Pretty if not earth-shattering. She’s pulling off the sheer skirt a lot better than many other starlets.

      • Julie Parr

        She’s 41. Is that still a “starlet?” If so, I’m so pleased (I’m 45).

        • Sobaika

You’re shitting me. On Scandal she looks a bit more severe, but I attributed that to he stick straight hair on the show. I didn’t know she had hit her forties.

I sort of use starlet for anyone who isn’t undeniably A-List, when they’re a Star.

          • JosephLamour

She also plays Castle’s Sharon Stone esque ex wife on Castle. Her character likes leaving little to the imagination on that show sometimes. She looks GREAT (not just for 45, for whatever age).

              Deep-fried Twinkie.

        • SassieCassy

i think its because of her maturity that she is pulling off the sheer skirt. gives it statliness.

Is that Castle’s deep-fried twinkie? She looks good.

    • MilaXX

I almost didn’t recognize her. Pretty,  not earth shattering, but she cleaned up nice.

    • jw_ny

Pretty, but how can a redhead in a sparkly dress manage to look so dull?

      • shnaggi

Agreed I think the problem may start with her head…..wrong hair and lipstick and it needs the Jaunty little hat to wake the outfit up.

    • gabbilevy

I like that her hair isn’t pin-straight for once. Makes her look much softer. It’s a lot of dress, and she’s wearing it well, but is it slightly askew?

    • karenbttc

I never noticed before how much she looks like the lovechild of Laura Prepon and KaDee Strickland…

    • Janet B

Pretty. It’s awful on the runway model.

    • Annabelle Archer

She looks shimmery waif-like, which in Hollywood is not a bad thing.  But also a little like a love child between Jessica Chastain and Leslie Mann.

    • Jennifer Coleman

Good Grief, she looks so much softer than her tv character’s rather hard disapproving demeanor. Dress is nice enough.

    • mmc2315

Hair off the shoulders and some jewelry please.

      • kschwarting

I agree with the hair and am also not in love with the makeup, but she looks great!

    • Isana Leshchinskaya

      where’s glenn?

      • charlotte

         Stalking female Drapers of course.

    • MarissaLG

I’m not 100% sure if the color works for her, but I LOVE this gown. The color gradient deal is beautiful.

    • E. D.

Nice, but maybe a colored bag would have been an improvement.

is it just me or does that dress (very pretty, especially in that last photo, look like it’s about to slide right off her (non-existent) chest and into a puddle at her feet?

      • kimmeister

I definitely noticed that the bust is not fitting her very well.

    • BuffaloBarbara

Not really feeling the sheer skirts this year.  Shrug.  Pretty enough, though, and I love her hair.

    • MK03

Helen Bishop is turnin’ it out.

    • IAmJ

Pretty dress but not loving the hair.

    • formerlyAnon

I usually complain about the skirts which trail inches on the ground, but this looks really good. Not in love with the hairstyle, but if she pulled it up she’d have needed more jewelry.

Now, I will take the hat that she did not.

    • Eva_baby

I think this looks nice on her.  And I love her hair here. I wish she’s wear her hair curlier in the show, but apparently Abby’s bone straight hair on the show as much part of her character as her prickly attitude.

    • alyce1213

The sheer skirt is done well here — it’s not hootchy.  She looks very nice.

    • Nariya

Snaps up for the Face. She’s working it.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Pretty. It has a little visual interest, but it’s not overdone.

    • stubbornthoughts

I love this, she looks glamorous. Not perfect, but lovely nonetheless.

    • marilyn

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Fabulous dress and makeup. I wish her hair was behind her neck and shoulders. It would make her look elegant as opposed to just pretty.

    • Stubenville

      Nice – sheer without vulgar.

Nit-picky; not happy with how the embroidery / sequins / beading / whatever make the neckline look ragged.

    • J. Preposterice

It almost looks like she is using her hair as dress straps.  Which might not be a bad idea, because it is perilously low on the nip.

    • decormaven

It does seem to ride low on the bosom. If it were fitted higher on the chest, I would be more effusive in praise. Also, stylist, try to nab some jewelry next time as well. It’s a pity to see such a sparkling gown without any real accents.

    • Trisha26

The gown is beautiful if a little dull even with all that bedazzling (gray?) but it looks a little crooked on her, is sitting too low, and looks dangerously long.

    • rkdgal

She and Leslie Mann need to play sisters, pronto!

    • oohsparkley!

I love it. She looks Hollywood glamorous!

    • Giustina Pileggi

i wish she’d worn the little hat with it

    • Warrior89

OMG love love love love. Perfection.

    • shnaggi

Strawberry Bland Hair and  nude make up wastes this dress where is the DRAMA…You should have left the hat on, put some colour on your face, shoes and bag….Slate grey, Charcoal sucks the life out of her.

    • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

This is great. I love the colour and even the sheer skirt isn’t bothering me.

    • libraangel

Beautiful dress, beautiful girl, but it still makes dizzy and nauseous looking at those top sequins. Also, it doesn’t seem as sheer as the runway model’s, and the bodice is different.

    • PeaceBang

I’m so worried that free-form cuffs are going to be a thing.

    • barbarienne

Her hair is GORGEOUS, so smooth and shiny!

That said, I wish she put it back and let us see her face. I have to assume this was just for the pictures, because I can’t imagine going all night with my hair in my face and around my neck.

Also–jewelry? Hello? The woman has such long limbs and fingers. She should wear a couple of bracelets. This dress suits her very well, but the look feels just the slightest bit unfinished.

    • Sally Brownson

FAB. That’s all I gotta say.

    • Frank Lithium

Well done, and I especially approve her shit-eating, bitch-I-look-good smile.

    • kathrineb

Dress is passable but all I can think is….God this woman is STUNNING! If I look half this good at her age I will be eternally thankful. I also really love the soft curls and the hair colour.

    • Alyssa

I think the sheer skirt works here because it’s not “in your face” sheer…it’s very subtle.
