Kristin Chenoweth in Yigal Azrouël

Posted on January 17, 2013

Having witnessed (from a photographic distance) many of her red carpet appearances over the years we feel safe in declaring that this is the way Miss Kristin needs to go, in terms of shape and color.

Kristin Chenoweth attends the opening of the new bar Riviera 31 in Beverly Hills, California in Yigal Azrouël. Shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti and Earring by Blue Candy.

Yigal Azrouël Resort 2013 Collection/Model: Ava Smith

She’s super-tiny, so any attempts adding volume just throw her whole shape off. Best to stay with simple silhouettes rendered in beautiful, flattering colors. In other words, Girl, that is SO your dress. Go out and buy a dozen in different colors.

What do the kittens think of the shoes? They’re hot, but we don’t think they’re quite right with this dress.

But honey, blowing kisses on the red carpet is such an amateur move.

She could use a hair makeover in a big way, other than that, it’s perfect.

    • marilyn

She could also stand to redo the makeup.  The hair and makeup age her terribly.  By the way, if she is going to keep the teenybopper hair, she needs to touch up the roots.  Tacky.

      • Forget aging, they make her look evil, like the kind of pageant mom who kills her kid’s rivals and makes it back with plenty of time to establish a solid alibi before guiding her kid through the sportswear routine.

      • CMCH

She would look better if she went with a stronger eyebrow, laid off the botox, and lost the sparkly pale pink lips. The latter looks so bad with the overtanning. And should really be retired after junior high.

    • kayleymaybe

Agreed – she looks like a “real housewife” of wherever.

    • RebeccaKW

I think a bob would be great for her…all that hair seems to overwhelm her.

      • christinewithanx

Right, more like Ellen Barkin. I’ve always wished she would do something with her five-head, too. She has a fancy mustache of top hair layer accentuating it here.

      • kattyatlaw

YES. Her Pushing Daisies bob was fantastic.

    • Little_Olive

Totally. Plus that hair covered up the most interesting part of the dress.

And be a little less tanned.

      • ConnieBV

I thought the same thing, except replace “hair” with “extensions”.

  • Alli614

the color of the dress really brings out the vein in her forehead…but other than that, beautiful!

    • denas silberstein

      rude comment.

      • Actually, I was going to ask: can nothing be done about forehead veins?  Because those are some very noticeable forehead veins.

        • anotherkate

Bangs can be done. I imagine weight gain might help, but it’s hard to say with a forehead… But I have to give her some props for not caring about it.

          • stacey avelar

The thumbnail makes her a bit klingon, not in a good way. Tan plus forehead…sorry!

          • I have a feeling that plastic surgery and botox have brought out the veins. The skin on her face is really really tight. I would also go the bangs route. And I feel like she’d really do well as a brunette.

        • Little_Olive

Ask Julia Roberts… I think eating?

  • That fit is STELLAR and the color is fab.  Shoes are zzzzzzzzz-ing–would have been nice to see something with a little more oomph.  But the eye makeup, that heavy liner looks more like Adam Lambert than Chenoweth.

  • mjude

TLO says…”But honey, blowing kisses on the red carpet is such an amateur move”  LMFAO!

i like the shoes but not with the dress.

    •  Love the shoes, but they’re too wintery for the dress.

  • VicksieDo

At least the shoes fit!  She’s got to step away from the bronzer!

    • Louise Bryan

My thought exactly.  These shoes look like they will stay on her feet, without breaking any metatarsals or phalanges.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Indeed she does. The dress shape and color are really working so much better for her than that bronzer.

  • schadenfreudelicious

lovely color and shape on the dress… agree the shoes are not quite the right choice, i find myself oddly distracted by her forehead however….

    • MGMcD

Yeah it’s like she’s trying so hard to be adorable she’s kind of Hulking out.

  • MilaXX

Very cute look. The shoe is okay with this dress, but I wish she was wearing something besides a black pump. I have no idea of what, just something a bit more fierce.

  • Trisha26

Don’t mind the shoes. I wish she’d get rid of those extensions (assuming) so we could see the one interesting aspect of the dress.

  • The dress is gorgeous on her but the shoes, yeah. Not really liking them with this outfit. She’s like a Polly Pocket, she’s so tiny.

  • kim cruea

She has a five-head with that hair. She needs bangs to cover some of that real estate.

    • Nancy Dunn

Tyra would love her forehead! Doesn’t she always say she wants 5 finger foreheads?

Seriously, though, she has such prominent veins in her forehead. I hope she’s well.

    • I was just going to say the same thing. I had a giant forehead before I grew into it. Bangs are what kept me from looking completely ridiculous.

And she needs to never blow kisses. It’s not only amateur; it distorts her face something fierce. You gotta have fat cheeks to not look like a skeleton when you do that.

  • She has a uterus on her dress.

    • Vickiefantastico

Yes, she does! I couldn’t unsee it after I noticed that. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful dress

  • decormaven

That’s a winning design for her, for sure. Another vote for losing the hair extensions; it took me a minute to see that the details on the bodice/shoulders were the same as the runway look. Don’t hide details with hair, please!

    • 3boysful

I love this woman; was fortunate to see her in NY in Promises, Promises.  However, the hair, makeup and bronzer are turning her into–and it pains me to say this–Pamela Anderson’s long-lost sister.  Stylists, please intervene!

      • I saw her in Promises, Promises on my birthday… Best birthday ever!

        • 3boysful

I saw it on a birthday trip, too!

      • IMNAngryLiberal

I so agree.  This may be the best I’ve ever seen her dressed, but the hair, makeup, and bronzer are making her look like a cartoon character.  Someone who loves her needs to have a talk with her!

  • Yes, “buy a dozen in different colors”…but not pink. I never want to see her in pink again. Thank you.

    • kimmeister

      Nor yellow or anything beige-y.

  • Lea Michele called and said blowing kisses is attention-whorey.

  • EMarrenner

I cannot un-see the weightlifter-style pseudo-speedo hidden in this dress. Otherwise: love!

    • Yep yep yep yep yep. I see floppy bikini bottoms/bountiful pubic hair.

  • The dress is lovely and suits her down to the ground. However, I think the shoes are kinda heavy for this look.

  • MGMcD

Cute dress and cute shoes but not together. And dear lord hack off that ratty hair, tone it down to a honey blonde shade and go about three steps down the bronzer scale. Then the Pie Man will love you, Olive Snook. Or at least I will.

  • She looks like she’s about to burst a vein there.

The dress looks great on her – sophisticated and age appropriate. The hair is a little toned down, but she could bring it down a little more. The shoes are wrong for the dress, but they don’t actually bother me.

  • ThaliaMenninger

The dress is fine, but I hate the shoes. They look too clunky with this dress. I also wish she would stop with the tanner or bronzer or whatever the hell is making her so orange.

  • nannypoo

I love the dress and it looks great on her. You can tell she likes it, too, because she has plastered a grimace on her face to resemble a smile and that great big vein is just about to burst.

I can’t stand this chirpy little pixie. I wonder what she would look like if she ever relaxed.

  • BrooklynBomber

I agree, that’s a great dress for her.

  • It’s amazing what the right proportion and silhouette can do – she really doesn’t look tiny at all.

  • Judy_J

This is a great dress on her, one of the best I’ve seen her in.  The shoes don’t really go with it, but I’m thrilled to death that they actually appear to fit properly.

  • kimmeister

The shoes are interesting but look a bit like she has giant spoons on her heels.  Or ice cream scoopers.

  • The shoes don’t *not* go, though. I don’t feel like it’s a horrible mistake. Not the perfect shoes for the dress, but they’re okay, and on their own they’re gorgeous.

The dress looks even better on her than on the model.

  • jw_ny

a really good dress…color, fit, style, etc.

The fake tan is way too dark…makes her look old.  Her tan line at her ankles made me chuckle tho…

  • Allison Woods

I think the shoes are fine. Pity she’s covering the interesting bit on the dress with hair.

Oh, and she needs to lay off the Botox there on the forehead, looks weird.

  • Now if we can only convince her and every other lady on the red carpet to stop hiding interesting details of their clothing with cocker spaniel hair we’ll be in great shape. And I adore those shoes, just maybe not with that dress.

And to compensate for the negativity, that is SO her dress.

  • teensmom99

Before I saw the closeup, I disliked the shoes.  But I think black and silver are a good choice for this dress.

  • EEKstl

GREAT dress, wrong shoe, especially because the metal on the shoe seems to be gold and not silver.  I also think they’re too clunky. I just bought a pair of Aldo  pointy-toed black suede pumps with a silver heel (just heel, not back and heel) and something like that would have been just fine.  These just look too Minnie Mouse-ish.  But boy is that dress gorgeous and flattering on her.

  • e jerry powell

I do think that a sandal might have been a better choice.

  • Sara LaBatt

Like the shoes ok but maybe would have liked a shiny silver better?  The dress and color are great on her.  The face pulling and blowing kisses are a little weird.

  • victoria rodeno

Love the dress, not loving the hair. Take those extensions out, baby. Natural is so much better.

  • The shoes are just chic enough, but the hair is ruinous; could she have least kept it back, so it doesn’t hide one of the main features of the dress, the shoulder cutouts?

  • elleg929

Love her but she needs bangs.

  • Call me Bee

The perfect dress in the perfect color for her.  The shoes, fierce as they are, don’t seem quite right–I think it’s the gold.  Gold with blue is classic, but this is such a clear blue–silver may be better.

  • The dress is riding up a little bit, but it’s a great color and shape for her.

  • Tatiana Luján

I love the dress and the shoes, but I just can’t with the texas hair and the fake tan.

  • alyce1213

Still not on board with her fake tan and country singer hair, but that dress is incredibly great on her. She looks fantastic.

  • Lilak

Glad to see her in a proper dress and not one of those spangly little bathtowels she was into for so long.  And what a nifty proper dress it is, too!  Too bad those shoes are the opposite of what to pair with all that pretty filigree.

  • Flora O

If only she’d move her hair out of the way, so we could see those cool slashes on the shoulder.

  • The dress is total perfection on her. The hair and make-up are another story. The shoes, since you asked, are too heavy.

  • unbornfawn

She looks great. I LOVE the shoes. Don’t care that they don’t go with the dress.

  • BuffaloBarbara

Love the shoes and the dress, not wild about them together, though I really can’t think what shoes would be right with it.  (Reality show: Picking the right shoes.  It’s got to be better than the bra-sizing one.)

  • stoprobbers

I like the shoe, on its own and with the dress, but I wish she would do something new with her hair. She could carry a much better haircut with ease.

  • RzYoung

I’m sorry, but her forehead is terrifying! It distracts me whenever I see pictures of her, it’s like her skin is transparent

  • The Ladybird edition of Cinderella that I had when I was a child (this one, in case anyone was wondering ) had Cinderella wearing a dress just this colour to the ball on one night. It was always my favourite and I never understood why the gold dress on the third night was considered an upgrade. So yeah, thumbs up to the dress, thumbs down to the styling.

  • MoHub

Other than taking up the hem and inch or so, this look is definitely one of her best.

  • She actually looks taller.  I love it.

  • Don’t love those shoes, but the dress is soooooo right for her!

  • bluefish

She’s always been kitschy to me so I can cope with the blow kisses.  Like the dress and the shoes — the tan, the hair, the make-up, all part of her stagey schtick — I’m noticing like the fussy old witch that I am a lot of these dark dark manicures with dresses not meant for them.  This dark wine red polish isn’t meant for that shade of blue — get it right, ladies, or go clear!

Beautiful dress — wish she had kepts the slits we see on the model and sacrified the hair extensions.

  • filmcricket

Those are Frankenshoes. I’m glad they fit, but they’re ugly as sin. Dress is fabulous. I do wish she’d go back to the bob she had on Pushing Daisies. Not sure if that was a wig or not, but it suited her down to the ground.

  • mozzer0906

Agreed on the dress, it flatters her both in shape and color.  The shoes are gorg, but not with that dress.  But this is a big improvement for Kristin so brava!

  • peachy

the dress is just ok, for me, but it fits her well, so there’s a point in its favor. the shoes aren’t my favorite — shiny things on my feet?-no thanks. the nails are too dark, hair extensions too….extension-y, her tan is bordering on weirdness, and blowing kisses, ew. i would love her more if she weren’t so kitschy and hokey….and her speaking voice often renders me unconscious – much like Kramer and Mary Hart’s voice. in all fairness, however, her singing voice is quite nice.

  • OneRing

I don’t know; the hair is pretty Pam Anderson-ish.  I do love the dress and think it suits her perfectly.  The shoes…mmmm….the beading on the dress is reading as silver, so I sort of wish she’d used silver accents in the shoe and jewelry.

  • leesalz

shoes are throwing me- not cray cray about the heavy black shoe with blue- the veins in her head worry too- but she can sing and I can’t so there ya go. She is better in every way and very funny. She might need to come out and tell us something…

  • ccm800

    she frightens me

  • Imasewsure

Agreed on the dress and shoes… I think the shoes might even be ok on someone without such tiny feet and legs though….they look like huge blocks on her but I think it’s just the proportion….something lighter would have been ideal. Pretty look though

  • her shoes fit, that in itself is a major accomplishment!

  • julnyes

The shoes are fab and I think they work fine with this outfit. The real issue is her hair and fake tan.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Honey, she’s from Oklahoma.  I was born there.  You have to have Big Old Hair and a fake tan, just to be allowed to cross the state line.  And blowing kisses is expected from your first day at Sunday School.  🙂

  • Alyssa Stanfield

I think she would look so cute with a bob haircut! Or anything short just to switch it up! I’m ready for Hollywood to be over this ridiculous extensions trend…short hair is not the enemy!

  • chitowndg

I really like the shoes with the dress.  Much better than i) a nude shoe, ii) a matchy shoe, or iii) a sandal – it is January.

  • Dress: yes. Shoes: fine. Hair: gurl, no.

  • MarissaLG

I know this doesn’t count because she’s not standing next to anyone, but in this dress, she looks TALL! It’s excellent for her.

  • Mazenderan

The shape of the dress is perfect for her, and the colour is pretty.

    The shoes don’t work.

    Her hair scares me.

  • what is going on with her forehead?

    • kschwarting

That was the first thing I noticed, too.  Perhaps she’s feeling stressed out–after all, what should one do and wear while opening a bar?

  • mila_8

I keep thinking of those t-shirts that have a bikini painted on the front of them. Anyone else see it?

  • kattyatlaw

Oh, CHENO. Sweetie, you’re a real girl now! It’s astonishing what this does for her. She looks great, but also looks like a grown-up instead of an itsy little thing with a ginormous head like she does when she wears those awful shapeless Aniston sparkly towel dresses. Love this so much.

  • AthenaJ

Wish the hair/extensions weren’t covering up the shoulder detail on the dress. Also, is it just me or isn’t the model wearing a shade that is darker/more vibrant? I like that better than the softer color Kristin is wearing.
