Chloe Sevigny in New York City

Posted on January 04, 2013

Oh, YAY! Miss Chloe is helping us kick off the new year by revealing a new and heretofore-unseen alternate personality for us! Clap hands, darlings!

‘American Horror Story’ star Chloe Sevigny goes out for a stroll in New York City.

Meet Oscar. Oscar lives in a trash can and has anger management issues and difficulty with intimacy. His only two friends are a giant bird and some sort of elephant thing. His only joy in life comes in yelling at children.

I think I’ve seen this coat before, worn by one of the Goths in ‘Asterix the Legionary’.

    • Pants_are_a_must

      Asterix! Good times.

  • I really kinda love the coat Oscar is wearing. And he’s giving master class lessons on how to carry the promo bag.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

It is so very much her coat, isn’t it? Working an item that should not be workable.

  • elemspbee

    omg T’Lo. that’s freakin’ funny.

  • She looks comparatively sane here. I am so excited to see nice boots and a fully covered crotch that I can’t snark about that dreadful bathmat on her shoulders.

    • TheDivineMissAnn

My thought too.  This is high fashion for her.

  • Super_Red

TLo, thank you for that- I needed that laugh.

    • Introspective

Me too! Just had the hardest workout Id had in a while and was feeling pretty damn tired and defeated. I came to TLo and saw ms chloe & knew Id get the pickmeup I was craving.

“Oscar” is going to make me giggle for the rest of the day…

  • I kind of love it. Then again, I’ve been known to describe my own style as crazy cat lady/grandma chic.

  • I_Heart_TLo

God bless you.  I so needed this today.

  • schadenfreudelicious

it does resemble an aging bathmat, all the best to Oscar and Snuffy in 2013…

    • The bathmat’s not just aging — the bathroom was too damp and now the mat’s getting moldy.

  • Sobaika

Oscar needs a red lip. And I need that fantastic coat.

    • MilaXX

I have the long version in brown.

      • Sobaika

Must be perfect for this season!

        • MilaXX

Feel no pain. Trust me when you wear something that ugly, it must be worth it.

      • dress_up_doll

I had that very same coat when I was about six years old when faux fur was making a comeback. I cried my eyes out on Christmas Day because Santa didn’t give me the chocolate brown version I had requested on my list.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

And if we’re not nice to that bird, Oscar’s going to put a hurtin’ on us! Thanks for the laugh!

  • Anathema_Device

    Best Chloe alter. Hilarious.

I do like that haircut on her. But that is one serious bathmat jacket.

  • You forgot Slimey!

    • Judy_J

Yeah, Slimey is Oscar’s best friend!

  • ChiKat67

  • Judy_J

Leave it to Chloe to give us all a New Year’s treat.  That coat does look like it was made from Oscar’s pelt.

  • Blech, the texture on that rag of a coat looks so cheap. I’m pretty sure I have stuffed animals from my childhood manufactured from the same material.

  • I think I may have met Oscar before….

  • butterflysunita

As soon as I saw that coat, I wondered what Muppet she had skinned.  Poor Oscar.

  • SewingSiren

About 20 years ago there was the big Nor’Easter and the subway tunnels flooded so I had to walk home from Mid-town to Williamsburg. In the rain. I was wearing a old fake fur leopard coat. It looked like this when I got home. …….I didn’t even bring it in the house… I threw it away right there on the stoop.

  • Lilithcat

That coat is a perfect example of all that is wrong with faux fur.

  • Reneesance

You totally nailed it although I was pulling for Retired Title Clerk Octigenarian 🙂

  • mjude

  • MilaXX

OMG! Fellow BK’s, some of you may recall me saying I am currently wearing a coat that looks like Fozzy Bear.  Well my coat is the long version of Ms. Chloe’s  coat in brown……… with a hood. It is as ugly as original sin, but very, very warm and until the temp gets above freezing, I will continue to wear Fozzy. I even bought brown gloves to match.

    • DeborahJozayt

As long as you tell really corny jokes while wearing said coat, all will be forgiven. Wakka wakka wakka!

    • mhleta

      Want. Picture. Now.

    • butterflysunita

If it is warm, enough said.  I would totally wear a Fozzy Bear coat if it would keep me warm in NYC.

    • Stubenville

I know I’d be put to death by the Fashion Taliban (led by Anna Wintour) for saying this, but comfort is more important than looks if you’re battling the elements, with few exceptions. Red carpet event? Okay, you can shiver from the limo to the door. Walking home in a blizzard? Get real.

      • MilaXX

        No argument from me.

    • formerlyAnon

I envy you your Fozzy coat.  My favorite at-home garment in the winter is a bathrobe that is *almost* as thick as the . . . pelt? faux fur? on that coat. If I could make it look like anything other than a bathrobe, I’d wear it to work, on errands, pretty much anytime it wasn’t being washed.

    • TieDye64

You go on with your bad Fozzy self, girl!

  • I think she looks great and I also want to pet her.

    • oohsparkley!

      You are not alone.

  • beebee10

and there goes my coffee all over my screen again! thanks boys, it was worth it!!!

  • Oscar kinda looks like he spent some time by the trash can rolling around in some dirty water before leaving to go run errands for the day. That coat looks ratty.

  • BrooklynBomber

Too, too, too funny! I sure like that handbag, though.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Aw, you didn’t even try! How about Jill, an Oscar cosplayer who moonlights as an S&M cat burglar and enjoys browsing for Miu Miu sock garters on her free days?

  • afabulous50

My father had a coat like this – only shorter.  It brings back great memories…

  • I can smell the coat from here.

    • mhleta

Right? It smells of bong water and Dorito’s, yes?

  • That literally made me LOL.  Wasn’t expecting that, but could it be anything else?

  • I have the Cookie Monster version (except he’s been brushed.)  It’s hideous but oh so warm.  And fun.  And it takes a certain confidence to wear.  (either that, or I’ve totally stopped caring.)

  • greyhoundgirl

    wants boots

  • annrr

One of your funniest posts EVER. I am still laughing.

  • Vlasta Bubinka

Heffelump couture jacket… but I like it.

  • ampg

Oh, how I love her coat, because it led to this post.  Thank you to TLo for existing.

  • mhleta

Say hello to my bong-water covered bathmat from 1975.

  • twocee

I saw that coat and immediately thought “muppet.”

<——–Also, I am apparently related to this particular Chloe-personality 🙂

  • She actually looks better than usual (talk about damning with faint praise), and since it’s been so bitter cold in NYC the past few days, I bet she’s warm.  I like the boots & black tights.  Could this be a New Year’s Omen?

  • alyce1213

I kind of like this coat because it’s so . . . normal, actually.  Then I look again and I get itchy.

  • Oh my God, it’s my grandmother’s carpet come to life.

  • crash1212

Wonder what she bought. Love the sunglasses and boots. Everything in between is bathmat material.

  • MzzPants

    You Bitches!  XO

  • EEKstl

  • UglyTalents

I know we’re all making fun of her but I totally have this outfit in mutliples: black boots, black leggings, big vintage-y faux-fur overcoat/sweater/blanket. I think she looks OK!

  • PastryGoddess

Clap hands is the new phrase of the year

  • trisker

I think she looks kind of cute and normal here, but your comment was dead-on hilarious!

  • ralish

“some sort of elephant thing.” Brilliant. Although I always thought he was a wooly mammoth.

  • I love the coat. Paired with the leather it’s Chic-ish. . .

  • Sara__B

I just snorted my coffee. I love you, T Lo!

  • I gleefully clap my hands over the phrase “heretofore unseen”!

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

OH my pretend husband Chloe, on the phone pretend calling me and telling me she is going to tickle me to death.  My new year finally starts today.  Eh, on second thought, I’m going to wait until Monday to start the new year.  I actually love that coat in a non-ironic way.

  • i thought it was some sort of yeti costume…

  • MattCooper27

Oscar’s been doing some monsterscaping. He’s nicely trimmed.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Thanks for that … made my day!!

  • LOL. You guys are the best.

  • decormaven

If she’s wearing this ugly fuzzy coat for warmth, why isn’t she wearing gloves as well? Sorry to interject reality into Chloe’s alternate universe.

  • neofashionista

    hahah lol fabulous
    thanks for the giggle

  • OMG!!!  I now know what happened to the avocado shag carpet in my first apartment over 30 years ago!

  • unbornfawn

Nailed it guys! Laughing my ass off.

  • I love how her big problem with her AHS:A role was there was too much grunting, not enough talking.

  • This jacket is what would have happened if Scarlett O’Hara had been out of curtains but had plenty of bathmats.

OSCAR FROM SESAME STREET!!!!!….. PEEEEOOPPLE!! this is high fashion??!! more like forever 21

  • sweetlilvoice

I love the coat, Chloe, and Oscar. I was a grouch on Christmas Eve (I kept shorting out various electrical outlets) and my adorable husband played Oscar’s classic, ‘I Hate Christmas.’ It really lightened the mood.

  • My God, now I know what happened to my dog’s large fleecy chew toy!

  • I love you guys.

  • formerlyAnon

Ignoring the probable cost of her ensemble, I think she looks strangely ordinary. That coat looks enormously snuggle-up-able (sorry, not clever enough for a Snuffleupagus pun) and I want to pet it.

  • Pam Winters

I almost like it. I wish it were greener and looked a bit cleaner.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Yay! More fun with Chloe in 2013! You two are hysterical!

  • RebeccaKW

I love her.  She is both crazy and normal looking here.

Seeing her here makes me want to see her in that dress Fanning the Younger was featured in yesterday.

  • Chloe Sevigny, Wolf Hunter!  Disguised as a sheep she lies in wait in the pasture at night in case the flock should be attacked.

  • mskgb

It’s not easy being (vomit) green.

  • sweetsadness

My god, she[‘s turned herself into Lisa Dunham. That’s not a good thing, visually.

  • L.  O.  L.

Wow that made me laugh so much I actually need to put my laptop down and go pee…

  • nannypoo

    The Yeti live.

  • quiltrx

I didn’t know ‘Nightmare at 20,000 Feet’ came in coat form!!!

  • Karen Dickerson

Okay, it may be Oscar the Grouch-esque, but I’m kind of in love with the whole look. It’s a bit cray, but it’s working for me.

  • ccm800

I can’t help it, I think she looks cute.

  • Amy

You are a grown woman who makes obscene amounts of money! You are not a club kid from the early 90s (well not anymore). You are not someone who has to dig through the garbage for your clothes (hopefully). Get it together, Chloe!

  • StillGary

  • Laylalola

I was thinking this would work better as Grover or Elmo, then wasted an embarrassing amount of time searching the Internet to see if they’re related.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I have a very long, much less fluffy version of this coat.  A 1930’s version.  I love it.  I also love her black boots and the fact she’s actually dressed for the weather.  Go Oscar Go.

  • kolokOlchik

  • mozzer0906

Brava darlings, you made me my laugh so hard I cried.

  • Jennifer Hammond

That coat looks like a worn out bathroom carpet.
