Chloe Moretz in West Hollywood

Posted on February 22, 2013

Well shit. Chloe just went from “cute, precocious baby teen who sometimes dresses too old for her age,” to “really cool chick who’s probably too cool to talk to us.”

Chloe Moretz grabs lunch in West Hollywood carrying a Miu Miu bag and wearing Fiorentini + Baker booties.

Fiorentini + Baker ‘Eli’ Bootie

We are living for those boots and that purse. That outfit could’ve gone either way but those two punctuation points are taking it where it needs to go. It’s possible she was styled for this, but if not, she’s showing really good style instincts here. We think she looks fantastic.

But oh, honey. The double thumbs-up? Not even ironically, dear.

  • I would do unspeakable things for those boots.

    • Unspeakable things like spending $530 on boots? 😉

These are actually some of the most affordable covetable shoes I’ve seen on Tlo…

      • A. Valera

Clearly, you typed $530 but in my mind I read $350 — so I moseyed on over and clicked the link only to be squashed by $530.  Boooo to hopeful vision.

      • That’s what I was thinking.

    • those boots would do unspeakable things to you.
      because they are KILLA.

  • Even the sunglasses are cool! And the hair looks amazing. But the whole thing screams ‘I’ve-been-styled-by-someone-other-than-me’ a little to much for me… no?

    • I agree: she had help.  But what’s the event?

      • A staged pap photo.

        • You mean these gal-on-the-street things might not always be spontaneous?  Suddenly, I feel so naive.

          •  Lie down till it passes, dear.

          • Heh.  But for reals: it never occurred to me that these things would be staged, though upon reflection it seems obvious that they would be.

          • If it makes you feel better, it never occurred to me either until I read about it here. I just assumed that people, you know, dress themselves for a trip to run errands. The world of celebrities is so different.

          • I’ve totally already hired a stylist for my trip to the grocery store today.

  • IAmJ

    This bag is EVERYTHING.

    • WANT.

    • StillGary

Aw c’mon, that bag looks like something she garbage picked … why would they do that to a perfectly good cow? OK, if that is repurposed leather — I take it all back!

      •  I agree, I do NOT like the beat up bag – it’s like buying jeans with holes already in. Cute boots tho.

      • miagain

I’m with you… I don’t get the “distressed” bag…. looks like something from my grandmother’s trunk!

        • fursa_saida

EXACTLY. Which is why it’s so awesome. If I had a grandmother’s trunk full of stuff like that, you can bet I’d be wearing it.

  • Annabelle Archer

I’ve long maintained that she is an old soul and the kind of chick I desperately wanted to be friends with in high school.

  • MilaXX

She just can’t resist posing can she? My vote goes for styled look, but it’s cute nonetheless.

  • that bag is giving me life

  • This is such a simple look, but what I love is that she’s not doing the duck face. Bravo for that.

  • lbl

I think she just likes clothes. She’s dressed well in a lot of her candids and I can’t imagine her being styled for all of them.

  • jencapture

I understand that the distressed “lived-in” appearance of the bag is intentional, but it gives the appearance of having been to hell and back…

    • carpediva

But with a perfect white logo; weird.

      • formerlyAnon

Not so much weird as “effect-ruining” for me.

    • MK03

It looks like it spent a few days out in the yard with the dog.

    • butterflysunita

I really hate the bag. You could only carry it if you were perfectly, stylishly and expensively dressed–so people realize that your bag is not actually old and beat up.

      • andreawey

  • Wasn’t she always the really cool chick who’s probably too cool to talk to us?

  • mhleta

You’re living for the purse and boots, I want to live IN them.

  • jilly_d

That hair color. I want to go to there.

  • oldbobbydraper

holy shit those boots are not worth $500. i see better-looking knock offs on modcloth[dot]com all the time, for a fraction of that price.

  • siriuslover

She looks cool. I have plenty of thirty-year old bags people could borrow instead of paying a fortune for that miu miu bag! 😉 J/K I kind of want it and the boots. Especially the boots.

  • Aw, I kinda like the thumbs up.  I do *not* like the bag.  There is fashionably distressed, and then there is trashed.  That bag crosses the line.

The boots are pretty cool, though.

    • Yup, yup, and yup.

    • EveEve

Chloe to photog:  did ya get the money shot with the purse, boots, and sunglasses?
Photog:  yep – we’re good to go.
Chloe:  double thumbs up.  OK, back inside now to dump this stuff and put on my real clothes.

  • This entire look is incredibly easy to reproduce. When the collective cost is likely astronomical, I doubt that is a compliment. She looks cute, but I see girls dressed like this all the time (funded by an average income). And I’m sorry, that bag pisses me off.

    • Exactly. She looks fine, but there is nothing particularly interesting about this look and the sweater is even kind of fugly. Tossing a sweater on top of skinny jeans and pairing it with booties and a leather bag doesn’t seem particularly style savvy. The only thing that sets this look apart is the prize tag.

      • HomeOfficeGirl

Agree 100% on the sweater and the bag.  Where I’ll jump on w/ TLO is the hair and glasses.  Perfect.

  • BrooklynBomber

Okay, but I have a question; maybe someone from the really really tight-pants-wearing segment of the commentariat can tell me: isn’t that incredibly uncomfortable, especially if you want to sit or eat (or, in fact, do anything except stand in front of a dressing room mirror)?

    • barbarienne

Depends on the weave, the cut, and the amount of spandex. Modern fabrics are awesomely stretchy.

      • BrooklynBomber

I don’t know how people do it. I have a pair of jeans that are tight (not that tight, but tight); they look great, but they give me a stomachache.

        • Mazenderan

Is the waistband on them really rigid?  I have jeans and trousers that do that, but when I got my first pair of skinny jeans from H&M last year, I realised how stretchy and comfy they are.

  • barbarienne

Oh, come on, it’s for paparazzi. I think I would be giving them the double thumbs-up while thinking to myself what a thumbs-up meant a few hundred years ago (and still means in a few places in the world).

  • Nonmercisansfacon

She looks cute and I love the double thumbs up.

  • Lilithcat

That bag is ridiculous.  You know it cost a fortune, and it looks like a thrift shop reject.

  • She looks like a young Karen Gillan. Not that Karen Gillan looks old. And I agree with @twitter-19047054:disqus about those boots!

  • nannypoo

Adorable. The purse appears to be older than she is, and I would cut a bitch (although not her) for it.

  • What I like the most is the smirk, though. Without it, none of this would work.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

She looks comfortable and like a total cool chick.  You can’t beat that.

  • LeeFrew527

She has never really appealed to me until this. Very cute.

  • libraangel

Typical teen  very cute, but nothing special. But I don’t like the bag: it looks SUPER distressed

  • Trisha26

Loving the sunglasses, the boot are okay. That bag is the equivalent of the ripped-jeans look. Horrible.

  • l_c_ann

Now, hon, next time you come by the house, plan to stay at least an hour.  I bet with enough polish and elbow grease we can have that old bag lookin’ almost as good as new.

  • guest2vists

I think this is all cute and appropriate to her age.. except maybe the skin tights;  am I too prudish to think that maybe something
that’s skirting camel-toe is just a touch TOO tight for.. well, anyone?   Still; this is alot more stlyish than say, Miley.

  • Lilak

Aside from the price tag differential, this is common or garden variety high school and college wear in my neck of the woods.

Not particularly stunned that Miss Chloe herself wears it out of the house (!) from time to time.

  • ojosazules

    The bag is stupid.

  • i have those boots and I LIVE in them. I have worn them so much I’ve had to get them resoled twice. They last forever and are SO worth it if you can take the plunge

  • Love that bag.

  • formerlyAnon

I could go for the bag if it looked authentically hard-used, but that nice, fresh shiny “miu miu” displayed so prominently ruins it.

And that’s BEFORE I indulge my boring tic about items which make their owners into walking billboard advertisements.

And those are a stylistic step up from (what I datedly call) standard issue engineer’s boots.

  • Marian Humin

I just threw away a couple of bags like that one.

  • quiltrx

Love the boots!  And that hair color is REALLY flattering for her.

  • kathrineb

OK I approve but jeans are too tight.

  • Julie Parr

I found a pair of Fiorentini + Baker boots on ebay that I absolutely adore and coveted for about 2 years before I bought. They were still expensive, but less so and I’ve never once regretted it. They are my favorite thing in my closet. If only I had that Miu Miu bag to go with …

  • BuffaloBarbara

I really don’t like the bag.  The deliberately distressed thing is just annoying to me.  That’s when I get rid of a purse.  (Of course, for me, that is usually because the thin vinyl veneer is peeling off the cheap fabric underlay, but still.)

The booties are adorable, though, and I will pretend that she just switched digits at the last minute while giving a salute to paparazzi.

  • alyce1213

I have a problem with the disingenuousness of artificially aged/distressed things.  Like her handbag.  And her.

  • Want the boots, want the purse.  Dying.

  • newtonGOTbeaned

She’s so adorable. And way better dressed than I am. I should probably take notes.

  • Deb Oswald

I can’t imagine that anyone would be too cool to talk with TLo- they should be so lucky!

  • Super. Cute.

  • sk8tfan

And the spiked bracelet adds just a dash of sass without overwhelming the look. I don’t even mind the thumbs;  her facial expressions are adorable and lively and age appropriate. Besides, she does deserve two thumbs up!

  • TheOtherChristina

I think I need to know about those glasses. I have already begun stalking the boots.

  • snarkykitten

    wow…a sweater & dark jeans…

  • Cute. But I don’t get the love for the purse; it reminds me of any number of battered black purses in thrift stores, but with Miu Miu branding. But I dig this color combo.

  • I think she looks kick-ass.

  • turtleemily

She kinda looks like Amber Tamblyn here. Does Amber Tamblyn do anything anymore?

I wish the sweater wasn’t the same color as her hair. Does anyone know about her spiky watch, though? I kinda love it.

    • hac51

Amber Tamblyn married David Cross…and that’s all I’ve got.

  • afabulous50

My lower half hurts just looking at those pants.  Hope she went home and let herself breathe after that…

  • Alyssa

Very enviable look from her…even if it is likely styled, it’s styled well. I would like one of every piece please!

  • selianth

I’ve seen no mention of the spiked wrist cuff which is also pretty awesome for this look. It may have been styled but she looks great so at least she got her money’s worth.

  • The distressed Miu Miu bag is a nice edgy touch.  🙂

  • What’s with the matching hair and sweater? That looks good on my chihuahua.

  • H2olovngrl

I love the double thumbs up almost as much as a good finger gun. At least she isn’t scowling down the lens of the camera. She is young, rich and good looking, so therefore has a lot to be double thumb-upping for. You go little girl!

  • Zyxomma

One thumb for Tom, the other for Lorenzo.
