Allison Williams in L’Wren Scott

Posted on December 07, 2012

Okay, we LOVE this dress:

Allison Williams attends Seventh Annual Women Of Worth Awards in New York City in a L’Wren Scott dress.

L’Wren Scott Spring 2013 Collection

Perfect holiday party frock, yes?

The only reason it’s not a “WERQ!” is because it’s a skosh too long on her and because she deployed the starlet-standard issue cocker spaniel hair. Totally obscures that great neckline.

  • Harley Quinn chic. Love it.

    •  You beat me to it! Perfect for a NYE masquerade.

    • DeborahJozayt

I like that! I was thinking the Rockettes, too.

  • homofascist

I’m going to a black and red party Saturday night.  That dress would come in handy…

  • Judih1

great holiday dress yes! but boring shoes and cocker spaniel hair ruins it. And yes, it is a skosh too long. Send it to me Allision, I need for a party this weekend and I could totally WEQR it!

    • Yes, this would have been greatly improved if she had her hair pulled back. Sleek ponytail, perhaps?

    • teensmom99

yes disappointed with the shoe and while I often am okay with longish dresses this is off by more than a skosh.

      • Lori

The shoes are boring, but at least she resisted the urge to wearing the matching shoes that the model has on.

  • Sobaika

So close. A loose chignon would have been the way to go. It would be better if she even brushed it back from her shoulders instead of it hanging directly in the way.

  • raininmai

The dress is great and AW looks terrific here, but does anyone look at her and think of Amanda Peet?  They could be sisters.

    • filmcricket

All the time. And since I can’t stand Peet, it makes me unreasonably biased against Williams.

Looks like she got caught in a glittery bear trap, but I still like it. I’d like it much more if she’d get her hand off the one place where the black extends across the dress. That one little spot makes the dress for me- I really like it on the model.

  • JasmineAM

She looks like a comic book villian. LOVE! It would be perfect if her hair were in a chignon and the skirt a few inches shorter.

  • TheDivineMissAnn

Love, love this dress.  It is a touch long for my tastes, but I am vertically challenged so avoid below the knee dresses like the plague.

I am loving L’Wren Scott more and more each day.  I don’t think I have ever disliked any of her work, it’s f.a.b.

  • Valdri8

    She should have been cocker-blocked

    • Kristin McNamara

I see what you did there.

  • Judy_J

Very cute dress.  And I know you guys hate the matchy-matchy, but I had a little squee moment when I saw the shoes on the runway model.

  • msdamselfly

First time she looks at all interesting

  • Land shark!!!

  • littlemac8

Great dress, great gal!  Too bad about the length and hair but she’s new at this….I think she’ll improve with time!

  • EEKstl

Yeah, I can’t believe she didn’t wear her hair up, or at least back, to see the full effect.  But quite fetching!

  • I hate it, but my high school colors were red and black so whenever I see the combo I get hives.

  • MilaXX

Love the dress, hate the hair & shoes

  • I’m sick of the pee pee stance. I see it plenty with my

  • kimmeister

100% agreed on all points. I love it when the arm holes are cut in deep like that and was dismayed to see her obscuring that detail.

  • filmcricket

I wish the pattern was on the back, too. I’ve never understood why designers do that – the back is where we need more visual interest. The front has got face and boobs to break the monotony, the back’s got nothing but – well – back. And I get that lots of people may not want to sit on sequins, but in this case they seem to extend all the way around, so it’s not for comfort’s sake.

Anyway, agreed on all points. Great dress, too long, bad shoes & hair, but still the best thing she’s appeared in lately.

  • The hair is ruining it for me. But I love her and the dress so I am giving her a pass.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

It is a great holiday dress-just shorten that hemline a wee bit and it would be perfect!

  • barbarienne

I don’t know who she is, but she looks great in this dress.

  • greymain

“starlet-standard issue cocker spaniel hair” LOVE it!!! why is it SO difficult to wear proper hair ?

  • julesj

Who is she? Really, I googled her and still can’t figure it out…

  • boweryboy

How did she manage to fuck up that fabulous dress?

  • kcarb1025

Lovely! More of her, less of that vampire movie twit.

  • formerlyAnon

  • pookiesmom

Really? To my eyes, that dress is really aging. Like, I could imagine Helen Mirren rocking the shit out of it. But Allison Williams? Not so much.

  • Le_Sigh

She kind of bores me to death.  I kind of want to see Katy Perry in this – I think she’d turn it into a WERQ somehow.

  • quiltrx

I bet there were sequins all over the place later.

  • Patricia Gillett

Man, if she had only put her hair up!

  • I think she looks good, though I would have preferred that she have her hair pulled back. And I’m thankful that she didn’t wear the matching shoes that the model has on.

  • shanteUstay

I actually don’t mind this looking like a mardi gras dress, I just hate the collar/neckline

  • crash1212

God! Get rid of the hair starlets! It’s awful. I love this dress and agree, it’s a bit too long on her.

  • FridaStaire

Imagine this dress on Solange Knowles!

  • Robert Montano

Am I the only one that thinks this looks tacky? I mean, I could see this being designed by elementary schoolers.

  • miagain

I am so happy that you are taking on the hideous “cocker spaniel hair”  (wonderful name, btw…) I HATE that look!!

  • Cathy S

    Fabulous party dress.

  • amaranth16

Those enormous black platform hooves everyone’s wearing drive me freaking crazy.

  • librarygrrl64

That hair is a shame, is what it is. From far away it looks greasy and unkempt.
