WERQ: Gabrielle Union in Hervé L. Leroux

Posted on January 23, 2013

Flawless:

Gabrielle Union attends the Inaugural Ball hosted by BET Networks at Smithsonian American Art Museum & National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC in Hervé L. Leroux.

Just beautiful, That color looks amazing on her, the shape is flattering as hell (not that she needed the help) and she’s exquisitely diamond’d up for the occasion. The face is perfection. Obviously she’s wearing makeup, but she looks fresh and not too painted. Beautiful job by her makeup artist. The hair is just okay. We don’t dislike it enough to withhold our love.

Beauty snaps, girl. You WERQ that inaugural shit.

      Awesome.  :)

I LOVE her makeup. I think people and celebs should strive for this more frequently.

      • Funkykatt

I agree, she’s showing what’s real instead of what always looks overdone and fake. Just what a natural beauty should do.

        • Alyssa Stanfield

Absolutely! When you have a face like that, why would you want to cover it up in layers of makeup? She looks the best I’ve seen her look in quite some time!

      • DaringMiss

Absolutely.  Her face is properly accented to show up for cameras and bright lights, yet will probably look just as gorgeous when someone is standing 3 feet from her at the ball.

And that color is just beyond perfect!

    • alyce1213

Gasp. Just gorgeous. That dress is so beautifully constructed, and that shade of purple is amazing on her. I see that the lining (underskirt) stops above the knee, which I don’t always like so much, but this is understated because the fabric is not super sheer. A WERQ for sure.

    • 3boysful

Amazing how much better a Wilma dress looks with the addition of a wide strap.

Gaby looks simply stunning and classy.

    • Judy_J

      Perfection.

    • http://www.facebook.com/henry.maler Henry Maler

My gay gasp is shaking the rafters. She looks SICK-O-NING.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Deducting a fraction of a point because the lining doesn’t go the whole way down. But what a beautiful colour dress.

    • Kayceed

Beautiful, youthful, appropriate, elegant. Everything is spot on.

      • lovelyivy

Agreed- and she is 40!!!! I still can’t get past the fact that she is 40 and looks like that.

        • dorothea_brooke

40 and she still could play a cheerleader.  (Runs to my room and slams the door.  Hard.)

          • lovelyivy

My reaction was similar, but more like “run to sephora and buy lots of moisturizer and sunscreen then stare longingly at empty wallet”

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZLU6YVO4BRTELTTH3GRAAMWZQ Dot

           Holy hell…she IS 40. I’m amazed.

        • another_laura

I’m gobsmacked that she is 40.  Bravo, girl, bravo.

    • Sobaika

BEAUTIFUL. I also want to applaud her jewelry. Diamonds belong on the red carpet!

    • mjude

i really like the dress.  she looks just lovely

    • Vaniljekjeks

       UNF.  Fabulous.

    • decormaven

      WERQ’ing it for sure. Snaps!

    • Introspective

she’s so fab it hurts. this look is stunning.

    • Airkisses

My thought process upon seeing this:

Wow, she looks beautiful! Wait, she IS pretty beautiful anyway. Aha! The perfect example of clothes highlighting a woman’s natural beauty! It flatters her shape, her face, her skin, and doesn’t give a single thing to complain about. Why isn’t this a WERQ!???

      • Isadora Paiva

        Hmm, because it is?

    • SewingSiren

      Yes.

    • Airkisses

It all adds instead of detracts! Think of how many naturally gorgeous celebs are done wrong by their clothes.

    • ejsesqueer

I’m not sure about the fabric cascading from her lady parts.  Amanda Seyfreid had a similar vagina veil at the golden globes.  Not my favorite

      • Sara__B

Since the cascading fabric originates at the top of the gown, I don’t mind it. The cascades that start right at the lady parts? Those I hate!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZLU6YVO4BRTELTTH3GRAAMWZQ Dot

How is this a “vagina veil”? The pleating/cascade begin all the way at the top of the gown — not on top of her vagina.

    • PeggyOC

I’d like just a scooch more color on the lip, but that may be a nit-pick.  The look is indeed flawless.

    • http://twitter.com/Goldielox73 Goldie

I wish she just had a little bit of color on her lips.  In the smiling pic, her top lip kind of disappears.  Other than that, GORGEOUS!

    • formerlyAnon

      Total WERQ!

    • Sara__B

Sexy but elegant! Not skin tight! I love this.

    • lilibetp

Gabriel is one of the most beautiful women in the world.  Absolute perfection.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Everything about this look is gorgeous.

    • gabbilevy

Gorgeous woman wearing a dress that’s letting her shine. Perfection.

    • f_yeah_marie

      Gorgeous

    • Annabelle Archer

      C’est magnifique!

    • sk8tfan

Perfection. And her smile is the perfect accessory.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZLU6YVO4BRTELTTH3GRAAMWZQ Dot

She looks effortless and gorgeous — that shade of purple is simply stunning on her. Makeup is super fresh!

    • Monday1900

She looks great but I think the visible zipper cheapens the look.

      • Melissa Brogan

I agree, I kinda hate the zipper. BUT from the front she looks stellar. Love her.

        • SRQkitten

The time has really come for the exposed zipper trend to be done. Not to return for a couple of decades.

          srq

    • mhleta

That’s how it’s done. Frozen premenopausal lady snaps coming at her from New England.

    • filmcricket

I’m not wild about the under-skirt, the exposed zipper, or the way the fabric appears to be bunching around her hips, but there’s no doubt it’s a gorgeous colour on an even more gorgeous woman. This lady does not age. I would like to know what landscaper installed the fountain of youth in her backyard, and if she will give me his number.

    • Jenna621

I think she is easily one of the most beautiful people in Hollywood.  She almost always looks like perfection.

    • MilaXX

Agreed this is a Werq in my eyes. Love that color.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Tasteful, appropriate and oh, so elegant. Huzzah, lady!

    • Trisha26

      Pretty!

    • BrooklynBomber

She’s so cute. And I don’t love the dress, but it looks great on her. Total WERQ, right down to hair, make up, and accessories.

    • nannypoo

No kidding. Flawless in every way.

    • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

I adore her make-up. And everything about this look, really. But her make-up is so gorgeous it deserves noting.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

Love everything about the whole look ‘cept for how obvious that back zipper is. Makes is look cheap prom dress.

    • ballerinawithagun

She is so cute! Just divine.

    • E. D.

      WERQ

    • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

      she’s just so pretty!!

    • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Krysta

Holy shit that’s a gorgeous woman.

    • http://twitter.com/irmaladuce_l8ly IrmaLaDuce

After Halle’s desperate turn at the Golden Globes, I’m ready to declare a new Most Beautiful Black Woman. Gabrielle is a strong contender for the crown, provided she and her hairstylist agree to ease up a little on the Yaki.

    • Patricia Gillett

      Perfection.

    • SophieCollier

Her face is radiant!  Gorgeous!  Love the dress detail on the front.  The back is just meh, but it’s the back, so who cares?  Her hair is sweet.

    • Call me Bee

She has always been a stunning beauty–ever since her “Bring It On” days and she is radient here.  WERQ, indeed.

    • http://www.facebook.com/NadiyaOsmani Pudgy Possum

She looks  like she can be 20! I love this outfit, and Union is gorgeous to a tee. But somehow I feel that it’s presented in a boring way (maybe a necklace?).

    • jw_ny

gorgeous!  I <3 her.  I love it all and even the kinda messy do.

    • http://twitter.com/jen_canary Jennifer Ford

I love her. Why isn’t she the biggest star ever? She’s smart, talented, tough, awesome, and gorgeous.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

CanNOT believe she’s 40, that face still says 20s to me!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603005248 Jeff Warhurst

She was in Bring It On; yes?  She’s gorgeous and she can’t be un-gorgeous because of how gorgeous she is.  :)

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/Y3OY6COEVBS2STNCUNIRZ3COUE Claudia

      Stupidly beautiful.  Not fair.

    • Tatiana Luján

a very well deserved WERQ. I like the hair, I thin it looks soft and pretty without being basset houndish.

    • mmc2315

I’m usually not a fan of that kind of asymmetrical neckline, but this WERQs for me.

Make-up, dress color, even the hair…lovely.

    • warnerave

it’s nice but not WERQ worthy

    • BPlease

She looks amazing – that makeup is spectacular.  People say this about other celebrities but Gabrielle Union truly doesn’t seem to age.  (Second runner-up IMO in this category is Julia Louis-Dreyfus.)

I also love how *appropriate* she looks – flawlessly beautiful and thus eye-catching, but tasteful and chic as hell.  Take note, Beyonce.

      • UglyTalents

Wow. Though I hear the name and see her picture sometime, I don’t really know who this actress is … but I was thinking that that was because she was some Nickolodeon or Disney Channel starlet (off my radar) just getting into her 20s. This woman is 40?! 40?!!!! She looks incredible.

    • Jessica Goldstein

I even love the hair: soft, pretty, not too “done”. This look is literally picture perfect.

    • julnyes

Simply gorgeous. The styling and make-up are just highlighting her natural assets.

    • guest2visits

      Beautiful dress, she looks fantastic.

    • barbarienne

She is so stunning. I fully expect her to get cast as Shelly O in a biopic in 2017.

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com cheekypinky

      WHOA.

      That color!

    • shelley514

She’s serving up her cutie pie, but boring side in this.
