Burn the shoes!  Burn the shoes!  My eyes!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

Burn the shoes and send that dress to my closet!

      • jennsilentcrow

        agreed.

  • Pants_are_a_must

    But why. WHY THOSE SHOES.

    • DeborahJozayt

Would you have liked the shoes in a different color, perhaps? I kinda like them but if they were a diff. material and color.

      • Pants_are_a_must

No. They are BAD. This dress is so busy, all she needed was either a classic pump in any non-nude color, really, or one of them wicked Tom Ford sandals everyone seems to be wearing. Those shoes were really the worst stylistic choice it was possible to make.

      • Sobaika

They’re fug, but I would have been less mad at them in this outfit if they were in black.

      • suzq

Personally, I would like different shoes in either green or red, pulling either one of those colors from the dress.

  • FrayedMachine

I like it in a very weird way. I have no idea why since theoretically, I should hate it. But something about it on Cotillard makes me like it.

    • Mary229

      I feel the same way.

  • Tracy_Flick

Those shoes! Awful! The dress is for an advanced fashion-wearer, and she’s really pulling it off. But the shoes should be burned.

  • LadyCelia

So is this the dress that Josh was TRYING to make?

    • http://twitter.com/catinlaw Catherine George

That’s what I immediately thought, too.

    • MilaXX

       I thought the same thing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1832126583 Mary Lauer

The dress is wonderful. The shoes are horrendous, and the makeup too understated.

  • Sobaika

GORGEOUS dress, but the shoes/clutch are all wrong.

    • suzq

Didn’t even notice the clutch, which would be perfect for a Chanel suit, but too business-like for such a dressy garment.

  • http://twitter.com/chrystyl Chrystyl

Black lace combined with a flower print in couture? I see what you did there. :)

    • R. L.

I wish this was what Josh had done.

  • In_Stitches

I had such an immediate, negative reaction to this.  I am over these full, high-waisted, mid-calf length skirts that have become so ubiquitous in the past few months.  Oh, and the shoes are abhorrent.

    • filmcricket

Same. That shape and length are for women younger than 20, IMO.

  • http://www.facebook.com/seelebrennt Christina Diaz

gorgeous, but i hate those shoes with the fire of a thousand suns.  and her hair could look better.

  • mommyca

gorgeous!!! and to me the shoes somehow work :-)

  • Tatiana Luján

I don’t like the shoes, but she looks gorgeous.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UH5XQGXDKLXDSVGB626B53KXBA linda

that would look cute on Natalie Portman

  • dorothea_brooke

(what looks like) beige suede shoes with that dress?  Now I’m not an advanced fashion person, but wouldn’t one wear those with something more casual?  Or in Las Vegas?  Frankly, they’re pretty trashy.

  • Ruth Preston

Love the shape, but the applique work stops just short of Etsy. Also, the shoes are an abomination unto the Lord.

  • SewingSiren

Love everything about it. I also do not like the close up of the shoes. But from a distance the whole look is marvelous.

  • OrigamiRose

Absolutely adore this dress and her in it.  I do wish the shoes were different; that “old bra” color just seems to let down all the loveliness in the palette of her dress.

  • Judy_J

Great dress, and she’s wearing it well.  Don’t like the shoes, though.

  • Diane_G

I LOVE her hair, the open back, everything ankle-up. I’m still flip-flopping on the shoes.

    • suzq

Come over to our side.  You know you hate ‘em.

  • mhleta

Yeah, the shoes are kinda harshing my mellow here. But otherwise, she and this dress are doing wonderful things for each other.

  • http://twitter.com/crush_onyou crush on you

I think she looks gorgeous here. Love that dress on her, and it shows that she does too, though I find it is a little too tight on her waist at the back (and maybe it’s a bit too long?). The shoes are hideous, but at least they’re the right beige for her skin color, so they tend to blend in in full body pictures while giving her the correct height to pull the dress off. So she really could do better but for me she gets a pass on those. Hair and makeup are understated but cute, and don’t compete. The only thing I really dislike is that matchy clutch.

  • decormaven

Hiddy shoes; look like some old SAS sandals pumped up on steroids.

  • butterflysunita

She is so fabulous that she can carry off almost anything.  But I think simpler styles show off her beauty better–this dress is so fussy that it’s distracting.  The shoes are hideous.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VZLU6YVO4BRTELTTH3GRAAMWZQ Dot

    Gorgeous, gorgeous dress…bewildering shoe choice.

  • MilaXX

I like everything but the shoes and bag. I get that she didn’t want to fight the dress, but nude accessories was not the way to go.

  • nannypoo

This dress is pretty over-embellished, but she can get away with it. She always looks great.

  • http://twitter.com/peacebang Victoria Weinstein

    Great dress. Trauma-inducing shoes.

  • http://remedialstitcher.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

It’s too long. The length on the runway is more flattering. The shoes are horrible She could have picked any of a number of colors in that dress, and it would have been a better choice colorwise.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

The flowers in the bust area look like they’re attacking her.

  • Imasewsure

Hate the shoes and clutch (and I’m ignoring the ugly back) but I like this look on her overall

  • http://www.facebook.com/D.D.D.Dino Dino Bonačić

so chic. don’t mind the shoes- although some black strappy sandals would have been better. :D

  • Judy_S

Oh, I thought, how patriotic of her to wear Arche shoes, a French brand.

  • fringebenefit

Dress is fab. Hair, sad. Shoes make me lose the will to live.

  • wuffgal

If you are going to wear open toe foot wear, GET A PEDICURE. No one wants to see your gnarly toes.

  • mjude

love love the dress, but even i know the shoes are not good

  • Mary229

    Only you, Marion.  Only you.

  • http://twitter.com/chylde chylde

Wow, she’s wearing Josh’s couture dress from last night!

    • Laylalola

:) I was thinking the same thing at first glance. It’s not really, of course, when you look at it, but it does sort of vindicate him.

    • Diane Lynch

It’s the couture dress Josh was hoping to make. But didn’t.

  • msdamselfly

    She looks so gorgeous

  • Elizabeth Silverstein

Love the dress and that is totally HER DRESS, but the shoes are bad.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Did someone steal her real shoes?  Because the only thing worse than those shoes with that dress would be showing up barefoot on the red carpet.

  • Allison Woods

Hate the shoes. Back cutout unexpected, but not in a good way.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/DNWEFT2SVBX5T3NPMROQCT4U2U jennyv

    J’adore everything but the shoes!

  • Carla_Charlton

Just because shoes are “Jimmy Choo” doesn’t mean they look good.

  • Sara__B

    Great gown. Bad styling.

  • Lilak

May I join the chorus: Once we’ve killed those leather goods we’ve got something.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Good GOD I hate those shoes. The dress does nothing for me; It almost seems like a poor (relatively speaking) imitation of something from Dolce & Gabbana.

  • suzq

I really hate the shoes.  The dress, however, is stunning.  And somewhere, Joshua McKinnley sits and does a facepalm, realizing what he could-a should-a done to stay in the competition last summer.

  • jw_ny

No to the hair, clutch, and shoes, but that dress is lovely and is perfect for Marion.

  • lrhg

LOVE. But the shoes are horrible; simple black pumps would have worked fine.

  • Maluca

I find myself loving the dress… But those shoes! UGLY! And she needed a bolder lip.

  • http://twitter.com/unflinchingly Lindsey Romain

Dress is cute and I don’t even hate the shoes, but THAT HAIR. I can’t.

  • procrastinatrice

I adore that dress and she was made for it. The shoes are indeed horrid however.

  • SorayaS

Loveeee the dress; absolutely stunning hair and make up; inexcusable accessories.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Angelica-Smith-Mertens/150401222 Angelica Smith Mertens

I would like the shoes if they were in a black or dark brown, but they don’t go with this dress.  A strappy black sandal would have looked pretty I think.  Slammin dress though!  It looks wonderful on her!

  • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

Love the dress, HATE the shoes. The familiar refrain.

  • guest2visits

I prefer the models shoes with this.   I liked the look from the front. Too bad about the gigantic hole in the back; ruined it.

  • blondie707

I like the dress, but the shoes are awful and so is the clutch. Not in love with the hair either.

  • unbornfawn

I shouldn’t but, I really like this dress. Wrong shoes though.

  • E. D.

Really hate those shoes in general, not just with that dress.

  • mznormann

I think maybe this is the dress Joshua was trying to make….

  • quiltrx

Something tells me you have to be very pretty and very French to work this look.  And Marion is definitely working it!

But those shoes…honey, go kick whoever talked you into those directly in their junk.

  • Ezmartin

    werq

  • http://twitter.com/annalizabet Anna Elizabeth

I hate the shoes and the hair looks Vulcan, but it’s a pretty dress.

  • MissAmynae

J-Adore!!  So very French and finally, she’s back to fun Marion! I got so tired of navy and black on her, that I don’t even mind the shoes this time.

  • EdgarAllenPwn

    SO CUTE.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

The shoes don’t work, and I hate her hair, but pretty dress.

  • RocknRollmom

I adore the gown.  Red satin pumps…simple clean and gorgeous.  The shoes and purse should be burned.

  • Elleachaudaucul

    Scrolldown fug.

  • alyce1213

Damn, she ruined an amazing, gorgeous dress with those awful shoes.  what was she (or her stylist) thinking?
To add insult to injury, the ugly shoes have an open toe and SHE DID NOT GET A PEDICURE.  Eeuuuw.
Also her clutch is pretty bad.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

the shoes push the dress over the line into gypsy fortune teller land.

  • Lauren Schneider

I absolutely love her and her fashion choices, but I’ve found so many times that dresses just do not look as good as they could on her because she is SO tiny and for whatever reason never hems anything.  The silhouette of that dress looks great on the model, where it hits right above the knee.  It doesn’t look nearly as nice when it hits at tea-length, as it does on her.

  • barbarienne

    The shoes are just wrong.

I’m on the fence about the dress. It’s not bad, but I think she’s being overwhelmed by all the stuff on the bodice. I’m leaning toward “too much dress.”

  • http://twitter.com/PattieGillett Patricia Gillett

Fabulous dress ruined by bizarre shoe choice. Shameful considering that these stars have access to any shoes they could ever want.

  • Noelle Haland

HATEHATEHATE those dreadful 70s-macrame-at-camp shoes and also hate that snoozer of a clutch, but the dress is GORGEOUS on her. I’m not nuts about the hair, but it IS a little interesting and different for her.

  • bluefish

She looks great.  Love the dress, the hair, and the shoes.  I’d definitely give the shoes a shot were I still young.    Love them with the dress too.  Quirky as hell but well put together and she looks happy and comfortable in her outfit.

  • Rrroza

Gorgeous and delightful. I dislike the shoes on their own, but in the outfit the shoes disappear.

  • jennsilentcrow

sublime if she’d tetris those shoes to another look.
