Gerard Butler in Calvin Klein

Posted on December 07, 2012

And now… a delicious man in a delicious suit…

Gerard Butler makes an appearance on ‘Good Morning America’ in Calvin Klein.

… that doesn’t quite fit him correctly. That jacket’s pulling all over and those pants are weirdly balloon-y in the hip and crotch. A shame, because we love the color here – and that there’s a color at all, since we are so very over the grey suit/grey shirt/grey tie trend currently greying up red carpets the world over.

We met him once very briefly at a party and pictures don’t do him justice at all. A total can’t-take-your-eyes-off-him kind of beauty. Women and men were flocking to him the whole night.

  • Agreed.  Pretty suit, but on him it looks like a hand-me-down because of the awful fit.  Beautiful man, though.

  • B_C_J

You are absolutely correct. The fit is horrendous!

    • YoungSally

But with the awful fit comes so much information about the man.

  • Sobaika

What a dish. Too bad about the suit.

I always wondered why his career didn’t take off in a bigger way. The movie he’s in with Jessica Biel looks terrible.

    • DeborahJozayt

I wonder if he’s just not leading man material. When I saw 300, I couldn’t see anyone else playing his character. Same with Machine Gun Preacher. He’s got comedic timing, but I don’t know if he can easily slip from Spartan to romantic comedies like other actors can. And he was terrible as The Phantom, he sang beautifully, but no expression in his face.

He’s like Jason Statham or Jake Gyllenhaal where they just don’t draw massive audiences by their name alone.

      • Imasewsure

I think he either sees himself (or the studios see him) as a replacement for Mel Gibson – but unfortunately Mel the kind of gross, miscast leading man/romantic comedy star, not the coolish slightly dangerous character actor/leading man he started out as. Hope they reverse it for our sakes and for his…

      • Sobaika

There was a ‘romantic comedy’ (if you could call it that) with Hillary Swank, and he was the only decent part of the entire movie.

      • ecallaw1977

I like the one with him and Katherine Heigl okay  He was cute in it, I just don’t care for her very much.

    • ChicaDificil

Took the words right out of my mouth. I love me some Gerard Butler but I cringed when I saw the previews

    • Billie_Dawn

He’s not an untalented guy; he was very good in “Dear Frankie” and “Coriolanus.” And he’s got a ton of charisma and screen presence. I think it’s more a combination of bad advice from his entourage and his own absolutely abysmal taste in scripts. Seriously, he has to be at least partially responsible for the awful movies he spends 90 percent of his time making.

  • Vanja

Well I wish this “beauty” would have shaved.

    • 3boysful

Me, too, but ya gotta love a smile that starts in his eyes.

    • FrayedMachine

Am I the only one who’s digging the stubble? Maybe it’s because I have a particular love for guys with facial hair. Yuuumm

  • formerlyAnon

He’s very appealing. He’s old enough to know he’d look better in a suit if he shaved, though.

In other news not of general interest, however the styles changed, my dad always had a suit in that exact color in his wardrobe. He was 6’3″, it brought out his eyes beautifully and it was easy to see why my mom gave him a second glance.

    • Rebecca Jay

My dad had blue eyes and always wore blue suits.  I asked him once why he never wore a black suit like the other dads at church and he said… “Your mama likes me in blue.”

  • FrayedMachine

The fabric looks -so- strange. I can’t help but imagine a crinkling sound at the thought of him moving in it. Very nice color on him, though.

    • mellorcr

I agree.  I think it may be more a matter of strange, crunchy fabric than a fit issue.  If the fabric was nicer it would probably just seem slightly snug.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

I confess I never got his appeal before, but he was on SportsCenter this morning (!) to promote his new flick where he plays a soccer player and…that voice.  Yeah.  The voice was what did me in.  He looks beyond fine from the shoulders-up here, so I’ll concentrate on that.

  • RebeccaKW

Love him.  The suit does have some fit issues, but other than that he looks good.  Good color on him.  I do kind of hate that tie, though.

  • bertkeeter

Suit looks cheap…but what can you expect from CK? I met him at last years Golden Globes…and your correct…in person he is absolutely stunning. His face, eyes and hair just glow! He works “stubble” very well!

  • Pants_are_a_must

    A delicious man? I don’t know….

Too much blue going on in that outfit.

  • Monabel

Isn’t the bad fit exacerbated by the shiny?

  • I like how he can look very different from one minute to the next.

  • another_laura

I haven’t seen any of his movies because he hasn’t landed in one that appeals to me, but him?  he appeals to me in a big way.

  • He is a delicious man but I am wondering if he’s borrowed Stephen Moyer’s Clairol. Is his hair always that colour?

    • lizajane1776

I’ve never seen it with that chestnut tint before, although that doesn’t dissuade me from panting after him.

  • Imasewsure

He does look good here (and glad to hear that he is better looking in person because it’s nice to be around pretty things). Better fit for the suit, better choices in roles and we can keep him around as he ages well.

  • It may not be gray on gray but it sure is blue on blue (“heartache on heartache”…..).  Anyway.  Is monochromatic the preferred color scheme for guys nowadays?

  • EEKstl

I’m sorry, is he wearing a suit?

  • decormaven

The pants look like they’re sliding south on him. Bad for fashion, but good for onlookers. 🙂

  • bellafigura1

    Too much blue. Nope.

  • judybrowni

    Shave, dammit!

  • SpillinTea

I don’t really get delicious from him.  More like STD…

  • Ugh.  The suit doesn’t fit well. The spell Butler once had on me has been broken for a while now.  Perhaps I need to see him in person.

  • guest2visits

Agree – the suit seems alittle off, nice color though. He looks gigantic compared to the fans behind him.

  • MilaXX

Bless his heart, he tried. The movie looks cute, nothing I woukd go see, but cute

  • sk8tfan

Minor pet peeve-he has a glorious head of hair that I would die to run my fingers through and many of his movie roles have him with a crew cut. Argh. And in interviews he seems utterly charming and that doesn’t always come through in the movies. Back to reality-I agree, fabulous color, and it does good things for his already beautiful eyes, but odd fit.

  • quiltrx

Mmm.  I have a soft spot for this one…one of my dream men, for sure.  As if he isn’t pretty enough, I could listen to him talk forever, too.  I can forgive the fit, my darling. 🙂

  • never understood his appeal. then again, i never saw him in a movie. then again then again, he never starred in anything id be interested in (to my knowledge).

  • i think you guys can be a bit too picky/critical of fits on jackets; it looks like a lightweight suit, so of course it’s not going to sit perfectly flat. this wasn’t a photoshoot, he was moving in between shots so i don’t think the jacket being slightly out of place indicates a bad fit.

  • He’s so douchey, though, it hurts to look at him.  He makes my skin crawl.

  • librarygrrl64

I like him this way: back to his pre-300, less bulky self. Yum. 🙂

  • maggiemaybe

    Dang. He sure is pretty…

  • carpediva

“We met him once very briefly at a party and pictures don’t do him justice at all. A total can’t-take-your-eyes-off-him kind of beauty.”

He must seriously take the worst pictures ever!

That is a totally swoony sentence and try as I might, it seems inconceivable that you’re talking about G-But.
