Darlings, we can’t be critical bitches all the time, you know. It’s bad for the skin. So let’s all privately stand up for and salute those celebrities who aimed for fierce and hit the mark this year. Attagirls. And boys.
Gwen Stefani attends the 40th American Music Awards in Los Angeles in Balmain.
‘Tis a risky choice, we admit. But this was the Year of the Ladypant on the red carpet, and as we all saw, plenty of ladies found these newfangled contraptions just impossible to figure out. Miss Gwen is working both a high fashion and rocker chick look simultaneously, and she’s killing it by looking every inch herself.
Dita Von Teese attends event at Cafe Royal in London in Valentino Couture dress paired with Christian Louboutin pumps.
Muthafuckin Snow White realness.
Leelee Sobieski attends the Christian Dior Spring 2013 show during Paris Fashion Week.
Sharp, fierce, and high-impact (,they wrote, after slamming their Fashion Thesaurus shut triumphantly). This is how you want to look when you’re getting your picture taken coming out of the Paris fashion shows.
Ewan McGregor attends the premiere of ‘The Impossible’ in Los Angeles in Balenciaga.
Because it makes us sigh and smile.
Rihanna switches on the Christmas Lights at Westfield Stratford City in London wearing a Raf Simons coat and Acne top and pants.
Yes, yes. Another risky choice. We can hear the screams of protest as we type. But again, in this Year of the Ladypant, we feel the need to applaud those ladies who found high-impact ways of wearing them. She’s definitely serving up Huxtable on a platter, but this is very well put together (veering close to too matchy for its own good) and manages to look both polished and a little funkily memorable. Haters, as they say, are wont to hate, but we stand firm on this one. Ri pulled it off.
