Chloë Moretz in Paris

Posted on January 22, 2013

Our fashion telepathy is informing us that Miss Chloe is thinking, “That’s right, bitches. I’m walking my new haircolor and all-around fabulous self into the Dior show, looking fine. Jealous?”

FINE, CHLOE. We’re jealous. All right? We’re jealous of a 15-year-old girl right now.

Love the outfit, but the static-cling skirt is kind of awkward.

Why doesn’t this girl have an awkward faze??? My version of 15 years old was not very cute. No amount of Dior could have masked it.

      • LesYeuxHiboux

I predict adulthood will be her awkward phase.

      • Ana Ced

I kinda think she looks awkward right now, or probably as awkward as she is going to get.

    • DessertWratt

Nobody’s mother teaches them to wear a slip anymore. Yeah I know, clothes are complicated.

      • Kayceed

If the skirt is couture it is surely lined. Perhaps she needed a minion with Static Guard?

        • girliecue

Me! Me! Pick me, Chloe! I keep a can of Static Guard in my bathroom, bedroom, living room, car and office. I’m always ready to battle static electricity. No, I’m not sheathed in polyester – I just hate being shocked by static electricity.

          • Rrroza

you are a super-hero of sorts, girliecue!

            • girliecue

Why thank you. I’ve been wondering what useless superpower I might have…

      • 3boysful

I know, but I’m not even sure you can buy them anymore.

        • kimmeister

You can, but there aren’t a lot of options.  Most foundational garments are Spanx relatives these days.

        • formerlyAnon

You can. I don’t know where to find a nice one, though, just lowest-common-denominator, mostly in polyester.

But SURELY if one has a stylist and access to couture clothing, beautiful slips can also be procured. In the precisely right length and cut for every skirt/dress which might need one.

          • emily

Agent Provocateur makes nice slips, or at least they used to. They even have ones that aren’t slutty. It’s really wonderful.

          • foodycatAlicia

I’ve found a company based in the UK that makes really lovely silk jersey slips. Not very expensive but wonderful under clothes.

          • siriuslover

I love slips. Something slinky and sexy about them, I don’t know. Too bad they’re so hard to find anymore.

        • understateddiva

I have some old (vintage?) shorts-slips from the 70s and they are awesome!

      • elirt

This happens all of the time to me and drives me nuts! It happens to me even with lined skirts. It’s because of the fabric her tights are.

    • savicevic

I’m confused about what’s going on at her feet. Is she wearing a pair of socks over her tights? Or is that just the pattern of her tights? Or is that just the pattern of the shoes?!

      • Angela_the_Librarian

I’m confused too (glad to see I’m not the only one)!

      • FrayedMachine

They’re bootied heels. I actually love them and I’m not usually a fan of insanely pointy toed heels.

        • savicevic

Thanks! That was my first impression, but the longer I stared at the heels, the more confused I became.

      • Sobaika

They’re booties. They’re very strange, because they’re purposefully meant to look like simple heels (the straps and all).

    • gabbilevy

Those shoes are to DIE but they do not belong to 15-year-old Chloe. They belong to me. GIMME.

      • Mismarker

I would mud wrestle you for those shoes.

        • tinyredlocks

I’d join you. And I’d win. Those shoe are worth fighting for.

      • RocknRollmom

I am bringing a knife to this fight!  Definitely a shoe to cut for!

    • LesYeuxHiboux

I never cared for her (or her overexposure), but she is officially beginning to irritate me. A little humility please? You are no Katharine Hepburn, you aren’t even Dakota Fanning.

As much as it pains me to say it because you are OBVIOUSLY aware, your outfit is cute.

      • 3boysful

Very cute, if a tad funereal.

      • lovelyivy

I’m holding back on my slowly developing dislike (due to high levels of smug) because she’s really pretty young, and has plenty of time to grow up and get over it- after all, most of us do.

      • Whever

I’m in the same boat- love the outfit, HATE the ever-present smirk.

    • FrayedMachine

Love the outfit that I feel like it’s a bit older for her. Seems more fitting for someone in their twenties than someone in their teens. Also, someone needs to teach her to put the duck face away. Stop pursing your lips, hon. We know you have them since everyone has them.

      • Kayceed

The grays and navy blue make me think of a hepped-up school uniform. But then those heels…

    • l_c_ann

She’s 15?  Going on thirty, maybe.

      • The Versatile Chef

Oh my God:  YOU’RE MY MOTHER!! (Srsly, I can’t tell you how many times she said those exact words to me)  😉

      • RocknRollmom

15 wearing a suit that would look better on someone almost 40 years older than her—like me for instance! I need/want a new chic navy suit. Hard to find.  And unfortunately Dior is NOT in the budget.

    • Janet B

A slip would have kept the skirt from sticking to her tights.

      • girliecue

Not if the slip was made of synthetic material. Static Guard is the only way to me some Static Guard!

      • foodycatAlicia

You just rub a bit of body lotion over your tights & it stops the static cling.

      • Sara LaBatt

Rubbing a dryer sheet lightly on your tights works too.

        • Kristin McNamara

That also works perfectly for too-staticky straightened hair!

    • miagain

      and dandruff… poor dear!

      • Andrea Schrul

      • Kristin McNamara

HAHA. This literally made me cackle. You must live somewhere warm, don’t you? Look at the ground in those shots where she’s on that guy’s arm! That white stuff is what we northerners call snow! 😉

    • Muyserin

The (wear-a-slip-under-skirt-teaching) mother in me also has issues with the fact thatshe’s not wearing a scarf despite the fact that it appears to be snowing. This also would have spruced the all-navy uniformity a bit.

    • xmixiex

errrr… that looks like something i’d wear to work here in Paoli, PA (though costing many thousands less).  Not that it’s not cute, but dior show?

    • Beardslee

How weird it is that a 9th grader is a featured attendee at a fashion show.

      • foodycatAlicia

YES. I am EATEN UP with jealousy that this flippertygibbet (who is I am sure very nice and much more famous than me) gets these invites and free frocks and I do not. I would look SO good in that outfit.

    • petalfrog

I am loving everything from the knee down… does anyone know what’s going on there? Looks like black tights, with grey asymmetrical ankle socks, then slingbacks? Is this accurate? Do I have any hope of pulling it off without looking like a tool? If so, where can I get grey asymmetrical ankle socks?

    • CurbGirl

What if we put this outfit on Juliane, put Kerry’s on Ms. Moretz, oh and maybe Bey’s hair on Ms Wood….sorry, having a paper doll moment.

    • IAmJ

I hope she’s a nice kid who has her head on straight but she’s starting to look alarmingly smug and insufferable. The outfit is very cute albeit a lot grown-up for a 15-year-old.

      • xmixiex

nyeah I honestly have no idea who she is.

    • crash1212

Love it. Static cling and all – and those shoes are FIERCE!

      • Introspective

id cut her for the shoes. its annoying to think about my grown ass fighting a 15 year old, but dammit if those shoes lay at the end of the brawl, Id jump in clawing…

    • another_laura

I don’t like the shoes – ace-bandaged slingbacks not really being my thing – but from the ankles up, she’s looking oh so fabulous.

    • Annabelle Archer

She is scary.  In a good way. But scary.

She brings out my mamma bear in that I don’t want her over sexualized and all that stuff, but she also brings out my inner 15 year old who just thinks she is the coolest, hottest girl in school and I totally want to sit at her lunch table.

    • Alex Palombo

She looks lovely, young, and put-together. I just wish her mom had showed her the trick of rubbing a dryer sheet on her legs so her skirt wouldn’t stick.

      • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Does that work on hose with skirts? I have this same issue where the fabric sticks to the hose, and it’s not static. Annoying.

    • ojosazules

The shoes and jacket are sharp, but the skirt is a frumpy mess. The outfit is not quite as successful as she seems to think it is.

    • Krysta

Is it just me, or is the dark leather on the shoes green, not black?

      • Pennymac

I’m seeing green as well, and I’m wondering if that stretchy material is part of the shoe? If is, why is it needed on sling backs? If not, YUCK!

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

      Baby Diva. Snaps.

    • MilaXX

She does indeed look cute, but that’s an old 15 year old.

    • Susi R

I need the jacket and the bag, she can keep the rest.

    • Pants_are_a_must

      That bag looks cheap.

Other than that, I hate her for having a fabulous life.

    • charlotte

I have a very similar jacket from the collection Madonna designed for H&M a couple years ago. Am I cool now?

    • thecitysleeps

I used to like this girl circa the Hugo era.  Now I just always think she’s too smug and full of herself.  But maybe I’m just jealous, and I do love her shoes.

Still,  girl you’re 15 jesus,  act like it.

    •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

It’s perfectly unseemly for a grown ass woman to feel THIS JEALOUS of someone too young for a driver’s license, but if TLo feel the same I won’t hang my head for too long.

    • nannypoo

Cute. Whose arm is that in the last picture?

    • Anne StJean

Aside from the fact that she really should be wearing a slip, it’s all good. And I am so freaking jealous.
Am I the only person here who really wants her to try a pixie cut some day?

    • Tadiana

Not being one who follows all celebrities religiously, I thought for one brief joyful moment that this post was going to be one about Chloe’s alter egos.  Dammit.  Now I have an unreasonable hate for this Moretz chick and her stupid skirt.

    • afabulous50

The ONLY thing of hers I wish I had???  Her money.  That’s it.

    • FridaStaire

A bit of hairspray can work for static.

    • frannyprof

SOOOOOO jealous. I feel like I’m back in Jr. HIgh, awkward and shy and hating all of the pretty popular girls.

    • Pamela

Could that jacket BE any tighter?  And those shoes are kinda weird.

    • formerlyAnon

Close to amazing. I am not in love with the grey (or off-black) upper swathe of the shoes against the tights.

      And if that’s all I’ve got to complain about . . .

    • Dhammadina

So young and so fashion saavy. The shoes would be awesome for someone twice her age.

    • alyce1213

To ease my envy, I have to say the jacket is too tight. It looks tortured on her body. Another 1/2 inch would have made the difference.  Static Guard and a lint roller are needed.

      • mhleta

I noticed that, too. Let us together enviously “harumph” our displeasure. On three…

    • guest2visits

Super cute and super stylish… well done again little miss C.

    • MinAgain

I love the combination of those shoes and tights.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

And in heaven, Audrey Hepburn smiles.

    • MissAmynae

The jacket is flat-out too tight. and seriously, a grey t-shirt? Come on, duckface, really?

      Fabulous shoes.

    • Henry Maler

Chloe Moretz is that girl that you were incredibly jealous of in high school that you didn’t dare say anything bad about because you knew she’d find out and then read you to filth.

Also, she looks pretty fierce here.

      • mhleta

Or she might be that girl you were incredibly jealous of in high school but didn’t give a crap what you or anyone thought about her, because she had all access passes to Mount Olympus while the rest of us were relegated to living with our feet in the dirt.

    • aristida_girl

love the outfit, shoes, and her new hair! good for her for trying something new…

    • Amy

Talk about where the cool kids are at. Geez!

    • Victoria Weinstein

Love the jacket and hair color. Hate the skirt.

    • Pterodactyl111

Oh man I WANT that jacket.

    • quiltrx

All-around cute.  Especially loving the jacket, shoes, and hair.

    • PaulaBerman

She should play Kristen Bell’s sister in something.

    • RzYoung

      Those tights are wicked!

    • Kathy_Marlow

      I need that coat…it’s adorable

    • Molly Geipel

I always forget she’s only 15. Sheesh with the fierce already!

    • amaranth16

Wow, that outfit is stunning. The jacket, the skirt, the shoes – everything is perfect.

    • mhleta

Fabulous outfit, but what are these splotches I’m seeing everywhere? Someone needs to invest in a lint brush, and someone else needs to clean his/her lens.

    • Lindsey Romain

I’m so jealous of those shoes I’m actually crying.

    • Ana Ced

Is this a joke? I really thought you guys would rip her apart on this one. She looks like a (really rich) secretary. Meaning that is such a boring outfit for a 15 year old!

    • Jessica O’Connell

My God I want that jacket!!! She looks cute, though the contrasting blacks of the tights and shoes kind of bother me.
