Dress modestly, ladies! We’re heading off to DUBAI, where the money flows like honey!

Cirque du Soir Bar and Club, Dubai

It’s about time we all headed out to someplace cray-cray, right?

Guest judges Lala Anthony and Kylie Minogue with Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman and Carolyn Murphy.

Blah blah.

De Grisogono founder Fawaz de Gruosi and Carolyn Murphy present the seventh challenge.

Blah de blah.

Blah.

A CHRISTMAS UNCONVENTIONAL MATERIALS CHALLENGE! Oh, we are sure to see some crack on that runway tonight!

As for us, we’re heading out to a fabulous Holiday party in our fabulous little Holiday outfits,  – screw that; the site went down just as we were heading out, and instead of going to a fabulous Holiday party, we instead spent 45 tense minutes on the phone getting the issues worked out. The life of a blogger, kittens. It ain’t pretty.

So what I want to know is why there is a bust that looks surprisingly like one of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in a bar in Dubai?

Fab bar. Champers, please. Who’s joining me to watch em make shit out of tinsel?

      • Anathema_Device

I probably won’t be watching. Lots to do and need to be in bed early for a change! But I’d love to pretend to be in Dubai, having a pretend Old Fashioned.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I won’t get to watch, really, till tomorrow. I’m closing manager on Thursdays, so I will be keeping the staff in line and corralling the herds of customers. But let’s just lift a digital glass or two beforehand, shall we?

          • Anathema_Device

Sure! And I’ll take a tinsel wig, to go with it.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Do I get to pick the color?

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

You could pick mine — I change colors constantly.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Then you can have the assortment pack, and have at it.

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Oh, my stylist would be so thrilled!  Maybe it would prevent me from taking such psychotic risks with my own…

            • Anathema_Device

               Of course!!

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

How about a nice deep violet for you?

            • Anathema_Device
            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Its hours later and I had the chance to look at this link.  I laughed myself sick.  The color is right but just about everything else is SO WRONG.
              hee hee hee.
I would never subject you to this in real time.

            • Anathema_Device

I know. The ridiculousness laps itself and becomes super ridiculous.

      • another_laura

I’m in!  I’ll be the one wrapped in flashing multi-color Xmas tree lights.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Awesome! Your champagne is chilled, and ready.

          • another_laura

            (taking long slurp)  YUM!

          • Call me Bee

I’m here, I’m here.  Whew.  Spent the day with a bunch of girlfriends–and when I got home–THe Hubs had installed a beautiful new rug in the living room!  What a guy, eh?
So I’ll get the next round of bubbly to celebrate.  Especially a Christmas non-fabric challenge.  I love shitty tinsel clothing…

            • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

Wow, that’s a nice story, and absolutely atypical in my world, lol.  I went with my sister out of town the weekend before Halloween for one of her grad courses and when we came back, her guy had shaved her toddler’s head.  It’s taking forever to grow back, poor little bald monkey.

            • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

You sure do have a great guy!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

I will! With pure delight and evil glee! Glue guns and tinsel! Somebody better work in LED lights, I’m just sayin’.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

The LEDs that slowly color change, please!

      • DeborahJozayt

I read “Shit out tinsel” at first glance and thought “It’s PR. Makes sense.”

    • Anathema_Device

Oh, the sacrifices you make for us, T Lo! Hope you’re finally having fun at that party.

I probably won’t be watching this episode until the weekend, but, yes, blah de blah blah blah.

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Oh, that’s annoying — this is why I could not be a blogger.  Tech guys and I do not converse well.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

I just had to have a thing with tech support and I expected a full scale blow-up and Valium-inducing high blood pressure scene on the phone, but I did the live chat instead, and the guy solved my problem easily, quickly and with no problem. And I never had to say a word, or hear anyone condescend to me, which pisses me right off. Of course, that won’t work if your computer is down…

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

We just very much speak different languages — for instance, they say the internet works by… something or other, I wasn’t really listening, while I maintain it’s many teeny tiny microscopic elves living in my computer who just pop to other machines as needed to convey or retrieve information.

Love Schmeidi’s shoes in the shot at the docks.

    • Monkey Toe

      Kylie! Squee!

Am I off my nut, or is this the least likely group to turn unconventional materials into gold? Or silver? Or brass? I mean it is tight-ass central, mostly. Can you imagine Ivy or Emile or Laura or Anthony R budging from the aesthetic far enough to embrace egg crates and AstroTurf?

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

You discount Casanova and Josh. And the always willing to embellish Uli. And the ability of the producers to FORCE the contestants out of their comfort zones by withholding any supplies that can be construed as tasteful, although I take your point that it is entirely possible that AR can make a tight dress with minimal design elements out of just about anything.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

Aah, that’s why TLounge was late. I was seriously wondering if the episode was not on tonight since the Lounge wasn’t up, and now I remember the Xmas unconventionality of it! Squee! So excited. Just finished an all nighter/all dayer American Art & Architecture take home exam that consisted of 8 essays, and tomorrow I’ll finish my semester up with one more essay on Early Feminist Art, but tonight I’m pretending it’s over and getting my DRINK ON. Josh, bring on the tinsel dress with glass balls I know you’ve got in you!

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Sidle up to me Sarah, and we’ll toss back the champagne while the whores try to make some sort of Wack Crapdoodle look like its wearable.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

Oh, and didn’t they, Kiltd. Didn’t they – with all the silver and gold plastic glitter they could muster.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Oh they surely did.  Thinking on it, I would love to have seen a winter coat made of silver tinsel that had been basket woven.  Would have been AWESOME.

      • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

Josh, bring on the tinsel dress with glass balls I know you’ve got in you!

And now I’m picturing him in a tinsel dress with *ahem* glass balls.  Good luck with your last paper!

        • formerlyAnon

I’d SO much prefer to see one such dress on him, rather than an innocent model who then has to try to sell the thing on the runway.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

It was brilliant. Judy Chicago should send me a thank you note. Glass balls, why didn’t anybody use them?!?

      • http://viridianpostcard.blogspot.com/ viridian61

        Congrats Sarah! Time to celebrate.

    • ojosazules

Sure do appreciate your hard work. Santa is going to be good to TLo.

    • Call me Bee

Uh-oh.  I just saw that the 1935 version of Les Miserables is on TCM right now.  Out of the 18 versions of this stiry–this one’s the best.  So I’ll see yas later.

    • NDC_IPCentral

Christmas in July, boy, the designer-contestants must have lurved that one.

Madly ingesting a V+T like there’s no tomorrow, RT. here  But, in fact, there IS a tomorrow and many more, thank goodness.

The news, BKs, PUFs and minions:  Chemo is over.  My oncologist stopped the maintenance chemo program a/o this past Tuesday owing to worsening side-effects (neuropathy is spreading) and the realization that I’ll never make it through 12 infusions.  Not unless I want to court permanent damage and significantly impaired quality of life.  Other valid reasons, too, having to do with the amount of Taxol I have already received since March to date.  So, I’m in the process of scheduling the “explantation” (read: outpatient surgical removal) of my port, which should occur early next week.  With no Chemo #4 this coming Tuesday, I won’t be a sick kitten flying out next Thursday to The Mitten State for Christmas with my sister, the best sister in the world ’cause she’s been such a rock and presence for me this year.  Not being ill for the first part of my week in My Old Home State is an early Christmas present!

Ergo, I’ll cadge some virtual Champers from my Left Coast estimable friend, Kiltdntiltd, Cheers!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Is he still as positive about the results, then?  And the neuropathy is EVIL!

        • NDC_IPCentral

Hi, Shannon, not to be too flip, but how’s your noggin?

He is quite encouraging about my prognosis, but to be honest, he didn’t talk about decades of added life the other day, only several years.  I, coming from long-lived (though non-cancerous) women on both sides of the family, eeked a bit and said I hoped to live a lot longer than 2-3 years.  Well, I’m going to be watched closely, both by my oncologist and my gyn/oncology surgeon who’s now my gyn,  My gyn for 35 years passed away a month and a half ago, to my sorrow – a wonderful man.  My gyn/onco surgeon is super, too, and younger than I, which becomes a genuine factor as one ages.

The neuropathy is mostly in my feet, but it has progressed patchily above my ankles – a stocking effect, my doctor calls it and part of the progression that he wants to avoid.  My right hand has some minor neuropathy and a lot of erythrodysesthesia – chemo hands – on the palm sides of the fingers of my right hand.

          • formerlyAnon

Well, I’m voting for the power of heredity – which is, indeed impressive – to trump his professional caution. Just in case, I hope you’ll be feeling almost-mostly-nearly back to normal speedy quick, so that you can enjoy the hell out of life as his measly, conservative years pass by and dwindle in your rear view mirror!

            • NDC_IPCentral

Oh, my oncologist is the best, formerlyAnon, and I adore him.  He made very shrewd treatment decisions for me at the outset, which has brought me to this remission state, so, no bad cess on him at all.  With an oncology practice, though, he sees a wide range of results, so I would expect him to pull his punches on survival predictions. I’m going to believe that I’ve dodged a mighty bullet and will live a long time, but I also acknowledge that a sword of Damocles will be dangling over my head forevermore.

I felt better yesterday (surely mostly psychological) and not too bad for most of today, but now I feel rather queasy, and that is NOT from the V+T that I inhaled.  In fact, I might need another one.  I think I will improve in terms of generally feeling better, but my sister-in-law, a 2x BCA survivor who had 4 cycles of the drugs that I got in 6 cycles (without her getting the Taxol in between), says that the chemo is in one’s system for a long time, so recovery is gradual.  She’s also a physician, so she knows of what she speaks in more ways than one.

            • SRQkitten

              NDC,

Raising a toast here to your newly improved status and for your doc to be off by a number of decades of happiness and health! Glad you’ve got a wonderful sister to be there for ya!

              Slainte!
              srq

            • formerlyAnon

Most of my post-chemo friends and relations took a year or more to feel like they were back to “normal,” but the pace at which they arrived at “mostly normal” varied from 4 months or so to the full year.

That sword can be dreadful, fearful thing. I hope it impinges little on your sense of well being.

I see no reason not to plan to live a good long time. You are probably tired of people’s encouraging stories that bear no resemblance to your medical situation, but here’s my offering, FWIW.  I know a woman diagnosed with advanced uterine cancer and given a prognosis of 4-6 months. She has never been deemed cancer-free, yet is alive FIVE years and 8 months later, still having more good days when she can do the things most important to her (and they are physically demanding things with large animals) than bad.  She attributes it to good health care, good luck, and her decision to live every day doing as much of the work she finds enormously satisfying as she is able, accepting her limitations but not anticipating them.

            • NDC_IPCentral

Thanks so much for this information about your friends, formerlyAnon; it’s not that easy – comfortable – to try to figure out how I will or ought (though “ought” is a fool’s game as we’re all individual) to feel.  My sister-in-law says it’ll take a year, too.

I think the sword recedes in primacy, but it’ll always be lurking.

Your friend’s uterine cancer story is a good one for me to remember.  I don’t know what Stage hers was, of course – I was Stage 3, but I’m relying on my phenomenal response to the chemo in wiping out the tumors back in May and my subsequent “optimal” (which is a definite term of art in the cytoreduction world – the best result) debulking as reasons to believe I will beat the 30-70 survivor-vs.-victim odds.  I agree that attitude, good health otherwise and good care from healthcare providers help to tip the scales in one’s favor.  Yes, indeed, one’s approach to the rest of one’s life is forever different, and your friend’s viewpoint is the one that I want to adopt and am endeavoring to do so.

              Thanks, my friend.

            • BrooklynBomber

Wow, wiping out the tumors  - brava for you and chemo. I hope and believe (I really do) that you will continue to do well.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Still troublesome.  Pain meds are now not working either, so my only option for the really bad days is to go into the ER and get a shot — not a fun experience and one that gets me very worried looks from doctors.  They are addictive so there’s quite a bit of concern that we have to find a way to manage this FAST.

I think I’m done with doctors for a bit though — one of the advantages of a problem like mine rather than something worse, like yours!  I just can’t take the go-around right now, so I have one more slot with a pain management guy and then I’m going to look at some lifestyle stuff that probably won’t work, but will give me a break:)

He may have simply dialed it back because he wasn’t expecting the problems.  I find any time you present a doctor with something they weren’t expecting, they tend to get more cautious.

            • NDC_IPCentral

Whew, I don’t envy you, Shannon, and I’m sorry that the pain meds are letting you down.  I think you have to find the delicate balance between what you feel you can manage and what your docs want to prescribe.  Keep us in the info loop, will you?

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Well, my dad was an alcoholic, so I’m a bit gun-shy on anything addictive.  That’s why I’m trying changing my diet to a very strict one and some different things like that.

            • formerlyAnon

Well poo on crappy pain management. I hope you get relief, and soon. Lifestyle stuff can help a lot, sometimes, I’ll be rooting for that in your case. You’ve got people to take care of/enjoy and stuff to do, after all!

            • BrooklynBomber

So sorry, Shannon. It’s awful to live with pain. Wishing you luck and results with the pain management guy and the lifestyle stuff.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Multitudinous congratulations on being done with chemo!!!! What a terrific holiday present. Waiter? A double Jereboam of Perrier Jouet for my friend here.

        • NDC_IPCentral

Oh, P, you make me laugh and smile, and we know that’s the best medicine.  Sure wish you didn’t have to work this late afternoon/early evening (for you), but hope that bidness of a holiday nature makes toil worth the effort.  Yes, it is a good gift, though I confess to being a little bereft without the regularity of chemo – it’s a bit like riding without training wheels.  I felt that in early September before the maintenance program was initiated.  I’ll get past that ambivalence, though, I’m quite, quite sure!

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I try to help in the way that’s open to me, my friend. And I’m grateful for you that it does help.

        • Polka_Dotty

I’ll have a cherrybomb in celebration, as well! Glad you’ll be able to have some family fun in The Mitten for the holidays.

      • notdorothygale

Blessings to you, and healing prayers. And attagurl to your sis!

        • NDC_IPCentral

My sister has been such a rock – coming out here for the dark days in March when I was full of tumors for my exploratory surgery (too many tumors for the Big Open to be performed), again for my 3rd cycle of chemo and for two weeks after The Big Open as well in late May/early June.  She made meals, got me walking, cleaned cupboards and was by turns compassionate and a taskmaster.  She’s a keeper.

          • Peeve

Many blessings to you and your wonderful sister! Hope your recovery from the chemo and neuropathy is swift. Congratulations on the end of treatment! Should be a very Merry Christmas!

      • formerlyAnon

Well, yay for having a comfortable Christmas!  And may the Taxol have done its preventive damage as effectively as it was neuropathizing your extremities.

It’s nice to know you can now anticipate faster progress back to feeling truly well again!

      • UsedtobeEP

Congratulations on being finally finished. Hope it’s your last needed round for good.

NDC!!!!  That is fabulous news!!  (So sorry I wasn’t around ast night to congratulate you–but..it was Les Miz c. 1935!)  And what a nice thing that you get to see your family here in the Middle West. I hope you can just relax and have a fabulous, fabulous time.
I raise a glass to you, Shannon and all Bks with health issues.  You are all an inspiration!

    • notdorothygale

Oh I hope you DID leave for your fabulous festivity, leaving the rest of us to soak in the boring swampy morass that is Project Runway. For my part, I will make a mosaic crown out of a broken wine bottle, pizza crusts the dogs really wanted, and ribbons of bitterness left from being a since-the-beginning-PR-viewer.

    • 3boysful

Glad you’re back up and running, guys.  Party on!  We’ll be imbibing in this cool bar.

    • UsedtobeEP

The Lounge is late, and I am early (for me). Yay! I finished my class for the semester—SOOOO pleased to be finished and back to my regular life minus all that studying and testing and writing papers. Whew! Happy me! (Sorry, I will stop shouting now.)  I am going to drink something bubbly and frivolous. Hope you all are doing well this evening.

    • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

That is a beautiful bar.  If I was actually going to bother watching PR All Stars, it would probably drive me to drink, so it’s a good thing I am neither at that bar nor going to watch.  It’s recaps from now on for me fellow BKs!  Although now I really really need a reason to go out there.

I think, maybe, just kind of swoopy leather flourishes?

But it says something about the woman’s wardrobe that I would have no trouble believing pom poms, should it prove so.

      Hi, guys,
For a moment I thought I remembered Laura Kathleen was aufed last week, but I had my blondes confused.

Greetings, one & all. I won’t be watching till tomorrow, but you KNOW I’ll come back on here later this evening to glean what I can from the commentary of the Minions. (Too many Christmas carols: the phrase “the slaughter of the Innocents” tried to type itself just then. Ah, the iron clad associations formed in youth.)

So be bitter, fellow Kittens. I’m counting on you.

Holiday season greetings to all, and a toast to our hosts.

I’m catching up on last week–seriously, could Anthony Ryan literally get praised if he sent his model down the runway wearing a potato sack and a beanie?

Ironically (?) the message seems to be that green=fug fabric.  Way to go, Project Runway!

      • CozyCat

They did the potato sack challenge a few seasons ago, so I don’t think that would work.  :-)

      2. Kylie Minogue is so tiny! Do the Locomotion!!
      3. A Real Housewife? Really?
      4. Why can I not stop watching? Why?

    • notdorothygale

Decades ago I worked at the Major Greeting Card Manufacturer in the midwest and we used to plunder all the “scrap” ornamentation from cards and use the pieces to make jewelry and ornaments. Nothing we created is as horrendous as this challenge is looking to present………….

      • dschubba

Were you an Ohioan, by any chance?

        • NDC_IPCentral

I’m betting Hallmark….. and Kansas City.

      • CozyCat

That sounds like fun.  Good for you!

      I luv Schmeidi’s high pony.
LaLa is a Real Housewife? I guess she’s another fashion icon. Whatevs.

LaLa is an Unreal Housewife I think.

“They can’t do Josh like I can do Josh”  Well, thank god for that!

      • alula_auburn

I feel that might be kind of a meta-statement of Josh’s ego-driven philosophy.

    • notdorothygale

      Love Uli’s.

I will be comparing it to the RuPaul’s Drag Race Xmas materials challenge. I will be expecting Virgin Mary and Kwanzaa realness, designers!

    • dschubba

Did Laura Kathleen win any challenges in her season? I can’t remember.

      • Polka_Dotty

I don’t remember either, but I know that T & Lo lreally iked her decoy collection at Fashion Week.

        • dschubba

Oh, I remember her decoy collection. I just can’t recall anything else that she did (aside from the circle thing that got her voted off.)

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PBGUD7Y6KYRNL7PCKYNPD2UGSM Carol

She won the third challenge.  Hell, I couldn’t what season she was on; had to look it up on wikipedia.

Really, a special on the royal nursery. The poor woman is still having difficulty keeping a cracker down and we’re doing specials on what color the nursery will be.

As for the designs. That is going to be one ‘interesting’ runway. Hope Josh’s model is able to get her backside covered.

      • alula_auburn

I like that random woman who was all “we’re making history!”   For a value of “like” which means “kind of want to smack her.”

    • Polka_Dotty

Is it possible they can all get schmaufed tonight? I think so.

So is  Casanova getting the Anya treatment?

“The flaws within the shorts” made me LOL.  The poor girl is practically wearing a napkin on her ass.

Anthony Ryan:  “the 40 to death demographic…”

YOU ARE DEAD TO ME, YOU LITTLE SH*T!  DEAD!  DEAD!

      • blondie65

It I could “like” this 100 times, I would. Damn you Anthony Ryan!!!

      • formerlyAnon

Oh, time will be the best teacher. You, annoying Grasshopper, will be 40 – or, gasp! decrepitude! 50! – in just a blink of an eye.

        • CozyCat

Yes, it is the one form of prejudice that exacts its own revenege.  Either you sadly die young, or you age to be one of those un-chic older people!  And then have to live with your own insults (helpfully recorded by the Lifetime network…)

      • Sara__B

“Between 40 and death” is a great line from a great song in the musical Mame. I have the Bea Arthur/Angela Lansbury version on a Broadway hits CD, and it’s a hoot. (I’m in the Pacific time zone, so I don’t know the context of Anthony Ryan’s remark, but I’m a sucker for Broadway musical references!)

        • CozyCat

I’m not familiar with the lyric, but I’m sure if it’s from “Mame” it’s not used to seriously imply that women over 40 don’t matter (it’s kind of the theme of the show that they do, isn’t it?) (btw:  I saw Angela Landsbury in “Sweeney Todd”:  absolutely amazing!)
However, AR used it to disparage another designer’s work, as in, “(it’s bad because) it would appeal to the 40-to-death demographic, ie, “old” women.  That’s a whole ‘nother ballgame…

    • Stubenville

I think Emilio killed Barney the purple dinosaur.

Is it just me, or is Schmeidi’s dress VERY reminiscent of Emilio’s from last week?

    • ChristinaRi

      Josh’s looks like Rio Carnival.

Ribbon Barney and Santa Wonderwoman, my eyes my eyes!!!

    • alula_auburn

LOL, I don’t think Laura Kathleen knows what “innovative” means.  Hint: it isn’t filling the basic requirement of the challenge.

ETA: I hate those stupid blue shoes.

    • alyce1213

Emilio is the luckiest guy on earth that someone’s was worse – Casanova?

    • Stubenville

Anthony Ryan – bunch of crap glued on a dress
      Ivy surprisingly tame.
      Josh – pure fug costume
      Uli – meh
      Emilio $1.95 hooker
      Casanova – surprisingly nice
Laura Kathleen – same as Anthony Ryan’s disco ball.

    • BPlease

Laura Kathleen does not understand what ‘sleek’ means.  She has no understanding of proportions.  Part of me wonders whether she’s on a mission to make every model/woman look like she’s as stumpy as she seems to be (and I’m sure that’s a function of how she styles herself, not her body.)

Anthony Ryan’s is a’ight, especially next to Uli — Uli’s is much better to me.

Emilio is a lucky sumbitch.  I’m glad he’s squeaked through.

    • Stubenville

Oh Laura Kathleen – lots of people would like to beat you.

    • alula_auburn

Anthony Ryan created that length?  WTF?  By the end of the season he’ll be credited with the innovation of pulling thread through two pieces of fabric to connect them.

I felt that snowflake “belt” weirdly drew attention to her crotch, too.

      • Introspective

Lala as irrelevant as she is, was trying to bring up the christmas store obviousness of ARs dress, and the producers kept splicing up what she was saying so that her points came in neutrally rather than as negatively as I think she may have been intending them.

I felt like I was over AR as much as the dress was eye catching so I was just happy to hear that someone wasnt smoking the crack pipe of love for him.

      • guest2visits

Exactly; and considering there were -3- ice princess dresses on the runway,  AnthonyR’s was not at all unique.
        What was so fabulous about the back of his dress (Isaac) that the show didn’t even let the camera do a close-up on it;
just a distant scamper down the RW.

      • Wellworn

Anthony Ryan’s dress was the unattractive and slightly bloated stepsister to Uli’s dress.

    • dschubba

What does LaLa have to do with anything?

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/DBSIHWVY4ECXGNXAXFXJMSCNIE Katrin

“I used garbage!” “We love it!”

    • alyce1213

Credit where due – Josh’s top is beyond fabulous.  I’m old and I want it.  The shorts, however . . .

      • Introspective

That bra was giving me Madge fierceness in her good old Blonde Ambition/Vogue days. I was soooo loving that piece. Boy did he ruin it with that 99 cent store hot skort he made to go with it.

        • blondie65

          Yep…screamed Madonna…but (and I hate to say this)…in a good way

        • 3boysful

Much as I hate to admit it, I loved where Josh was heading with this top.  I hadn’t even thought Madonna, but you’re right.  I was thinking 1940s-50s bra top to a swimsuit.  I was wanting him to make a sassy little skirt to make it a resortwear-type piece.  Then he makes bad shorts and keeps shortening them.

      • Wellworn

I thought that top was the best thing on the runway, but the shorts blew all that to hell.  Loved the look on Isaac’s face when he talked about seeing the model’s privates.  Still glad that Uli won though.

    • BPlease

Holy shit, he said that??   (I tuned in a bit late).  Well, he’s a silly little asshole, isn’t he?

      • Polka_Dotty

Anthony Ryan is in the lead for Fan Favorite???

      • CozyCat

I appreciate the attempt at support for my attack on a completely unsupportable remark.

Serioursly, who do these people think has the money to buy $2000 dresses?  It aint’t the 18 year olds, it’s the 48 year olds!  (if they aren’t dead already, I guess….)

Oh, pobrecito! The withered, wrinkled fingers of 50-yr-olds extending their credit cards must be SO off-putting to one so young and juicy.

    • ChristinaRi

Secrets of the Royal Nursery.   That guy needs to figure things out.  Katherine’s child will most likely NOT be the next king or queen.   Charles and William are next in line.

      • Polka_Dotty

Nah, the Queen will hang on till Charles is long gone.

        • Stubenville

Probably as a talking head in a jar, a la Futurama.

        • formerlyAnon

Yeah, I can’t imagine the complex she must have given him by declining for so many decades to gracefully step down in his favor.  I wondered if she’d make an announcement after her Diamond Jubilee, but it really does seem she doesn’t think he has it in him.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Or maybe she just feels he should wait his turn.  Or he doesn’t want it (which honestly wouldn’t surprise me).  Or she thinks that with the backlash against Camilla, his reign would end up too divisive.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/DBSIHWVY4ECXGNXAXFXJMSCNIE Katrin

Unless there’s a secret inside the nursery that we don’t now… yet! Dun dun dunnnnn

    • Stubenville

      Yay Uli!

    • notdorothygale

      Uli got a cheezy-looking Swatch?????

      • NDC_IPCentral

Wasn’t that one uuuugleee wristwatch?  And fat, too.  I thought it looked like my Ironman chronometer.  If that designer watch is supposed to be all that hotsy, it should be thin-thin.  And it looked like black plastic.  Couldn’t have sprung for trendy pink gold, huh?  Not Breitling, Baume & Mercier or Tag Heuer by a country mile.  I am not sure that Uli was genuinely thrilled, but she vamped over it.

        • guest2visits

Yes; I don’t know what I expected – but it wasn’t that watch.  Uli was all kinds of gracious though.

Hello NDC-IPCentral; I read all your posts and have nothing but awe for your strength, and your candor.
You are a teacher in more ways than one.   *Yes* to a New Year, and a new phase of healing.

Oh no! Not my ploosh poppies! I haz a sad.

    • Polka_Dotty

We had a grab bag of gifts with a min/max of $10. I got a stick-figure snowman thingie. Someone else got a watch.

      • SewingSiren

That reminds me of a secret Santa we did one year at work. I was under the impression that it was supposed to be joke , uh dirty joke.. so I went to a discount store and bought a red satin bikini pantie and a green velvet g-string. I put some mistletoe on the crotch of the green and tied a long ribbon with a jiggle bell to the crotch of the red.  ……….. Well it turns out other people gave things like crochet snowflakes and paper mache angels….  I think everybody knew it was me too……..

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Oh, you should try the Something Store — that’s on our list for next year’s Christmas party.

    • alula_auburn

      Uli is adorable, for reals.

Ooh, Ivy and Casanova at the bottom together.  Intense.  In theory.

    • ChristinaRi

Oh, no.  Sweet little Cassanova.   I will miss him.  He is so lovely.

      • Wellworn

Me too.  I have a sad.  Muy triste (very sad).

    • alula_auburn

Oh, I hate the stupid faceoff challenges.  But I hope Uli demolishes Laura Kathleen.

    • Introspective

Yay uli!! I wasnt in love with a thing on this runway so Im just glad she won because I have always loved her.

Soooo sorry to see Casanova go. And knew that he was leaving this week from the time his fab dress got passed on last week. Love you boo & will miss you lots!! Keep being fab!

    • Joe J

There’s a weird little pattern that’s been going on for the eliminations – for the last five weeks in a row, every designer who’s been eliminated was “in” (neither low/high) the previous week, and a low scorer the week before that.  Check out the elimination table at wikipedia:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Runway:_All_Stars_(season_2)

If the pattern continues next week, then Emilio will be auf’ed.  Which would shock me, given some of the designers still there.

    • VicksieDo

I would have been happy with either AR or Uli for this one. What a hideous watch she won!
Emilio’s wasn’t bad when all was said and done.
Ivy should have gone home, that dress was a disgrace.  At least Casanova did something you haven’t seen before.
Josh’s was gross too, why do people deal with his stuff, it’s soooo tacky!?

    • Introspective

Next week looks like a doozy. Whenever there are faceoffs someone goes home unfairly because the loser in a pair could easily make something better than even the winner of another pair. I HATE that shit. But whatever. This whole season reeks of a set up so Im not surprised this type of challenge is happening…

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/DBSIHWVY4ECXGNXAXFXJMSCNIE Katrin

I agree. Earlier in the season I can live with this. Now someone is going to get screwed.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/6PQUNH7VYANAXMRMEEM763V3EU victor liu

Can Anthony Ryan be the one who gets screwed? Please, Mr. Producers?

    • SewingSiren

      Ain’t Christmas great?

    • BuffaloBarbara

      ¡Ay, Casanova!

I think Emilio only skated through on past success.  Either that or the producers said, “No, no, this is the week we schmauf Casanova.”

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OQG2B3GDOIKSFYT6YDXFVOMEM4 A. Lure

Miss Privileged: As if ironing-board crotches ain’t enough, let’s give women pillowcases with earrings hooked on them.
The watch looked pretty unremarkable to me. I do/have owned far more dazzling ones for A LOT less.

    • l_c_ann

And taxes on that watch…..would make it a whole lot less wonderful.

      • CozyCat

Well, she can pawn it and probably still have enough left over for a pretty nice weekend.  Better than most PR prizes.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

I made a mistake. I think this is the watch. Made of titanium

when the final three were standing there i was screaming hallelujah, as i would have been happy with any of ‘em G to the ONE.

    • bertkeeter

WHAT is CM smoking? AR created “that length” ? You mean just above the KNEE length? Explain?

    • CarolinLA

Once again, Josh proved that he can only create HALF an outfit.  One half (usually the top) is fine and then he creates something so hideous for the other half that it is hard to fathom.  He absolutely should’ve been sent home.

    • CarolinLA

Well, we knew Ivy was gonna say it eventually:  someone (this time it’s AR, not Michael Costello) cheats by getting their ideas from other designers.  Whoever had this episode in the pool, congrats.

    • CarolinLA

Come ON!!!!!  Showing a model’s vaj doesn’t get you eliminated???!!!

      • Girl_With_a_Pearl

Producing crappy looking shorts does.  Or it used to.

        • 3boysful

It should have, but I have to admit that much as Josh is perhaps my least favorite out there, the top he did was fab.  It’s probably remarkable he came up with a short at all, since he thought he had a roll of fabric that was in fact a Hanukah flag.

      • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

It never really did. Remember Zulema?

    • guest2visits

I’ve almost come to terms with the  bitter, bitter reality;  Emilio is not going to final three.  How can he – he hasn’t had enough
wins or good designs to justify a spot, as much as I hate to admit.  O despair. How can this be.  Or; WTF EMILIO.
What a lucky dog, tonight. I loved his original butterfly-bodice, that was scrapped.  The woven ribbon should have been
spectacular; but is was meh, and the design was awkward.  Bottom 3 with Ivy and Casanova.
Casanova spliced 3 or 4 different dresses together, any one of which would probably have been a hundred times more interesting
and more attractive than Ivy’s odd little yellow box with an keyhole as an after thought. ALL of Casanova’s discarded designs
were more impressive than Ivy’s lack luster effort (I mean Ivy’s ‘tasteful perspective’).  She should have been auf’d.
Joshua’s top was really stellar; he could have sent the model down the RW in her own panties and he would still have been safe.
(Victoria’s Secret needs Josh’s inventions for the next televised event).  Especially since he had basically nothing, at the start.
Uli’s, Anthony’s, and LauraK’s were a similar dress in color and desgin.  Each dress had an icy frost in silver or silver and gold.
The judges nit picked Uli’s and Laura’s; but not AnthonyR’s mirrored bodice area which didn’t hang right. I saw nothing wrong
with the length of Uli’s hem, and Laura’s was no more weighty than Anthony’s mirrored fabrics.  They were all good.
But I especially liked the way Uli worked with her materials, and the side panels for this fantasy dress were pretty and helped
make the dress something different from the other 2.    I’m glad she got the win.

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

He’s had 2 wins, and a couple other top slots.  Easily up there in the top scorers.

        • guest2visits

Are my expectations too high -? I just thought he’d be sweeping it.  And Ivy is still there.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

You have no idea the depths of my ire that Ivy is there and Kayne is not.

    • Girl_With_a_Pearl

That’s an interesting chart Joe J.  My money’s on Ivy, but you’re right about Emilio given the pattern and that would be shocking and just so wrong.

    • 3boysful

You know what was interesting?  Because of the Christmas store, this was a runway with NO BLACK!   Possibly a FIRST IN PROJECT RUNWAY HISTORY?
And it shows the importance of selecting materials as much for color story as workability:  whites and metallics=good; purple or mustard, not so much; and random multi-colors=don’t go there.

    • MoHub

Zonked right after they hit the workroom and woke up just in time to see Casanova cleaning up his station. Will read all the recaps and try to catch a rerun later.
