WERQ: Emily Blunt in Emilio Pucci

Posted on January 09, 2013

Miss Emily is giving primo bitchface here.

Emily Blunt attends the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City in an Emilio Pucci dress accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Stuart Weitzman pumps.

Emilio Pucci Fall 2012 Collection

And this is definitely a look that calls for primo bitchface.

We’re a bit surprised we like this so much, since we generally don’t love skin-colored clothing, but there’s just enough of a contrast here for it to work. It fits her like a dream and the cutouts are subtle and sexy. Face looks gorgeous (hair’s just okay) and we are truly loving the micro-trend for metallic pumps on the red carpet. They make the perfect punctuation for the look. You WERQ that sexy, girl.

  • She looks so damn hot here. Werq it girl!

  • Love everything except the hair, I wish she’d go back to a darker color.

    • Yeah, I really am not a fan of the blonde on her. It’s not awful, but the dark hair is just so much more flattering.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

She really does kill it as a brunette.  Geez, to have the body to WERQ a dress like that.

  • Sobaika

Why is everyone going blonde? And if they need to do so for a role, can’t colorists give them more flattering shades?

It’s a great dress and she is certainly werqing. I hope she attends the Globes this week, she’s one of my favorites on the red carpet.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

And why can’t the colorists pay attention to the roots of a person’s hair?  That drives me crazy!

  • I prefer it in the black but she does look good!

  • Kayceed

Why are the neck cut-outs backed with netting and the others not? Puzzled…

    • Jennifer Coleman

I know, right? It looks like there is something interesting going on with the rear slit, too.

      • littlemac8

I saw that in other pics, too.  It looks like a chiffon kick pleat so the poor dear can take a step or two!!!

  • editrixie

    Simply gorgeous.

  • TAT93

It reminds me a little of the Alexander McQueen dress she WERQed last time, but I guess she really do have a fabulous figure to pull this type of dress off. Totally love her sexy-yet-classy vibe, but still, dark hair does suit her better I have to say : ) All in all, a 100% Werq!

    • Thuc Dang

Anja Rubik is great. Such an elegant model.

  • Great look. Love it.

  • marilyn

I don’t like the color.  If it had been in black, it would have been great.  It looks like a big slitted bandaid.

    • gabbilevy

As is, I really don’t like it all that much.

    • mhleta

    • filmcricket

      Well said.

  • Note to Stella, THIS is how you do cut outs.  Not sure how I feel about the neckline cutouts having a different underlay than the rest of them, but eff it!  It’s a gorge look!

  • suzq

My favorite part is that the dress is not super short.  I’m getting tired of micro minis.  As for her hair, I think her roots are trying to go for a darker shade!

  • EverybodysStarling

  • NC_Meg

The dress is great (although I do like the black better) but the hair looks like mine did after I walked across campus in the wind today.

  • I really dislike cutouts, so anyone pulling them off is an automatic WERQ in my world.  Bonus points when the fabric is close to their own skin tone.  You go, Emily.

    • captrenault

Agreed.  My default setting is not to like this, but — DAMN.

  • charlotte

I like the dress, but not its color and her hair color. Color blind WERQ so to speak.

  • Judy_J

If ever a dress required Spanx, that one does!  She looks great…not a bump or a wrinkle to be found.

    • kimmeister

And yet the cutouts are her way of saying, “I am pulling this look off without Spanx so eat your hearts out, haters!”

  • veronkimo

I don’t understand how you all can be on board (even if the sentiment is only half-hearted) with the hair. She does look great!

  • She looks great but apparently she shared a limo with a slasher.  The cutouts keep it from being a great dress IMO.

  • decormaven

It is counter to things I traditionally detest (nude color, cutouts) but she is making it WERQ. Her MUA did a stellar job- nice choice of lip color.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think I would have preferred to see her in the black version that the model has on.

  • A great look, but I keep thinking how much better it would be with her formerly darker hair.

  • miagain

    hubba hubba!!
The fug girls didn’t like this quite as much, but I’m with you… she looks fabulous!

  • mhleta

Oy vey. I like this so much better in black and above the knee the way it is on the model. Why is this color good and the one on Amanda Seyfried bad? This looks like mole skin to me and beyond boring to my eye, although I bow to her slammin’ body.

  • NYC designer JACKIE ROGERS did this in the 90’s…Like the color

  • You know what, I hate beige. But that dress is bleh in black and so extremely hot in beige that I am fanning myself. Wowie! Werq indeed.

  • LOVE.

  • Allison Woods

I really don’t care for that dress, but her face is channeling La Stone, in a very good way.

  • Mary229

She looks amazing but I can’t get over that it’s so clear that you can’t wear underwear withthis dress due to that low cutout.  Still…awesome.

  • maggiemaybe

Bitchface with adorable little nose freckles! I just love her…

  • librarygrrl64

I don’r care for the color of the dress. I think it would have worked better if she was still a brunette (which I also prefer on her). But it fits her beautifully.

  • StellaZafella

Everything’s gorgeous and I lurv the dress…but,– Bitch face in the close up looks like half of a Lily Tomlin / Ernestine impression…
” YYYellow…Have I reached number to whom I am speaking?”

  • snarkykitten

The bandaid on my finger matches that dress exactly.

  • Jecca2244

She has an insane body. there is no way she could be wearing spanx with that cutout. wow.

  • She looks fabulous in this dress, the color holds it back from a WERQ.  Sometimes I don’t understand why some actresses are nailed for wearing something too close to their hair color and this gets a werq?   I would have even agreed to a  werq if this was white.  Then again, what do I know?  I just came back from walking my dog in my pajamas.

  • E. D.

    Agreed, even love the hair.

  • I normally wouldn’t like this (I hate cutouts, and I hate nude-colored dresses), but on her it sort of works. I think the gold shoes do it for me.

  • Trisha26

Would have preferred the illusion netting on all cutouts like on the black version. Otherwise WERQ.

  • guest2visits

I would have liked it better without the slit at the waist; but it’s still gorgeous on her.
She’s someone who looks fantastic brunette or blonde.

  • margaret meyers

    That’s how monochrome is done.

  • Verascity

Love the dress, HATE the color.

  • I like the dress better in black. This looks a little like the body stocking the prisoner wore in Almodovar’s Skin movie.

  • MilaXX

I don’t see this as a werq. Between her hair color/skin color & shoe, she is too monotone for me. I think the dress needs to be mailed back to JLo.

  • quiltrx

I’d like this better with just the shoulder cutouts.  It definitely looks like a bitchdress (in a good way).

  • Call me Bee

Love this. She looks smoking hot in this outfit!
I actually saw it earlier today on the Stuart Weitzman newsletter.  They called them iridescent, as opposed to metallic,  and I am excited that I could actually buy these!   Unlike the $1200 shoes celebs usually wear…

  • Tatiana Luján

    definitely a WERQ

  • thats my girl! and she dont care whether you like it or not.

  • Frank Lithium

I just LOVE the subtle contempt she is giving to the camera.

  • pdquick

I think that’s the only face she can make right now.

  • ZnSD

Simply the best WERQ in quite some time. BRAVA DIVA!

  • Anniebet

Quite lovely, even if her bosoms don’t appear to be in the same time zone together. The dress color is fetching, the length is absolutely perfection.  I prefer the brunette Ms. Blunt to the blonde, but this combo is pretty darned scrumptious.

All FAB except the hair.  I’m just not that crazy about this cut or color for her.  But that dress does fit her unbelievably well.

  • meebs

    hello, nose job. werq nonetheless.

  • bluefish

I’m just happy over the seeming return of pretty, feminine, sensible shoes!  She looks great.  Like the dress she is wearing so much better than the overdone black on the model.

  • girliecue

Of course she’s got bitchface: someone put Baby in the corner. No one puts Baby in the corner! Especially when she’s rocking the hell out of that dress!

  • She completely owned the bitch face. I can picture all the jealous wanna-be-bitches behind the camera hating her. Also, that is some figure, girl!

  • aquamarine17

fantastico! love the whole look, including the hair. love the gold shoes. love the black version of the dress, as well. the hem is perfect. love the shoulder slashes. it would look great with square toed shoes, like the model’s

  • littlemac8

I have never seen a better fitting dress in my life or what looks to be the perfect body.  There are no lumps or bumps.  FlAWLESS fit.  Still dislike her as a blonde; they’re so dime a dozen.

  • neofashionista

amazing but why did she have to go nude why not a color

  • It reminds me of Natalie Portman’s slashed outfit in “Attack of the Clones”.

You know, if we’re admitting that that movie exists.
