Love it. She looks really great. Not a fan of the shoes, though. Still, that’s a statement dress, and she’s not letting it wear her.

      • Sobaika

Why are satin shoes everywhere all of a sudden? They’re ruining perfectly good outfits.

        • Anathema_Device

Yeah, the satin is bad enough, but that color is awful with the yellow dress.  Something with a little texture would have been great with the flatness of the dress fabric.

          • SassieCassy

i think theyre meant to pick up the stones in the necklace but the color is too dull

    • Zippypie

Mullet hems, like sheer long skirts, need to GO AWAY NOW.  Great color though.

      • http://remedialstitcher.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

The hem’s better on the runway version.

        • drdarke

It’s too long for her is the problem, @SaraLeighM:disqus – the runway version looks sexy and breezy because it’s almost a minidress in front, but on her the front almost reaches her knees so it just looks like it Really Doesn’t Fit.

          • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

It’s much longer in the back in her version than on the runway; the difference between front and back is just too extreme. Oh, I just don’t like the dress. It would work much better all around if there wasn’t a tail.

      • MoHub

         Cutout backs as well.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000393765005 Garcia Loca

I’m usually no big fan of mullet dresses, but this is really cute (way better than the runway version) and nicely styled, bridesmaid satin shoes notwithstanding.

    • Vanja

I like the proportions on the model a lot better, that yellow is great though. Not really like the cut out in the back and the shoes are ugly.

What is it with celebrities and bad shoes when they have SO MANY OPTIONS.

    • Rand Ortega

Not loving the shoes, but the dress is fantastic. 1 of the few mullet dresses I can get behind. Pun sort of intended.
Cannot wait for “House of Cards”! The original was unbelievable. Can’t wait to see what what my former boss (David Fincher) & K. Spacey do to up the ante.

      • eowyn_of_rohan

Same here.  I always get excited whenever Fincher has a new project.

    • LLuL

It looks like she’s wearing a coconut bra under there.

      • kattyatlaw

YES. I was trying to figure out what was causing the titscrepancy, and that has to be it.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

She looks amazing in that shade of yellow.  I love how in the first pic you can see a blurry Max Minghella off to the left, just holding his coat and waiting for his girlfriend to finish her step-and-repeat.

    • marilyn

School bus yellow is a hard color to wear.  Since she is in London, this is probably considered tres chic.  My real complaint is about her horrible hair styling.  She is wearing a couture dress, and at a snobby British movie premiere.  She has the dress and the bag.  The shoes will do, but are not deal breakers.  She needs to step up to the plate with her hair, which look like she is on her way to a yoga class or the beach.  Her hair needs to suit the event and her clothes.   If this were and in/out situation, I would give her an out.  Not for the dress, but for the dismal hair thats drag the look down.  The purse is just right:  Uncluttered and in an unexpected contrasting color.  Maybe this is another cultural difference between the British and us:  Is it okay to show up in a designer dress with her hair in a clip?

“Since she is in London, this is probably considered tres chic. ” wow. You really don’t think much of Britain, do you?

    • GorgeousThings

Poor girl looks like she’s got a cold and has been blowing her nose all day long.

Love the color. Hate the hem. And those horse-hoof platforms can’t go out of style fast enough!

      • BrooklynBomber

With the a.c. blowing down her back and up her skirt it’s no surprise!

    • kimmeister

The pairing of that necklace with that dress is inspired.  They look perfect together.

    • EditKitten

From the front, I’m meh, but from the side, this is stunning.

    • schadenfreudelicious

      invasion of the bridesmaid shoe…..

    • MilaXX

I like everything but those horrible shoes.

    • E. D.

She looks like a linebacker in really ugly shoes.

      • http://twitter.com/DuBey2 Marie Fessler

One who really has to pee.

    • nannypoo

Someone needs to even out that hem and then we’ll have something really great here. The necklace is fabulous with the dress. The shoes suck.

    • Imasewsure

Love the color, hate the hem… she should buy that necklace because it’s perfect with her coloring… Death to those shoes!!

    • http://www.facebook.com/AntoniaDonnelly Antonia O’Connor Donnelly

      Everything but the shoes.

    • wawawah

DIOR? Not in a million years!

    • Trisha26

      I like the necklace.

    • VicksieDo

The back is where Anthony Ryan must have gotten his ideas…
Not crazy about this eye searing yellow, but in any other color I’d really like this dress.

      • Jackie4g

I thought the same thing about the dress back. Anthony Ryan finale, because there wasn’t an abundance of original ideas in that collection. I disagree about the yellow, though. It’s January and the landscape is grey, well if you’re in the northern hemisphere, that is. I don’t want to see lovely young women in black. I think she carries the yellow color beautifully. The necklace is spot on, could have used stud earrings since her ears are pierced anyway. The shoes are a temporary annoyance and will go away soon enough. But not too soon enough.

    • kathrineb

You have to applaud an actress that is not afraid of colour. I feel like her waist needs to be defined by a belt. Am I wrong?
      Not feeling the shoes.

      • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I think you are wrong, on this occasion, because a belt would break up the cut-out in the back. Plus I feel that the smooth, seamless look is mostly what this dress has going for it, other than the colour.

    • MzzPants

      That necklace is to die.

    • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

i’m in agreement about the mullet hem – not a fan. beyond that, she’s not offending me, i like it.

    • demidaemon

It looks better from the side than straight-on. From the front, it’s making her look a bit hippy and wide.

    • BuckeyeLou

I hate the Mustard Yellow color, too bright.  I dont like the hair and what is with her bad posture?  She’s needs to learn how to stand more lady-like, I dont understand her stance.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Not a fan of the dress or her precious little pose and the shoes are an abomination, but all I can focus on is her sunburned nose!

    • TieDye64

Ooooh, I can’t get behind this one. Between the eye searing yellow, the mullet hem and the shoes that are an offense unto God…just no. Her stance makes it look even more unappealing and awkward.

    • Candigirl1968

Love the necklace and clutch, and like the notion of yellow. But that dress just doesn’t fit properly – is it too tight on top? I can’t figure what’s going on there.

    • boweryboy

      No. Just no.

On the model the dress looks a but more structured, like it has padded hips. Either that or the photo was taken at the right moment as the model is walking with the dress flaring out behind her.

On Kate it’s limp and lifeless and boring.  Good color on her.

    • quiltrx

Don’t stand like that, darling.  Somewhere between ‘gotta pee’ and this stance is where you want to be.  It’s an excellent dress.

And two trends that MUST DIE—1) this “made up to look not made up” muddy makeup thing and 2) this hiddy satin shoes that go with nothing thing!

    • formerlyAnon

Fabulous dress in every way – EXCEPT the front view of the mullet effect.

      Really nice necklace. Awful shoes.

    • kolokOlchik

with different shoes this could be a WERQ

    • cleverlady

dress is adorable; shoes are deplorable.

    • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

The rest of the look is good enough that I can forgive the shoes. Man, that is a killer necklace.

    • ccm800

      wow. That’s unflattering.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603005248 Jeff Warhurst

      Hideous.

    • crash1212

So chic. Love everything about this except the shoes. I’m over satin shoes…well, that’s not true, I never liked them. I understand why she chose them and they don’t kill the look, just not my fave.

    • decormaven

Great necklace, but I would have added some small earrings as well and maybe deleted the large cocktail ring. That limp hairstyle is not comparable to the strong look. Don’t even get me started on those shoes.

    • Claire Scott

love the dress, surprisingly it suits her complexion.  However, her makeup looks a little underdone for the wintery London snowy weather this week.

    • librarygrrl64

Hate the shoes, not a fan of the hemline. Other than that, a good look for her.

    • TropiCarla

I applaud the effort, however, all I can think about is how hard Saldana would ROCK this dress.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

HATE THAT HEM.  And also, please someone help me understand – when did warning sign yellow make it as a high fashion color?  It looks good on so few people and it makes her skin tone race to the, um “sallow” end of the pool.  Sorry for the pun.  I need more coffee.

    • lilazander

Gorgeous! I love the “ara Girls”!

    • FridaStaire

Simply horrible from go to whoa.
Makes me think of a comment in Nancy Mitford’s Pursuit of love, where one of the characters notes how undignified it would be to be buried in such a knee revealing dress, the poor dead kneee sticking our in the coffin.

    • Jillaine13

I don’t like the drop down hem at all.  It looks like her butt is falling down.  And I wish there was a celebrity class every actress had to attend, how to stand when on a red carpet or step and repeat.  Just how strict was the Mara household where smiles were forbidden?

    • barbarienne

Not sure about the way it flares out in the lower half, but I suspect it moves really well. The necklace is great.

Also, I LOVE that she is showing off her ears. I don’t know why, but I find them charming.

    • renad

So beautiful from the side! So weird from the front! So, no. Too mullet-ey.

    • guest2visits

She looks very pretty. Except the shoes – black strappy heels instead.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=720946720 Carolyn Smrcka

Ewwwww.  Her bewbs look like cupcakes.  And those shoes are baaaaaaaad.

    • Alyssa Stanfield

Looks much better from the side than the front…not a fan of the shoes though.

    • http://twitter.com/BellCV Carole V. Bell

Love the color, ADORE, want the necklace.

    • kikisayshi

WTF with those shoes? Love the dress.

    • EEKstl

Love the dress and love love LOVE the necklace, but those shoes are just wrong.  I get that they’re echoing the necklace, but it’s just not working.  And they’re soooooo 2011…

    • stubbornthoughts

I hate mullet dresses. Too bad, because it’s a great color on her.
