Amanda Seyfried for InStyle Magazine

Posted on December 18, 2012

Love this look for Miss Amanda:

Amanda Seyfried covers the January 2013 issue of InStyle magazine photographed by Dusan Reljin and styled by Samira Nasr in a Chanel Resort 2013 dress paired with Jimmy Choo shoes.

Chanel Resort 2013 Collection/Model: Bette Franke (VIVA)

Jimmy Choo ‘Maya’ Pump

She can work these looks that should come off all twee but instead wind up looking chic and even a little edgy on her. Those silver shoes really make the look; a perfect bit of punctuation for the outfit.

I’m getting a baby-shower cupcake feel from the dress, but the shoes are fab (and so is her knowing facial expression).

  • Pants_are_a_must

The shoes are great. The dress, less so.

I’d argue about the mermaid hair, but I think it’s truly one of her most recognizable features, in a way Amy Adams could never work with hers.

  • Patricia Gillett

Perfection. The dress looks great and the silver shoes were an inspired choice.

  • neofashionista

fabulous but why did they have too airbrush her she looks perfect lovely in real life without the computer modulating her into something fake and plastic :(

    • raininmai

I agree about the airbrushing in magazines. I think that’s why I enjoy the red carpet photos so much more. At least we know we’re looking at something real.

  • Lauren Dorsee Dillon

I want to say a huge thank you for no platform pumps!!!

  • donnaINseattle

Agreed. The dress color, the cut of the dress, her hair, the makeup, the expression, and those FABulous shoes. Wish her legs looked more able to carry her body though.

    • meowing

Maybe the ever-present Photoshop, but doesn’t the crossed leg look a lot smaller than the grounded leg??

      • Heather

YES. That is almost an entry for Photoshop Disasters. Her right (top) leg looks like it belongs on a different body, but the attached foot is twice the size of the other one.

  • Kiltdntiltd

I am just deeply grateful that they did not show the original sheer over grannies version the model has on.

    • kimmeister

Oh barf, I hadn’t even noticed until you pointed that out.

      • kerryev

I am jealous of your vision. If you have any tips on how not to notice that particular kind of barf, please share.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

We need a petition to ban granny panties and sheer skirts from all runways STAT.

    • ampg

I think that may have been at least partly due to the lighting.

      • Isabel

Or, maybe it has a lining. Or maybe, they Photoshopped the grannies away.

  • mmc2315

I would’ve guessed that the color of the dress would wash her out, but it looks great on her!

  • SewingSiren

She looks very pleased with herself. Maybe she’ll edge out Anne.

  • MilaXX

glad they lined it for the cover

  • Kathy_Marlow

I saw this at the grocery store earlier today and thought “Wow, she looks amazing, I hope TLo does a post on this!”

    • ampg

      Heh – me too.

  • kimmeister

They handled her eye makeup nicely.  When it’s not done right, she can sometimes look bug-eyed, but no such look here.

I just bought shoes in the exact same shape, but houndstooth (and for like a millionth of the price, I’m sure) so I’m feeling even better about them now.

  • Nancer

I think she looks great here! Too often the dresses overwhelm her, but this fits her perfectly. Love it.

  • Introspective

she looks fab here- great color and fit in the dress, and fierce shoe. whoever styled her for this needs to be helping her out on the RC.

Les Mis is this girl’s breakout role and she keeps showing up in less than noteworthy garments and wasting the moment to make herself shine. but here she’s shining indeed.

  • marlie

The silver shoes MAKE the look. The dress looks kinda crappy on the model, but outstanding on her.

  • rmlamb

I think she looks like an Easter egg.

  • Beverly Hensley Kozma

See, that picture with the model – that’s the stuff that makes me think fashion is nothing but one big joke.

  • twocee

Heels that aren’t platforms!  It’s a Christmas miracle!

    • Heather

No kidding!! Am trying to find some shoes for New Years that don’t make me tower over my date (my own issue, not his), yet don’t look like something my grandmother would have worn, and so far no luck.

  • Elena

    Jealous of her hair cape.

  • decormaven

Way to sell those pumps! Those shoes take that garment to the next level.

  • mom2ajs5

Those shoes really need to find a way into my closet!

  • Imasewsure

Love it from head to toe on her

  • E. D.

    Love it!

  • LLuL

Too Taylor Swift for me, I think.

  • Julie Johnston

Her face is giving me a Winslet vibe. Anyone else see it?

  • ThaliaMenninger

She looks great here. I saw her on Conan last night, and girl is W-E-I-R-D. She likes taxidermy and keeps all sorts of stuffed animals (like, dead and then stuffed) in her home. She enjoys lots of beady little dead eyes staring at her. W-E-I-R-D.

  • berkeleygirl

She rocks that dress better than the model, partly because she has a better body.  The fit is amazing.

  • ankali

She looks better in that dress than the model does. Well played, Amanda and stylists!

  • Judih1

I find her hair bit too much, a slightly shorter length would be more becoming on her

  • Ass Kicking Adviser

That is a fabulous look. I was getting very tired of some of the Chanel but this look is perfect and the pumps are great too. Going with one of my favorite trends right now: non-platform shoes. Unfortunately InStyle once again made ass of what was probably a lovely photo. What is it with them and the photoshop and their desire to make everything look ‘fake?’

  • MishaFoomin

Looks like a Tiffany’s gift box. Still pretty.

  • jmorino08

I saw this magazine at the grocery store yesterday and she stood out even among all the Christmas recipe books surrounding her! Work that proper shit, girl!!

  • Pennymac

I need those shoes to make my life complete.

  • Kim Baker Vidas Davey-Irvin

    love.  fullstop.

  • Eovaai

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

she kind of looks a little psychotic and dangerous in this, which is awesome.

  • quiltrx

The dress has some interest, but it’s the shoes that really stand out.  Not sure that’s what you want for a magazine cover, though?

  • kikisayshi

Wouldn’t have recognized her. Love the shoes! WANT the shoes!

  • AnneElliot

Wow.  I love this, even with the odd little dangly bits on the bodice, which I find distracting.  And god bless someone for those amazing shoes — I’m praying that the horrible platform trend is on its way OUT.

  • guest2visits

The dress is beautiful; she looks great in this blue also.  I continue to be disappointed by the quality of the photography
for American InStyle, however; I think they do a poor job for their cover-subjects both inside and out.

  • Victoria Weinstein

She and Emma Stone are the most adorable kids. This is beautiful. They do Pretty White Girl better than anyone.

  • Dhammadina

The silver shoes are fierce. Apply as antidote to the nude colored ones.

  • ccm800

She looks dead tacky to me.
