DKNY Fall 2013 Menswear Collection

Posted on February 07, 2013

This collection had a more youthful vibe than we expected. Sure, there were the same impeccably cut suits we always see at a DKNY menswear show, but the layering, the range of materials and textures, not to mention the drool-worthy bags and sunglasses, all made for a look perfectly suited for the young, stylish urban male who wants to look good, but isn’t necessarily interested in following trends. We love all of it, but we’d CUT A BITCH for that leather jacket up there.

If I were a boy, I’d want it all.  Except their feet look VERY big — like Li’l Abner.

      • fursa_saida

I think those shoes will work better on people who aren’t so relentlessly twiggy.

        • alyce1213

          True, I like ‘em.

    • Stubenville

      Those knit caps are… unfortunate.

      • alyce1213

        Best simply removed.

         Thang Kew!

      • kimmeister

Perhaps they all moonlight on the waterfront?

      • MilaXX

looks like something the not so talented younger Wayans would wear.

      • Jacqueline Wessel

Someone went to a lot of trouble to skew them all to the side like that…but yes, unfortunate.

    • fursa_saida

I just really want those shoes.

    • MilaXX

That leather jacket is killer, one of you must get it. The rest of the collection is nice, but I want to see some color. My favorite items however, are the shoes. Those I would kill for.

    • kimmeister

The Asian model in the first row looks like John Cho!

    • YoungSally

The brown (puffy?) jacket – middle photo…looks a skoosh tight…..

Or is it perhaps a thinly-veiled attempt to violate CBS’s grammy ban on puffy genitals (although god bless if his genitals are up under his armpit).

    • teensmom99

All fabulous.  and I think you guys deserve the incredible jacket.  Go for it!

    • Lucas Huntington

Those models look MISERABLE.  Like, they are trying to do the opposite of selling the clothes?
This was not my favorite collection by a longshot, but it has at least a couple nice pieces in it.

      • Lori

Several of them do look like their dogs just died. It’s distracting.

    • Pants_are_a_must

They look like cute gnomes in designer menswear.

      • mjude

thank you!  i couldnt think of what the little boys remind me of!  gnomes :)

    • medijie

You know, looking at these young, slim, male models I kept thinking, “but that’s not how real men would look in these clothes …” and I realized, I can say the same thing when I see beautiful clothes on tall, skinny female models.  I having kind of a major epiphany here!

Most of those baby boys look hungry. I feel an overwhelming desire to feed them. The clothes are lovely and I really like the sweaters. But those are gnome hats to me.

    • PeggyOC

I love the clothes.  Can we please stop doing the overlarge knit cap which is pulled way up on the head?  It’s just hideous.

    • StellaZafella

In my youth, there were any number of styles to assimilate but the London Tommy Boys who wore things (by design) a skosh too short and a squik too tight always came off a bit “dorky” to me…this is my gut feeling here. So many nice clothes…so many bad fits.

I know it’s in the attitude, but even the boys don’t seem that happy in these clothes.

All of these looks are very well put-together, but sta the same time, it’s really easy to envision these guys walking down the street of any major city on their way to work or whatnot.

    • filmcricket

In Soviet Russia, bitch cut YOU!

    • SassieCassy

hmmm im not a man and i cant make much of mens fashion. but i like the leather jacket, that is it.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

That’s a pretty nice collection; why did DKNY screw it up by using a SMURF hat on half the models? Dumb.

    • librarygrrl64

That hat looks RIDICULOUS, especially with a suit. Makes them look like depressed trolls. But, then again, I am middle-aged and far from “cool.”

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Patrick-Cleary/1201575213 Patrick Cleary

The leather jacket doesn’t look lined up with itself, like the photo was cut in half and then hastily re-assembled.

      • barbarienne

I thought so too, but on closer inspection it appears to be a deliberate design choice. Not a good one, IMO, but maybe it looks less weird in person.

    • Sarah Thomas

Various levels of the Russian Hipster Mafia.

    • Scott Hester-Johnson

      For fuck’s sake, SMILE!

    • http://twitter.com/JohnOCinJP John O’Connell

These models are so skinny that their heads are going to snap off their necks at any moment.

    • Beardslee

I see what you mean about that first jacket but that bleary dour young model looks like a member of the Hitler Youth. In fact, what a bunch of sad sacks.  Clothes are nice, though.

    • snarkykitten

those hats make them look like incredibly stylish homeless guys

    • Puckndc

SOMEONE needs to rethink mens pants lately…the don’t drape right and are always too long..

    • guest2visits

Most of the pants are alittle too skinny or pegged looking for me to like.  Or maybe that means these are all just kids in these pics!

    • ccm800

I dont like much of it at all! But I sure do agree about that leather jacket.

    • barbarienne

And again with the giant shoes. WHY ARE ALL MEN WEARING CLOWN SHOES.

    • boweryboy

I’m not sure if the hats are scrunched a certian way  or if they’re structured to be all askew and pointy, but I love the hats.

I usually dress for work like third row first photo or sixth row middle photo so the addition of the pointy hat to what I’d wear is that outside-of-the-box element I look for to give me some edge.

It’s outside of the box enough to add some punctuation to what I’d wear but it’s not so outside my comfort zone that I wouldn’t rock it like it owed me rent.

    • kategs

Love the clothing, loathe those silly hats.

    • Imasewsure

Hate the caps but every single man-boy I know wears them (never mind what the weather is) so I think it was right to add them. Love the real life but real made clothes we puts out year after year…

    • lalahartma

      Those hats are silly.
