Christina Ricci in Richard Chai LOVE

Posted on December 10, 2012

The last time we saw Christina standing in front of giant hedge in a Richard Chai LOVE dress, we had a somewhat mixed reaction. If you can call “This is weird” a mixed reaction, that is.

Christina is wearing a Richard Chai dress, Prada shoes, and an Alexander Wang bag.

Richard Chai LOVE Fall 2012 Collection/Model: Lara Mullen

But this is supercute. Like a lot of brown-eyed brunettes, greys and black look really good on her. We just wish she’d worn the belt. And okay, yes; the hem looks a little pucker-y. But we’re trying to be nice here! Honestly! She looks cute, dammit!

This is very much a step up from the belly-baring shiny navy sports bra thing. And she has great gams.

  • Its clear from a design standpoint that the skirt is meant to arc in slightly at the hem.  But man-o-man does that shiny fabric show every tiny gather they need to make it happen.  However, I love the structural top of the dress, a lot.

  • Clueless_Jock

I like the look too but I’m just curious why you aren’t giving this the matchy-matchy condemnation?

  • Andrew Schroeder

I don’t know; I feel like the way the skirt is attached to the bodice just looks cheap.

    • kimmeister

Paper bag waists always do look cheap.

  • elemspbee

she looks good. the skirt bottom does not.

  • Zippypie

I really like the bodice, not crazy about the paper bag waist.  Cute shoes.

  • maggiemaybe

Not so sure about the Santa’s-sack-of-toys skirt but she looks great.

  • Maya Cagan

Loving everything except the skirt, which looks EXACTLY like a trash bag.

  • I lovelovelove this. I think she looks adorable and I kind of want to be her best friend.

  • Judih1

wish she had kept the belt and the jacket like the model is wearing. Then it would be a WERQ.

    • I agree with you about the jacket. It really brings it all together.

I would kill for those shoes.

  • StellaZafella

It needs the belt. And the hem should be straight, it’s not doing favors by puckering the bottom like this…it may be a design element but, if it is, it’s one too many for barely a quarter yard of fabric.

  • erinbinek

I wish she had worn the jacket.  She would’ve been WERQ’in it.

  • MilaXX

very cute and while I love the shoe color, I continue to dislike round toes

  • MK03

No. I cannot sign off on that exposed skirt seam. That whole trend of exposed seams drives me up the wall.

  • Anathema_Device

The skirt desperately needs the belt. And the outfit needs more interesting shoes.

  • ankali

She does look cute. Love the bodice on this.

  • crash1212

Much cuter with the belt. HATE those shoes…somebody please burn them. After you’re done burning the shoes, please rip the coat right off that model and send it to me STAT!

The heck with the dress (which is, I admit, very nice).  I want the coat the model is wearing!

  • Trisha26

Love her, don’t love the outfit. The coat on the model is stunning!

  • Imasewsure

Cuter with a belt but cute enough. Also doesn’t overwhelm her like a lot of the stuff she wears

  • quiltrx

I love the bodice, but the skirt looks like an afterthought and cheap to boot.

    • l_c_ann

ITA, although I’d call the skirt a “lost a bet” skirt.  How can a designer make such a great top and such a beautifully constructed coat and then make a chip (sic) laundry bag of a skirt?

  • bertkeeter

Never a fan of a “paper bag waist”. Why is she always wearing mary jane pumps Look so sad!. Like her longer hair…lengthens her round face.

  • Girl_With_a_Pearl

I keep going back and forth between she looks cute, but the top of the skirt is odd.  But she looks cute, but the top of the skirt, etc.  I think I’ll just call the outfit cute and go back to what I was doing.

  • NoelleMB

The outfit is cute, but I especially love the hair. It looks so much younger and fresher than that Mila Hermanovski blunt bob she was sporting for the longest time. She’s 32 and looks about 18. And as cute as a button.

  • BrooklynBomber

I think I need that coat.

  • Valdri8

If I could own that coat I would be a happy woman forever. Or at least when I was wearing that coat.

  • Dot

I’m not objectively crazy about the dress, but she looks lovely, happy, and comfortable in it.

  • She looks great. I love that neckline on her. It’s very strong and goes well with her big, dramatic features. Love this whole look, in fact.

  • formerlyAnon

She looks great. The dress is weird. Not JUST the hem – indeed the entire skirt, looks like someone whipped it up at the coat check, in a panic, out of pieces cut from the lining of someone’s large coat.

  • thecitysleeps

The dress looks good on her but I like the upper part of the dress more.  I feel like it would have been better if it had just continued with a sleak black pencil skirt or even if it was just all of the same fabris of the upper part.  But that’s just personal taste.  I dislike bubble skirts.  And the shoes look bad.

  • Love the top.  Hate the bottom.  She’s still super cute, though.

  • afabulous50

    I’d kill for her legs…

  • Tatiana Luján

I hate the skirt, but love the top and her face had never looked prettier.

  • plinkiedoodle

Very cute!  But what’s up with the waistband on the skirt?

  • Judy_J

She does look cute.  I have a hard time understanding why the hem on a designer dress would look so cheap, but other than that…..

  • She does look cute! Hate the waist of the skirt, however.

  • kimmeister

Navy blue satin pumps were an odd shoe pairing.

  • guest2visits

So perfect from the waist up.  The skirt is still abit too short and reminds me of Tim’s button bag.

  • EEKstl

Very cute but hate the waistline of the skirt – and WTF with the blue satin pumps?

  • veronkimo

Oh my gosh! She looks totes adorbs! Love it! 🙂
