it’s the first tine she has looked as young as here age.  Nice.

    • How old is she? She looks like she’s in her 30s…

      • ChiKat67

        She’s 24.

    • vandeventer

My god, going “fresh-faced” has taken 10 years off of her!  Usually she wears such horrible heavy make-up.

    • MissAmynae

Agreed. It’s not my cup of tea, but she looks really cute.

  • jilly_d

Boring shoes.  And the combination of her bad makeup and that green background is making her look positively ghoulish.

  • Sobaika

No… Although I have trouble believing anything would look good against that background.

    • lindsmh

I think someone forgot to digitally add the background. Why else would they stand her in front of a green screen?

      • Yeah, it looks like a set or something.

      • Kappyapp

that was exactly my thought too. No reason do to chroma key green without, well, chroma-keying it. She’d probably still have that green hue on her face & hair though.

      • charlotte

I was going to say…is she supposed to float in mid-air on a magic carpet and someone forgot, well, that?

  • savicevic

Hate the makeup and I think she needs a new hairstyle.

  • kckris

i could have sworn these were pics of meg ryan.

    • Qitkat

I WISH these were pictures of Meg Ryan. So cute before she froze her face. Getting older has been difficult for her.

    • mshesterp

Yes!  My first thought too.  Very “You’ve Got Mail” Meg.

  • Cute dress, in fact, it’s what i call a “frock”…

    • EveEve

I hope this horizontal-seams-across-the-bust trend dies quickly and quietly.  There was far to much of it at the Golden Globes (Jessica Alba, lookin’ at you and those puckered seams and lumpy cups).
As for Miss Julianne – she has pretty blue eyes.

  • V V

Why are her eyes so red and puffy? Has she been crying? I know it’s Nicholas Sparks, girl, but pull yourself together.

  • Annabelle Archer

Julianne Hough, human equivalent to fetch.  Stop trying to make it happen.

    • Sobaika

She’s somewhere on the list of Fetch. It’s topped by Jessica Biel.

  • Little_Olive

She looks cute and all, but the dress seems a better idea than it panned out to be.

I do not dare to criticize much more when she is standing before that horrible background (and looking ok while doing it).

  • elleg929

    Hair is awful.

    • vandeventer

Normally I would hate this hair, but it is infinitely better than those layers upon layers of hair-sprayed curls and extensions.  Welcome to the 21st century Julianne!

      • teensmom99

I find temperly is often a better idea than its execution.

        • formerlyAnon

That is a very good way to put it.

  • Age appropriate, even if she has Swiffer-head hair. That’s about the micest thing I can say. Her shoes and makeup are awful.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

She’s cute, has a good body, I would like to see her find a stylist who can help her make the most of her assets. Definitely needs to learn how to work with her more recent shorter hair-this won’t do.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

Weird, unattractive dress.  But at least she doesn’t look like a 42-year-old.

  • I barely even see her for the green screen background. I don’t know what she does to piss off her hair people, but someone should probably tell her.

  • B_C_J

The dress is quite pretty although the construction especially around the bust and above the bust looks quite shoddy.  The hair is disgusting and the red eye make up is simply disturbing.

  • I simply don’t like it. The darts and puckering give both the satiny fabric and the netting a cheap feel–and speaking of the netting, its color clashes with her skin tone. I realize it isn’t illusion netting per se, but the color, combined with those god-awful nude shows and a bad dye job job, washes her out, which is weird considering the fun color surrounding it. Sorry, girl, but this looks like a repurposed halloween costume, and your barely-there styling did you no favors. I realize this is a casual event, but I just don’t find this as cute as it was meant to be.

  • Is that just weird eyeshadow? She looks like she’s been crying!

  • That haircut does nothing for her face shape.

  • MarissaLG

Love the dress, hate the hair.

  • gabbilevy

Ok dress, but why was this photocall on a green screen?

  • choco

    she looks kinda worn out…

  • Introspective

ive never seen someone so attractive and young have so much trouble with how to dress herself to look so.

my god. if helen mirren can get it right most of the time why the hell cant you, julianne??

  • BuckeyeLou

Its a cute young looking dress, but doesnt fit very well in the bodice. I think her hair style makes her look young(her own age), too often she tries to look “too glam” and looks old.  I think she looks young & cute here.

  • I…actually kinda like this? Bolder makeup and a not-hideous shoe would help, though.

  • padma sallah

That background is unfortunate. As is the dress. And the shoes. I thought the dress at least was fine but I realized that against a different background, it would still suck all of the colour and life out of her.

  • fringebenefit

I don’t know what it is about this girl, but she can never quite get it together. Hair and make-up are wrong, dress is cute but a touch too long and somehow ill-fitting. Looks like she’s trying to go it alone without a stylist and isn’t quite making it. She certainly has all the raw materials.

  • Is Nicholas Sparks going to be CGI’d into the background later?

  • jmorino08

I can’t even pass judgement on the dress because I’m so flummoxed by the LIME GREEN!!!! But I unreservedly hate that haircut. I like the idea of it — she has a great face for that length — but it just looks like a bad haircut. Like she did it herself or let her cousin, who is in beauty school, use her as a test subject.

  • jw_ny

her hair looks more like she’s hanging out on a lazy Saturday than going to an event, but she at least looks her age for a change. I like the dress…hate the shoes, of course.  I think with some minor tweaks she’d look good.  That background…searing!  Is it a green screen behind the furnishings?

  • The background is tragic. As is her inability to look her age.

  • KGW

Is that Meg Ryan in a Project Runway dress?

    • alyce1213

      You nailed it.

  • fringebenefit

This dress looks like it was the product of an “unconventional materials” challenge on PR. It’s just off, somehow. As if it were put together with landscape fabric and electrical tape.

  • Puck Thornton

I don’t know who she is, but she reminds me of Jennifer Aniston.  Love the orange, but the rest is just bleh.

  • PastryGoddess

    Bad hair
    Great Dress
    Shoes must be burnt

  • mrspeel2

We can’t even see her Sethi Couture earrings. I imagine the folks at Sethi are bumming out right about now!

  •  holy smokes!  Look how much younger she looks without the DWTS war paint!

  • Girl_With_a_Pearl

The dress is wrinkled and puckered.

  • MilaXX

    Dull as dishwater.

  • ghopping

She’s pulling a definite Meg Ryan.

  • IAmJ

The dress is cute. The hair and shoes are a nightmare. And she drives me nuts for some reason.

  • Theoretically nice, but wrinkly and ill fitted in execution, bleh shoes, and the makeup to me makes her look like an allergy sufferer.

  • kimmeister

Pale blondes always look so great in orange.  I like the top part of the dress, but the bottom half errs on the side of “The Fifth Element” to me.

  • BrooklynBomber

When I saw the thumbnail I thought I was going to love it, because I do like the bodice. But the full, pleated skirt just doesn’t work with the top.  Shoulda been a sheath dress.

  • Imasewsure

I kind of like the bold and clashing colors here. Hair is weird but cute, and the dress looks better without the close up. Still cute enough.

  • crash1212

I think this about the cutest she’s ever looked – EVER. Not crazy about the shoes, but she doesn’t look like a 50 year old drag queen.

  • alyce1213

I like the dress, it’s very feminine and flirty, which suits her — however it could be better fitted and steamed. The hair is bad and she’s poorly accessorized.  I don’t know how she is as an actress, but she’s a fabulous dancer.

  • maggiemaybe

All I can see is that green back drop and it’s making my eyes bleed…

  • AuntieAnonny

Everything about this post confuses me. Is it a play? Photoshoot? Party? Why is there green seamless? Why were people allowed to walk on it with shoes on? Why is she wearing an upcycled parachute? With those ugly shoes?

    Confused and depressed.

  • muelonil

Funny…the hair is my favorite part.

  • l_c_ann

Now we know that Cousin It was a She!

Is that skirt a patchwork quilt-made fabric?  If so interesting, esp when combined with that bodice (although I hate the gathered fronts along the placket, even if the placket is faux).

  • teensmom99

cute but the finishing of the dress does not look high end to me.  I would have guessed Boden.  And shoes are so wrong.  I’d love to see a pointy kitten heel with this in a dark blue.

  • This would have looked cute if her hair was tucked behind her ears.

  • Dagney

    Those shoes are unforgiveable.

  • I can’t help but applaud this a little, all things considered. But those SHOES. Uck.

  • Vera L-

the hair is tragic and that dress is better suited to Kiernan Shipka.

  • My….my….MY GOD.  She looks young!

  • Cute dress, if a bit un-seasonal. It belongs in the spring or summer. There is some weird pucker-y stuff going on along the seams, but I wonder if a good steaming/pressing would fix that.

Though she clearly didn’t bother to put on makeup or brush her hair when she woke up this morning.

  • librarygrrl64

CUTE dress. Bad shoes. Okay hair and makeup. Needs jewelry.

  • BuffaloBarbara

I do not like it, Sam I Am.

It pulls oddly, and the neutral is too close to her skin tone.  I like the shape, though.

  • formerlyAnon

She’s so cute here! I won’t quibble except to say that the shoes are beyond dull and pointless. I mean, I see why they were chosen, but still.

  • OrigamiRose

Honestly, I thought this was a lost Meg Ryan photo shoot from twenty years ago.

  • Fordzo

    Meg Ryan v 2.0

  • Kellye Steindel

Needs some chunky gold jewelry! Like a bracelet or two to make it feel like an outfit.

  • MGMcD

Cute dress. Shoes are whatever. Hate the hair. Without the ten pounds of slap she looks younger but whatever is going on with her eye makeup is making her look tired and puffy.

  • guest2visits

This dress would work alot better for me if the white mesh was orange mesh.

  • Love the dress, but it looks horrific against that poison green background.  Who’s idea was that?

  • She can wear orange, which is rare, and she looks young and fresh here. Hate the make-up and hair, though.

  • allcapsERINN

At first glance I thought this was Meg Ryan.

  • EliseC

Wow.  The ageism displayed here is sick.  She looks great.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Hate the hair, shoes are weird, but that dress is fab!

  • ThaliaMenninger

Meg Ryan, the younger years revisited?

  • unbornfawn

I like the dress. That is about all I like. The hair is a mess and the shoes are sad.

  • She looks like 80’s Meg Ryan.

  • ccm800

Man do I hate that hair. She looks freshfaced and youthful though.

  • quiltrx

Another oddly-fitted bodice.  All these extraneous boobie-seams must go, methinks.

Otherwise it’s a cute dress (I really like the skirt) and she actually looks youthful for a change.

  • Painful Meg Ryan hair.

  • LilyPad

I really love her fresh face here and the color combination and bold lines of this dress really go with the classic cut. She could’ve gone with a sassier shoe, maybe a solid color but a more exciting shape. All around though I think she looks really pulled together.

  • RzYoung

I could really get behind this if it weren’t for the shoes. I even like the helmet hair.

  • Alyssa Stanfield

Meh, not a fan of the dress. And I usually love their stuff, especially on Cathy! But I do really like her with the short hair.

  • mmc2315

Cute dress, from a distance, but up close, I have objections to the puckers and wrinkles and seaming.

She is most definitely giving off a Meg Ryan vibe with that hair!

  • suzq

Super cute.  I’d like to see the skirt length a skosh higher.  The shoes are fine.  Imagine what a “pop of color” would have done against that green!

  • profritz

Boobie Darts.  The new parlor game.

  • newtonGOTbeaned

This may be the first thing she’s ever worn in public that suits her. I’d love to see what she looks like before hair and makeup. I bet she’s much prettier.

  • If the lighting director had done this set properly, she wouldn’t look nearly so awful.  It’s not all her fault that her face looks terrible in these pictures, although is does also look a little bit like she had been crying.  So good for her for putting on an adorable dress and smiling anyway!
