Matt Bomer in Alton Lane

Posted on January 23, 2013

Darlings, here’s your Pretty of the Day. If you’re in work right now, please try not to sigh or moan too loudly.

Matthew Bomer attends The Creative Coalition: Night Before Dinner in Washington, D.C. in Alton Lane.

Y’know, it’s about time we gave the man some props. We’re always so distracted by his looks that we fail to give him the praise he deserves for being so damn impeccable 98% of the time. This is a guy who could easily rest on his genes and “pull a Jolie;” meaning he could get away with practically no effort at all just because of the way he looks. But no, here he is once again in a beautiful suit paired with a beautiful tie, shirt, and pair of shoes.

Suggestions, though, O Your Perfection-ness? One: that hair is insanely high. Two: you need to have a heart-to-heart with your makeup people because whatever’s going on your face for public appearances is just a bit too pale-making. Not that we think you should slather on the tanner; just that we think whatever they’re using is a shade lighter than your own skin.

But man, does he look fantastic or what?

      I’m going to copy you:
Y’know…I like the “high hair”. It’s just kooky enough to add some realism to the perfection.

      • https://twitter.com/Gayer_Than_Thou Gayer Than Thou

High hair + fivehead is the only thing I can find wrong with this man.

    • formerlyAnon

A well-dressed man, indeed. There isn’t a rule, though, against brown shoes with a grey suit?

Heck, I am very, very fond of grey pinstriped suits, so I don’t care.

Someone does need to have a quiet chat with him about the hair, though.

      • StellaZafella

Why a quiet word? Just walk over and run their hands through it…and then giggle and sigh for us all.

        • formerlyAnon

The direct approach could work, I guess. If only you could take the job on yourself!

        • lovelyivy

           Yes! I volunteer!

      • Deac82

I love a good grey/brown combo, so I vote firmly in the “it works” category.  Then again, I think that I own that exact pair of shoes and I wear them with practically everything: jeans, blue suits, brown suits, grey, khaki slacks.

        • formerlyAnon

There are just so many things for which I was taught hard and fast rules that just aren’t so anymore, that I can’t keep up!

Plus, there are rules that don’t apply to experts.

        • fursa_saida

Meh, those things are all neutrals. Putting neutrals together is hard to screw up too badly (though it can be done). This is why I’ve never seen anything wrong with gray and brown, black and blue, etc.

        • Jennifer L.

Ooh, what shoes are they? The hubby would love them.

      • out for a walk

I might be very confused, but I actually thought that brown shoes were the standard choice for a grey suit.

        • Jecca2244

Not that he is a total style guru, but my fiance does the grey suit and brown shoe a lot. He’s a lawyer but reads a fair amount of GQ lol.

      • TRSTL

Brown shoes with gray is a fantastic look.  I have always preferred brown with gray of black with gray’ it’s a warmer, richer look to me.

      • formerlyAnon

Thanks for bothering to reply, all. Consensus is that grey + brown is o.k. and my dusty or mistaken “rule” need not apply. Now I just have to pay attention to how to do it. (that is, which greys with which browns).

        • sweetestsith

Warm greys look great with moderately cool tan/brown shoes, but really cool browns (imho) need black (or cheeky blue) shoes.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lara-Lutrick/1222052998 Lara Lutrick

Oh my he is yummy. I love a well put together man.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=678337501 Carla Axtman

He’s so pretty that he makes me weak in the pixels.

      • Kristin McNamara

And in case any of the BKs hadn’t seen it yet….. our man here makes an appearance as an ex-boyfriend of a character in “The New Normal” Season 1 Episode 12. And he’s shirtless. And sweaty. In almost every scene he’s in.
        ETA: There’s also a hanging-upside-down situps situation. Where he’s wearing short-shorts.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

I don’t think I could handle that right now.

          • http://twitter.com/themissingmink Mink Carlyle

Worth trying to find out though, no?

        • misstressofsylar

thanks for the tip. just done downloading that episode. i’ll be in my room, in case anyone asks :D

          • Kristin McNamara

HAHA! I love it. And you’re welcome!

            • misstressofsylar

so i just watched it. and there’s this line:
“I’m sure people tell you this all the time but you are very good looking. And yes, I know you’re gay. My point is, this is a very confusing moment for me.”

            • Kristin McNamara

              RIGHT?! hahaha

    • http://twitter.com/thehilariest The Hilariest

Love the shades of purple with the grey. Not a big fan of the shoes, however. But still – dreamy sighs abound.

    • http://www.facebook.com/fiddlecub Kevin VanOrd

I’m sorry, what? I was too busy gazing into Matt’s gorgeous eyes to pay any notice of his hair. Once I stop swooning, I might be able to appreciate those wonderful shoes and that great purple tie. But the swoon continues unabated.

    • hughman

“The hair is fabulous, sweetie. Don’t change a thing” – Patsy Stone

    • Jennelle Soikkeli

Involuntary sigh just slipped out… he is suited man perfection:)  Not loving the brown shoes though..

    • Nicholas

Maybe he thought the hair was cool, after Chris Colfer did it. As someone with receding hairline and very high temples, I don’t think high hair for the two is the way to go.

Unless you’re the lanky lead singer in a rock band, maybe.

    • sablehunter

The hair just looks like bed head, which is perfectly fine with me.

      • terpsichory

Either you mean “hollywood bed head” (that elusive, ephemeral construct, carefully touseled for maximum sex appeal)
or you have the best hair ever and I envy you.

      • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I was thinking more There’s Something About Mary, actually. Anything he does is fine with me but the hair could be better.

    • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

This is just so perfect that I have nothing to say other than that this is just so perfect.

    • http://twitter.com/carelessriver Caterina Maria

He not only looks fantastic, by all accounts he IS fantastic. So there’s that air of “I’m a decent person” about him to make him prettier.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=805505 Steph Foster

I was at work when I saw this. And I came. Hard.

      • formerlyAnon

Gosh. I envy your endocrine system. ;)

    • TAGinMO

A gorgeous man in a gorgeous ensemble. What more is there to say?

    • StellaZafella

Catarina Maria: Sort of like when Tom Hanks was a boy. You’re probably too young to remember the 70′s, but Hanks was a stunner in his youth and yet, it was his reputation as a good guy that made him swoon-worthy…Matt B seems to be carrying that into his own tradition.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_U5LTVYHX32MGMMXR33G7TOXVR4 Magdalena Monzerrat Ontiveros

I would like to be his gay….

    • cmb92191

Anytime I see someone with that type of hairstyle – I think of Morrissey

      • procrastinatrice

Yes! That might explain why I kinda dug Matt’s high hair! I adore Morrissey.

      • kimmeister

He is human and needs to be loved . . .

    • Louise Bryan

      *sigh*  (that is all)

    • Nazzzy

      Meh, does nothing for me.

      • Kristin McNamara

        YOU BITE YOUR TONGUE.
HOW DARE YOU SPEAK ILL OF MATTHEW IN THIS, A HOUSE FULL OF HIS WORSHIPPERS!?!?

      • http://www.facebook.com/beccalise.deveaux ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

        Me neither, haha.

      • formerlyAnon

Honestly, me neither,  in “that” way. Too catalog model attractive. BUT I do swoon at how he dresses. It’s – it’s – it’s – just so RIGHT.

    • girliecue

The prettiness that is Matt Bomer can’t possibly be expressed in a day. He is at least the Pretty of The Next Two Weeks. Even with high hair.

    • prettybigkitty

      And the pocket square!  Perfection.

    • CeeQ

Best thing I’ve seen today, thanks!!
Excellent deployment of the sometimes tricky brown shoe.
Will be using the office printer to print out colour copies to accidentally on purpose leave on Le Hubby’s desk.
A gal has to give her man SOME clues, amirite?

      • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I’ve been having a version of this battle. My husband WANTS brown shoes, but I won’t let him get them unless he also gets a brown belt.

    • http://twitter.com/obscureobjects David Calder

I actually did moan. I’m not proud of it, but there it is.

    • sleepycat

Now to get my hair to do that.

    • http://www.facebook.com/AntoniaDonnelly Antonia O’Connor Donnelly

Perfection, except for the hair, as usual.

    • PastryGoddess

Thank goodness I work from home

The cats are still in hiding though

    • Annabelle Archer

I can’t with the There’ s Something About Matty hair.

    • http://twitter.com/Moondragonic Charlotte

I can’t decide what’s prettiest, him or the suit.

    • Linderella

He is so beautiful it hurts.  Add to that a sense of style and amazing high-hair and I am looking at the man of my dreams.  Not sure I’ve ever read an interview with him:  if he’s smart on top of all that, my head might just explode.

      • http://twitter.com/themissingmink Mink Carlyle

He’s smart and articulate and funny and sweet-without-being-cloying. Say goodbye to your head.

        • Linderella

          Kaboom and splat.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mary-Elizabeth-Poytinger-Baumer/1516981341 Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

le sigh. you can end every day with him, i dont care. yummo. the men get all the good boys…

    • terpsichory

I remember when I was watching the first season of White Collar, I was so distracted by his beauty that I had to stop the episodes (repeatedly) just to stare at his face to get it out of my system.

Haven’t been successful, though. I still have to stare.

      • MilaXX

Honestly, I only started watching White Collar was because the cute guy who played Bryce Larkin  on Chuck was in it.

      • misstressofsylar

and I was first in line to watch Magic Mike because of him. Only to be disappointed that his exposure on that film was very limited.

        • terpsichory

Yeah, I stuck to gifs for that one. I did watch the first fifteen minutes of In Time, though. Curiously, I wasn’t interested in the rest of the movie.

      • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I had the same reaction.  The only other time that ever happened was with Tom Wellling during the first three seasons of “Smallville”.  The camera would zoom in for a close-up on Tom’s face, and it would literally take my breath away.

    • BuffaloBarbara

For a man who claims to be a blue-jeans type, he can certainly work a suit.  Or many vintage suits given to him by Diahann Carroll, as  he does in White Collar, when he’s not shirtless (which is also a highly valid fashion lifestyle choice).  He seems to be a guy who’s at least putting on a show of liking to dress up.  And why shouldn’t he?  Dressing up is fun, and he now has occasions where he doesn’t look silly doing it.

I don’t mind the high hair too much, but I like it better a little looser.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

      In-SANN-ly hot!

    • Kate4queen

      Lovely :) Thank you. :)

    • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

      I can’t … he’s too beautiful.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

This man reminds me that I really should have a bumper sticker on my car that reads:  “I brake for blue eyes”….sigh.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

He has beautiful, thick hair, so I think he’s showing off a bit with the quasi-pompadour. It has been my fond hope that Matty will single-handedly resurrect the tie bar and the trilby as masculine fashion statements.

      • formerlyAnon

         The tie bar!

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

      I do wish he’d shave.

    • PaulaBerman

Actually, it looks like he is paler than the makeup he is wearing, which is more orange than his skin tone.
ETA: However, the man underneath the slightly bad makeup job is PERFECTION. Sigh.

    • j_anson

      *swoon*

    • Vlasta Bubinka

      Dear Matt Bomer,
I hear you’re “Family.” GReat. I’m still gonna lust you; it is not like we’ll ever meet for it to matter. You’re a fine lookin’ sample of testosterone-ness, and I appreciate that.  BUT, MaMaBo, just ’cause your hair is closer to heaven, you are not necessarily closer to perfect manhood. The gel, schatzi? It wounds.
I still love you though. Kisses.

    • http://twitter.com/commish24 commish24

He’s trying to rock Matt Smith hair. And only Matt Smith can rock Matt Smith hair.

    • quiltrx

Man hair can never be too high for me!

    • MilaXX

Please don’t ruin the pretty by doing weird things to your hair. Redmayne-itus is not a good look.q

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

      {Swoon.}

    • jw_ny

Is this not a werq because of his skin tone and high hair?…pretty much perfect imo.   Great suit, I mean, really great…love the tie & pocket square.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

Instructions not clear enough, moaned too loudly at work, now I have a meeting with HR to discuss inappropriate noises.

    • PrunellaV

I don’t know, that looks like fooling-around-in-the-limo hair to me.

      • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

And I just went to a very happy place.  Thank you.

    • Imasewsure

He looks amazing but he is also one of those guys who never looks swarmy… He knows how to look gorgeous and elegant but still approachable (not that I could ever manage a sentence looking at him)….oh ya and I love the suit

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Loves the stripes and the pocket square, hair could be a little lower.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bob-Sponge/100000465550991 Bob Sponge

Matt, please don’t stare at me like that. I might not be able to take it. (*blush*)

    • fursa_saida

I figure years of playing Neal Caffrey have taught the man how to dress. Or at least his people have, extremely wisely, taken a cue.

    • Qitkat

Don’t you just wonder what his parents look like? because, god, he’s gorgeous.

      • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

You could try googling them.  His dad was a Dallas Cowboy, at one time.

    • Verascity

From the eyebrows down, he looks perfect.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Isn’t Alton Lane promoting a line inspired by Matt’s “White Collar” wardrobe? I could swear I read that somewhere.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_26F5YJPMIK5OMIMBUBYFZISM6A Howard

Nice!  “Darlings” is soooo dated .

    • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Krysta

I always wonder how one manages stubble with makeup.

    • http://twitter.com/themissingmink Mink Carlyle

So, God looked down on Mankind and saw that things were hard right now, and lo, he sent Matt Bomer to cheer us all up with his continual, all encompassing perfection.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HIZ7S2FRLC52NXARXQ4ERHNOGE Liz

I have been impressed with this man’s face since he was Ben on Guiding Light!!

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

He is almost too pretty to do it for me. ALMOST.

    • EEKstl

It’s sort of ridiculous how handsome this guy is.  Perfection.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_26F5YJPMIK5OMIMBUBYFZISM6A Howard

Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner; Dessert; Night Cap; Midnight Snack , did I miss anything?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_JSGAZPEESHQT47ATH55GNOHHBY Erin

He looks so good he’s not even ruining it by keeping his hands in his FUCKING POCKETS.  What IS it with this crop of man-starlets and their pockets?

    • PeggyOC

I can’t with the hair.  It’s giving him a fivehead.

    • iCouture

Love the look, he is adorable.  However, that hair is starting to look like Camie’s in “Theres Something About Mary”.  We all know which part I am referring to…..

    • Alyssa

Fantastic, and I adore his hair this way.

    • cowper

Can we elect a President of Style? Because I’d vote for him.

    • Puckndc

The higher the hair, the closer to Jesus!

    • guest2visits

      Impeccable suit and fit; gorgeous.

    • librarygrrl64

He is just too pretty to give me The Feelings, but DAMN, he is a good dresser! That outfit gives me The Feelings, I’ll tell you that much.

    • Lisa Do

This suit on him reminds me of Christian Grey..

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

      He’s a thing of beauty.

    • drdarke

      Dear Matt:

Does your husband really let you leave the house with THAT hair?

      Sincerely,
      A Concerned Fan
