened version of the skirt.  Obviously you don’t want to wear a gown for a fashion show but this looks fab on her, especially paired with the tights and boots.

  • tallgirl1204

I think that is a great “uniform.”  Practical, warm, comfortable, also energetic, cute and “can-do.”

  • Peri7473

ok, i need some help here.  that skirt fabric looks like it came right off my grandmother’s bedspread (not couch, but still)  so why is this ok?  (I do confess, I am challenged when it comes to ok and not ok florals)  can someone explain?

  • Why does she look older than her sisters to me in a couple of the unsmiling photographs?

  • stubbornthoughts

Looks great on her. And I definitely prefer her better with a smile, she has a lovely one. Why don’t Olsen’s like smiling?

  • formerlyAnon

Though most of those FW girls would sell teeth (the ones that don’t show) to look this good, with such awesome hair and makeup and un-rumpled-ness head to toe.

  • l_c_ann

The skirt’s cute because we don’t see a lot of it.  IF we were seeing it full length the “Grandmother’s sofa and drapes” comments would be flying.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

She looks good, but I think her best accessory is her smile.  Not a sourpuss, like her sisters!

  • n a

    wait, there’s another olsen??

  • Sara__B

Cute outfit, but not for the venue.

  • I wish her sisters would dress like her – age appropriate and things that fit.  They would all be so pretty.

  • AthenaJ

    She’s definitely the prettiest Olsen.

Take that Mary Kate and Ashley 😛

  • alyce1213

She’s adorable.  Great that she went with the skirt shortened and skinny jacket — the original is frumpy and she looks cool.

  • LaSylphide

Love the outfit, love the boots; just not together – not sure why, but somehow the proportions seem off.

    Hair is pretty.

  • LindsayGoon

Screw the skirt… WANT. THE JACKET!  Does anyone know who the designer is?

  • cindy_giang

    Mall clothes.

  • butterflysunita

I think it’s a very cute uniform, and looks comfortable too.  I love the jacket.

  • She’ really cute as a brunette.

  • Laylalola

At least there’s one Olsen who wears clothing that comes within two sizes of her actual size.

  • Anniebet

The fabric on the skirt is quite nice. The fact that this Olsen sister has teeth is even nicer. I’d decided that The Twins were born and stayed toothless, cause seriously have you ever seen a pic of them actually smiling with anything other than that closed mouth, lips slightly stretched, pursed mouth smirk?

It will be interesting to see if she’s able to get out from under their shadow. Someday (like in 10 years) maybe no mention of MK and A will be made in comments about Elizabeth.

  • FridaStaire

What is it with those Olsen girls and their terrible posture!

  • kathrineb

A bit boring to my eye but she is so pretty when she smiles.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

It’s really adorable in a totally basic way – does that make sense?  It’s super cute, and really practical for NYC at this time of year.  She looks great!

  • peachy

she’s the only sane olsen apparently. she looks fine. a little boring, but fine.

  • Supercute outfit, LOVE the hair and makeup, she’s a totally different person when she smiles, but WHEN will this girl stop looking like a well-preserved 30something?  There is something about her that is so serious I wonder if she has ever given off a “youthful” appearance.
