  • No on the hair and NO on the shellacked face. I really like KP, but does she not have a “natural” look?!

    • Sobaika

She just came from a Ran Faire and I think this is her attempt at a natural face.

    • hyperionic

Nope. Without the pancake face she wouldn’t even be Katy Perry anymore.

    •  Doesn’t she have problems with acne? I wouldn’t hold the face too much against her.

  • formerlyAnon

Love the clutch. It goes well with the hair. (ETA: Meaning, very Snow White.) Dress is too much of a dull color.

    • charlotte

She wouldn’t be Katy Perry if she wasn’t channeling someone!

    • 3boysful

I was going to write that she looks like she just did a guest turn on Once Upon a Time.

      • Come on, the costumes on Once Upon a Time would “Alpha girl” this whole look into a weepy, fetal position puddle and, rightly so. Wrong color, and possibly wrong size for Perry; the result is unflattering. Furthermore, my hatred of that hair couldn’t be outmatched if it was somehow responsible for green-lighting the “Red Dawn” remake.

        • formerlyAnon

Excellent mini-rant. I love when something launches one of us into full flow.

    • H2olovngrl

M very first thought was modern day Snow White.

  • teensmom99

Okay, I know Katie’s been toning it down a bit, but mother of the bride?  That’s just a little too far, sweetheart.

  • Does she have The Sad?

    • MrsMaxPower

If I were dating John Mayer I’d probably have The Sad…and it would probably be the least of my worries. 😉

    • justineyy

Scrolling down I just kept thinking dump him girl!! You’ll feel SO much better!

  • BeeBeauNYC

She needs some color. Not loving the Swiss Miss hair.

  • TLJezebel

    Tight sparkly band-aid.

  • lovelyivy

That hair is just awful on her, I’m having a hard time looking beyond it at the tube of beige effect she’s got going on with that unfortunate dress.

    • formerlyAnon

Which is fine, since that tube of beige has nothing to offer but waves of dull.

  • rloliveira

    Posture, Katy, posture!

    • MoHub

Needs a far better bra. No one that young should sag that much.

  • gabbilevy

One of her personal worsts, I think. I *hate* the hair, not a fan of the face, and the dress isn’t that flattering. And I’m usually a big fan of Miss Katy.

  • First of all, the color is horrid on her and her makeup, which was trying to compensate for this, just made it worse.

The Maid Marian hair is pretty awful as well. A dress like this, if it had been a color other than putty, deserves a simple updo.

I do like the clutch though!

  • The dress makes her look like an uncooked bratwurst, and she’s definitely not shaped like a bratwurst.

  • I like beaded dresses. I like Katy Perry.

I do not like Katy Perry in this beaded dress. It seems really unflattering to my eyes. Devastated.

  • MightyMarshal

I kinda love it. She’s been really toni g it down a lot lately, and I think it works, especially post break up. This calls back to the Wide Awake video very much, so I’m assuming moving forward she’ll be center parting her hair and going more understated for awhile. She’s clearly still mourning her failed marriage, and I think this illustrates that. I like when celebs dress for the current state of their lives. It makes them more human and east to relate to.

  • This is pretty tame for her, but I wish we didn’t see her spanx

  • Oh, that little bag is amazing! Not loving her hair and make up though. She looks sad.

  • ojosazules

The dress has a mottled sausage aspect that is not helped by whatever that is she is using as a slip.

    • Dhammadina

I was just thinking that: ugh, she has been stuffed into a transparent (albeit festive) sausage casing.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

Mottled sausage is never a good look!

    • In_Stitches

       It’s the wurst.

      • ojosazules

        You have me in stitches.

      • zenobar

Heehee!  That was sort of bratty.

  • Beautiful dress (although I would have preferred a longer slip) & beautiful clutch — but not together. And what’s up with the braid-as-headband?

  • Oh honey no.
    And your beiges clash.

  • I miss Crazy Katy.

  • SophiaPehawkins

I love the clutch and her hair. The dress is okay, but it doesn’t do much for her.

  • LJCdoc

That is so not her dress.

  • That’s a hell of a dress, but I think it would better serve someone less busty and more lanky like Paltrow.

  • marilyn

It is a little too tight, but overall glamorous.  Kudos.

  • sarah jacobs

    Looks very MOB to me.

  • Judy_J

What’s with Katy all of a sudden, sporting all these demure styles? She’s a bit too curvy for that dress, and the color is all wrong.  I do love that apple clutch, though!

  • Katy … send this dress to Taylor Swift ASAP. It’s hers and not yours. That little apple clutch is quite adorable, however. Maybe she picked it to go with the Snow White hair?

  • BuffaloBarbara

I seem to be in the minority, but I like the hair.  It’s simple and pretty.

The dress seems a little long for her.  I know long dresses are supposed to skim the floor, but I don’t think they’re supposed to actually pool on it, which makes her look a little stumpy.

  • AnnPopovic

The nicest thing I can say about this is that her clutch goes with her hair.

What I really want to know is…is that some kind of garter floating around somewhere between her knees and her ankles? Very odd.

  • V V

I think we can safely add her to the list of beautiful people who should never, ever part their hair straight down the middle…ever. The dress isn’t too offensive but combined with her hair and general demeanor she looks like a post-drowning Ophelia coming to quickly and beige-ly haunt Hamlet before changing back into sweatpants.

  • padma sallah

Give me the sparkly tacky Katy Perry any day. This looks so dull and she looks so sad. It’s like the dress, her hair and her face are drooping in unison.

  • FrayedMachine

Am I the only one who feels like she looks incredibly uncomfortable? Or she at least most certainly does not want to be there.

  • The Frump Patrol is coming to get her.

  • MoHub

    Marchesa. Must. Be. Stopped.

  • Rand Ortega

    Sequined sausage casing. No likey.

  • Jane Fonda wants her dress back.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

What’s the word TLO uses for “amping up the hair” a bit – zhuzing??  Something like that.  The hair is glum…

  • Imasewsure

Gorgeous dress but not on her…. makes her look chunky and she is not. How you can make an elegant beaded gown look frumpy is also beyond me but this she has achieved! Next incarnation please, KT!

  • Qitkat

No. She’s too young for bad MOB.

  • warnerave

she doesn’t look confident wearing that dress…

  • mmc2315

The color is drab, but my big complaint is the lining bunching under the dress.

Her skin looks perfect.  I wonder what foundation she uses.

  • renad

OMG, a Marchesa dress I don’t want to burn to the ground! Although it does HER no favors. Oh, and that clutch is the bomb.

  • B_C_J

The dress is too tight. It is riding up in a couple of areas. The hair is too curtain-like and is doing her no favors. Finally, the makeup looks heavy. She has looked better.

  • MilaXX

I love this dress and bag, but it’s not her dress. Katy does a great job of supporting her boobs in the things she wears, but she’s too short and curvy for this look. The dress clings in all the wrong places and the hem is too long and looks sloppy.

  • Trisha26

That gown requires an updo. And what’s with the undergarment making those lines? Unflattering.

  • susan6

This is how a candle-shop owner from Taos dresses for a formal evening event.  Katy needs to stop with this crunchy-granola persona, it doesn’t suit her.  I mean, if there’s one person in the world who can get away with day-glo colors, it’s her….leave the flesh toned dresses for Oscar grubbing actresses.

  • jw_ny

The beige under garments ruin the dress…not that it would have been stellar or noteworthy otherwise.  A fully lined version in a softer pink to match her skin tone may have been pretty.  Her hair and hair band (braid) are not right for this gown either.  With the apple purse and that hairstyle, it almost feels like she wanted to go for a storybook/Snow White type look…but that dress isn’t at all in that vein.

  • amf0001

I love Miss Katy when she is being playful,  but there is nothing playful here… this dress is for a far smaller chested girl – a 20’s gibson girl and Miss Katy is more Edwardian…
Love the clutch!  don’t know what you would fit into it,  but it’s cute.

  • ooh, i love the hair!

  • It’s just not her dress. And it offends me that the clutch isn’t red or green. I demand literal interpretation of my apples, dammit.

  • Is it me or is the hair a couple of shades too dark? Or maybe it’s too uniformly dark, without the natural variations in shade? Or maybe her makeup takes her face to a tone that’s not quite right? I keep thinking how much prettier she would look if her hair were just a few shades closer to brown instead of black.

  • NO. Give me the clutch.

  • Jillaine13

Does she have a bandage dress on underneath?  While she goes to check herself I’ll just hold the precious apple clutch for her.

  • TieDye64

The little clutch is adorable. Not digging all the nude gown at all.

  • crash1212

Lord, when the lining of your dress is all bunched up, perhaps your dress is a wee bit too tight? Jeez. Love the clutch, but this looks is a big old dud for me.

  • decormaven

Quick, take a bite of the apple purse, so you can transition from this hideous look.

  • Oh dear, so, so matronly.

  • ankali

Dress: blech, so boring. Boobs: have to start being better supported. Hair: SO FUCKING SHINY OMG I HATE HER.

  • i like the idea here, but that dress just doesnt go with her skin-tone.
    the clutch is dead-fabulous, though.

  • DCSheehan

Oh Katy, why? This makes you look old and lumpy. Marchesa is good for only one thing and that thing is starting fires.

  • bertkeeter

  • nannypoo

Snow White and the Two Low-Slung Boobs.

  • quiltrx

Up a size, please.  Cool clutch.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Hm, I could totally see her in that same dress Alice Temperley wore on PR.  Now that would be gorgeous.

That make-up is lacquered da fuq on. It creates the effect of a very creepy porcelain doll and dear GOD is that headband made from her own braided hair?

  • Poor Katy. She was on such a roll for a while. The color does nothing for her, and the lace overlay (and the underlying slip/lining) is doing something wonky.

The Heidi hair is cute by itself, but doesn’t go with the dress or event.

  • that dress is all ’30s ennui.  ms. p is way too buxom and bombshelly for it.

  • Northern_Light_27

She’s too beautiful and has too sparkly a personality to hide her light under this sad, tired, ugly bushel of a dress. Please put some color back in your life, Katy, it might make you feel better.

  • The dress seems a little mature for her.

  • bluefish

  • TAGinMO

    Snow Neutral.

  • LeifBallard

Sorry Katy looks better on the model

  • guest2visits

Wrong hair for this delicate gown.  Might be the tiniest bit tight too. Cute apple clutch; but I think it may not be the right
    choice for this dress.
