WERQ: Emily Blunt in Alexander McQueen

Posted on November 01, 2012

It is yet another cloudy day outside the gates of T Lo Manor, so what we need right now is a little ray of sunshine to light up or morning.

Oh, hey. That was almost the lyrics for “My Girl.” Well, we don’t know if she’s got so much honey the bees envy her, but she looks damn good here:

Emily Blunt attends the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards in London in Alexander McQueen.

Alexander McQueen resort 2013 Collection

WERQ that sleek column of a bod, girl. When it’s cold outside, you bring the month of May, girl. You’ve got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees, girl. And major SNAPS of RESPECT for having this thing hemmed to perfection.

Note: Special thanks go out to The Temptations for helping us with this post.

Fabulous.  What a great color on her.  But is the original more of an ombre, or is that just the photo?  Either way, she looks amazing.

    • Deac82

I think that’s the lighting in the photo–the wall behind the model looks ombre as well.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I think the original is more ombre – which I think I prefer, & I wish she’d kept the belt too, but even so she looks stunning! I love the rings.

      • littlemac8

I think those “rings” are actually the clasp on a line of Alexander McQueen bags (I hope I’m remembering that correctly) and I she needs those pasty boob thingys to hike up her boobies into the dart area!  I do love her in this dress.

        • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Oh yes, I think you are right about the clutch!

      • 3boysful

I love the belt, too, but not sure if she’s tall enough to pull it off.

      • kschwarting

I echo your sentiments–but she does look great.  Love the autumnal color.

      • Sarah Thomas

I think the ombre effect was somewhat lost by her having to hem a foot off the runway version.

  • ChiliP

I had no idea Emily had such a fit, slammin bod. She looks fabulous! That’s a gorgeous color on her.

    • Sarah Thomas

She doesn’t eat at all, and when she’s about to pass out she has a cube of cheese.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

        A SINGLE cube of cheese.

I’m just one stomach flu away from my ideal weight.

  • http://twitter.com/jack_attack88 Jackie Stewart

    She’s flawless. I love her!

  • Judy_J

It’s a beautiful dress.  Just wish the bodice fit her properly.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_64HSRZWCSJ5RBFGCWDLFQOICYM G

Agree.  It just seems a bit too large.  I also kind of like the dress with a belt.

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

I agree with you, the bodice is slightly off. Love the color, and also agree that the belt improved the look. But she still pulls it off!

  • http://twitter.com/sebwfu Shannon Beamer

Love the color and her figure looks FANTASTIC in this dress.  Agree that the bodice could be fitted a little bit better and I think that she needs to blot her face, but those are relatively minor quibbles.

  • WittyCism

Picture No. 3 :  Girl, those lunges and squats paid off.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CNDPMVO4W23R5TVC2QMTJ5BZE Heather

      And shoulder presses.

  • http://twitter.com/shiningcui Shanying Cui

Does she look like she’s been crying to anyone else? I’m not trying to stir up controversy or gossip by saying she has…but for some reason the make-up on her face makes it seem that way.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Her face looks rather shiny all over, maybe that’s why it looks like she’s been crying.

    • NC_Meg

I think it’s the eye makeup. It looks like she’s got orange around her eyes which could make them look red, like after you cry. I also agree with MajorBedhead, her face is super shiny and that’s not helping the illusion.

    • guest2visits

Yes – I thought so too; her eyes have that wet look. Could be she just had a good sneeze! Looks wonderful in that dress, though.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/BJTY6KY7LOR7MDOD6QCZUC3VVI Donna Tabor

I’m not normally a fan of Ms. Blunt, but she looks fabulous here. That is a tough color to pull off, but it’s lovely on her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1232100086 Rameen Chaharbaghi

Dress is fantastic on her, but I gotta say, that eye make-up is giving her some serious puffy-eye.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

    Color!  Color!  Love it!

  • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

Great colour on her, but the belt and a better fit on the bodice would have tipped it into a WERQ for me.  Still. Girl is gorgeous.

  • JasmineAM

I think it would look x10 better with the belt.

    • AnaRoW

I agree completely.  The belt makes the dress. It looks standard without it.  Also she’s too shiny and the bodice isn’t fitting quite right.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=521523033 Erin Schubert Needham

Just need John Krasinski in a photo, and it would be perfect.

    • http://twitter.com/sebwfu Shannon Beamer

      Cosign.  He is delicious.

  • MilaXX

    She looks great.

*psst* tuck that zipper pull in

    • kimmeister

I am ashamed I didn’t know until *just now* that you were supposed to do that with zippers.

  • mhleta

I love this dress on her! However I adore the look on the model even more. That ombre is fierce and the belt! Still, she’s got the best accessory of all, an exquisite caboose. Accept no substitutes.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Trim and simple does it for her.  This looks fab. And an amazing, unexpected color for her, too.

  • http://www.facebook.com/cindyloohoo19 Cindy Bartlett Zigler

Colour is GORGEOUS – that tangerine/orange can be a tough one to pull off.  Having some blotting papers/pressed powder handy for the shine might’ve been a good idea, but actually I don’t really mind it – it just shows she’s human and gets a little shiny in the t-zone like a lot of us.  Would’ve loved to have seen the shoes she was wearing underneath the gown…

  • BrooklynBomber

When will the trend of putting a belt on EVERYTHING be over? I agree the belted version looks great on the model, who’s probably 6 feet tall, but on Emily I like the unbroken line, which better emphasizes, as TLo puts it, “that sleek column of a bod.”

  • nannypoo

Ring overdose on the right hand, otherwise perfect.

    • tereliz

      It’s the minaudiere.

      • nannypoo

Oh. Yeah, I guess it is.

        • tereliz

I like the idea of the knuckleduster handle, but once you put the clutch down, you’ve got a bare hand, and if you try to wear bracelets it might compete with the clutch once you’ve got it in hand… Somewhat problematic unless you’ve got the thing in a death-grip all night. Plus you’ve got a weapon if things get dicey later on… ;)

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Such a deceptively simple gown, and it works so well on Ms. Blunt.

  • kolokOlchik

She should have kept the belt, the fit around her chest is very off.  Definitely not a WERQ

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/DNWEFT2SVBX5T3NPMROQCT4U2U jennyv

I love her. she is just pure class, a la Cate Blanchett.

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Is that one of those clutches that has a clasp with finger rings?  (Bad sentence, I know.)   I love how it looks here.  Most photos I’ve seen, the women sporting them are also sporting too much other jewelry, or dresses that are already embellished, so the clutch is too much.  But here it’s used to perfection against that sea of orange jersey.  She looks great!  Brava.

  • BazoDee

She looks FAN-F-ing-tastic. That dress is showing off all her assets is a very tasteful way. Perfectly fitted. Fab-u-lous!

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gabriella M

She looks good, but if it were me I would have kept the belt and used a brighter shade of lipstick (maybe a plummy red). But that’s just nitpicking. WERQ, gurl.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

    Stunning.
While I like the belt, I think the dress looks more elegant without it. Girl knows what she is doing. :)

  • jilly_d

She looks great, but this would have been an A+ without that mousy hair color.  Would have been so fab with that rich brown she used to sport.

  • decormaven

I think that clutch is the one that is bejeweled at the clasp and allows one to slip three fingers through it, giving it the appearance of rings. Can’t remember the designer, but TLo should be able to identify. Gorgeous color on an exquisite form. Poetry in motion…

    • tereliz

      Also Alexander McQueen.

  • Janet B

I wish she had worn the belt, but she looks nice.

I love the dress as the model is wearing it, although walking would be impossible.

  • jmorino08

She looks fantastic in that dress, but there’s something off about her eye makeup, no? I can’t get past the notion that it looks like she’s been crying.

  • Joyce VG

GODDESS!  I LOVE the color.  YAY!

  • http://twitter.com/AShinyOConnor A Shiny O’Connor

    Coloured neckline is encroyable.

  • EEKstl

Perfection.  Bet John Krasinski’s glad he can call her “My Girl.” ;-)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=535548244 Kim Baker Vidas Davey-Irvin

i usually think it’s a mistake to drop the belt from the way the designer styles the gown, but, in this case, it was the right thing to do.  killer.

  • Kristy Evans

FACE. I wish she had kept the belt.

  • librarygrrl64

I like it better with a belt, but I can’t argue with how great this looks on her.

  • kittenwithaquip

It’s so nice to see a celebrity in an orange dress, and not orange skin. She looks amazing!
*edited to add *pale girl snaps*.

  • Sara__B

I don’t like her makeup, and I prefer the model’s look with the belt and the ombre, but Emily Blunt still looks very very good.

  • Judih1

Like it but would LOVE it if she wore the belt

  • B_C_J

FANTASTIC – simple yet glamorous, head-turning yet tasteful. The color is delicious on her and it is the proper hem length. Maybe a slight adjustment to the bodice would be in order but in reality that’s a detail and she overall she looks wonderful.  Glad she did not opt for the belt. The belt would have chopped the line. Without it she looks tall and graceful.  Well done!!!

  • TSkot

She looks fine, but needed the belt to make it look current; without, we’ve seen that dress a hundred times.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I think she looks great, but I would have LOVED it with the belt.

  • Monabel

No. That orange douses her. She looks washed out and shiny.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

I could’ve gone for small, simple earrings and lose the brass knuckles on her right hand.  That huge rock on her left hand is gorgeous-nice going, John K.!

  • PrunellaV

I’m not crazy about the color — looks a little too much like safety orange on my monitor. And please, dear, your lips look so much better when they’re not pumped up like a donut spare.

  • jw_ny

It’s ok, good in fact…I’m not wowed by it tho.  I do really like this color on her.

I’m wondering why the fabric puckers right in the middle of her butt.  It really drew my attention, and that’s one place you really don’t want  a bump.

  • Trisha26

Really like the belted look on the model. Emily’s look is just nice.

I love you, Emily, and your cheese diet. Please let’s be Bitchy Runway Assistants together.

  • TieDye64

    Fanfreakingtastic. And fun post.

  • oohsparkley!

Stunning. I like it with and without the belt.

  • ccm800

The very dullest McQueen dress ever – made even more pedestrian with alterations in hue
