I don’t know if it’s the lighting, but her lipstick looks distractingly orange-ish here.

      • kimmeister

        Indeed.  Not her lip color.

      • Sobaika

Her hair/makeup people should be fired.

        • eowyn_of_rohan

Seriously.  This is not a dress that calls for rumpled cocker spaniel hair.  A sleek blow-out would have done wonders here.

        • Introspective

like x 1000. lately she’s been showing up on the RC looking closer to 50 than her actual age which is half that. that makeup and the washed out blonde she’s sporting are definitely causing this problem.

      • Melissa Brogan

Yeah, I think it’s a cute little ensemble, but her hair and makeup is kinda tragic.

    • filmcricket

Not one of her better choices. The dress fits her beautifully, but I don’t like those cut-outs over the clavicles. The lipstick colour doesn’t suit her, and her hair is going seriously Goldie Hawn. She should have worn it up, that would have helped.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I agree; hair up and a colored shoe.

      • Snailstsichr

I can not un-see Goldie Hawn now!

      • http://robot-heart.tumblr.com heartbot

        I thought Goldie Hawn, too!

      • http://twitter.com/holocausticity E. Sevilla

YES! goldie hawn with a little florence welch in the face

    • judybrowni

Ladylike and sexy: good job, Emma.

    • TonyGo

Why would you choose this dress and then cover up the only interesting part of it with your hair?

    • random_poster

It almost doesn’t look like Emma.  She’s looking like a blond Joan Jett with light eyeliner.  The dress is only enh.

    • alyce1213

I guess this little black dress-with-slit works for TV sitting because the slit is in front revealing her knee (hands resting modestly on lap), and the fabric falls on the sides to prevent exposure of under-thigh and the good china.
I’d have chosen a more interesting shoe than the plain Louboutin pump —  I really like the patent leather double strap shoe the model is wearing.
The washed-out blonde and harsh makeup are making Emma look older than her 24 years. What a shame. She looks too hard, almost an entirely different person than red-haired, softer Emma.

      • 3boysful

         DItto.  You explained it perfectly.

    • marilyn

She should put her hair up so we can see the work on the upper part of the dress.  It can barely be seen through her straggly hair.

To me, the super pale, super blond, super red lipstick against the black dress just looks harsh, harsh, harsh.  Under TV lights, too.

    • Mary229

I’m not sold on the outfit and I don’t like her hair or make-up.  I do like that it’s finally become fashionable again for women who are extremely fair skinned to not be constantly spray tanned.  I hope the tanning trend dies a slow death.

I like this dress on her, but her hair and makeup have been so fail lately. I wish she would go back to the auburn hair. I know that blonde is her natural hair color, but she looks amazing with darker hair.

I’ve just realised that she looks like a girl I went to school with. Anyhoo – not her makeup and that slit is a little high for sitting down.

    • schadenfreudelicious

the dress is interesting, but the makeup is garrish and that shade of lipstick is almost giving her Joker Mouth!

    • Jessica O’Connell

I really like the dress and the shoes are ok, though would be better as a different color I think. The hair and makeup….not great.

No complaints about the dress, but I HATE her hair that way.

    • jenno1013

Dress is fine, but too plain with the cutouts covered.  Either needs hair up and away from the cutouts, or a long pendant to break up all that black.  Agree shoes could be more interesting.  And while yes the choppy hair is unfortunate, but I really think it’s her bangs that are doing something odd to the proportions of her face.  She has huge features and I think she needs some visible forehead to balance her eyes.

Chic. Love it. Great look for the talk shows.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

Fabulous except the lips are rather harsh.

    • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

Cute, but the hair kind of sucks, no?

    • jilly_d

love the dress but her hair and make-up gays need to pay for this.

    • E. D.

What’s the point of that neckline if the hair just covers it up?

    • Jacqueline Wessel

I really like the dress on her when she’s walking on in it, but when she’s sitting the armhole gapes in the back and her hair covers the cutouts. Her lipstick is a little too garish for my taste. She looks good but she could look great.

    • stubbornthoughts

This dress looks fantastic on her, but MAN – her makeup isn’t doing her any favors. Girl looks exhausted :-(

    • http://twitter.com/MarfMom Maya

she looks 45 here. what is up with her hair and makeup? like the dress though.

    • Annabelle Archer

Dafuq?  The lip color and that hair, she looks washed out and exhausted.

I really think she should embrace the red hair, even if blonde is her natural color.

    • http://profiles.google.com/scaponigro Sarah Caponigro

I miss her red hair. Love the dress on her though.

    • Lilak

      A smashing, sleek look.

(And I’ll take a ‘tired’-looking Emma Stone – in a talk show chair or on the screen – over the likes of, say, Bosworth at her freshest.)

    • SugarSnap108

I think she looks pretty fab from the neck down.  But my great-aunt Catherine wears that color lipstick.

    • Dan_In_NYC

I would characterize this as a scroll-UP fug.  Such a naturally and accessibly beautiful girl with some HIDDY makeup and hair.  Love that dress and those shoes, though!

    • Julie Parr

Her hair color is starting to make her look like a Fanning sister.

    • CT14

I don’t like the cutouts, but luckily her hair hides them. Unfortunately, they were the only interesting part of he dress.

    • http://twitter.com/UberChicADee Diana Giese

Love the dress, but thinking it’s not her dress.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1355527007 Rain Jezek

Wow, she looks great. Her hair up would be nice as it’d show off that collar more, but it’s a great dress on her.

    • http://www.facebook.com/NadiyaOsmani Pudgy Possum

Perfect! She looks adorable. Gimme that dress NOW, please!

    • guest2visits

The cutouts look kind of ridiculous. And the shoes are too blah.

    • ojosazules

The hair or the cutouts, not both. The makeup makes her look drab. Or maybe it’s just the lipstick.

    • suzq

If you’re going to wear a dress with cute cut-outs on the chest, why cover them up with your scraggly hair?

    • ThaliaMenninger

      I’m not having it.

    • formerlyAnon

Does she show up in makeup/bring her makeup person or stylist, or does the show’s staff make her up if she so chooses?  ‘Cause it’s hard to believe that someone who’s used to doing makeup for t.v. lighting did hers.

    • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

She should have worn her hair up. Aside from that, I like this.

    • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

Oh, I miss the days of her rich, red hair.

    • MilaXX

Great chat show  look. I don’t mind the bright lip, if the rest of the face is toned down.

    • Imasewsure

I like the dress and shoes overall… problems with the hair and makeup…luckily both are changeable….

    • quiltrx

Move your hair, darling.  It’s covering the most interesting part of the dress.

    • Frank Lithium

      Terrible skin tone here.

    • whitrome

      WHY BANGS

    • fursa_saida

The makeup could be better, but to me the bigger issue is the hair. I think it should be off her shoulders; when she sits, all the shoulder interest is obscured and she just looks like the dress is choking her. A somewhat more elaborate shoe would be nice, though I don’t mind the all-black.

The dress itself looks pretty smashing on her when she’s standing, I have to say. And it makes sense she might be heading toward a sleeker, more bombshell-adjacent set of looks now that the poledance for Gangster Squad is about to start.
