Pretty dress, and I can see why she replaced the belt from the runway version, but the belt she is wearing doesn’t fit her properly. I also don’t like those shoes with it. It’s all a bit Enchantment Under The Sea dance.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=840088738 Sarah Guernsey

Yes!!! Enchantment Under the Sea…with Michael J Fox Jr Jr in attendance last night

      • judybrowni

Oddly enough, Enchantment Under the Sea was actually the theme of our 9th grade dance in 1963…

        For gawd knows what reason.

  • aristida_girl

    Adorable! Love the shoes..

  • http://www.facebook.com/madgeylou Megan Dietz

love the dress, loathe the shoes. at least with this dress. if you’re going to wear something so fantastically retro, you should carry it through, i think …

    • kschwarting

I completely agree, and would also like to give her face a good powdering.

  • Sobaika

Pretty dress and nice color on her, but she looks terrible. It hits her at the wrong length (and she’s pretty tall, too) and her heels are atrocious. Ballerina bun isn’t saving this one.

  • MilaXX

fail. The dress is swallowing her, the shoes fight the dress and her face is shiney.

  • Sobaika

Pretty dress and nice color on her, but she looks terrible. It hits her at the wrong length (and she’s pretty tall, too) and her heels are atrocious. Ballerina bun isn’t saving this one.

  • Lily-Rygh

I agree that silver metallic was a way better shoe option than the matchy shoes in the runway pic, but these are a bit too busy for that dress.  And too bad about the belt, because this might have been a cute look.

Also, a little powder goes a long way, gurl.

  • mjude

the shoes just wreck it for me.

    • ankali

Completely agree. Should have gone with a tighter belt, too. What the hell, Nina?

  • meebs

I am absolutely confused looking at this. Hate the shoes with this and hate the belt period.

  • nannypoo

She looks like a ballerina, and not in a good way.

  • Judy_J

The shoes are fighting with the dress.

  • kimmeister

Not her dress, even though it’s very cute, because she’s not tall enough for it and you can’t really hem it.

The ill-placed belt and the terrible shoe choice really hit the nail on the coffin though.

  • E. D.

    Hate that belt.

  • procrastinatrice

The shoes are atrocious, and the dress is pretty, but it doesn’t look good on her. I am guessing it’s a height issue…the hem is too long for her. The hair and make up look DIY. Sorry but can’t find one thing to like here.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Just NO. This is beautiful on the red carpet, but it doesn’t translate well to the real world. I think she should have kept the belt from the runway, and/or worn one that fit better. It’s also too long on Nina. And those shoes need to be burned. Not only do they not go with the dress, but they also look cheap and tacky.

  • http://twitter.com/wendylogic Wendy

….the length of the dress too long – belt is ill-fitting and hap hazard and the shoes are fighting a losing battle and look like an after thought …..   this could have been sweet…..

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

Love the dress, hate the shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

Very pretty dress, but why she is wearing a belt that doesn’t fit?

  • victoria rodeno

    Face is way to shiny.

  • Zippypie

That belt and the overdone sandals kill the whole look.  This is a case of either keeping the runway styling or going for something that is fitted and simple like the runway styling.

And haven’t any of these young starlets heard of blotting paper??!

    • Stubenville

Agreed to all. Too bad because it’s a pretty dress in a flattering color.

  • nkauj thao

I usually love what Nina wears but not this one.  Looks much better on the model.  Looks like it may be a size too big for her.

  • http://twitter.com/mirrormirrorxx Paola Thomas

Has anyone ever seen her and Emmanuelle Chriqui (from Entourage) in the same room?  They are the same person aren’t they?

  • siriuslover

Probably the best use of that color last night…at least from the three I’ve seen. Hate the shoes though.

  • jw_ny

It’s an impossible dress to shorten with that lace hemline, and with this being too long on her, she should have just passed it by.  It may have been nice on her if she could have taken a few, or more, inches off.  Her makeup is pretty, but I really dislike her shoes and belt.

    • BrooklynBomber

Isn’t the hemline cut? That’s what it looks (I think). And then the underskirt could be hemmed.
But either way, those shoes are killing me.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

It looks like someone already tried to shorten the dress … badly.  This type of lace material is really easy to shorten .. you just cut around the motifs and hem the underskirt.  The close-up of the hem looks like someone whacked parts of it off with scissors .. it would never have come from the designer with the lace motifs hacked straight across the middle as they are.

      • jw_ny

yes…it was hacked! like you said…badly.

  • Trisha26

Shoes are way to busy for that fabric. But the runway look with matching shoes is very bridesmaid.

  • decormaven

Why is the belt so loose? Why select a pair of shoes that almost reach the hem of the dress? Cute frock, but the stylist missed on the details here.

  • marilyn

Yikes.  Good dress, bad shoes, bad belt.  I think the belt on the runway model was better looking.  The blue streaks in the model’s hair was a wink to the 1960′s costumey aspect of the dress.  This was too much dress for Nina.  Also, the lining in the top was rather distracting.  This was not the right dress for her.  The shoes were horrific with this.

  • kmk05

…that hair, really?? I think NOT!

  • Noelle Haland

Pretty dress, wrong shoes for the outfit, and the belt would be great if it weren’t so dang slouchy.

  • peachy

the dress is okay-ish, but the belt, hair, shoes, makeup, and lack of jewelry … well, let’s just say it didn’t raise the fashion bar.

  • librarygrrl64

    “What would Carrie Bradshaw wear?”

  • Imasewsure

That is a HBC picnic dress and the shoes are awful with it. Still she looks pretty whoever she is… hate the hair

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

    I like the material, but…
    isn’t it winter in L.A.?

    It’s a spring/summer dress.

  • http://twitter.com/yessveee Sarah V.

I swear, she fashioned that dress from my grandmother’s shower curtain circa 1979.

  • j_anson

NO. Classic case of “the dress is wearing her.”

  • Jecca2244

an oddly “off” look for her. She has beautiful hair and think maybe needed to wear it down.

  • Warrior89

this is just so “what???????’ to me.  Hate the hair, dress is kinda twee/cute, shoes are galactic, the belt is Jetsons….I’m perplexed.

  • Pennymac

GAH! So many things are wrong here. Did she hack at the hem with a pair of dull scissors in the limo ride over?

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Princess hair, belt doesn’t fit and the shoes are completely wrong. But with that face, everything looks cute on this girl.

  • Ruth Preston

The dress, though it’s lovely, looks like it’s wearing her…and the shoes are a tragic slinky jelly fail.

  • enchanted216

    Ew.  Ew.  And Ew.

  • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

Hair and face are GORGE, but I still really can’t make up my mind about the dress.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

Dress is pretty but the too-busy shoes clash & so does the prom hair.

  • SewingSiren

This, I think , is my favorite look of the night.

  • quiltrx

Kind of a cute dress, but the shoes are a bizarre choice.  The hair gives a tweeness to this that I don’t care for.  And powder your face!

And I HATE the ragged hem.  Complete with threads hanging off and unevenness (that has complete disregard for the lace’s pattern), it looks like she hacked at it in the limo with a pair of school safety scissors.

  • plinkiedoodle

Too much going on here.  Either the dress or the shoes.  Choose.  You can’t have both.

  • DesertDweller79

The dress looks beautiful on the model and terrible on her.  The length isn’t right and the belt is horrible.  And I hate those shoes with this dress.

  • Frank Lithium

Looking a bit too juvenile here.

  • OrigamiRose

I can’t help it.  I love the dress **and** the shoes.

  • bluefish

Awful from head to toe.  Tacky.

  • thecitysleeps

Love the dress and the hair.  Hate the make up (too shiny),  the belt (doesn’t fit properly) and the shoes (too fussy, I’d have preferred pointy stilettos for this one).

  • poggi

I love the shoes too.  They even fit too.  I would have built an outfit around them, not this dress but something shorter and with less texture.

  • TAGinMO

Shoes might be a bit too complicated with the dress, but I like the look overall.

  • neofashionista

    wrong season

  • mhleta

Ye GODS, those shoes are murdering what might otherwise be a really great dress. And the belt, no to that as well. Pair those shoes and belt with a nice LBD and then we’ve got something.

  • http://twitter.com/MarfMom Maya

the shoes! my eyes are burning! they’re not bad in and of themselves, but for this outfit: no way! the belt is out too.

  • warnerave

    it’s a bridemaid’s dress..and the shoes are a bit too much to take…

  • Tatiana Luján

the belt is big in her and the shoes are too busy for the lenght  of the dress.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=14301272 Kate Gorton

Hem’s too long and those shoes are distracting.

  • http://www.facebook.com/darva.sutra Darva Sutra

Fit and styling are a complete out, the dress was an IN… it needed to be hemmed or PROFESSIONALLY altered.  Whoever did the blunt scissors chop job on this, I am coming after you with my scissors.  And those bitches are SHARP!  Seriously, who does this to a multi-thousand dollar designer dress?!?
