Somehow, the slashed-by-a-tiger look works for her.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

She looks like the love child of Milla Jovovich and Vera Farmiga.  Which is a compliment in my book.

    • Rebecca Berger

       And Robert Kennedy!

    • Kristin McNamara

OMG that is the PERFECT combination that she represents. You’re right!

  • Ugh. I can’t. It looks like she’s been knifed several times, and the wounds healed with sequins instead of scabs.

    • DeborahJozayt

Her velociraptor got in the glitter box again.

  • pakapaka

good for her. i don’t care if it fits slightly strangely (and, frankly, is slightly strange in general). she spends all her screen time looking surly in puffy jackets. i’d want to channel some old school glam, too.

  • Hmm… there’s something aging about this look despite the slashed gown… I think it’s the hair.

    • mshesterp

I think it’s the makeup.  It’s too heavy.  But I like the rest of it (except the clutch…it looks like a can of soda.  What a hassle to carry!)

      • 3boysful

         Maybe it’s concealing a can of soda . . .or a beer.

        • Jessica Vann

It looks like a bedazzled roll of toilet paper.

  • That bag looks like it would be really annoying to hold all night. I feel like a lot of celebrities don’t get what’s great about wearing white dresses. They’re great because anything with slight contrast that you wear with it will really pop out and be dramatic while still looking elegant. If all of your accessories and styling match or are bland, then the whole thing will look washed-out. When every accessory is just another white or silver sparkle it takes a neat dress and makes it boring bordering on tacky. A different bag and a ring that wasn’t fighting with the dress would have made all the difference in the world.

    • suzq

It looks like a beer can.

  • jonnyf8

Like Jessica Chastain, except interesting . . . has anyone seen them in the same room at the same time?

  • everest19

I don’t understand why actresses feel the need to wear dresses with crazy slashes and glitter and shit glued on. What’s wrong with a simple white dress? Would be so much more striking… Anyways, cut off the bottom and this looks like pure figure skating attire.

  • Dan_In_NYC

She looks like a well-used (though glamorous) ice rink.

  • BrooklynBomber

I don’t know who she is, but that dress has gotta go.

    • MilaXX

That’s because she not wearing a sweater in the rain. She was the detective in the US version of The Killing.

      • BrooklynBomber

Oh, thanks. I didn’t see that.

  • Sobaika

    STRIKING. I dig it.

  • another_laura

I like it!  Although as usual I have quibbles:  it’s too long because they just won’t get fittings.  The box/bag is adorable and I don’t care whether it’s practical.

  • Hate the stiff-yet frizzy hair, and really hate the dress. Looks like she was attacked by a maniac wielding a malfunctioning be-dazzler.

  • crash1212

I pretty much love all of this except for the hair. What’s up with that hair? Did she get it cut? Did it get pinned up the way ladies with long hair sometimes do to make it look shorter but not an updo? It’s odd and not very flattering. Ring and clutch are to die.

  • Judy_J

No sir, I don’t like it.

  • filmcricket

She’s like Gillian Anderson: another pale strawberry-blonde who insists on wearing colours that wash her out. Jewel tones are your friend, love.

  • Kristy Evans

The dress is stunning. The clutch on the other hand, is just weird.

  • therealkuri

I’m kind of loving her “on the verge of rolling eyes” facial expressions. Would prefer softer hair and make-up but digging the dress.

  • MilaXX

I don’t know why but this isn’t setting my world on fire. Love the bag, but I think the blush should be toned down and the lips played up a bit more. She’s going for old school glam, so why not a bold, red lip?

  • l_c_ann

All that detailed hand work surrounding the slits with ?see through net.  All that work should have gone to make something knockout beautiful.  Even the colors in it….to my eyes, it wasted and that’s darned near criminal given what it might be.

  • DaringMiss

She looks like a sister-wife that fended off an amorous suitor.  (Big Love)

If it were in dark green  or a deep royal blue, she would look lovely.

  • MoHub

    No. More. Illusion. Netting.

  • It looks like it was slashed in a way that only looks good on the model. She should have gotten the coat too.

  • Wow, who is this woman who is serving up some serious Penelope Anne Miller clone action and carrying a blingy thermos?

  • kimmeister

That first closeup?  She should avoid being photographed from that angle.  It’s giving her crazy eyes.

  • Imasewsure

I think it’s a fun look for this Premier even if the hair and makeup are a little harsh… Don’t think it’s necessarily aging (she’s 37) but it’s not falsely youthful either which I kind of appreciate. Love the ring and clutch with this

  • ThaliaMenninger

I like the dress, but it looks too big (or at least too long in the arms and on the floor). And her purse looks like the container of cotton balls from some fancy lady’s vanity. Weird shape.

  • marilyn

    Nice dress.  Nice evening look.

  • teensmom99

Oh no, Mireille Enos got swallowed up by a beautiful, sleek Pucci dress and had to slash holes in it to get herself out.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

she escaped an encounter with a very gay dragon.

  • I really don’t like where that top slash hits her. I also feel like it’s a GOOP dress repurposed for Halloween. Wouldn’t it be a great White Witch costume?

  • Trisha26

  • The clutch looks like a sparkly roll of toilet paper.

  • Lily-Rygh

Looks like she got slashed by Edward in the sunshine, which explains all the sparkle…

(I think somebody should start a band called Edward in the Sunshine.  Somebody very gay.)

  • TSkot

    Needs the coat.

  • quiltrx

I’m not wild about the neckline, but otherwise this is a pretty cool ‘grande dame of Old Hollywood’ gown.

  • Lilak

She doesn’t have enough shape for this dress.

Snake-hips OK for catwalk moddles, since the exaggerated walk fools the eye — but even Donaldson has an hourglass going on compared to Enos.

(Nothing wrong with Enos’s shape, mind you … I just don’t think this style flatters this body type.)

  • It looks like a figure skating costume. I can’t not think “Blades of Glory.”

  • Frank Lithium

No finger snaps, but pretty close to it.

  • This is the best that she’s looked on the red carpet in a long time. I’m not in love with the look, but it works.

  • librarygrrl64

She has a great figure and height for that gown. Good accessories, and I like her hair.

  • She looks like she was attacked by a mugger and is bleeding glitter.

Love the dress, she wears it well.  But why is she carrying a bedazzled beercan on the red carpet?

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Very elegant and pretty, but she sure hates being on the step and repeat. You can see it in her eyes!

  • MarissaLG

Really beautiful. I would have loved to see it with the coat too!

  • annrr

Great dress, altho I think I’d like it better if only the left arm was slashed. She looks good but I think a curvy dark skinned woman like Iman would KILL it.

  • Chic.

  • TAGinMO

Why is she holding a coffee mug??

  • warnerave

    great dress..but i think, it’s NOT her dress…

  • guest2visits

Wish I could say I liked this dress; but the slashes are cheap looking to me. I’m sure I’d love it with only the beadwork splashed
artfully across the dress and sleeves.  And she needs that exotic white coat!

  • suzq

She’s trying to go for “40’s noir with an edge” and I think she nearly pulls it off.  The hair is perfect from most angles, except straight on, where she’s got some weird fly-away.  Boy can I relate to that…   I think the dress is just a tad too long, but that’s just me, and the fit is off ever so slightly.  It doesn’t drape quite the way a classic bias-cut dress would.  Perhaps the bedazzled slashes weigh it down in all the wrong places.

  • You WERQ it, Girl! Nice to see glamour at a premiere.

  • That excuse for a clutch looks like a pencil holder.

  • bd73

much prefer her golden globes look from last year. i get the period glamour vibe she’s going for. having just seen the movie, she looks much better in it as a housewife of the late ’40s. she is just so gorgeous.

  • ccm800

If you’re so short the last gash nearly hits the floor…the rest of the shape is not going to work either. And leave the paint sample at Lowes dear.
