Cover Girl: Rita Ora for Glamour UK Magazine

Posted on December 05, 2012

Miss Rita certainly got her rough edges smoothed out for the cover of Glamour UK, didn’t she? And we’re not talking about Photoshop.

Rita Ora covers the January 2013 issue of Glamour UK magazine in a Christian Dior magazine photographed by Walter Chin.

On her new found fame: “This girl came up and said ‘Rita – I love your song,’ and it felt so good. That was the best Big Mac I’ve ever eaten. Now I get recognized a lot more, but that’s OK. In fact, it’s great.”

On getting compared to Rihanna: “It’s just so unnecessary. The most unnecessary thing I’ve ever heard, actually. I mean, last time I checked, I’ve been blonde since I was 14 years old. My inspiration has always been from old-school, classic women, so I don’t take any notice of that.”

Her slightly harder persona has been smoothed out and papered over with something much girlier and more traditional. Not that we’re shocked or offended. It’s Glamour, after all, and any gal who agrees to do the cover should know going into it that she’s going to wind up looking conventionally pretty by the time it’s all over.  She looks cute. It’s just that without the cover blurb, we wouldn’t have known it was her.

Having said that, we love the dress.

I don’t like the fake-surprised expression. And: if I was an up-and-coming artist, my PR person would be fired if my front page quote was about another more famous artist. It should be about her.

Rita Ora on the cover of a magazine that includes the blurb “365 Days of Hot Sex” should be allowed to look more like herself and less like Diana Argon.

The dress is cute, I just wish the background wasn’t white.  She looks like a head and hands coming out from a sheet.

While I never compared her to Rihanna, I do get why she is.  Party-girl type songs, out there clothing.

    That’s almost offensively bland.

    Two words:

    Washed out.

  • Introspective

    Zzzzzzzzz.

Her quotes are a bit annoying. She sounds peeved that she is compared to Rihanna and then goes on to say she doesn’t notice. Make up your mind, girl.

In fairness, she said “I don’t take notice of that,” an expression I take to mean “I don’t take that seriously” or “I don’t think much about that” — NOT I didn’t notice it.

I still think her attitude suggests she does take it at least a bit seriously, otherwise it would be a non-issue. I could definitely be misinterpreting her though!

OH!…thanks for that explaination…I wish I knew what Beyonce told her, I’m a Bouncy fan

The dress looks a lot like a costume.

Whoever she is, she looks like Carey Mulligan there.  Off to google.

That is not the chick who likes her McQueen as Gaga as they come. That is the chick who forcefully tries to not be Rihanna, and come on, lady, give it a rest.

Hate the dress. It looks like an apron or my grandmother’s kitchen curtains, and combined with that fake-surprised look, it’s too twee for words.

    Who IS she?

  • RzYoung

I’m afraid she’s the latest entry on my Irrational Hate List. I’m not proud of it but that’s how it is.

I just wish her hair color was better. I know she’s trying to be edgy, but that’s the hair of a girl who can’t afford a touch up. And it looks scraggly. Sista, fix your hair.

That dress does not say “January” to me. Maybe if it were in Glamour Australia.

  • afabulous50

I have absolutely no idea who she is..yes, I’m old.

  • decormaven

Pretty dress, but why the white background? We’re losing the details in this shot- pity. She’s channeling Sandra Dee here.

The dress looks fantastic on her cover photo.  Much more life than the model’s flat cardboard pic.
I also wish the dress was abit longer so it would look more womanly and less little girl.
