Kirsten Dunst in Christian Dior

Posted on December 14, 2012

We really love this look. And some of you ladies are going to be SO HAPPY.

Kirsten Dunst attends the premiere of ‘On The Road’ in New York City in head-to-toe Christian Dior.

Christian Dior Spring 2013 Collection/Model: Anna Martynova (NEXT)

Christian Dior Spring 2013 Collection

We know how much many of the Bitter Kittens detest the vogue for bare legs year round, so we clapped our little gay hands in glee when we saw she was sporting a truly fabulous pair of ultra-sheer hose. They look amazing on her and they make her legs look incredible. The shoes are KILLA.

Yes, this dress is a bit sack-like and hangs off her, but we don’t mind. It’s beautifully tailored and the color looks fabulous on her. It’s got a relaxed-chic vibe to it that sets off her legs and those shoes perfectly.

We’re not at all crazy about her hair and makeup, though. Can’t have everything all the time, we suppose. Life would be so boring if we did.

  • She looks cute, love the shoes! I do detest hose though, not the way it looks, I hate WEARING hose 😉

    • Esz

I recommend stockings! Much more comfortable – and not the nasty ‘stay-up’ type either!

  • Judy_J

Those hose are so fabulously sheer that they’re not even an issue with the open toes on the shoes!

    • Dot

Are the hose she is wearing toe-less? I feel like you can see her actual toes here. — unless I’m crazy!

      • You know, maybe. I blew this image up to ridic proportions and damn if her toes don’t look nude. I just don’t know.

      • Mismarker

Good eye.  I think you’re right!

        • Corsetmaker

So they are. They won’t be toeless, apart from that fishnets have a habit of making themselves that way. Anyway, nothing wrong with fishnets and open shoes in my opinion.

          • zenobar

“They won’t be toeless, apart from that fishnets have a habit of making themselves that way.”  TRUTH.  I lol’d!

      • librarygrrl64

         I thought the same thing.

      • Corsetmaker

Toe-less tights are usually skin tones though, or else it would look a bit odd having toes that don’t match your legs 🙂 Those look black or barely black. If they’re very sheer they’ll be hardly visible though. I hope they aren’t toe-less, they annoy me a little unless the hosiery is practically invisible – I mean, you have tights/stockings on we can see that, so be honest about it when it gets to the toes 😀

        • Magatha

You’re right about the toe-less hose usually being skin tones, but we mustn’t forget that this is a Red Carpet Kiki Hollywood Big Star Zone, and that quite possibly some clever hosiery engineering tricks were used, like cutting of the toe bits, sealing the raw edges with space-age nano-epoxy, and gently taping and/or gluing the sealed edges to her toe-covering shoe-strap and possibly again at the arch. These leg-coverings are to be worn one time only. The look works for me, but I don’t think I will be trying this at home.

          • Kayceed

I’m exhausted just thinking about it. Wouldn’t it be easier to wear closed-toe shoes?

      • That’s what I was thinking, too, because her toes aren’t the same color as her legs.

      • LambeeBaby

I have a pair of toeless sheers. They are splendid…those of us over 40 need to mute some of our flaws.

    • shirab

I was just looking carefully at her feet for that very reason, and I think it appears that the hose don’t actually cover the toes. This confuses me.

      • They now make hose that keep the toes open. I haven’t tried them, but I have seen them.

        • librarygrrl64

IMO, they only work if the hose match your skin tone exactly, or if the hose are VERY sheer, like these are.

          •  But how do they stay in place? Tape? I don’t know – I like the way her legs look – the hose are great – but toes or no toes it’s incongruous to me. That we are talking about it is example enough of its distraction.

          • marigi

Some of them have a thong, a bit like wearing a flip-flop. They look really uncomfortable, though!

          • librarygrrl64

Exactly. I’d rather just skip the hose or wear a closed-toe shoe.

          • J. Preposterice

I’ve worn them; they aren’t any more uncomfy than regular hose.

          • Kate4queen

they have a really thin loop of stocking thread that goes around the big toe which holds them in place. 🙂

          • Monabel

Can someone explain why? Just, why?

          • kimmeister

There are many reasons.  My main reason for having deployed toeless stockings in the past is because I wanted the stockings to prevent friction/blistering, yet the shoes were open-toed.

      • Aurumgirl

They’re fishnets in a “nightshade” colour.  You can pull the seam at the toe down so your toes cover it, and they will look uncovered.

  • She looks better than she has in ages. The color is fab on her and the dress is so simple, elegant and chic. I love the sheer hose with those incredible (I’m salivating over them) shoes but I wonder if there’s a secret to avoiding having your big toe almost instantly puncture the hose, especially in such high heels. If there is a secret, someone please fill me in.

    • kimmeister

I keep my toenails trimmed as short as possible and even file down the upper edge of the big toenail, which helps, but I still regularly get holes in the big toes.  🙁

  • Mismarker

Never thought I would be typing these words: I love those sheer hose.  Those shoes look like torture.  Would still cut her for them.

  • schadenfreudelicious

praise the hose, this bitter Canadian kitten cannot even fathom exposing her bare pasty legs to the harsh December air!

    • Mismarker

I’m with you! It gets pretty cold where I live but we’ve got nothing on Canada.  Stay warm!

  • mmc2315

Pretty!  As her virtual stylist I’d advise a high ponytail and some neck jewelry.  The hose are elegant.

  • I am actually digging on the PR /Handler/Flack’s leather pants, boots and cape. Holla!

  • Pants_are_a_must

Compared to the sartorial atrocities Kristen Stewart was committing right next to her in the premieres, she looks like the epitome of restrained Parisian class.

Also, I want that hosiery company’s name.

    • l_c_ann

Kristen Stewart in the abomination of the decade next to this….Kristen’s holiday gift to Kirsten.

    • Michael K over at Dlisted has a photo of the two standing together (hilarious) and it looks like Miss Kiki is wearing fishnets with a fine netting. I have a few like that and they do give a subtle elegance.

  • I love it all, but I wished she would have worn a statement necklace.  She’s doing much better these days with her clothes.

  • Sara__B

The sheer hose are the only thing I like — her legs looks fabulous — but they shouldn’t be paired with open toe shoes. The loose low-cut coat dress doesn’t work with her lousy posture, and her hair is a complete mess. I only like this look from hem to ankle.

  • filmcricket

Her legs do look great, but that’s about all you can say. The dress thickens her waist and makes it look as though she’s gone back to her bra-less wonder days that no one misses. Her hair is atrocious. The proportions of everything seem a bit off. She’s #2 on my irrational hate list, so grain of salt, but yeah: great legs, great colour, and scene.

  • Her hair really takes it down a lot for me. That super chic coat dress needs a super polished hair style to go with.  The casual California girl hair isn’t working.

    • Sobaika

Agreed, the hair is a bit of a mess. It wasn’t raining so I think it’s meant to look that way. Makeup is also rather harsh.

    • Introspective

my first thought on seeing the hair and makeup was that she looks tired. exhausted even. it literally made me unable to focus on the clothes for a few secs. which means it must be bad.

that said, the coat dress is pretty and the gams are smoking, which the hose sets off quite nicely. so not a bad effort. take notes for next time kiki

  • altalinda

The raggedy hair and bad posture kill it for me.

  • JulieTy

Hose are good. They add polish. I can almost bear the sheer black, but HOSE WITH OPEN-TOED SHOES????
P.S. These could be the truly heinous toeless hose, designed (shudder) to be worn with sandals.

    • Kayceed

I agree. I can’t sign off on hose with open-toed shoes. It makes me cringe.

  • Judy_S

It’s a pity about the hair and makeup–fixing either one would have made a big difference. How can you put on hose but not bother to brush your hair?

  • Corsetmaker

I love that coat dress. I like how it’s only a step away from a jacket. Agree her hair isn’t too great though.

  • Beardslee

Tom and Lorenzo, you forgot to mention LONG SLEEVES!  Those plus the hose make her look like she knows what season she is in.  She looks great but those shoes are making her lovely legs and feet go all wonky.  Look at the side view photo.  Ouch.

  • SewingSiren

    Top to toe lovely.

  • I am just so happy that non-platforms are back. Merry freakin’ Christmas indeed.
And I love the dress too.

  • oh, I didnt know this is a dress, I thought it was a coat, and she needed to wear a dress underneath.

  • E. D.

    Love everything but the hair.

  • decormaven

Thank heavens! See how hosiery can smooth a look and set off a pair of killer shoes to perfection? There’s a reason to wear them, dammit! Gorgeous ring, excellent frock, nice pedi- why couldn’t the stylist get the hair looking as great? This is too dressy a look for that messy hair.

  • I love the outfit but I can’t with that lipstick.

  • From close-ups that I’ve seen of Kirsten, it appears she’s either wearing fishnets or diamond patterned hose. They are not toe-less. I think they actually look good, even with the shoes, which I covet dearly. Wish she’d done something more with her hair, though.

  • marigi

She looks great, and the last two seasons of Dior represent some of the most chic and modern fashion there is. BUT! The hose she’s wearing, while fabulous, are purely an accessory because it wouldn’t keep her warm at all. So this is equal to bare legs when it comes to climate. And I wouldn’t be surprised if we found out they were sprayed on…

  • RedRaven617

As gorgeous as her legs look in the hose (and I think they do), by the end of the night there will be snags and runs that deem them unwearable a second time. I love hose, but good hose is too damn expensive and short lived.

  • nancylee61

You are correct, TLo, I LOVE the hose. She looks chic and polished. Not farty at all!!

  • MarissaLG

I would have liked a necklace with this, but I think she looks really cool.

  • j_anson

Yesterday I was looking at pre-Fall collections with models wearing tights, and thinking, it’s official: we’re allowed to wear tights with open-toed shoes. All the collections are doing it.

But now it’s REALLY official. TLo have spoken. 🙂

I’m not so crazy about this look, though. I think you can EITHER have a dress that’s deliberately tailored as if it doesn’t quite fit, OR you can have messy hair and a shiny face, but if you do both together it just looks like you bought a too-big dress and didn’t bother with styling.

  • l_c_ann

AND she added a bit of modesty by using a safety pin or something to make the front opening not plunge all the way to her belly button.  (The runway version is a lot lower cut.)

  • alyce1213

    Yay!   Beautiful, sheer, sexy hosiery!

Great look for her, and I love those shoes. I can’t wear shoes like that anymore, but I covet them.

    Did I say Yay?

  • Monday1900

Great modernization of the New Look–I love everything except her hair (although I must say, those shoes look insanely uncomfortable).  Love Kirsten!

  • Carly Warnock

Did she get extensions for volume? Curious. Her normally limp hair looks thicker.

Shoes are perfect. I kind of like the loose coat dress thing she has going on.

  • Those shoes w/ the bowed-out heels always make me wonder what would happen if they collapsed.  Celeb down!!!

  • SapphoPoet

That’s a beautiful color on her. I only wonder if that coat dress would look better with a jeweled belt to define the waist? Anyway, she looks wonderful and kudos for wearing hose.

  • LOVE this look. She is so chic.

  • The safety pin is killing it for me.  She took thousands of dollars of beautiful designer clothing, hours of work with various stylists, and topped it off with a safety pin dead center on her body.  Big fail.  If you can’t get it altered, then wear something else. I’m absolutely certain she had choices.  So cheapens the whole thing.

    Love the hose though.

  • BayTampaBay

Is she wearing hose that allows your toes to “pop out” for open toed shoes?  It looks as if nothing is covering her toes.

If so, What is the brand name and where do you get them.

  • Annabelle Archer

    Go on Kiki!

  • B_C_J

The shoes are divine. The coat dress is simply too baggy. Her figure is completely obscured in it.  However, the model wears it exactly the same way so I guess I am simply not agreeing with the design vision. The hair should definitely be more finished.

  • but her toes…oh…everyone noticed that already ! 😉

  • Kyle Crawford

The shoes are off the charts good.. and I love the dress, but something seems off – I think its just a tailoring issue… or is that , the bulk of the dress, the ” look ” ?

  • formerlyAnon

Yup. Hosiery like that ain’t cheap, but it’s well worth the price, even for folks shopping far under Ms. Dunst’s budget.

I LOVE this. It’s going in my theoretical scrapbook (in real life: shoebox).

    • I use “inspiration image” folders on my computer that cycle through my desktop bg. ;P

  • kategs

the photo showing just the shoe isn’t her foot.  She had a pedicure and that foot doesn’t.

  • BPlease

I love this look — I like the relaxed hair and makeup with the stunning, formal coatdress, shoes and hose.

  • Those hose are awesome!

  • I like the “bulk” of the dress. It’s very in quotes about it, like giving us fierce A-line all the way. Totally her color.

  • msdamselfly

I think her neck looks to bare

  • Kate4queen

    Nice 🙂

  • guest2visits

This is a fantastic look for Kristen.  Love the Dior dress, lucky girl.

    • guest2visits

I should add: I never noticed the pinning together of the lapel – I thought it was a two button dress.
It SHOULD have been a two button dress, the alternative was not a very good solution.

  • Tamara Hogan

I don’t like the dress at all, but the hose and shoes are FABOO.

  • Very cute Kiki!

  • teensmom99

Sorry–I think forgot to put on the pencil skirt or trim pants that came with this.

  • MilaXX

    I like the entire look.

  • bertkeeter

Sleeves too long , hemline too short and what’s with the way it closes? Very awkward.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Helen Mirren, Barbra….go get those hose, now! Fabulous. Good hose makes a girl look prettier. Is Kiki expecting? That’s the only reason I’d wear a dress that hung like that, if I were a young, gorgeous ladystar, that is.

  • I would so wear that dress. She looks great. Those are some super sheer hose!

  • nannypoo

I like this a lot. There’s something odd about the closure at the boobs. I wonder if I would like it more with some kind of camisole (or whatever fashionistas wear – how would I know?) and no boob closure. Great shoes. Crappy hair.

  • quiltrx

My eye is twitching at the obvious gapping between the snap (please tell me it’s a snap not a safety pin!) and the button.

Otherwise, love the dress, love the hose, love the shoes.  Brush the hair and go for a softer lip, KiKi!

  • Love and need the dress. Hate wearing hose, but there is not question that your legs look better in them. I never stopped wearing them (except with a sun dress). They had to come back. I hope this is the end of the shiny, greasy leg look.

  • Vaniljekjeks

I love sheer hose, but they have a lifetime of about 30 seconds if I put them on in my house.  I have cats.  Enough said.

  • ccm800

I LOVE that fit And when a lady looks fantastic and gets some breathing room – all hail. This color is wonderful on a cool blonde and the shoulders and legs do the work instead of tits and ass – which is extra credit.

  • AnnPopovic

That dress is too short. It’s TOO SHORT. You look at it and before your brain can register “oh, it’s supposed to be that way”, you gasp a little bit, like “ohoh! She’s got her skirt caught up in her panties”.
    It’s TOO SHORT.

  • Mazenderan

    Hurrah!! Tights!

  • DeTrop

Love that dress. Love the shoes.

  • Jenny Bee

Nothing is so frequent as to mistake an ordinary human gift for a special and extraordinary endowment.

  • Mary229

I adore the sheer hose.   The bottom line is that for those of us that live in colder climates it’s just out of place, not practical and frankly tacky to go around with bare legs in short skirts in the middle of the damn winter.  And people just love to shame those of us that still wear hose but the reality is….in some circles—-yes even URBAN circles (I’m from Philly just like TLo)  it’s not proper to go out in the middle of December in a short dress with nothing on your legs.

  • aquamarine17

love the nylons, love wearing them, too. the dress works.

  • 909girl601world

Hmmm.  I think she looks less than wonderful. That dress looks like the longer version of a suit jacket my mom owned in the 80s. I hate pantyhose, so I’ll never be on that team.  And those shoes look odd on her foot.  Eh.

  • RocknRollmom

Dress looks too maternity top-ish for my tastes.  Well those tops from back in the day when pregnant women didn’t wear tight form fitting clothes that let us know when the belly button has popped out.  Every time I see an pregnant woman in one of those form fitting tops/dresses, my belly itches in sympathy (so don’t miss that)…ok, I wildly digress.  Anyway, the shoes and hose are beyond wonderful. Color is nice but the dress is a poorly cut sack on her.

  • DebbieLovesShoes

I too, love seeing hose again.  Didn’t the Princess (aka “Cathy Cambridge”) bring back that trend?
