SAG Awards 2013 Red Carpet – Part 3

Posted on January 28, 2013

Final load! Move ’em out!

Amy Poehler in Zuhair Murad

She looks great, full stop. We always have some nit-picky thing to say about her, but she nailed it this time.

Busy Philipps in Gabriela Cadena

God, no. We’re all for proudly showing all three of your trimesters off, but there are WAY more flattering dresses than this to choose.

Clea DuVall in Gomez-Gracia

Pretty enough. Looks a bit like she should be opening refrigerators on The Price is Right.

Edie Falco in Chagoury

Dress: not bad. Matching Wonder Woman cuffs: bad.

Jaimie Alexander in Marc Bouwer

There is just way too much going on with this dress.

Jane Lynch in David Meister Signature

Oooh, Miss Jane went a little edgy-dom! We don’t love it, but she’s been in a years-long style rut, so we appreciate the boldness.

Jenna Fischer in Jenny Packham

Jessica Pare in Jason Wu

Great color, but the lines of the dress are oddly unflattering.

Kaley Cuoco in Romona Keveza

 Christmas ornament.

Lea Michelle in Valentino

Of course.

Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior Couture

Melissa Rauch in Oliver Tolentino

Pretty color, but otherwise a yawn.

Sarah Hyland in Dolce&Gabbana

It’s a little “saloon girl,” but it’s striking.

Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan Atelier

Another case of not loving the dress, but not being willing to bitch about it, since she finally broke out of a long style rut.

Viola Davis in Monique Lhuillier

Ok, I have to go with Marion Cotillard for the win! Followed closely by Miss Shipka.

      • halleygee

I was basically going to write this same comment, my thought exactly!

      • Chickadeep

OMG, me too. Those are my two faves of this event. Viola D. for a close third. If Marion’s hair had been in some kind of chignon instead of the bob, that would have been my choice for WERQ.

        • makeityourself

Exactly. Marion looked elegant, modern, fresh, sophisticated, polished and beautiful. And comfortable in herself.

Almost all the rest of them looked contrived, self conscious, booby, predictable, boring, and ill-at-ease.

          • loveisblind1

Yes. Especially if you compare her to the picture above her, Lea Michele. Marion just looks like an effortless beauty compared to her.

      • Tom Shea

I think it’s a cute meta-wink that we can only see one of her arms in the picture.

      • miagain

You took the words right out of my mouth, errr typing or whatever.  I would also have to add Viola Davis to that round-up.

        • Alyssa

Those were my three favorites as well! And Kelly O for a close 4th place!

      • PeggyOC

I have her tied with Viola D.  I out and out gasped when I saw that shot.  She’s stunning.

      • ecallaw1977

I think Marion looks pretty, but I just don’t get all the hubbaloo about this.  Or about Viola.  She’s wearing a pretty color but needs a better bra.  For this lot, I think it’s Amy Poehler for the win, followed by Sarah Hyland if she would lay off the bronzer a bit.  My mouth literally (and I don;t use that word in vain) dropped open at the sight of Jane Lynch’s dress and Kaley Cuoco’s hair.  Good for Jane, and WTF Kaley????

        • kimmeister

It’s like Kaley was playing dress-up with silly wigs.  Yikes.

          • Celandine1

Um, wow, it looks like Kaley was auditioning for Pris in a Blade Runner Christmas special.

        • Celandine1

I concur with 100%. I especially loved that Jane tried something so different.

      • Cathy S

Totally agree. They both were gorgeous.

      • AutumnInNY

Couldn’t agree with you more. Both looked stunning, age appro, and make-up/hair beautiful.

    • Annabelle Archer

Marion was the Best Dressed of the entire event.  French as fuck and To Die!

Jane Lynch looks like she is subliminally auditioning for the lesbian production of 50 Shades of Grey.

      • Little_Olive

        Yes and yesyesyesyes!

    • crash1212

Jane Lynch = excellent. She looks great.

      • cooperalden

She does…yet I am still having “Exit to Eden” flashbacks.

    • Stella Zawistowski

Jane Lynch can be my mistress any time. I love this look on her!

    • eowyn_of_rohan

I thought Viola and Marion were the best of the whole night.  But damn, Amy Poehler really knocked it out of the park.  Somewhere Joe Biden is weeping for letting Leslie Knope get away…

      • Airkisses

I kept staring at that picture to figure out what she did and DO THAT. LOVE the dark green clutch.

      • shirab

So is Will Arnett, I hope. I miss them together!

    • Airkisses

I want to BE Marrion Cotillard. Flat out be her.

      • Jane Donuts

        Me too! French perfection.

    • OrigamiRose

“Looks a bit like she should be opening refrigerators on The Price is Right.”

I can’t wait to work this into conversation.  Bless you guys.

      • Heather

I got to watch The Price is Right when I was home sick from school, and wanted to be one of those girls when I grew up. I thought they were the epitome of beauty and glamor.

        • OrigamiRose

I don’t know how old you are, but I used to do the same thing, though when I was young, the girls really were such adult women with personalities and names.  I just imagine now they use interchangeable variations on the same under-25 face.

[I also love that your Y! av is the same as mine, head to toe, minus the kitty :) ]

    • Sarah

What the hell happened to Kaley Cuoco’s hair?!

      • Jeaniy02

It’s like a weird tiny helmet of hair sitting on top of her head…

      • Amy Wilson

I was just going to ask the same question. Is it just me or does that look like a really cheap wig?

        • WhiteOprah

Not just you- and for her sake I hope it is a cheap wig.

      • Rand Ortega

         Frankenhead. Terrible.

        • quiltrx

I thought this said “terrified”–which is what I was when I saw her head!  Way too scary and just ugly…from someone I think is so pretty in general.

      • MaryanneGirl

Girl, I just did a separate comment, but I have to comment on yours as well – WTF is going on there?! Why would you pick something that severe with a dress that girlie??

      • Heather

It’s like her hairstylist accidentally set the flat iron on 1200 degrees, or something.

      • Chelsea

Not just her hair but everything else. The length of that dress…the shoes….I just can’t. Color me confused.

    • ms_kat

Marion Cotillard looks amazing. And pockets. I’m very pro-pocket.

      • Pennymac

Pockets are BRILLIANT!!! according to Isaac Mizrahi. : )

    • Dominy Marveux-Garbeau

Sorry, but would someone kill Edie Falco’s stylist? She looks old, exhausted and cranky.

      • Nicole Sauvage

Word. I want to perform some sort of intervention with a brighter lipcolor and maybe some eyebrow pencil.

      • MaryanneGirl

Agreed, but have to say I’m really loving her as a brunette – don’t know if that’s for a role, but I really dig it. (dress & styling?  noooo.)

    • ms_kat

Also, Viola Davis, with her own hair, remains GORGEOUS.  The dress veers into titscrpency.

      • Chickadeep

Agree Ms. Davis looks divine with the natural hair. I don’t mind the dress — love the color on her.

Wait….is that Charlene Tilton (of original Dallas fame) next to her? How random.

        • eowyn_of_rohan

I’m pretty sure that’s Jacki Weaver from “Silver Linings Playbook” next to Viola.

          • foodycatAlicia

Yes – that’s Jacki Weaver. She really got her start in Australia’s new wave cinema of the 70s, so it always amuses me that people outside Australia don’t really know who she is.

      • Heather

She is SUCH a beautiful woman, but I think she could use a better bra here. Admittedly, strapless bras are a challenge – I’ve never found one that fits well or that I’m not constantly hiking up all night.

    • VicksieDo

Marion Cotillard WOW, it’s even more fabulous close up.  She wins the night for me.

      • foodycatAlicia

How tiny does that dress make her waist? Gorgeous.

    • Rand Ortega

Quick note: 1 of the CNN correspondents, Nischelle Turner, was wearing Kara Saun. Thoughts?

      • OrigamiRose

I wasn’t able to find a picture of this – what was the gown like?

        • Rand Ortega

        • Rand Ortega

Tried to send the twitter url but the post was moderated. Not sure if it’ll go through. Go to Nischelle Turner’s twitter page. There’s a picture posted.

          • OrigamiRose

Hmmmm the dress I found on Twitter wasn’t red but I’m like Carrie Bradshaw with an iPhone when it comes to Twitter – I really can’t figure that thing out.

            • Rand Ortega

There’s also a pic of her on getty images dot com. Type her name in the search.

            • OrigamiRose

              Ah, got it.  Many thanks.

Well… it’s okay from the bust up, I think.

          • alyce1213

Very Kara Saun at the neckline, but too much going on — lace, bow, pleating, layers, etc.

            • Rand Ortega

Exactly. Not very well executed, either.

            • victor liu

And how INSANE was that crotch?
              (Shameless PR jokes.)

        • Rand Ortega

           It’s a red dress.

    • Kim Brightman

Finally, Miss Viola!  (Although it might actually be Marion FTW.)

    • Zippypie

And there’s my winner – Marion Cotillard, who was sick but still brought it fierce.  Gorgeous from head to toe.

    • Elizabeth Silverstein

I was so hoping you would say something about Mayim Bialik – I feel like she totally finally wore something pretty and should get a pat on the back for putting in some effort.

As for those up for discussion – I think Marion looks amazing.

      • Airkisses

You’re right! Pretty standard dress but the color is lovely on her and we’re grading on a curve. It’s all about positive reinforcement :)

      • MaryanneGirl

I actually really loved that blue lace she wore!

      • Alloy Jane

I know!  Where is Amy Farrah Fowler?  I think maybe they just don’t want to be fussed with the many, rabid Mayim fans out there?  Her clothing is restricted due to religious beliefs, maybe they don’t want to step on that?  Anywho, I thought she looked nice and I really loved the blue on her.  She writes funny things about the red carpet experience too.

    • SugarSnap108

Good lord, Marion Cotillard puts the rest to shame.  (OK, some of the other ladies looked nice, but DAYUM she looks gorgeous here.)

    • MissMariRose

i can’t tell if Sofia Vergara has lost weight or if she’s just stopped wearing clothes that are too tight.

      • Airkisses

         My exact thoughts.

        • Quang Tran

She always tweeted about how the the sample-sized clothes they sent her didn’t fit, so I’d say she lost weight and is the same size as all the other Hollywood gals.

      • Ceur

Lost weight. I saw her on some talk show, she is really skinny.

    • AllForUSophia

      Kaley THE HAIR Cuoco!

      • Jane Donuts

She looks like a Chuckie doll.

    • patticake1601

Leah Michelle looks like she wore the dress lining on the outside. Marion Cotillard is simply stunning. Most beautiful dress I have ever seen, just gorgeous.

    • Depot'er

WHAT??? T’Lo let Kaley Cuoco get away with that makeup debacle? looks like she just snorted a long line at a pixie dust factory… the hair? holy mother of geeks…  and Ms Lynch’s outfit would make a wonderful ‘on Amazon Island, before she became Wonder Woman…” (was that the isle of lesbos?)

      • Sobaika

Her makeup artists must HATE her.

      • Alloy Jane

I LOVED Jane Lynch’s Wonder Woman gown.  I actually was thinking it was a Xena top, but I prefer your Amazon Island image.  And poor Kaley.  She’s so pretty when she’s Penny, what on earth does she think when she leaves the house???

    • kschwarting

I’m not sure I’m feeling the “of course” for Lea–it’s not slit up to there or ridiculously tight, but I just can’t with the ombre hair and the cheap (looking, since I’m sure it’s not) satiny fabric.

      • Kimbolina

I think the facial expression has a lot to do with the “of course” too.

    • Amanda Herriott Welliver

When I moved into my house I needed temporary curtains in a hurry so I bought about 20 yards of shiny white polyester clearance fabric at Wal-Mart for $1/yard.  It appears to be the same stuff used for Sofia Vergera’s dress.  (but my curtains weren’t as wrinkled.)

      • Call me Bee

I think they use that shiny white poly for cheapo bridal dresses as well, which is what Miss Sophia’s dress looked like.

    • imperfectlaura

I can’t with Lea Michele anymore.  The hair is just horrendous. On the other hand, I loved Viola, Marion, and Amy.

      • Airkisses

Apart from the posign, her dress looks cheap and pucker-y at the seams.

    • Pennymac

Kaley, honey, we need to talk. Everytime I see you, you look more and more like a cartoon character.

    • EEKstl

Marion Cotillard for the win, hands-down.  While I love Viola Davis’s look, great cut and color, she went a little too Southwest with the jewelry, and that dimmed it a bit for me.

    • Fyolette

the fabulous girl behind Kaleu Cuoco and her killer hair win this night.

    • GenieinTX

WTH with Kaley Cuoco’s hair?  That’s like a $5 wig or something.   But I sort of love the dress.  I love a retro A line.
But Lea Michelle’s dress looks like a homemade prom dress that my mom would sew for me in the 80s.  That’s horrible.

    • Sarah Guernsey

Can someone please tell these people to watch their tan lines? If you know you’re going to be wearing a strapless dress EVER, then please wear a strapless bathing suit. Halter top tan lines just look stupid with a strapless dress. GAH.

      • lrhg

Or since they’re all already paying makeup artists anyway, have them cover them.

    • Call me Bee

Marion and Viola FTW.  Both look stylish, relaxed and very chic.
Miss AMy P would be right up there, but she’s standing on her hem.   Major faw-paw, no?

    • Maureen

Viola and Marie are just plain elegant.  Everyone else is just trying too hard…or not enough (Edie Falco)!

    • Sarah Dickerson

WTF is going on with Kaley and that wig??

    • Nicole Sauvage

Kaley Cuoco’s hair looks Photoshopped. That’s illogical but that’s what I keep thinking.

    • lizlemonglasses

I cannot get over Marion. I think I am ready to declare that my favorite Red Carpet look OF ALL TIME. Or at least Of The 21st Century.

    • nannypoo

Marion Cotillard and Kiernan Shipka FTW.

    • Sobaika

I guess it’s not that notable to most, but that’s the best I can remember Jenna Fischer looking on the red carpet.

      • In_Stitches

My thoughts exactly!  She’s normally so plane-jane on the RC, but here she’s in a fabulous, interesting dress that flatters her shape and  her hair and makeup are done well.  She looks gorgeous.

Or, maybe I’m just skewed by how much she’s been killing it on The Office this season.

    • Tatiana Luján

I disagree with the off course you gave to Lea Michelle. Yes, she has the duck face on, but the dress is more sweet than sex on a stick.
And I kinda like Kaley Cuoco’s dress but the hair is awful. What is that, a $5 wig?

      • Marie Fessler

I was afraid I was the only one who liked that red dress (of Kaley’s) although the wig was a no.
And I also thought Lea M was not necessarily an “of course” this time. Just a prom dress.

    • lrhg

Jane Lynch is a personal best for me. She looks stunning.

LOVE Hyland’s dress. It reminds me vaguely of Mila Kunis’s red pattern McQueen (?) from a couple of years ago.

That fabric on Lea Michele looks like it would go up in .02 seconds if lit on fire.

    • Pamela

Looking at Jaimie Alexander, all I can see is Carol Burnett’s dress in “Real Gone With the Wind”.  It looks like she has a curtain rod on her shoulders.  (Forgot to mention in the last batch that Nicole Kidman’s hair was jacked up.)

    • Kathy Schrenk

The pregnant woman who actually does open refrigerators on “The Price is Right” dresses better then Busy Phillips.

    • Carla_Charlton

Out of all three posts, only Marion Cotillard looks really, really great, in my opinion, although I love the color on Alfre Woodard. And a mother of two, I can only say how uncomfortable Busy Philipps must be in that tight gown.

    • amaranth16

Marion is a vision, and Viola is gorgeous as always.  Everyone else was phoning it in.

    • marlie

I think this is the best Jane Lynch has looked in a long time. Love Viola Davis and Marion Cotillard. And what the F is wrong with Kaley Cuoco’s hair?

    • MaryanneGirl

I had a BREAK. DOWN. about Kaley Cuoco last night. WTF is going on there?! Her hair looks like a bad wig, and her dress makes her look like she’s 4 foot 9!  Honey, honey! Bad news bears all around!!

    • alyce1213

Marion Cotillard in Dior. Everything else is nonsense.
Busy Phillips may just as well have come naked, covered in paint.  It looks crass to me.

    • Cameron Turner

Marion is the winner of the entire evening… hands down……

    • allcapsERINN

GO, JANE LYNCH! That is FABULOUS! She looks confident and happy, and she’s bad-ass enough to pull off that edgy top. I almost cheered when I saw this picture – I’m so used to seeing her in “somebody forced me to wear this” Red Carpet attire.

    • Imasewsure

Loved Marion as usual, loved Viola in that gorgeous color and props to Ms Jane for the most improved!

    • Angelica Smith Mertens

Viola deserved at least an Atta Girl….Beautiful color on her, love her natural hair, the accessories are beautiful…loved the orange and gold with that teal….Here you go Viola…You get an ATTA GIRL!!! from me!  :)

      • MilaXX

Did you see Teyennah(sp?) from Mad Men?  OMG that was some beautiful natural hair. I love a twa like Viola wears, but I was happy to see natural hair glammed up like that.

        • Alloy Jane

Holy crap!  That IS some beautiful natural hair.  Hell, that’s just beautiful hair period.  I’m so happy, now I have an excellent example of how freaking amazing natural hair can look at a formal event.

          • MilaXX

I’ve been playing around with creating a loc version of that.

    • Allison Woods

Cotillard and Davis are WERKs imo.

    • Maya KC

Marion Cotillard looks gorgeous. And for her next red carpet appearance, I hope Jane Lynch shows up in full Xena and starts flinging sharp bits of metal at the paparazzi.

    • Amy

Aside from Marion, I have never been so bored by a red carpet! This isn’t just “meh, it’s the SAG”, this is insane! Why don’t the actors just throw pies in the faces of every producer/write/director of the show? That would be more humane than showing up looking like this.

    • Anniebet

Jessica Pare’s hair would be at home as one of the domes on a Russian Orthodox Church. All that lovely green color is wasted on a dress gone way wrong.

Marion Cotillard is again in goddess territory. Viola Davis is stunning.  Lea Michelle needs a last name and a new attitude. Sarah Hyland’s spray tanner must have gone into overtime working on her, but I like the fabric of her dress.

    • Rocío Vázquez

Busy Philipps looks like she is in a fat suit, that dress is so unflattering.

    • Antonia O’Connor Donnelly

Marion looks stunning, the color combo is gorgeous, and agreed Miss Shipka a close second.  Oh and props to Amy, probably the best I’ve ever seen her look.

    • Trisha26

Not a Marion fan but she looks gorgeous and I love her new hair. Clea looks very pretty. And thank you, TLo, for saying it about Busy so we don’t have to. OMG!

    • GorgeousThings

I just don’t get the Jenny Packham love. Her dresses make women look wi-i-i-i-ide. Jenna Fischer is probably a size 0, but here she looks broad and matronly.

And Kaley Cuoco – what the HELL did you do to your hair?!

      • Pennymac

IS that her hair? Cause it looks like a bad wig that’s too small and is sitting on top of her head.

    • Jessica Goldstein

The blonde woman standing behind Viola Davis. Is that Dallas’s Charlene Tilton?

    • Derek_anny

Jaime Alexander.  While scrolling down, the window stopped to show from about the knees up.  And I liked it.  Odd, but cool nevertheless.  Then I scrolled down and saw… whatever that is… at the bottom.  It was going so well, too.

    • unbornfawn

Loving a lot of the shades of blue and green I’m seeing on the red carpet. Love Jane Lynch’s bold dress. Leah Michele is striking the stick you leg out of the dress leg spral pose without the slit. What the hell with Kaley Cuolco’s hair?  Marion Cotillard beautiful.

    • mom2ab

Is it just me or does Sofia look a litte on the skinny side?   Maybe its just that the dress isn’t painted on but her body looks smaller and her head bigger than usual.

      • kimmeister

Her eyebrows look particularly bigger than usual!

    • muelonil

Oh sorry Lea Michelle….but my Cher doll wore that dress a little better, I think.

    • Jecca2244

Love Marion’s dress. love love love. I wish Jessica pare would stop doing that with her hair. Actually really like Sofia’s dress. But maybe in a color?

    • PhillipWilde

What the hell have they done to Kaley Cuoco’s hair?  Whoever was responsible for that ‘do should be put on trial for crimes against humanity.

    • quiltrx

Marion gets the win this round, with Viola nipping at her heels.  And I’m going to give Jane her props–that’s a very cool, edgy dress and it fits her really well.  I do always prefer silver accents on black (not wild about gold), but that’s a quibble with the designer, not her.

    • Jecca2244

Lea Michele’s Valentino dress (or a really similar version of it) is hanging in the boutique here in Boston and I wondered how it would look on someone. and now i’m hating that seaming at the bottom.

      • MilaXX

        Lea’s hair is awful.

    • Wellworn

That poor baby!  Busy Phillips should be arrested for child abuse, that poor kid is being smushed in that dress.

    • MilaXX

Favs: Amy Poehler, Marion Coutard & Viola Davis.

    • kikisayshi

Amy Pohler is stunning. Poor Jaimie Alexander looks like she’s been cut into pieces by a magician. Viola Davis = fabulous.

    • MsMajestyk

Kaley Cuoco’s hair is a longer version of Pris from Blade Runner.  Better watch out or else she’ll strangle you with her legs.

    • MsMajestyk

Kaley Cuoco’s hair is a longer version of Pris from Blade Runner.  Better watch out or else she’ll strangle you with her legs.

    • MzzPants

Shazaam!  Jane Lynch really stepped out this time!

    • subwaycars

I thought Clea was Hilary Swank, holy shit.

      Marion’s dress was stunning.

    • Sara Munoz Munoz

OMGGGGGGGGGG Kaley Cuoco. What is wrong with you? Next time Christina Aguilera’s stylist calls, you hang up the phone. Then change your number.

    • Wendi126

Jane Lynch is serving up some Helga the Horrible realness

    • MinAgain

Marion Cotillard was my best of the night, but I salute Viola for wearing such a gorgeous, flattering color in a sea of boring black, white, and dark blue.

    • shayna61

Jane Lynch should have been in a WERQ post all by herself. Absolutely breathtaking, from the hair and makeup to the accessories, every detail about this look is perfection. I think that dress is HOT! HOT! HOT! Gorgeous AND flattering.

    • wonderdivaEtsy

I love Marion Cotillard, so I’m biased, but that dress is stunning and I love the shoes.

I thought Sarah Hyland was Denise Richards for a moment.

    • e jerry powell

Viola Davis FTW.  She gets all 100 of my points.

    • ccm800

    • formerlyAnon

You saved most of the best ones for this batch, didn’t you?

Ms. Busy Philipps didn’t try that dress on in strong enough overhead light for shadows to be thrown. Or maybe hadn’t tried it on at all during one of those three week periods where the baby bump has a growth spurt? Either way, still no excuse.

I hope your book will treat the question of why is it *so hard* for even professionally attractive women with professional stylists, hairdressers and makeup artists – not to mention assistants and probably  a tax-deductible budget for public appearances and events in addition to loaned clothing and accessories – to really get it right?  I totally get the string of “just fines” – one can’t hit it out of the park all the time. But why are there so many instances of “what was she thinking?”

Jane Lynch’s hair and makeup are great! She’s looks really pretty.

    • kerryev

Is that the beautiful Revenge guy behind Melissa Rauch?

    • julesj

What’s with Eddie Falco?? She looks like she just got done cleaning her house and threw on a dress. Terrible, and she usually looks good.

      • throwaneyeonthis

        I wondered the same thing.

this is the only angle that cotillard looked good at. every other image showed this dress erased her figure and just sort of dragged her down the carpet. i love the colors though.

Kaley Cuoco….who are you, and what is that THING on top of your head?!?!

      • kimmeister

She stars in The Big Bang Theory.

      • Dot

Is that a wig? It looks awfully helmet-y.

    • DesertDweller79

Marion Cotillard looks fabulous!  She’s my favorite of the night.  Viola Davis also looks beautiful.  Amy Poehler looks great, too.

I quite like the shape of that dress Sofia Vergara is wearing.  It is so nice to see her out of her style rut. This style makes her look like she has a completely different body type.  Wow.

I think I am gay for Marion Cotillard. Can’t stop staring at her. What a beauty, in what a dress!

    • Ceur

Sarah Hyland’s hair is a disaster. Not as bad as Kaley Cuoco, obviously, but still. That’s how us kids without hairdressers looked 10 years ago, she can do so much better.

    • Rain Jezek

Jesus, I thought Jaimie Alexander’s head was on backwards.

    • CarolinLA

Edie Falco and Nicole Kidman look like they’re wearing basically the same dress.

    • baxterbaby

Marion didn’t get a gasp from me , but rather the long sigh of “how lovely”.

    • decormaven

Quick! Rescue Marion C, Amy P, and Viola D from this Island of Misfit Toys! Two observations: Kelly Cuoco, with that hair, could audition for any Styx tribute band. And while I wasn’t a fan of her dress, Jane Lynch looked especially pretty.

    • mshesterp

      Ha!  Definitely barbie-like.

    • bluefish

Marion looks incredible in that Dior.  Really divine.  And brava to Viola Davis.  Beautiful.

    • thundersnow528

Is that Clea DuVall or Michelle Forbes?  I can’t tell….

    • sarahmichelef

I can’t look at the 12″ hem ruffle on Lea Michele’s dress and not think “1980s prom”, even if it is Valentino.

      • Marie Fessler

I HAD that dress, but with long sleeves, for my, er.., prior to 1980s winter prom!

    • Susi R

Marion’s dress is so beautiful!! Love it!

    • Le_Sigh

Gawd – that Busy Philips – if she’s gunning for the feature film role of the Queen of Versailles, she just nailed it.  Ugh.

      Viola Davis is divine.

    • Clydette Wantland

Ha ha, Christmas ornament!!  Good one.

    • Ann Martina

The juxtaposition of Marion Cotillard under Leah Michelle is pretty great.  Marion is just ethereally beautiful, while Leah Michelle is duck lips wearing a polyester dust ruffle, and her hair just makes me feel rageful.

    • mmc2315

Viola, thank you for rocking the bright color & natural hair!

    • Slowlysarcastic

I think Jane Lynch looks amazing.  Her hair and makeup look better than I’ve ever seen on her.  I also love that she went for it with the dress.

    • mhleta

Jane Lynch!! She’s really discovered her beauty. When I saw her on screen I was BLOWN away. Marion Cotillard takes it, though. Perfect from head to toe and that color never fails to thrill. Kaley Cuoco comes in last. What happened here? Her hair looks like a “Sexy Nurse” Halloween wig.

    • SapphoPoet

      Viola Davis FTW.

    • JaCory Deon

Marion Cotillard and Viola Davis for the win, the rest “better luck next year.”

    • Shawn EH

That is the best picture I’ve seen yet of Sofia’s weird dress. Marion FTW for me!

    • kristinanoel

That color on Ms Davis is amazing, but can’t she work on her posture? It would really help the dress!
I also love her natural hair, but I like it even better when it’s shorter, as it was last year in the LA times photo shoot:

    • libraangel

ONLY one worth commenting about and I anoint her the winner of ALL the awards shows: Marion Cotillard for the win! Chic, elegant, beautiful! Others yawn-ZZZZZZZ!
p.s T&L’s boldness description of Jane’s dress can add “boldness a la dominatrix”!

    • Stephany M.

Marion Cotillard is so damn gorgeous!!! That dress is beautiful and her eyes look striking with that color <3

    • amyfromnj

Bergenfield High School Prom 2009 was more interesting than this bunch.
