Eddie Redmayne in Burberry Prorsum

Posted on December 06, 2012

This is pretty damn close to perfect, and that’s saying something since Eddie has frustrated us so much in the past by going out looking like a hobo.

Eddie Redmayne attends the world premiere of ‘Les Misérables’ in London in Burberry Prorsum.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 Collection

It’s hard to tell because *teeth grinding* he didn’t button his damn jacket and kept shoving his hands in his pockets, but this looks to be perfectly tailored to him. And it’s a beautiful color. And we love a man with the balls to go out in a velvet suit. The only bad note is the choice of shoe. Those scuffed browns just don’t go. But we’re willing to forgive because the rest of it is working like gangbusters. Attaboy, Eddie.

wow. I guess it takes a man to make velvet look good.

  • newleaf1

I’m a little clueless – I don’t know who this guy is – but DANG, he’s got a pretty face.

    • MrsMaxPower

His cheekbones are insane…very nicely sculpted face

      • Mismarker

Cheekbones and the lips.  Lord, the lips!

        • He’s almost as bad as Bret Michaels when it comes to poking the lips out every time he’s in front of a camera.  Almost.  Great actor though.  And I’m always down for a green velvet in any form or fashion.

          • Mismarker

Yes, great actor.  I may have spent a little too much time watching his mouth during Birdsong. I can’t remember most of the plot!

    • mjude

i dont have a clue either

    • Deac82

He starred in My Week with Marilyn, he’s Marius in Les Mis, and he’s a formerly (currently?) in the Burberry Ads.

      • newleaf1

Ah.  That helps.  Regardless of who he is, I could look at that face all day long….

      • Judy P

He also plays William Stafford in The Other Boleyn Girl, and Jack in the Pillars of the Earth miniseries, which I highly recommend. LOTS of talent in that movie.

    • Tammy_4

He was also wonderful in “Birdsong” on Masterpiece Theater.  Fab WWI era costumes too!

      • dorothea_brooke

“Birdsong” was excellent and he was excellent in it. All very romantic and swoon-worthy.  (Except for, you know, World War 1.)

    • quiltrx

If you have Netflix and are up for a little bubonic plague and Sean Bean (I’m always up for the latter, anyway), check him out in ‘Black Death.’

  • Its a gorgeous suit.  And it should only be worn by someone with a lanky frame, like his.   I’m not on board with the tie color.  Not sure what I would want instead, but something else.  Brown shoes?  Fine. Those? not so much.

    • TRSTL

Agreed on the tie and the shoes.  A deep, rich brown polished oxford would have been fine. Or a dk brown suede sleek loafer like the ones I have from Ferragamo a few years ago. But nothing “scruffy”. I would have loved a very deep orange or red silk shantung tie.  Somethng with a bit more polish and sheen.

      •  Oh I do like the idea of the orange tie.  If you remember an old color from the crayola box called bittersweet, that would be perfect!

        •  Orange tie with a green suit? He’d have to be careful where he walked in some parts of Ireland.

          • TRSTL

LOL!  That could be true…. I was thinking more of a deep russet red/orange, not the true Orange of Ireland.

  • Don’t mind the shoes at all. This definitely deserves a Man WERQ.

    • MissAmynae

Agreed.  Normally he gets a “whomp whomp” from me, but this got a “hmm, maybe I should reconsider.”  Especially the shot of him buttoning the jacket.

  • miagain

    hubba hubba

  • I don’t even mind the shoes because it doesn’t stand out that much, and it picks up a bit of the tone from the tie, so that works for me…

  • The color of both pieces is even more amazing in person-saturated but not bright teal. Unfortunately, the pants are made for men with skinny legs who don’t do any leg work at the gym.

  • Srw27

    Wow, he’s lookin FIT!

  • eowyn_of_rohan

Oh yes, this is my favorite red carpet look of the year for dudes.  Nicely done. *swoon*

  • bittykitty

I always think that he and Jessica chastain could be siblings…something always reminds me of the other

    • eowyn_of_rohan

Holy crap, I see it now.  Casting directors, get on that!

    • kschwarting

Julianne Moore played his mother in a movie a few years ago–perfect casting (though the movie was about a seriously dysfunctional mother-son relationship, shudder).

      • bittykitty

Wow, I could see that working really well too

  • bertkeeter

Stunning color! Not grey…f–ing hallelujah!!!  Actually like the some what worn shoe look…

  • SewingSiren

Oh I just love this too. I love velvet. When better to wear a velvet suit than when promoting a period picture?

  • Who told him that “looks like a comb-over but it’s really not” hairstyle was flattering? He’s obviously got a beautiful head of hair, but he’s doing it no favors. Also, Eddie? Close your damn mouth and get some ChapStick! Sorry for the negativity – he just makes me cranky. I hate waste.

  • Hands in Pocket – It’s cold up there. I guess you can’t wear gloves nor mittens at the RC

  • That is one lovely suit. I want to rub my hands all over him and I don’t even particularly find Eddie attractive. Shows you what a good suit’ll do for ya’.

  • Fantastic…

  • RebeccaKW

He looks great.  And I want to cuddle up to him.  That suit!  That face!  Mmm.

  • merciblahblah

This guy – his eyes and those FRECKLES – make my lady-bits tingle. I’m just sayin…

  • SophiaPehawkins

Hubba hubba. Zing zing. Baby he’s got everything.

    Le sigh. He’s pretty.

  • Pants_are_a_must

His creepy, creepy face is almost a deterrent from his velvet suit-rocking abilities. And I can’t with that hair.

  • MissAnnieRN

SWOON.  Can you imagine how awesome it would be to have him take your arm in a velvet suit?  To dance with him?  Feeling the fabric?  Am I starting to sound like George Costanza?  Yes, I want to be ensconced in velvet.  Not just any velvet, Eddie Redmayne’s velvet.  CANNOT WAIT! for Les Miserables!

  • I have a friend who hates velvet. She can’t stand to be near it in case she touches it – it’s like fingernails on the blackboard to her. Suffice to say she is wrong. This is beautiful. And you’d have to be mad not to want to touch it when it is presented like this.

  • lehen

    ew hair

    • Pennymac

That Bieber-ish comb toward the face at the temples annoys the crap outta me. Plus the posing… makes me think of this:

“So join now, ’cause at the Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can’t
Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too, we teach you that
there’s more to life than just being really, really, really good
      looking. Right kids?”

  • Something about his stance and facial expressions annoy the crap out of me. Why is he constantly leaning, and why is his mouth always half-open like that – it looks like he’s trying to make the male equivalent of duckface? He looks like Owen Wilson in Zoolander. Knock it off, stand up straight, button your suit and maybe smile #motherlyheadsmack
Ok, now that I got that out of my system, I like the suit. Love the red pocket square; wish he’d gone for a richer color in the tie because the gray distracts and doesn’t really do anything for it in my view, in a worse way than the shoes. Actually, a rich mahogany tie might have been nice, because the color of the shoes doesn’t bother me with this suit, just the scuffs on the shoes.

    • kimmeister

I couldn’t help but notice he was listing in every shot too.  Reminds me of the video for “Smooth Criminal.”

    • JasmineAM

  • I<3 a man in a well fitted velvet suit. WTG Eddie.

  • He’s too young for me to ever get me tingly south of the border, but mouthbreathing and all – the image he’s cutting here just gave me a men’s fashion boner.

  • BrooklynBomber

I want a lady version of that suit.

  • Oh.  Yes.  Thanks.

  • mmc2315

    Skinny boy!

  • That suit is delicious.

  • WittyCism

I don’t know who he is, but with this!  I wanna know.  And on an older man, the shoes would’ve killed me, but he’s young enough to pull off bad boy rebellion for now.

  • MissMariRose

It’s a nice suit, but he ruins the look with that DerpFace.

  • Squarah

Hot. I am so attracted to him since Pillars of the Earth.

  • Imasewsure

I like the suit but this guy is the opposite of attractive to me… would have loved a more interesting tie although that might have undone the polish here I guess….

  • MilaXX

I would have loved a dark brown wing tip, but I love the color of that suit on him.

  • formerlyAnon

Any man picking me up in that suit, looking that good in it, would have to be an egregious asshole not to get laid that night.

  • Jennifer Coleman

Oh, I was hoping that Eddie would make a return soon!
For one, I just cannot figure out for the life of me why I find this borderline dorky dude so attractive.
Secondly, it’s just so funny how he bugs Tlo. Teeth grind, indeed.
And the suit is divine-the color and the tie/pocket square – be still my heart. It he had worn the model shoes, I’d be in heaven.

  • Alisa Rivera

He looks inbred and sexy at the same. Nice trick.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Oh my, I just want to rub my hands all over him.

    It’s a nice suit, too.

  • Sara__B

Little Lord Fauntleroy, all grown up and lace-free.  I like this velvet suit!

  • thecitysleeps

I’m obsessed with his lips.  Sorry, you were saying?  Yeah,  the rest of him looks damn fine in that suit.  The lips, though!!

  • I want him and Lady Edith to have an affair. Please god.

  • Monabel

Want more velvet suits! Velvet suits for all!

  • MsALVA

I will never not see “Burberry Prorsum” and not have my brain turn it into Burberry Possum.

  • LeifBallard

Love the velvet suit….I NEED one in royal blue stat!

  • quiltrx

I just saw my very first Redmayne feature–‘Black Death’–and I have to say I was impressed with his performance.  (anyone who can get me to look away from Sean Bean for even a SECOND has some street cred with me!)  He has a very ’emotional’ face, which probably bodes well for him as an editorial model sometime.

Anyway, this suit is pretty cool, and he’s werqing it to be sure.  And J’ADORE the tousled hair!!!

  • Karen Dickerson

OMG. I want those lips on my lips.

  • I am not usually attracted to skinny man. But boy, this one can really pull off the suit. And the lips. Oh my, the lips.

  • lrhoff

    He’s perfect….

  • librarygrrl64

Well-dressed! But he still does nothing for me. Can’t imagine him as Marius, either. I guess we’ll see!

A friend of mine is on the SAG committee this year, so she’s had a screener of Les Miz for a few days. She said she started crying about 10 minutes in. 😉

  • He’s so handsome, but he can’t carry off that pure white without looking a little orange.  I can’t make my mind up about the suit.

  • Zippypie

I don’t find him attractive at all, but the boy does look good in a tailored velvet suit, that’s for sure.

  • Carly Warnock

not sure what i like more, the lips or the cheekbones. mmm. the velvet suit isn’t bad either.

  • Andrew

Ugh, he’s NOT cute at all. All you people need to raise your standards if you think he’s attractive. *vom*
