Someone’s hairline is mysteriously filling in. Who’s responsible? Photoshop or Rogaine?

    • MilaXX

       some from column A…..

    • berkeleygirl

According to the accompanying article, he had his hairline altered for Anna Karenina.  Growing back?

      • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

Sure. Let’s go with “growing back.” 😀

        • allaboutthewalterbenjamins

At the same time a bald monkey shivers in the nights of Madagascar.

i’m not mad at it. it’s pretty obvious he’s done SOMETHING but i like my jude law with a bit of hair.

  • AuntJentie

    Not one picture smiling?

  • http://www.facebook.com/fiddlecub Kevin VanOrd

    That coat. Want.

    That man. Want.

    • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Somebody needs some homemade tea and biscuits! C’min from the cold, Jude!

  • Inspector_Gidget

What’s he surprised or worried about?

  • DeTrop

He’s aces in my book.  Just saw Anna Karenina. Loved it but beware it’s Tolstoy Lite.  JL was excellent but he looks ever so much more sexy in these pics.

    • Rand Ortega

I just love the idea of any movie where Jude Freakin’ Law is the ugly guy.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

I know, right? I assumed he HAD to be Vronsky, but apparently not…

        • l v

I so wish he HAD been… That guy was just… NOT Vronsky for me.

      • editrixie

Did you ever read stuff about making The Road to Perdition? I can’t remember if it was the director or producer or what, but they talked about how hard it was to ugly up Jude Law — they “tried to hit him with the ugly stick” as hard as they could, but it was very difficult.

Trivia: The photographer of these pictures (Sam Taylor Johnson) is married to his Anna Karenina co-star Aaron Taylor Johnson. He’s the 22 year old who plays Vronsky. She is the 45 year old who directed him in Nowhere Boy when he was 19. They have two kids. The whole thing is mind-bogglingly wild.

      • Rand Ortega

I remember when it first happened. Tongues didn’t merely wag, they fell out of people’s mouths! I love it. Just saw them in Vogue recently & they look great together. No 1 bats in eye when Catherine Zeta Jones marries Michael Douglas. Nice to see examples of women continuing to establish a position of power in this culture where they’re free to be w/ whomever they want regardless of age, race, gender, etc.
        (Hope I didn’t get too political : ))

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/GZETLYE67HA4WXILJ72I7UCCJY Jennifer

To be fair, CZJ wasn’t 19 when she met Michael Douglas. True, if a 19 year-old woman started dating her 45 year-old male director, it wouldn’t be AS scandalous, but it’s also not totally acceptable.

          • Rand Ortega

No argument from me. While 19 is adulthood, Soon Yi Previn Allen still comes to mind (though those circumstances are infinitely more ick inducing).

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sarah-Lang/616938996 Sarah Lang

I’m with you to a certain extent, but as Jennifer says, when one party is a teenager (male or female), it could be considered fairly skeevy. Put it this way – rich, gorgeous, creative types get a spread in Vogue; ordinary folks from the Midwest get called pervy cougars. :) But hey, good luck to them.

        • H3ff

I remember a lot of fuss being kicked up over the age difference when CZJ married Michael Douglas.

      • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

…and Aaron Taylor Johnson was the lead in Kick Ass.  He’s one beautiful guy…

  • kimmeister

At least we’re getting variety of facial expression!

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Never do the upclose face shots in b&w, people – you need to see his blue eyes!!
He’s losing some of the fabulous angles of his face as he ages – the beard is OK, but it’s not helping.  I don’t see enough JUDE.

  • StellaZafella

    Me likey all the clothes.
Me likey the man wearing them, too…keep both of your ears on, Vincent.

  • Anathema_Device

He’s looking really different to me these days. Is it the beard? Weight? Age? No criticism implied. He is still handsome as all get out, he just looks different to me.

    • MilaXX

agreed different, but better. Like a proper grown up.

    • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

It’s totally age, but in a really good way. Happening to Ben Affleck, too.

  • jilly_d

I have thought he was hot ever since “Music from Another Room”, but man, I have really gained a lot of respect for him through his recent roles (crazy opportunist in “Contagion”, Dr. Watson).  Can’t wait to see him in AK.

  • MilaXX

I like him so much better ow that he has grown out of the pretty boy phase.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I was thinking the same thing-the years are treating him well.

    • ChicaDificil

These pictures remind me why I thought he was so hot.  I liked the pretty boy phase but yeah this is much better.  I’m feeling the scruff, more manly- yum!

  • gabbilevy

This has me giggling. In some shots, he looks downright dour, and in others, goofy. The goofy shots (third and last) are fun, and I like the cover, but I don’t love the others.

Although if I saw that last picture alone, I would think it was a picture of Gerard Butler. Maybe it’s the beard.

    • tereliz

The goofy shots are winning me over, and I am kind of meh about Law to start with. Love the one where he’s apparently trying to click his heels together in the air, but comes across as his bid for the Presidency of the Ministry of Silly Walks.

And the fog on the window shot is just plain fun.

  • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

I think I just dropped an egg.

  • e jerry powell

Ye gods, he looks male.  I guess I have to be gay for him now.  I was so hesitant before.

  • alyce1213

He’s on my irrational hate list of douche bags.

    • Qitkat

I detested him for years after The Talented Mr. Ripley,
til I realized I just hated the movie. So much. At some point later I
realized he was a pretty good actor, and seemed to grow up from his
      douche bag phase.

  • Trisha26

If I were wearing expensive stuff like that (even on loan) I’d at least wash my hair. Love him.

  • Imasewsure

Pictures are fun but he looks like Hemingway. Still Jude Law is one of those guys I always enjoy looking at.

  • pugluv

    Yummy man….

  • http://www.facebook.com/mwwgrimm Mariah W Grimm

    He is relentlessly attractive.

  • Jackie4g

Aging well, I would say. Very pretty, almost too pretty as a young man, he’s still quite good looking now. One of the color shots should have shown those incredible blue eyes, I  missed seeing them.

  • judybrowni

Beards: I’m officially tired of beards.

Especially on pretty boys and men with faces I’d like to see!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=509434130 Michelle Le

    “Hermès shirt, $1,025”
    …excuse me?

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Right? I laughed out loud (OK, more like snorted with derision) when I saw that price tag. Come on. It’s a freakin’ SHIRT, FFS. Is the cloth woven by vestal virgins who shed tears of gold?

      • sharonimus

I just shed tears of laughter for at least 5 solid minutes after reading your comment. You hit the nail on the head!

  • siriuslover

Wow, not ONE of those pictures looks like the Jude Law I know. It’s a nice photoshoot, but kind of weird. And TLo, you hit the nail on the head with Van Gogh. That first picture looks like that famous VG self portrait.

  • crash1212

He’s not my kind of pretty, but that last picture is pretty adorable.

  • http://twitter.com/vintagesewing Vtg Fashion Library

Wonderful actor, but I can’t do anything but think man-whore when I see him.

I’m irrationally in love with him – I think in part because he’s British. I suppose he would be on my Irrational Love[/Lust] List?

    • MilaXX

You know? I think we need irrational love lists. It could be for those celebs who’s movies we’d never see, can’t act and may not be that smart but we love them anyway. Then again, I guess that everyone not on the irrational hate list.

      • Kate4queen

The Rock is on my irrational love list, just sayin’… :)

Jude Law is certainly on that list for me. I only ever saw one movie that had him in it (Contagion) and I was not impressed. He did a fine job acting in it, but that movie as a whole? Blech. Still, he causes little hearts to float and pop above my head.

  • Lisa_Cop

He’s too damn handsome to have a beard covering his gorgeous features.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Is Jude Law is better with age? Hmmm…

  • cleverlady

Let’s hear it for this Sam Taylor Johnson for taking interesting and fun photos of JL.  He looks like a human being –yes, a handsome, talented one,  wearing really natty clothes — rather than a posing movie star.

  • PeggyOC

He’s never done it for me, trouser-movement wise, but he can act, and that shows in these shots.  It’s not just one picture after another of pretty staring into space.  The beard is regrettable, though.

  • http://twitter.com/tangodiva Tanya Wade

He was the best thing in Anna K. Well, that and the costumes. Nice shots here – the receding hairline becomes him, dare I say?

  • AnnPopovic

Please make shaving a sign of intelligence, wit, wealth, a big dick and anything and everything anyone would EVER want…’cause I’m DYING over here with the scruffy faces. Ugh. I just hate it! HATE it! He looks pervy here. And that makes me SAD.

  • decormaven

I’m not getting the style of this shoot. Is he penitent, begging for forgiveness, bonkers, or just a silly kid in a man’s body? And none of the fashions are speaking to me. That Hermes shirt? The way it’s styled, he could be wearing a Dickies work shirt.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Anyone else getting a Hugh Laurie vibe from him?

    • julnyes

The fifth picture is definitely flirting in Laurie (as House) territory.

  • http://profiles.google.com/denise.alden Denise Alden

I’ve irrationally hated Jude Law for years, but man, aging really suits him.  I almost like him now.

  • Louise Bryan

He is much better looking in these pictures than I recall of him.

  • ccm800

  • KathKo

Yes, the beard work as well as the moustache.
    Love him !
